Wow! Get this: I am age 75 now. When I was about 35 years old, I bought the very 1st 4Runner to show up at the dealer in Flagstaff, AZ. I think it was an 84(solid front axle). I think there was an 84 1/2 model also, perhaps with an auto transmission? But I think mine- the 1st- was an 84. Manual transmission. I hunted, camped and fished all over the deserts and mountains of AZ and UT in that beautiful machine. Not to forget the deep snows of Flagstaff and the mountains of AZ. I never got stuck. Nothing ever broke or even rattled or squeaked. I sure do wish I had it now.
I had an ‘88 with the new V-6….new….great truck, loved it & only had it a year & a half & got the sports car bug & traded it in. It turns out that the early V-6 that Toyota developed for their trucks was junk & would seize up around 50,000 miles even with meticulous maintenance. I guess it was a blessing that I traded it away. I’d love to have it back & drop a modern engine into it….maybe some day….
This is 100% my dream vehicle. I've wanted one since I was a kid. Everything from the bulletproof 22re, 5 speed, removable hardtop, the interior color scheme, etc. 10k is fine, whatever. But this truck is my Holy Grail, honestly. Best believe I just bought as many entries as I could afford without skipping out on rent this month.
It's my baby! Got an '85 SA with EFI (and wicked-awesome zig-zag brown pin stripes) in 1994. With mud terrains that thing would go anywhere. Mine's all vinyl and hard plastic (which actually held up really well!). Now it's my summer cruiser. Gotta confirm: what he said in the vid about the IFS being much more comfortable - soooo true. The solid axle is beaslty. I hope whoever got this truck drives it top off and 80's tunes blaring.
I have an 86 and would love to buy a few extras for parts and projects. The only things stopping me is my wife and my wallet. Mine is at the mechanic now getting a bunch of front end work with some new parts and a few used parts from a 94.
Looks like the back side of the rear view mirror might have an old sticker or something on it? In the camera view from the dash, looking rearward, the backside of the mirror looks jacked up, is that just the lighting or is there something on it?
Just bought some merch to get my entries in! Hoping for some luck.. I’d Love to win this for my younger brother because he needs a “new” truck and this retro beauty would look so cool parked next to my 2015 4Runner Trail.. my 2nd 4Runner after my 2000 4Runner SR5. I guess you could say I’m a 4Runner guy. Thanks for the chance to own this so cool classic! 😎🇺🇸🇯🇵💪🏼🖖🏼👊🏼
That deflector is an excellent idea for hiding the dent, I got one on the freeway from a dirt hauling truck on both my blue wrx and my red talon, each time I added a Colgan brand sports bra, they invented the automotive sports bra, it is just a sleave that covers that portion of the hood, and makes the car look way sportier and they do look good on that style 4runner. Colgan started as Lockheed engineers who started making bra's for Porsches as they were owners. They are the best fitting and highest quality bra's on the market, as both times it fit like a glove that I struggled to get on.......and would try to source a original double din stereo with the graphic EQ
TRYING TO RESTORE AN 85 RIGHT NOW. WHERE,OR HOW DO YOU GET INTERIOR STUFF? I"VE SEEN A FEW PLACES THAT OFFER REAR SIDE PANELS,DASH COVERS,& SMALL PIECES THAT IS FAR FROM A COMPLETE INTERIOR.
100% correct. not factory stripes/decals. custom job on those. the 5-speed shift knob on this one was originally wrapped in red leather. that knob is a replacement. the center console is in exceptional condition.
It's confusing. It said truck value 25 grand but with 10grand cash, the total value is 40 grand. It said in official rule. So i guess you'll have to use 10 grand for taxes. Not sure.
taxes on the prize will vary from person to person depending on their income tax bracket. But it'll be as if you made an extra $25k for this year. The $10k is there to help with that but you should have plenty left over after paying taxes.

Locking hubs! Oh, the nostalgia!
I had same bug protector in black on my 88 Toyota P/U. Loved it at the time. Love the tech packages in these too.

though a good ding guy can get that out for no prob with out messing up the paint.

Thats not my name. It's Turd Ferguson.
Someone was up early this morning uploading!!
the night of the giveaway is always a long one! lol

Hey mate I got genuine surf chrome power mirrors
Who won it??
can't believe you doubled down on that nose joke...😆😁😄
damn that's alot of maroon. nothing seat covers can't take care of.
You should update your TH-cam Shorts more often. I think it would drive more traffic to you.
I had one about 20 years ago. I so friggin regret getting rid of it. Could not stop the little f*cker and not for lack of try’n 😂
Not factory stripe. Maybe sst or a rv matched car. Oem was Definitely vinyl
what does sst mean?
100% correct. not factory stripes/decals. custom job on those. the 5-speed shift knob on this one was originally wrapped in red leather. that knob is a replacement. the center console is in exceptional condition.
Riley or anyone that may know. What’s the taxes on this truck when won?
It's confusing. It said truck value 25 grand but with 10grand cash, the total value is 40 grand. It said in official rule. So i guess you'll have to use 10 grand for taxes. Not sure.
Sorry that was a typo in the rules. The value on the entire prize is 25k. 15k for the truck and 10k for the cash.@@sawhtoo164
taxes on the prize will vary from person to person depending on their income tax bracket. But it'll be as if you made an extra $25k for this year. The $10k is there to help with that but you should have plenty left over after paying taxes.
I would only black out the chrome on the grill, bumpers, windows and door handles. Otherwise this thing is cherry.
I dont see anything goofy about this truck.
❤
Couldn't you just sell it to one of us!
Take notes Toyota
