My Internet bill went up from the promotional $40 a month to $70. Canceled the account and opened a new one in my wife's name and now it's back to $40 a month. Thanks for the advice!
Ogopa you shouldn’t have to pay an installation Fee if it’s the same company you’re signing up with and they allow self installs.(worked for spectrum for three years)
DAMN THAT WAS A GOOD VIDEO! - The ads in the video never felt so justified; you gave away hard earned knowledge that you had to spend money on and go through the hassle of dealing with all of this just to give it away for free in this video...AMAZING!!
Right, it's $50 a month for just Wi-Fi with 100mbps...it's ridiculous. Crap, still buffers nonstop and screen always glitches but I can't switch to another provider
Clicked because you look a bit like Big Sean, stayed cause you kinda sound like him when you say certain words, SUBSCRIBED because bruh you make a whole lotta sense. 👌🏿👌🏿💪🏿💪🏿🌻💯
😂 😂 😂 For the record... Big Sean looks like ME. I'm older, lol. Thanks for watching! You aren't the only person that has said that though. I should start my videos by saying "huuuuh".
THANK YOU so much! Wish I had watched this video an hour sooner. The sales person convinced me a credit check was required and my social was too. I fell for it. Sheesh. She also sold me on the Gig plan when I told her I had a router. Canceling the contract now and switching to a plan that's $50 cheaper! Thanks again!
You are so welcome! I need to change the title of this video but I'm glad it helped! You have 30 days to cancel with no issues or fees BTW. Don't let them make you think otherwise!
I love that the "transcript" is included in this video along with the notes. Really helped me a lot, I am moving into a small apartment and did not see the need for expensive internet. I have watched so many videos and read so many reviews and only walked away with a little information that could potentially help me. Your video went into depth about all my questions and more.Thank you
Back in 2015 TWC sent me to collections for equipment that wasn't returned. The thing is I had my own equipment. It ended up getting getting resolved and removed from my credit report, but it was a complete pain. I asked really important questions which helped my case. They never contacted me via mail, phone, or email. Their system also showed that I had my own equipment. I'm gonna be switched to a complete mobile internet solution on a prepaid basis. Great video!
This was a very informative video, thank you! I was on the phone with a company just before finding this video, and of course they asked for my SSN. Thankfully I knew there's no reason they needed it, so I refused and then did some more research which is how I found this video.
Really glad I watched this before signing up! I just left the Xfinity store and the sales rep asked for my SS# and when I asked why, he said it was to "run a credit check" 😒 I must have had this look on my face, so he quickly said 'if you don't want to give it, you just have to pay a $25 deposit that will be put towards your 1st bill". Of course I'd MUCH rather do that! And how is that an alternative to running a credit check?! These businesses are so shady lol and I bought my own Netgear modem/router from Walmart. I do think I signed a contract though...I didn't realize it though😕 Also, in your description you have the same links for both the Motorola and Netgear modems
Thanks for telling us about your experience! Some people think I'm lying for some odd reason, lol. But if it's within 30 days you can call and adjust the contract. After the 30 days you'll be locked in. Sometimes the contract isn't bad though, it might guarantee a cheap rate for 2 years! If so, keep it. Thanks for the heads up on the links too! I'll look into that!
@@ToolDeals I actually have an update to this: While I did not give an SS#, a credit check was still run by Comcast according to my credit monitoring app. That lead to a hard inquiry on my credit report, which is annoying. So it looks like even if they give you the option to pay a deposit, they will still run a credit check if they have your other information...
@@IjeomaThePlantMama They weren't supposed to. The rep clearly didn't know what he was doing. I've been learning about CPNI and what companies can and can't do with your information and I'm pretty sure that rep just committed a crime. Most people wouldn't worry about it, but the result was damaging. I'm not sure what could happen from here but I could find out for you in a few days. Sorry that happened to you!
Just found your video. My Comcast rate just increased-no surprise there, so searching for internet/wifi services. OMG! Your info answered all the questions i had, thank you! Bye bye Comcast!
Great video bro! I'm looking to cut the cord when I move into my first home within the next month. Question: what service do you use to watch live TV if any?
