I feel like I could take the darkness, but not having trees. Trees are the most perfect part of any landscape for me, and the leaves show you the season. It just a breathtaking part of everyday beauty I can't imagine living without.
This was some of your best work yet! Your editing, the voiceover, captions, everything was so well put together! I've been a fan of yours for a while now and I so appreciate the time you put into all of this for our enjoyment.
@@CeciliaBlomdahl great work, don't jinx your cooking, we all can learn n become good at it, great to see you cooking, it looked delicious, wishing you all the best to you 2 lovebirds 💕💗💖
It strikes me that someone somewhere is thankful for the times they have both sunsets and sunrises. We get them year round here and I have to confess to having taken them for granted. Thank you for this new way of looking at it.
I love when Fenris visits! The photography of your walk with the dogs enjoying the earth and the flora was exceptional. You captured the essence of the pups absorbing the scents and enjoying the stream water and the delicate droplets on the plants. It was beautiful! I hope Fenris' paws are healing!
For the Paw Licking and Bacteria/Fungus: I use Povidone-iodine (10% solution) as a paw wash/soak for my dogs due to similar issues. It was recommended by my vet and works the best of anything we've done. Just dilute the iodine liquid in water so it looks the color of strong tea, let the paws soak for 5-10minutes and pat dry. I sometimes moisturize the paws afterward with coconut oil. (Keep them on carpet or laying down for a bit for the coconut oil to soak in so they don't slip. Wipe off any excess after abount 10minutes. My dogs like to eat coconut oil, so I distract them during the wait time or add a cone while we let it soak in. Belly rubs while wearing the cone work wonders for my dogs.) Iodine temporarily stains, so be careful not to get it on your clothes or carpet. It can dilute out of some things, if it's spilled. No guarantees. Also, when iodine is left in water for a while, the color disappears. In the USA, Povidone-iodine (also known as Bentonite Iodine) is inexpensive and sold at common stores such as the grocery store or pharmacy. Amazon sells an 8oz bottle of it for $4.85 that could last a year worth of regular use. In my personal experience, doesn't truly expire when stored properly. A year after the expiration date and I still have success with the iodine solution. Amazon also sells a 4-pack of 8oz bottles of Povidone-iodine 10% solution for $17.59 from their Basic brand. It works well and is great to have extras on hand. I also use it for my person human first aid with any scrape, sometimes bug bites, foot soak and cleaning my dirty garden hands. I hope this helps.
I think Cecilia is just adorable. I have one daughter but I think I could squeeze Cecilia in to provide me with 2 daughters. LOL. She must have been a riot as a young kid and teenager !! I don't think Christofer could ever be bored ... LOL
My mom works nights as a nurse and couldn't live without her blackout curtains. I'm kind of surprised they don't have them? Although maybe they are hard to get up there.
A tip for Fenris and Grim's feet is to shave out the fur between the paw pads, it helps with the grip and no dirt can get stuck between them, it's something I learned from the YT channel called Girl With The Dogs.
Just discovered your channel after Kara and Nate’s video came out and I can’t get enough! Slowly going through all your videos in very random order. Also I think my dog is jealous from all the swooning I’m doing over Grim 🐶💕
While working in the arctic we hung heavy blinds over our bedroom windows to block the light. We were below the arctic circle so our longest days were 22.5 hours. It was still very light out as the sun was just below the horizon. When I was in Baffinland it was the season where there was some actual darkness. Having a regimented schedule helped. And again our rooms had heavy curtains.
Below Deck for the win! I've watched every season! Obviously, I love Grim, but there's something just so endearing about Fenris, too. His sweet little face makes me so happy! Marianna
Love how beautiful those arctic grasses and flowers looked with the dew- or water droplets on them. Sometimes or quite often you can find the greatest beauty in the smallest or simplest of things! Here where I live on the west coast of Skåne we enjoy the August darkness now. The summer nights we had before was much lighter so it was harder to go to sleep or even sleep well then! With the heat wave and warmth we have had it still not so easy to relax. The warmth of the day accumulate in the house walls and get released into the house during the nights...we had some tropical nights too so that didn't help the situation! I love to sit and watch the sunrise in the mornings and sunset in the evenings...all those forever shifting colors...it's magical! We are about to move back to our old apartment building ( we had to move due to arson in June 2020 when someone put the attic on fire and 56 families lost their homes or rather the house became severely damaged from fire and water but are now rebuilt). We will have a smaller apartment than before now on the 7th floor with a balcony and a view towards Öresund so I think the sunsets will be magical. Sadly I lost my oldest cat a couple of moths after the fire and forced move. He couldn't cope with the changes and sadly became sick and now August 10th we had to put our youngest cat to sleep due to his cronical illness. We had 3 cats from the beginning but one cat died at home from a brain hemorrhage back in 2019. To loose the cats was the most devastating thing of all and I loved them just as much as you love your darling Grim! You and Christoffer have an amazing life in a beautiful place, greetings and hugs to you both as well as lots of pats to Grim and Fenris! Susanne
This episode was like a moving meditation with the dogs and the views. Mornings are hard for me as well and found your routine inspiring 🙏💗 Have a great Sunday!
