  • In this video I'll show you how I treated my RC car, and how I designed and printed a new 3D part for it. The car is a ZD Racing Thunder, it's a cool car but if you push it to the limit be prepared to fix it more often, also to order more and more parts as you go, one of the best (or may be not) solutions is to 3D print your own parts so you don't have to wait for weeks to have the new ones delivered.

    I got into 3d printing rc parts because I wanted to restore my old nitro rc I had as a kid. That was almost 15 years ago and parts are rare if not non-existent at this point. Printing was the only way to really bring life back to my old truck. I started buying "tough" pla or "extra" strength pla (brands name it differently) but it's essentially the easy of use of play without the inherent brittleness, increased shock resistance and increase in temperature resistance.

      Does it really work with 3D printed parts? Do these parts last and isn't it difficult to get the correct measurements?

    I really like the idea of just making spares very cool!

    Really, really nice! 😃
    The only thing is that I guess PETG would be better than PLA, but... It works. 😊

    Cool, how do you preventing form getting sand on the gears?

    • @eirenwhelan3312
      @eirenwhelan3312 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I doesn't matter really, it'll just get chewed up like nothing as there is usually a big enough gap between the gears for sand and dirt to pass through. Differentials are more sensitive but they are enclosed

    I have ecx amp mt brushless upgrade and it is undestroyable, imperishable and fast
    but it took like 80usd to upgrade gears to metal
    but i highli recomend that car check it out.

    At this level of breakage, I recomend you swich to a traxxas or arrma chassis. They're usually very reliable. I've been beating my Slash and 4tec like some mfs for years and it rarelly breaks. You don't even need to buy a complete one, go on ebay and buy a new rolling chassis from a breaker and drop the electronics of your current car on it. Anyway great video!

    In general, 3d printed spares is good. But, all depend from the using area. For high-speed cars, I would use a nylon.