True! The only thing about that is potential abuse, but if it works out the box, it should be fine for a while. Thanks for watching and for the suggestion.
Amazing advice- just cancelled my cox preferred for 250 mbps cause they were charging me 87.99 a month. Called back to the cox store instead of there online customer service number and let them know I didn’t want to give my social or have my credit run and got the same internet plan for 49.99 a month!!! They didn’t even charge me a deposit cause I opted out of getting their modem cause I have my own. 10/10 stuff
We just got the performance select internet plan and just cancelled the installation of the modem. My question is how much of a difference would speeds be with their modem or a modem you listed in the description? Xfinity is surprisingly fast right now via hotspot, getting 27 download and 5 upload speed but will this increase or decrease over time? with or without a modem?
Thanks Man. Fine research work. Knowledge is power & shared knowledge is double the power. Our hood is in the "Good Old Boy" -system (FL). I would be curious to learn: how to split the TV and i-net services and JUST watch an IP-TV. Streaming rules. Way we watch TV has forever changed for the better. Stay Safe.
Ha! You're welcome! If s rep gives you a hard time just tell them you'll think about it and call back at a different time. Or, you can always just go online. It gives you the option to skip the credit check for most companies.
Watched this video right on time. Bought my modem router and saved $70 on installation. Then when they “reviewed my placed order” they tried saying I agreed to 1 yr contract. Had them fix that right there, nice try Xfinity
Nice! Always stay on top of that package. You have 30 days to make adjustments for anyone else reading this comment. Even if they do put you in a contract and that's not what you wanted you can change it without penalty within the first 30 days of getting service.
@@ToolDeals I signed up with ATT last year with 14 day satisfied guarantee. Called within 14 days, and the lady wouldn't let me out. Called back and talked with another guy who agree to let me out. Over a year later, I called ATT to sign up on fiber optics Internet, and they did a credit check saying I owe $265 for cancelling. Just talked to the sales for ATT, and they said they still have 14 day satisfied guarantee. I'm writing ATT President's Office to tell them. Thanks for your video. Very helpful. ATT still wants $100 set up fee or credit check with SS number.
So glad I found you! I moved back into my home in July and have been in protest mode for not getting internet because I hate being ripped off. Been using my hotspot on my phone, which is getting old. I will research and try purchasing my own modem and router. I am the most non-tech savvy person. But I will try it. I just subscribed so I'll let you know how I make out.
Are there any devices outside of big companies that work just as good? Almost like a mobile hotspot but even stronger and faster. The one on my phone don't work for streaming services anymore all slow and crappy now
That's a REALLY good question Nathalia. From what I've seen no, and I've given up on trying to find anything. I used to use Clearwire 10 years ago when they existed. They were the best during the time. They advertised the same speeds as Comcast, but because of it receiving it's signal wirelessly, then transmitting the signal wirelessly, it was a clear difference between a hard wired line and wireless. Their home modems were a little better but they've long gone out of business. I'm thinking in the future we'll see cheap alternatives. Comcast actually has a really cheap alternative for qualified customers, and Elon Musk will be rolling out a satellite internet that's supposed to be faster and cheaper than everyone else as well. Lastly, 5G should give us options straight from our phones, hopefully they do away with the data caps though. Seems like there's some type of "gotcha" on every front. But if anyone else knows of anything feel free to chime in!
Hey Chris, thank you for this video. I have a question, I live in Anchorage Alaska, do you believe any of the following recommendations would work in Alaska? Also, I may not sure I understood your video in full, when I purchase one of the recommendations, will I still need to have internet from another company in order for my choice of recommendation to work? I am looking for something that will provide my household with full internet access without needing to go through an outsider, if it's even possible to do. Thank you Chris.
Sorry for the late response! But you'll definitely still need some type of outside company. I'm not sure what your options are up there. But from glancing it looks like GCI is the fastest followed by Alaska communications. I also see none are REALLY unlimited either. not without spending almost $200 per month, ouch! So it depends on what you do online. If you stream it might make more sense to go unlimited. But I'd just get T-mobile and stream via my laptop, phone or tablet because it's unlimited free streaming with them, and get the $99/mo plan with GCI since that'll give you 400GB's per month at 200mpbs download. Hope that helps and sorry I'm so late! You're in one of those isolated areas where my general advice doesn't always apply fully. but you can still definitely buy you own equipment. It also appears that GCI is a cable internet company.