This is just so beautiful! The Pups at the stream is gorgeous! You really have incredible talent! Thank You for all your videos! So eye opening and something most would never know existed or ever would see if it wasn't for your youtube!
I've recently discovered your channel and it's fascinating to me. It's so interesting to get a peek into someone else's life when their circumstances are so different to you own. Thanks for sharing, and Grimm is my favorite!
I would imagine that the only way to survive these extreme swings in daylight would be to set a routine that is followed every day. Sleep hygiene, which includes, going to bed and getting up at the same time every single day, would be all that much more important with these extremes. Blocking out light at a certain time of the evening (closing all window coverings, etc.) is likely important as well. And using a sunlight lamp during the polar night, waking to a sunlight clock, etc.
I love all your videos. I don't tend to comment because I feel like you have enough of them to read and I pretty much never have anything to say. This time though I wanted to say thank you so very much for ending the video with the sounds of the Sea on the shore. Love that sound, love it, love it, love it! Be well, stay safe, sleep as you can, love from Texas.
I would just not be able to sleep at all under polar summer, I really admire how you guys are so adapted to it. Your calmness and chill personalities under adverse circumstances are amazing.
My mornings are SO important to me. I make sure that I have plenty of time in the morning to take it slowly. I love getting up & getting myself mentally prepared for my day. Thank you for such a beautiful video, Cecilia. Your time is recognized & appreciated. Sending you love & light from Oregon ❤️🌈
Can totally relate to the "me time" thing. Always throws me out when other people are in the house in the morning. Nice to gently slip into the day in your own time and with your own thoughts. As for the tea..... Where is our Cecilia!!! Beautiful to see Svalbard in the summer. Makes us want to come back every time.
You always have awesome views there. Such a beautiful place to live. Early mornings are the best time of the day, especially with a book and some coffee. Thank you again for the great videos.
I am the same as Cecilie when I wake up early once - "I am a new person", "this is my lifestyle now", "I remember, I used to wake up late... that was yesterday" lol you bring SO MUCH joy!!! I love the videos and have been binge watching hahah
Stunningly beautiful photography during your walk with the dogs - you are so very talented Cecilia. You see the extraordinary beauty around you and share it with us - thank you 🙏🏻
I have friends that live in the Arctic north of Canada and they encounter this same issues in summer. They said setting their watch to 24 hour time helps as does having blackout/blinds on all windows and doors. This helps create darkness in your home and allows for easier sleep.

You so captured that early morning feel... I'm not an early morning riser type but must rise early for work and as a night owl I don't want to sleep early at night so basically I'm constantly exhausted save the weekends. Good for you for realizing and implementing your new schedule. Love Grim and Fenris and the close ups of sniffing and licking wet blades of grass and the beautiful flowers. I hope Fenris's paws are doing better, so good of you and Christoffer caring for him as you do. Have a beautiful week in Svalbard!
I just saw that Kara and Nate stopped over in Svalbard before heading out on their polar expedition cruise and I couldn't help but think of you!!! I wish they would have said hello to you!
Fenris and Grim are the sweetest creatures.always have a feeling of cuddling them.iam from India a great lover of your videos.Cecilia , Christopher you both are so good
Cecilia, I love watching your videos and hearing about your life on Svalbard. I do think the endless daylight and the endless night would be challenging. So I can see how a routine could be important. I'm not a morning person and I like to sleep in but find that I seem tired all the time. I do stay up late and have set my own alarm for 10:00 so I get some routine. I love reading in the morning as well, but it does make me sleepy so I can't read too long at a time.
Fenris just seems like the most tender pup; I think he misses his peeps and y'all are awesome to look after his paws. 🐾💙🤗 Beautiful video. Take care and enjoy the hints of sunsets to come.🇩🇰💕
".........and Christopher and Grim." I like how you.threw that in after your professing your love of coffee. Lol Cuerently enjoying a cup of pumpkin spice this morning, one of my.favorites. I share your love!
