This is the coolest first gen build I’ve seen. I’ve always wondered if someone had made a custom camper shell and here that person is. Thanks for sharing
That is some bad ass fabrication buddy. Sweet, love home stuff like this. Creativity feels good. That's a lot better than one of those other 12,000$ pop up campers. You built the Toyota equivalent to a Westfalia volkwagen on a 4Runner.
Truly a house on wheels - well designed and welding work there very well done, so many tiny areas and all just look big with all storage. 5/5 stars on creativity and execution. 😎 Very cool Build.
I’m so blown away from the craftsmanship and every small detail put into it. You really thought of everything, the gas tank system so cool, safety, live ability, damn bro soo sick. Guess you must do this for a living?
I just became your 200th Subscriber!!! Looking forward to watching this over and over again!!! I'm about to venture out in my 85 4Runner!!! This has given me lots of ideas!!! Thank you for sharing!!!
This 1st gen Camper is so awesome! From all the details in the video description, it must have been a labor of love! I don't know if I could ever part with such a nice rig. I became an instant subscriber after seeing this... It just so great, and reliable! You've got some serious engineering skills, my friend! Take good care and Happy New Year! 🌆🌌🗻🏞🌄🏕🏜🏖
If you wanted to step up the battery just a bit more . Switch the engine isolator with a vsr voltage sensing relay, automatic. And then a victron smart solar controller. With sunpower solar panels
Good Job, and clean truck, and nice mods! Just one thing ... Quilting may break waterproof coating on Sunbrella material and wick rain into insulation.
Love what u did with the roll-up rear window that relies on electricity to work and tailgate. Someone on yotatech says removing the glaas and mechanism eliminated about 23 pounds.
My best part of the video is it showed his wife sitting on a trailer and then he popped it up and he said there is going to b a lot of up and down on this part
love what you did to your 4runner. I am wondering if you could tell me what sending unit you used for the indicator light for your axillary fuel tank. Thankful for any help
Its a stainless steel 1/8 npt float switch from amazon- www.amazon.com/Madison-M5000-Stainless-Miniature-Pressure/dp/B00909365S/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=stainless+steel+float+switch&qid=1621871160&sr=8-4 I mounted it at the bottom of the tank on a custom tube that fits into the factory sending unit spot on the top of the tank. Be sure to use gasoila to seal it up, its the only thing that will seal the threads and stop gas from getting in and ruining the float switch
@@surfnstocks2998 they’re connected at the filler neck by a big t piece right next to the stock gas tank that then has a filler hose extend across the tunnel over to the secondary tank. The fill tube from the secondary to primary rank comes out of the factory pump outlet side on the secondary tank (I just got a metric thread to npt to barbed fitting to eliminate custom hoses) and into a barbed fitting that I welded into the top of the fuel pump holder on the original tank. It then just dumps down into the tank from there. I thought about plumbing into the factory return line and using a check valve to stop back flow but didn’t want to risk messing up the factory fuel system
Sick build! Which temp gauge did you go with and where are you getting the temp from? I tried one that was inline on radiator hose but it never really worked.
thanks! Its just the standard auto parts store one, I threaded it into the factory temp guage port on the intake manifold. Lost the factory gauge but I didn't trust it anyways
@@nicostrappazon a lot more than I probably should have haha, a rough guess just for the pop top would be 3-4K in materials plus 160 hours. If I were to do it again I would get a gfc tent and bolt it on or make a custom tubular base

I found one on ebay but had to search for the hilux body style because it wasnt marketed to 4runners. Had to ship it from Austrailia but it was only $100
It’s just bolted to the factory topper mounts (it’s a 80s 4Runner so they came with a removable topper). All the furniture and stuff is fully welded into the floor and body for max strength
@@ParkerWismar oh wow I didn't realize they were removable, that's awesome and your build is incredibly detailed and built to last, whoever got it in the sale is super lucky
Parker, sitting there she’s so shiny and adventurous looking ! Makes me want to grab my girl and get some yonder …. Out there somewhere. Super sweet !!
More than it would be worth for now! I don't have the shop space or tooling to build these at a profitable production level at the moment. The current process is extremely labor intensive

Ive had 2 gen 1 4runners... someday i wasn't too build a camper out of one. Cool build!
this thing is absolutely insane. the amount of detail put into this, just wow. Amazing stuff!

excellent video friend, can you tell me what size are the tires and rims of the truck
they're 31x10.5r15s, and the wheels are factory second gen sr5 15's

How much lift overall? 4"?
I think the 1st gen have the cleanest look
Thanks! Probably a 1.5 to 2 in lift, ome t bars and springs. It changes by an inch or two depending how much weight is in the truck