It depends on where you live. What city are you in? I recommend any cable or fiber optic service. Something that can get you at least 50mbps for less than $50/mo. I have Verizon and Comcast where I live now and currently use Comcast, BUT Verizon actually has a sweet deal that I would've gone with had they had it before I got Comcast. $39.99/mo for 200mbps, a $50 gift card, and Disney + free for 12 months... I don't think anyone has anything that good. I don't know if it's a contract though. If it's a 2 year contract I wouldn't take that deal, but if it's no contract? I'd be all over it.
Chris Knows I’m from south Texas and the big hitters are spectrum and at&t 50mps is around 50$ promotion for the year. Thanks for the reply man been trying to use hotspot for my ps4 but it’s useless and haven’t had internet for a while because I didn’t wanna fall into the ongoing trap after the 12 month promotion
Brother I just moved to Arizona in an APT complex and want to know what can I do to pay the cheapest ? Should I buy my own modem & router ? I still need a service provider for that ?
Internet is a privilege. People who have power sometimes don’t know how to use it wisely. Sometimes, instead of managing your time off the screen (TV, phone, games), people tend to be “obsessed” with their “eyes glued to the screen”
Hey Allan, great question! A modem is what gives your home internet access. A router takes that internet access and makes it wireless. So if you want wireless internet, you need both. They have units that do both, as well as units that are a modem, router, and telephone line as well. Most people would do fine getting a unit that has the modem and router all in one. I'll put a link in the description box for some good ones, but always be sure to check with your internet provider to see if it's compatible with their service. It's usually only a few to choose between and most people end up with a Motorola. Hope this helps!
I’m getting Verizon, it didn’t say anything about if you have your own modem, but for the router it asked if I have my own which I said yes to since I didn’t want to rent their bad routers.
They always add the modem without asking you. On occasion they may run promo's where that's free, but seldom do they do that. You should call and ask them if you can use your own modem and how much that would discount your bill. It might be anywhere from $8-$15/mo
Chris Knows they said it comes with the package deal, it’s just the router was an option since I’m a new customer. The router was the only thing that asked me if I wanted to rent theirs for $15 a month. I got the 300/300mbs deal. Which router do you recommend getting?
If I have already rented the internet router, can I cancel and buy my own? Also, would you recommend the Motorola or the NetGear. I live in Iowa and century link is our provider. We barely get 10 Mbps a month for 45 a month and that with the modem rented. I gonna move out of Iowa once I graduate from college.
Sheesh! Thanks for watching, but absolutely you can add your own modem any time. I just moved (hence the reason I haven't made any videos. SUPER busy with this house.) and we have Comcast now. haven't had them in years but I just took their modem off Monday. I had to rent it the first couple of weeks while I unpacked and found my old modem and router. For some reason I had 2 modems and 3 routers... smh, lol. eBay to the rescue! You also have my condolences for the internet speed. We're getting 200MBPS. But honestly 10Mbps isn't TERRIBLE if you are using 1-2 items on the network at a time. People think they need 100+ but you don't need it to stream well. You just need to make sure a lot of devices aren't online at the same time. I'll make a follow-up video soon. Once we get settled in this house and I'm out of training at work I'll have some more time. But I have some more info on cheap internet to share!
Now you do! Go ahead and save you some money! The bills can get out of hand once that promo is up, and now you know not to give any of them your social.
Sorry for the delayed response, but you can use a DVR for that. There are options such as Tivo. Check out "Tv recorder" on Amazon and read reviews to find a good one.
I just bought a house and moved into it last week. Because of the previous owners habit of not paying bills over 20 years and other people not paying bills in their name over the same 20 years (I’m assuming he had people put bills in their name when utilities in his name would get shut off) I had to put down pretty hefty deposits on all my utilities because of his history and my wife and I have good credit. None of my utilities were even going to budge on this.
They were taking advantage of the fact that you NEED these things. If that happens again, and for anyone watching, you offer to show them some closing documents of their choice, or a new lease showing that you just moved in. You can also show them a previous bill from your last residence showing that you paid on time and once again proving you didn't live there prior to now. Sorry that happened to you! These corporations typically have themselves only in mind.