The polar days and nights must be such a challenge but such a great experience. I want to experience both the never ending day and night before I die. I love all of your videos. Please keep making them. Thank you!
At 1:14 - I don't recall seeing that view before. Wow! It looks like a giant rock ship rounding the bend! And what an exquisite glimpse of the current Nature where you live - thank you so much! And Fenris enjoying the morning - wah! OMG - I'm the same. If I had to eat only one thing forever, it would be a Mexican combo, or muesli with plain kefir and fresh blueberries. Aaaand...coffee! At 19:00 - Grim melting into the summer tundra - beautiful!
Grim and Fenris snoozing in the fresh air 🥰 I definitely am more of a polar nights person, good to see you and Chris making an effort to keep your sleep patterns regular, love your appreciation of all the nature around you, which never fails to make me smile and wish I was also in Svalbard x❤
You said your favourite time of day is cosy time and it is reflected in your videos. They give me that cosy feeling when I watch them. I love to snuggle up with a cup of tea and watch your video and I know it'll make me feel good. You seem like a wonderful person and you deserve all the success. Love your videos
It is amazing that your warm season is so short. I just commented to Julie my wife that I feel fall coming already. I so love our seasons and the length of each season we have here in Missouri. I expect snow soon in your videos. Cheers to Christopher and you.
I think every day on Svalbard is an extraordinary day! So beautiful!! My dream is to live in the arctic for at least 2 years! Thank you for sharing the beauty of your surroundings
That is so interesting watching your dog sniffing the grass/flowers and gently licking the dew off the grasses. So serene. A beautiful video, thanks. And I approve of the Earl Grey (my fave). I am also trying to start new habits like getting up early, delaying my caffeine, journalling and getting morning light to resetting my circadian rhythm. Haha! I am not a good cook and also love breakfast food. Yours looks amazing btw.
Ooh, I think I was the first viewer. It's 1.24am NZ standard time here and our days are starting to get longer again. This winter I've really struggled to get up at 7.30am. As spring comes, I should start waking up earlier naturally as the sun comes out. Our winter has probably got similar temperatures to your summer on Svalbard though our days are shorter. Grim and Fenris are such darlings. I hope Fenris's feet settle down soon. Can't be much fun for the poor boy. Monty (Chihuahua mix) has had skin allergies before and that wasn't much fun for him. I love your positive attitude. It helps me feel more positive. One day I'll get to Svalbard and would love to meet you, Christoffer and Grim.
I have been following you on Instagram for a while now, but when I find out your TH-cam channel I have not stopped watching your videos and loved all of them 💕
You are living my dream life. Living in a suburb in Indiana usa. So boring. Its been a long humid 90 degree summer. I'm counting down the days for fall and sun going down at 4:00 pm. I love winter and the dark also. I get so excited to see your new videos. Hope you have a blessed day! Thank you again for being here. Its my getaway! 🙂
OMG Im so proud of you! Small accomplishments are so important for me when I’m making progress or changes. I LOVE to sleep and have quiet cozy time so I completely resonante with your comfort sleeping and reading. Well done!!!
The tranquility of beginning the day solo with a cup of tea or coffee and walking Grim in the morning, especially in the solitude of such a beautiful landscape, brings peace to my heart. I am watching your video as I have my own coffee and prepare to walk my Havanese puppy Chewie (Chewbacca Binary DeSolo) down to Sandy Beach and the Treadwell Gold Mine trails here in Juneau, Alaska. I completely understand and appreciate the peaceful solitude of experiencing nature with a canine companion.
Hi Cecilia! Watching your videos bring me so much joy! I live in Manhattan...Yup in the middle of everywhere and with other eighth million people. I dream of visiting Svalbard, seeing the northern lights, and taking tons of pictures. Big hugs to Grim and Fenris!
I love the contrast in your personalities it’s actually kind of refreshing and I love watching your life these videos are so calming and I love watching them when I need some peace! 💖🌸💖
I love you so much. You’re videos are so refreshing. The longer the better. So excited this morning to see a new one. Thank you and please don’t ever stop or shorten these lovelies.
