  • Test rode the Harley Davidson Pan America 1250 - what an amazing bike! Other than the Road King and the Deluxe, I haven't ridden any other bikes. This was my first experience of an Adventure Touring bike, I loved it! Unfortunately things didn't go quite to plan. It was super windy an unfortunately Brian's Audio was useless. Enjoy and Please a comment. AND PLEASE SHARE

If you can't come to the USA you can buy his Training Videos.. You need to set up some cones in a big parking lot and learn these riding tequnics.. It has to do with riding the rear brake while you slipp the clutch a little bit.. Also practice in a parking lot where you don't have to be worried about being run over by a car..

Honest mistake. It's best to avoid changing gears in a corner, especially around that 1-N-2 gear range. It's easy to miss that when your parked, cornering just makes it that much harder. Glad you're okay.
I've dropped my R1200GS at least 8 times - most often because my foot slipped out when I stopped on dirt or gravel, once on wet leaves. Lost it once turning on gravel that turned out to be deeper than it looked - the front wheel lost grip - and down I went. If you want to feel better about dropping an adventure bike - watch the Long Way Round.

@@carolynemoolenschot2907 OK, I'll tell you that I've never dropped mine!
Oh , it's easy to lie when you can't see me laughing.
I've just had flashbacks to at least half a dozen times when I just felt like a total dork! The worst was some industrial lorry car park out on an industrial estate between Dartford and Woolwich on a wet afternoon in February when the engine of my bike trapped my foot. I was unhurt, no damage to the bike - but I couldn't get my foot out. I was lying in a puddle in the rain! I must have tapped SOS out on the horn 10 or 20 times with no response.
I was there to pick up a package.
I had been about 10 minutes on the ground when someone came looking for me, wondering why it took me so long to get one end of the huge warehouse to the other; I had already asked for the package at the wrong end of the warehouse!

@@BunnyKingHogs if you ever ride this style of bike again (first video I've ever seen of yours, so maybe you have); the easiest way to get on/off of an adventure style bike is to actually step up on the foot peg first, then swing your other leg over the bike. Gets you up a few inches and make it easier get your leg over, especially when there are panniers or other luggage on the back. Getting off is just the reverse, put the side stand down then stand up on the foot pegs and swing your right over. What an epic road test! Great video as always guys, super funny and well edited. So glad you are ok Carolyn and great job getting back on and riding home. As everyone here has said we all drop our bikes. I did almost exactly the same thing with my GSXR750 years ago turning round a sharp turn in my work car park. A great example as to why we wear full face crash helmets as well. I hope this has not put you off trying other motorcycles and styles of motorcycles as well, although not all of them will have room for a 🥖!!

Well done Carolyne - so what? You had a little tumble, nothing to be gutted or ashamed of (we all have them at some time) at the end of the day the only thing that really got hurt was your pride - but you dealt with the situation and got straight back on.
And so you’ve written another page in the book of you biking adventures & experiences. 🙂
Brian - top dude! You lay your King on it’s side and just jumped to her aid.. what a gent! (not many of us White Knights left mate 😉) you handled it all very calmly and that was all Carolyne needed (the rock of assurance).

Caroline, You did something amazing that not many riders would have done. You got back on after a faceplant. You were upset, sore and a good distance from home. But you calmed yourself down, got back on, and rode it home. I am proud of you! This should be a confidence builder for you, as this wasn't just laying the bike down. This was a high-side crash that threw you into the ground. Those are the events that build character in a rider's life. Brian, I am in no doubt sure that you are proud of Caroline too for expanding her motorcycle experience and keeping herself together. You two make a great team!! That was a very tricky situation and unless you've had years of off-road experience where shit like that happens all the time, you just don't act quickly enough. My favorite bike in the garage is my BMW GSA 1250. It's sporty and goes anywhere, including off-road to 14,000 feet in the Colorado mountains. They also sit tall and I feel safest on this bike and can easily look over cars. That said, they're tall and some are top heavy...it's no surprise the HD you rode had been dumped. You're genuine and honest, putting this out there for all to see, so don't be too hard on yourself...shit happens. Glad you're safe!

It’s hard for people to hop on a different style of bike. I have a 2018 Goldwing and 07 BMW R1200R. Takes a few miles to get used to difference in speed and handling. I noticed in a lot of videos of people traditionally HD riders and you go to something with performance it’s a leap. Most aren’t used to the increased lean angle. Glad you didn’t get to damaged.

You know I watched this yesterday and thought about your reaction. Your reaction, to me, showed concern for the equipment lent to you more than the concern for your ego or status with your viewers (hence showing us instead of editing it out).
Brian’s reaction to what happened, his total lack of concern for anything else but your condition, was perfect! I can think of many riders who would take the time and put the stand down before attending a downed rider, he didn’t. It showed what was truly important to him, life over property.
Why this happened. You were riding an unfamiliar bike, on an unfamiliar road. An uphill hairpin would challenge anyone that hasn’t spent a lot of time in the saddle on similar roads.
Don’t beat yourself up too bad, you walked away from it, relatively uninjured. Material things can be fixed, or replaced, Bruised egos gotten over.
Glad you weren’t hurt any worse, and GOOD JOB BRIAN!!

Hi Carolyne, Don't ever feel bad about dropping a bike, we've all done it and you did well to ride it home. I have about 5K of dirt road to get to the bitumen her in Aus and it gets bl###y slippery when it's wet. I've come off quite a few times, or taken an "off road" detour in the wet. Doesn't matter the size of bike either some were on a 250 Virago. Keep up the good work and can't wait for your next adventure.

Another great video! Such a shame Carolyne finding neutral at such a difficult moment. Don't worry you tend to fall off less with experience and those roads around Derbyshire can be very technically demanding, most riders would occasionally struggle on such large bikes.