Chris Knows Thanks for the advice man. I live your channel! Yeah I had a feeling there was a way around it but I didn’t have time to argue because the final week of us buying our house we extremely hectic and that’s when I called them. If I had had time I would have definitely fought it. By the way you said in the DC area. Is that where you are located? I am that’s why I am asking lol
For the home? Well, most companies kind of run like that as it is. Comcast/Xfinity is one of the only ones I have experience with that still try to ask for people's social security number. I really love Spectrum, they don't ask for anything but your address phone number and email. Even Verizon, while it's no contract or anything, they still ask for some identifying information to, "Make sure you're the one signing up". But that's still BS because if it's paid for it's paid for. They don't need to know your name! Other than that if you're talking about mobile internet, though it's fast for a couple devices, I wouldn't recommend it for long-term use in the house. Especially if you're gaming or streaming.
Chis what if you already gave your ss # is there a way to retract it? I just got a place for the first time and I was naive about the process. I would greatly appreciate your knowledge and help. Thank you!
Unfortunately there's no way to back out now. Next time you sign up when you move be sure to give them a different phone number than the one you gave them this time and refuse the social. In the future, if you give them your number you have now, they'll STILL associate it with your social!
Chris Knows I got scammed by Xfinity and they’re saying I owe money for a box and I have to pay $300 to even my balance before getting wifi. If I have a new phone number and refuse the SS# they won’t be able to know it’s the same account based on my name? I’m a college student and NEED wifi especially right now being quarantined
Thanks for this info CHRIS. Appreciate you bruh. Could you do a video on the difference between cable internet vs Mobile hotspot internet or mifi. I see a lot of people debating that mifi is cheaper then cable internet but not sure about the performance level versus cable internet. Also I currently use Verizon Fios for just internet. I started out years ago with the triple play but realized it was non useful to me so eventually I dropped that and got rid of the phone and cable and just kept the internet. But now My contract expired but I wanna keep the internet but just get rid of the rental equipment and get my own to bring the bill down some more.
That's an EXCELLENT idea! I used to work for Clearwire which offered mobile hotspot (MiFi) internet as well as home internet using the same technology, they inevitably went under as it was for people who couldn't get any internet at home but satellite. I'll definitely make that video explaining the difference. Bottom line, if you can get it with one of the major players especially, cable internet is the way to go due to bandwidth issues, streaming, and price. That's a great idea, I'd also shop around and see who else is in your area. If it's Spectrum (They own Cox, BrightHouse, Time Warner, and Charter now) or Comcast you can cancel Verizon altogether, and get a promo with someone else and buy your own equipment. Should bring your bill to around $45 per month or so.
This is the site I use to find providers in areas I'm thinking of moving: www.inmyarea.com/internet/ There are also much worse options than Cox and AT&T too! But it would be nice if you could get Spectrum. They're the same type of provider as Cox but have no data caps. I've never tried AT&T's gig service though. Last time I had AT&T was over a decade ago using DSL and I hated it. Good luck!
I contacted my old provider to get 60 day free internet for school. They insisted they needed my ssn to make sure we didn’t have a bill. We don’t have a bill with them and it wouldn’t be under my name. But if they needed to check for a “bill” is there something else I could provide them with.
Got a few questions for you that maybe you can answer... I am freshly poor af and I always see ppl say they cut the cord . Like what exactly does that mean ? Don’t they have to get cable with internet anyways ? Aren’t they all only package deals together and not just separate services ? Am I able to get just internet without the cable service ? I hate cable and only need internet to stream Netflix and Pluto and such. Can I just ask for internet without cable ? And I can’t believe it cost 50+ for damn internet a month! That’s a crap load of money. 30 max I was thinking. So any info on these puzzling questions ? Thank you and I subbed
You can usually just get internet service from your provider without bundling TV service. However, most providers will try to convince you that you do need cable and will often try to lure you with "good deals" if you bundle but you don't absolutely have to. The price will vary depending on where you live and the plan you choose. As usual they love to throw in random fees and crap like that without telling you, so you may want to double check the price.