Your videos are so enjoyable. You are both such nice and fun people. I enjoy those mornings alone too along with coffee. I’m watching your video now in the quiet. Beautiful dogs! Your pup probably enjoyed the company. We live in the northwoods of the Keweenaw Peninsula surrounded by abundant wildlife. However I don’t need the shot gun for polar bears. The black bears here are more like big dogs. The wolves don’t like to be seen. Thanks for the fun video. ☀️🙌🏻
I agree so much! Having some me time in the morning (and a sunrise) is the best way to start the day! Really love the editing in this video, so calming and beautiful!
This would make me mad in my existence... What I love about your sharing your life with us something very wonderful and private, too. It's an education watching you live in that environment...
I love your videos all the time, but really loved this one. Grimm is such a beautiful dog. Poor Christopher, he looked so tired. The countryside around your cabin is just simply beautiful. I cannot wait for autumn & winter. ❤️
I can relate to your sleep difficulties except I'm the opposite of most people. I have a circadian rhythm condition that makes me tired during the daytime and as soon as the sun sets I am wide awake with a ton of energy. Midnight sun would probably have me sleeping constantly. I break out in hives and get heat stroke in direct sunlight too, its part of my environmental allergies. I just adore Grim and Fenris, they are so adorable! I lost my dog to cancer the end of May 🙁
How I wish I could instantly appear and visit you. The cool dampness and the low hanging clouds. It is so hot here in southern California. 5 minutes outside in the afternoon heat and I'm ready for a nap.
I love these types of videos....so chill and you always capture the wonderment of the landscape so beautifully, Cecilia. Also, love seeing the dogs and Christofer chillng, and the amazing music you used for this video....so relaxing. ❤️❤️
I've been following your lovely channel for quite awhile now and I've never been disappointed. This is the first time I believe I've made a comment. I just wanted to tell you I love watching your interesting life. I love your sweet dog and his brother. And of course Christopher. You are a wonderful photographer! The beautiful pictures and videos are both touching and breathtaking! I also love how you get so excited to celebrate and decorate for Christmas 🌲! I'm looking forward to that season again along with the polar night season. Takes a strong person to endure the gorgeous, yet intimidating darkness for so long. I think of it as a canvas for the starry night skies and the aurora borealis that all dance and change giving you a different show every 'night'. I imagine the hidden mountains and wildlife out there in the darkness. It's like another world. Then...when polar day begins to rise, my goodness! So beautiful as the darkness slowly transitions to light to display the beautiful mountains and ocean. All the wild life that were hidden in the darkness are like coming to life again. It's like watching the world awaken to remind us of the beauty that may have been hidden for awhile, however, not hidden at the same time. It's all still there in the darkness just waiting to inspire us yet again as to what an awesome place Svalbard is! Anyway, there aren't enough words to describe my thoughts of the beautiful place you live. Just wanted to thank you for your channel and all you do to share your experiences with us. Please tell Christopher we appreciate him as well. Give the doggies a hug! 🐾💙. I look forward to all your videos and photography. Take care and be safe. Yvonne
“Do you want breakfast?” Christoffer trying to politely figure out a way to say “not if you’re making it…” 😂 struggles of a pro chef…his standards are high!
😍....... ur vids always bring me a sense of peace. Beautiful job as always!. Love seeing the heavy dew settled on the tundra, great music choices too. Just all around MAGICAL 💕
I have been watching your videos, from North Carolina, since last autumn and I absolutely love them. Last winter I would see the sun and think of you and now I see the dark and think of you lol. Please keep those videos coming.
I just discovered your channel. I find Svalbard absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing your life with us. Establishing a bit of a routine seems like a healthy thing to do no matter where you live but I can see how especially important it is when you live where there is no nighttime.
Fenris licking and smelling the flowers was so majestic 🥺💖 pure bliss
I'm in love with Fenris. Such a gentle looking dog. Cute fuzzy face too!
I thought it was Fenrick. 🤔
@@missysanders8064 No, it is Fenris
I thought the doggies became vegetarian :) so cute and always look smiley...

this!! i would give anything to live here, but i couldn't take being away from trees :')

Do you ever consider getting blackout curtains for the living room to make it feel like night time during the polar day?
I was thinking the same thing! We definitely would have the windows blacked out in the evening.
Came here for this. I work third shift, and they are CROOSH.
My mom works nights as a nurse and couldn't live without her blackout curtains. I'm kind of surprised they don't have them? Although maybe they are hard to get up there.

I watch Kara & Nate as well!😂 I suggested they say Hi! to Cecilia & gang!!😉
Watch them too!
Thank you for sharing! Really makes me wish I could fly, so I could see this all in person! Have a great week!
