  • The big reveal!
    Sarah and Ben just purchased a 1987 Toyota 4Runner with a custom Chinook style camper conversion. This walkaround shows you exactly what was done to it before they bought it. There are so many plans for this rig but for now, they can't wait to take it on its maiden camping trip as is.

    I remember back in 79 I bought a Toyota two-wheel drive right off the showroom floor in South Florida 5 speed on the floor with the 22R motor and then put a set of headers on it rejetted the carburetor and it went on from there and you could not kill that truck I always wished I would have gotten the 4Runner but things never worked out that way love the truck man that's for sure treat her good and she'll treat you good stay safe stay well and as always God bless

    I would love something like that for my 4runner .... guess I might have to build it myself.

    New subscriber here, saw your post on 1st gen mafia Fb group...Very cool home-built rig! And a great start to make it your own! Wondering why the original owner ditched the fuel injection but hey, all that stuff is still out there & relatively easy to come by. Excited to see what you do to with it! Cheers!

      Thanks! So are we, not entirely sure why the EFI was ripped out. We may put it back in eventually or try out something like a 4BT 😬

      @@NortheastAdventureCompany 4bt way to heavy would require 1 tons to still be reliable a vw diesel or a Cummins 2.8 I would check out but you can buy good TOYOTA Hilux diesels 1kz👍👍

    Easy to work on is a phrase someone uses that hasn't spent much time working on those easy to work on things.. as in break downs.. and having to fix them to get home or t their next destination ! That all said.. easy to work on has a second part... is it easy top get parts for ... and is the price and immediate availability... easy as well ! I recently sold my 1984 Nissan Sunrader.... I spent several years rebuilding it, loved it.. But I sold it. It was easy to work on !

    Reminds me of my Lil Red. I had to let mine go too. Things happen. Sadly the new owner has just let it sit in a barn, which really saddens me. At least you all will keep it going.

    So sick to see this on TH-cam. I saw this in person and almost bought it. I noticed that the rear tires would hit the box (if you went over some rugged terrain). Did you fix that? Love the rig, stoked !

    Watched the video twice, on my third watch now w/ subtitles. Did the previous owner custom one off make the camper or was it something he bought and put on the 87 4Runner?

    • @NortheastAdventureCompany
      @NortheastAdventureCompany  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the previous owner built the camper box from scratch himself

    Of the only entrance to the camper is in the cab. I would be really concerned.

    • @NortheastAdventureCompany

      We talk about how we will be changing that in the video. There are two access panels in the camper that we can all fit out of as well, no reason to be really concerned