Jose spoke some truth! But to answer your main question, yes, you can just get internet and them stream. That's what people mean by they cut the cord, but it's a silly saying because... you still need that "cord" for internet, lol. UNLESS they're just running everything from their cell phone which is also possible, but you won't be watching anything on a TV. You can watch from your phone, a tablet, or a laptop. When I was newly poor in 2018 that's what me and my wife did. We just tethered our hotspot from our cell phone to our laptop and watched as much as we wanted. In fact, we got so used to it we just recently started watching movies on our TV's lol. We have T-Mobile and with bingeOn we can tether to a laptop or a tablet and it won't use any of your data. Also, something we didn't know then, if you qualify for something like food stamps (which you should never be ashamed to get if you need it) you can get Comcast internet for $10/mo, no contract, no credit check. Check out my other video on how to do that. It works with a lot more programs than just food stamps too. th-cam.com/video/gEkLjPIjosY/w-d-xo.html
Hello. Thank you for this video it help me understand a lot more. My new cable bill is $190/month, smh. I just bought 7 new Roku for my tv's and I am going to take your suggestion on buying my own modem and router from amazon. I really need some help in understanding the landline service you suggested and how to use Hula and Amazon Prime? I have had my landline service for umpteen years and don't want to loose my landline and number. What is the name of the service Uma??? Thank you for your help:)
Hi! Thanks for watching. Hopefully I'm not too late in helping you. So yeah, that bill is bananas. What provider do you have? So the Roku's will give you the advantage of turning your TV's into smart TV's. If you bought a TV within the last 3 or 4 years though, you might already own a smart TV and don't need the Roku for it, so double check your TV's capabilities. To answer your question about the phone line, you can get an Ooma. I should probably do a video on this alone! It uses your internet connection to provide home phone service, but it's free! They do offer a paid plan with all the bells and whistles, but you can use your cell phone if you want all the extra capabilities. Always at least start off with the free version and if you feel it's lacking (I never felt that) you can upgrade. But it comes with call waiting, voicemail, etc. You can also port your number over to them when you sign up. You first buy the kit, you can get it from Amazon: amzn.to/37V0bH7. Once it arrives, read through the instructions and it'll explain how to keep your old number. DO NOT CANCEL YOUR CURRENT PHONE LINE SERVICE! Not for 30 days after the port at least! It'll remind you of this, but I just want to say it again. I think it's a $50 fee to port it over, but after that, you just pay taxes every month which depending where you live could be like $6 or so.
Antenna and library for the tv, visible for phone/internet. $25-$40/month unlimited data. You will have $$$ saved to spend on real fun instead of sitting infront of the tv.
Hello, Chris, you are a Godsend! I love your video and I thank you for sharing! This was incredibly helpful and I did subscribe and like. Do you have any advice on which internet providers are best for the rural areas of Louisiana?
Hey Sheila thanks for your support! It depends on the location. You can go to www.highspeedinternet.com and put in your zip code and it'll give you some choices. From there you can check out each company to see if they service your home. If the speeds aren't super high, you can balance it out by using hotspot on your cell phone. I know my T-Mobile plan has 10GB high speed hotspot on all 7 of my lines and I only pay $156 per month. That effectively gives me 70GBs and we use that for streaming sometimes. When we watch Netflix, Amazon, or even TH-cam it doesn't count against our data due to the binge feature with T-Mobile.
That's a great question Julie! First, you'll have to go to your internet provider's website and search for compatible modems. Most good providers allow you to search for compatible modems by internet speed as well as 2-in-1 units. That's what I'd go by. After you've found a list. Just look on Amazon for the cheapest most reliable one. Look at reviews to see how people like it, and go with that. I don't spend a lot of money on modems and routers. I've done it in the past and they worked no better than the cheaper modems. For instance, I'm now back with Comcast and I'm using an 8 year old Arris modem. I'm using a good router but I got it on sale for like $40 or so many years ago. The two work better than the equipment Comcast installed the first day! Don't over-think it. Shop for your budget and you should be good. Thanks for your helpful question!