“Believe something higher … I mean I believe in coffee” …. 🙌🏼☕️ I like your quick wit
Fenris just seems like the most tender pup; I think he misses his peeps and y'all are awesome to look after his paws. 🐾💙🤗
Beautiful video. Take care and enjoy the hints of sunsets to come.🇩🇰💕
".........and Christopher and Grim." I like how you.threw that in after your professing your love of coffee.
Lol Cuerently enjoying a cup of pumpkin spice this morning,
one of my.favorites.
Tom Scott's newsletter brought me to your channel and its awesome!
Hey, i think, this is one of your best Videos. I love it! Thank you! 🙂
Wow, thank you! 😍
You said your favourite time of day is cosy time and it is reflected in your videos. They give me that cosy feeling when I watch them. I love to snuggle up with a cup of tea and watch your video and I know it'll make me feel good. You seem like a wonderful person and you deserve all the success. Love your videos
Really wonderful!! I watched almost breathless…thanks so much! With love from Holland.🇱🇺
Oh my gosh it looks absolutely beautiful. I love the fog, dew and the sounds of the nature. I can imagine the wonderful smells
It is amazing that your warm season is so short. I just commented to Julie my wife that I feel fall coming already. I so love our seasons and the length of each season we have here in Missouri. I expect snow soon in your videos. Cheers to Christopher and you.
You have come a very far way with how much your video skills have improved. Very impressive.
I love that your tea bags just prompted you to think about coffee ☕️☀️
Your videos give me peace. Thank you.
Absolutely love Below deck, just love all the arguments and drama that goes on . Great vlog by the way .
Great job on this video, Cecilia! it really capture that soft, slow and whimsical mood
I’ve started watching you before sleep. Totally love!❤❤❤
I love how you organized your tea drawer.
Thank you to Tom Scott for sending me here, nice to see something different and interesting. I loved to see the dog smelling the flowers!
Loved you checking that Grim was not dead! Been there, done that!
I lost my dog to cancer the end of May 🙁
So enjoyable and relaxing Cecilia, the full 24 of daylight must be hard to get used to. Very enjoyable video. and thanks for sharing.
Your video helped me to feel peaceful today. Thanks for sharing parts of your life with strangers.
Two beautiful dogs appreciating nature. So sweet.
I love that you make everything an experience. Even lighting the candle felt relaxing!
How I wish I could instantly appear and visit you. The cool dampness and the low hanging clouds. It is so hot here in southern California. 5 minutes outside in the afternoon heat and I'm ready for a nap.
Hi Cecilia! Sending you, Christoffer and Grim my love. Happy Sunday!!!! 🌻🌻🌻
Yvonne
Worked a Winter in Antarctica, and sleep depravation was a pain. But those days were a spectacular view.
Always enjoy your videos, your life is so unique and relaxing, thank you again for sharing your amazing busy life.
Lovely video. Beautifull dogs very layed back and easy going. Love the food you cooked too. Hello and take care from Nottingham UK
I think this will be the third polar night i have been watching you. ❤
“Do you want breakfast?”
Christoffer trying to politely figure out a way to say “not if you’re making it…” 😂 struggles of a pro chef…his standards are high!
Lol 😂
Tbf I took it as, "I realize you've been up for 4 hours but I've been up for 5min. I'd like silence please. Just for a moment..." 😂😂
Maybe he doesn't want egg whites for breakfast. Maybe she could have asked him what he wants for breakfast.
lol
@@MandeeLibertyyes! 😂
😍....... ur vids always bring me a sense of peace. Beautiful job as always!. Love seeing the heavy dew settled on the tundra, great music choices too. Just all around MAGICAL 💕
This was so healing after a long work week this is what I needed ♥️
Love your videos! Starting watching a week ago and it looks like you’ve gained 7K followers since then. Good for you!
I have been watching your videos, from North Carolina, since last autumn and I absolutely love them. Last winter I would see the sun and think of you and now I see the dark and think of you lol. Please keep those videos coming.
Good morning Cecilia !
Enjoy your Sunday!
🌞
Those dogs melt my heart. Good for you trying a routine. Xx love your work. Thank you for sharing your lives with us.
I just discovered your channel. I find Svalbard absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing your life with us. Establishing a bit of a routine seems like a healthy thing to do no matter where you live but I can see how especially important it is when you live where there is no nighttime.
You live such an extraordinary life! Your videos are such a treasure to watch and experience!
Some gorgeous photography as always Cecelia...thank you
