We rented two and rode around a national park here in the states. I did find out that pedaling helps charge the battery. The seats were very uncomfortable for our big butts so next time I'll take the seats from our schwinns.

That’s why we lose weight pre tour. Because a) we can fit into our clothes b) we are fitter for long touring hours but mostly c) we eat everything when on tour!
It was a push for the SA tour as we only had three weeks from booking to going.

Great bike!! I've been thinking about getting back into cycling again and a ebike would be a lot of fun and certainly extend the range of riding. I'm so looking forward the SA trip, from the teaser it looks like it was an epic adventure!!
Oh yes! Ebike is tons of fun. Although, I see it as cheating so I ride further. One ride my legs wouldn’t work when I got home and I struggled to get off the thing!
@@carolynemoolenschot2907 I wouldn't consider it cheating unless you did your whole bike ride on electric! lol I've seen a lot more e-bikes around my city (Tucson) and they certainly can do the posted speed limit in some parts of the city!! I think they are great alternative to a regular cycle because I could see doing grocery shopping on it and be able to get home with the groceries and still get a work out to boot!

@@BunnyKingHogs BTW my wife and I bought ebikes very similar to that one last winter. We didn't get to use them as much as we wanted to due to one of our dogs having major surgery in May and was to be watched 24 hours a day and the recovery period was 4 to 5 months. We really did enjoy the rides we did get in. You can zip along quite fast without much effort. We got the dual battery setup on ours so we have about 80-100 miles of range in low boost.
Looks like your having fun, motor is over 250 watt and it goes faster than allowed unless you register it.

Ff they supply electrical assistance when travelling at more than 25kph (15.5mph), have a motor which generates more than 250 Watts of power or motor assistance can be provided without the bike's pedals being in motion, they will be legally treated as a moped or motorcycle. As such it is illegal to ride on the road without road tax and insurance. ;)

Also the button that powered it without pedalling also makes it illegal currently, as that isn't pedal assist, that's just motorised. So always pedal when a cop is behind you. @@BunnyKingHogs (Although unless you crash into someone I think they'll prioritise other things)

@@BunnyKingHogs I am in Cape Town .. when you did the off-road bike trip a little earlier in the year in SA I also recommended you make a turn in Cape Town.
Besides the great riding, you will also be in a vast area with some exceptional wines and restaurants.

Sorry to put the dampers on things but the cycle you have is illegal to ride on the road .
More than 250W and having a throttle is illegal except for private roads.
Getting fit on that bike is not going happen.

It has a limiter and the throttle is optional. It does help with the hills in the area. So I can ride for longer.

That Cyrusher XF650 is THROTTLE CONTROLLED and that in the UK is technically ILLEGAL??? Likewise above 650w which electric bike power must conform to unless ILLEGALLY MODDED. !! Great bike.. don't get me wrong.. but getting stopped and having the bike taken off you because ??? Lot of respect for you guys.. looking forward to your S Africa trip BUT !!! been there ... NOT my choice again EVER...

This certainly shows you that reading the Instructions and aquianting yourself with the controls on it, around the house, before going out on the roads and endangering the general public, has a lot to be said about consuming the paperwork before riding eBikes.

Not to be the Debbie Downer but I miss those days of riding my bike everywhere as a kid. You see 43 yrs ago I was paralyzed in a motorcycle accident. No I can’t ride a trike etc, but heavens sake people god gave you legs to walk and peddle bike. Are we becoming so lazy that you have to now have help to peddle a damn bike? Give me that ability to walk again and I’d be very grateful to be able to peddle a bike and not complain about it. The reason people are out of shape us because things gave gotten to easy, like riding in cars. You push a pedal and you go, nothing to it. Try walking more. And be more grateful for the things hod gave you like the ability to get off your asses.

We gain about 10lbs each tour so try and take that much off before hand. Actually, usually we go for more as we are often chubby chubby. We have issues saying no.