Do you think 100Mbps is sufficient if you have gamers in the house? Also, our Comcast reps have always REQUIRED a contract with any sort of promotion that I have ever gotten with them. How do you get around that? If you like live sports, you will not get them with just Amazon Prime, Netflix & Hulu, that can be a problem if you have any sports fanatics in your house. I just signed up for TH-cam TV and am loving it so far. I am cautious about lowering my speed, so that my tv doesn't get interrupted however. I am about to buy my own modem, but don't you need a telphone modem for Ooma?? They are around $200. Btw, this is a GREAT video. I love the information and I am directing all family & friends to watch!
Mann!!! I wished I saw this before. I just got Altice Optimum internet 400 and I am renting there modem and router its costing me $79.00 a month. I'm wondering later can I cancel the renting of the equipment and get my own, like you suggested?
Absolutely you can! You can do that at any point even if you signed a contract. It won't affect your contract other than removing the rental fee. Just be sure to make sure the modem and router you buy is compatible with your service. You can just call your internet provider and ask what type of modems they use. As for the router it can be pretty much anything. You're likely to notice better speeds and more consistent internet service once you get your own equipment.
@FLeX Loud No, not yet. I have to find the most compatible for Optimum 400 and know if they upgrade modems to make you buy new ones instead of just renting theres???
There are a lot, but I'm currently using an old Linksys. I can connect a hard drive with media on it and any device that's connected to it can stream the media on it. Great for music to my Sonos or movies to my Xbox. Take your time researching on Amazon. I bought this one like 6 years ago and it still works like a champ. Getting over 200mbps down no problem. You'll also want a decent modem but again, you don't have to spend a lot. Just make sure it's compatible with your provider for the speed you get. Check their website
@@ToolDeals I got Xfinity prepaid internet and i got i on my bedroom which is the 2nd floor connected my ps4 via lan cable...problem is Living room is in the first floor and I got a 4K Tv over there and cant stream Netflix or other streamin platforms because signal is weak.. What do you recommend me?
@@WAJU4 first do a speed test at speed test.net to see what speed you're getting in your room. Connect a computer to that lan if possible or just stand right over your router and perform the test. If it's at least 25mbps, you know it's likely not your service. Next, check where your router is. Is it beneath something? In an entertainment center? Near other electronics? The ideal position for your router should be up high, uncovered and away from other electronics. Finally, if it's still bad, try relocating the router to a central location. If that's not possible buy a range extender. You can find some on Amazon or buy one from Comcast. Hope that helps!
You would have to see what's available in your area. I also hear that T-Mobile has home internet in a few places for $50 per month with no contract and no rate increase. You can look for internet in your area by following this link: www.inmyarea.com/internet hope this helps!
Hey Nicole sorry I'm just seeing your comment. But I do! LOL, here's the funny thing about commercial accounts. At least back when I was with Comcast, all they did was give you the SAME service but charged more. That was it. I had a bunch of customers who wanted to get it in their business name, but if you do that, it'll just cost more but be the same service. Before you sign up, ask really probing questions about the speed and any data caps. If it's the same as a personal account, just get the personal account.... UNLESS, your business is a C-Corp or an S-Corp. If it's any kind of LLC, it's still tied to your personal SS# and you'll report the income on your personal tax return anyway, so you can still deduct it as an expense. If it's a Corporation, then you'll have to get it in your business name to legally deduct it. That's why it costs more because they know you'll be deducting it. But it's the same service. Hope this helps!
He knows what he's talking about because most of the things he said I've been through and it's the truth and you could take that to the bank or at least the money you save to the bank
What city do you live in? A lot of cities are adopting laws that prevent monopolies like that. While AT&T may have an exclusive agreement with your apartment complex, in a lot of places it's against the law to restrict you. But this depends on the lcation.
@@TheLatatiana yeah the problem with Atlanta is Georgia doesn't have laws that promote competition. So they can have monopolies there and they charge customers whatever they want! The only way to fix that is to request a change in law and vote against utility monopolies unfortunately.
Hi there! I've had internet essentials be ause I had a son in high school. Wondering when it was going to run out. Well, today, there aren't any lights on the modem. I'm wondering if wifi is out in my neighborhood, or if they cut it off. I guess I will wait a few hours, I really don't want to call these people, I know how they operate. If it is the modem it's 6 years old, I'm wondering if I can take it to them and they will give me a new one,? If that is the problem. 🤔
It shouldn't run out at all. They'd have to give you lots of notice in advance. But yeah, very possible it could be the modem. Try resetting the modem first. Unplug it AND unscrew the coax cable from behind it. Wait 60 seconds. Screw in the coax cable FIRST. Then plug it back in and see what happens. If that doesn't help you can take it to an Xfinity store and tell them the modem stopped working and they'll give you a new updated one. Shouldn't cost anything extra. Hope this helps!
Great question. That all depends. You can check Cox's website: www.cox.com/residential/support/cox-certified-cable-modems.html And see if your modem is on that list. Hope this helps! This is also one reason I like Verizon Fios. No need for a modem!

No problem! Proper way to do it!
@@ToolDeals What about the installation fee?
Ogopa you shouldn’t have to pay an installation Fee if it’s the same company you’re signing up with and they allow self installs.(worked for spectrum for three years)

Agreed! I think a few companies are working on that.
@Antonio Ortiz some of us are addicted tho 😔
@Antonio Ortiz You are stupid, people use it for work and homework.
Then the government would provide the service and it would suck.
Shut the fuck up
DAMN THAT WAS A GOOD VIDEO! - The ads in the video never felt so justified; you gave away hard earned knowledge that you had to spend money on and go through the hassle of dealing with all of this just to give it away for free in this video...AMAZING!!
The cable companies are like the mob they each have their turf
Yeah the way they operate pretty fucked up
Right, it's $50 a month for just Wi-Fi with 100mbps...it's ridiculous. Crap, still buffers nonstop and screen always glitches but I can't switch to another provider

Thank you!
You can also apply for affordable internet and get 30 discount monthly
I love that the "transcript" is included in this video along with the notes. Really helped me a lot, I am moving into a small apartment and did not see the need for expensive internet. I have watched so many videos and read so many reviews and only walked away with a little information that could potentially help me. Your video went into depth about all my questions and more.Thank you
Comments like yours make it worth it. Thank you!
Did you work something out? I'm looking up info for my apartment too
Back in 2015 TWC sent me to collections for equipment that wasn't returned.
Yep! Happens all the time! Thanks for watching!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR VALUABLE INFORMATION, I WAS EXTREMELY WORRIED LEAVING COMCAST. GOD BLESS YOU!
No problem! Thanks for watching!
This was a very informative video, thank you! I was on the phone with a company just before finding this video, and of course they asked for my SSN. Thankfully I knew there's no reason they needed it, so I refused and then did some more research which is how I found this video.
Nice! Glad I could help!
I do think I signed a contract though...I didn't realize it though😕
Also, in your description you have the same links for both the Motorola and Netgear modems
Great video bro! I'm looking to cut the cord when I move into my first home within the next month. Question: what service do you use to watch live TV if any?
Live TV is free with apps like Pluto and a bunch of others I can't think of off the top of my head. But that would make a great video!
You can get a used cable modem on ebay for less than $20
10/10 stuff
Sweet! Always great when you can reduce recurring bills!
Thanks for this I’m a new renter and I bought a router thinking I had didn’t have to buy an ips.
Glad I could help!
Stay Safe.
Thank you!!! I can't wait to get on the phone and win!!
Thanks again man
Nice! Always stay on top of that package. You have 30 days to make adjustments for anyone else reading this comment. Even if they do put you in a contract and that's not what you wanted you can change it without penalty within the first 30 days of getting service.

Any time! Good luck!
Thank you for sharing this helpful information. May the Most High Creator YAH continue to guide you,

Do you have any idea on how to lower an Spectrum internet bill? Or do you have an idea of how Spectrum Mobile works?
@@ToolDeals Okay, I have a better understanding now. Thank you Chris.
Thank you, Chris, we really appreciate your video. keep up the good work!
My pleasure!
Yo Chris what internet do you recommend and what do you use

HOLY CRAP. THIS WORKS. thank you!
Glad it helped!
Internet is a privilege. People who have power sometimes don’t know how to use it wisely. Sometimes, instead of managing your time off the screen (TV, phone, games), people tend to be “obsessed” with their “eyes glued to the screen”
You have me a bit confused. I just want internet only. Do I need to buy a modem, a router, or a modem AND router? Thanks in advance!
Chris Knows thanks for the comprehensive response!

@@ToolDeals great answer!!
Lol you know your stuff bro. Kudos to you.
Appreciate the love! Thanks for watching
Which cheap internet would you recommend for a small home?
Thanks Chris great video. No I didn't know about some of these.
Now you do! Go ahead and save you some money! The bills can get out of hand once that promo is up, and now you know not to give any of them your social.
Would you recommend the best equipment to get?
You can get something off Amazon. I have used Netgear or Linksys with good results.
Is there equipment to purchase that will record your programs? Watch from other tvs? Please advise on this. I am in Tampa.
Any advice on prepaid internet?
Thanks for the info - I am looking to get rid of comcast
Glad I could help! I just got Verizon and it's lightyears better... and cheaper.
You make plenty of sense, thanks man!
Glad to help!
What’s the best wifi provider in Southern California? I hate to be left with just Cox & AT&T
Was that Bob Ross at the end? lol
Yep! Lol, one of my favorite pass-times as a kid
Antenna and library for the tv, visible for phone/internet. $25-$40/month unlimited data. You will have $$$ saved to spend on real fun instead of sitting infront of the tv.
AB No they won’t spend the money on having “real fun” because they might not be in front of the tv but they won’t have their faces out of their phone.
Great video Chris👍🏽

I live in Dallas TX, I only want WiFi which company should I get it with
Same here did you ever find one!?
When we watch Netflix, Amazon, or even TH-cam it doesn't count against our data due to the binge feature with T-Mobile.
what do you recommend for a router and modem combo? instead of purchasing both.
Thanks so much!! 😀
Great Detailed video 😄😃😊
Thanks for watching!
100 Mbps is enough even for gamers. As in for live tv there are cheap iptv and for home phone there is magic jack 50 for a year or 2

Bro went 2 years into the future
@@ToolDeals You are The Mann!!!
@@C3H5NO33HO3 Now THAT is humbling...
@FLeX Loud No, not yet. I have to find the most compatible for Optimum 400 and know if they upgrade modems to make you buy new ones instead of just renting theres???
Thank you found this helpful!
I'm glad to hear that! Thanks for watching!
Great Information! Thank you!
Useful information!

Thank you for the info my brother
what routers under 100 do you recommend?
Great advice !

so helpful thank you!
No problem! Good anything else you'd want me to make a video on?
I want to instalate Internet in my house Wich company you can recommend me pls? I think maybe for portable router
You would have to see what's available in your area. I also hear that T-Mobile has home internet in a few places for $50 per month with no contract and no rate increase. You can look for internet in your area by following this link: www.inmyarea.com/internet hope this helps!
I say $76 a month for Internet is too much. Most Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, and that was the case even before the pandemic.
Thank you!
Any time! Thanks for watching!
Any advise for Commerical internet providers with cost effective plans?

I'm trying to tell them! Thanks for the co-sign!
internet essentials
Indeed! Almost everyone qualifies for it if you think outside the box.
Great info! Thank you

2022 let’s put these tips to use !!!!!
Still relevant!
@@ToolDeals I’m about to make that call real soon and I want to try it ! No ssn ! No contracts ! In and out of deals if they no longer benefit ME. :))
AT&T still demands it and my apartment complex wont allow any other cable company to service the property
What city do you live in? A lot of cities are adopting laws that prevent monopolies like that. While AT&T may have an exclusive agreement with your apartment complex, in a lot of places it's against the law to restrict you. But this depends on the lcation.
@@ToolDeals I’m in Atlanta .my apartment complex is strictly with AT&T I don’t want them
@@TheLatatiana yeah the problem with Atlanta is Georgia doesn't have laws that promote competition.
@@ToolDeals thank you!!! That was Exactly the problem.🧐😆👌❤️

Can I use my infinity modem for cox
Great question. That all depends. You can check Cox's website: www.cox.com/residential/support/cox-certified-cable-modems.html
And see if your modem is on that list. Hope this helps! This is also one reason I like Verizon Fios. No need for a modem!
