    FZ1 Most under rated liter beast . Have one fully modded ....add the Healtec quick shifter if you like it now ...doing full throttle no clutch upshifts are insane . Very capable weapon. Have fun be safe

      I have a ‘13 FZ1 that I will never sell, as well as my ‘03 954-those 2 bikes give me SO much enjoyment!!! I usually have 4 bikes in my shop at any given time ad the other 2 “slots” cycle on the regular. The FZ for me is SO comfortable for longer rides and the 954 scratches “the itch”…

    Wow. You sold MT09 and brought a Fz1. I changed many bikes, fz1 is the best ! Powerful and comfortable, decent handling and good brake. Anyway I also buy back fz1. No regret at all, I am enjoying so much in Asia!

    I had a 2011 FZ 8 and a 2013 FZ1. Both were amazing bikes! I preferred the FZ1 for a number of reasons. Obviously more power and a better suspension kind of made the decision for me but the main reason I like the FZ1 is because it's a half faired motorcycle not just a naked bike. Not to mention I think it looks badass! The only problem was the motors they used was an old free crossplane R1 motor that produced a lot of vibration. Especially between 4500-6000 RPM.
    I would love if Yamaha would take that same dual headlight half fairing naked motorcycle look with the mt-09.

    I have a few bikes, too. Including a Ducati Diavel AMG that's been goosed and threatened into ridiculous HP/Torque. I also have a 2003 FZ1 with a quick shifter and a custom seat. That's it. If all my bikes but one had to go, the FZ1 would stay. It's as close to a perfect bike as I've ever ridden, much less owned. I found a local guy with CNC in his garage so hopefully he can help keep me in parts as the years and miles roll by.

    Had the Gen 1 in that color and engine painted black from factory 2003. I had it for 16 years and put about 60K miles on it. Sold it for car money for my daughter and I nearly broke my leg later that night from kicking myself in the aazz! I have a small commuter bike I am working on it's a Lifan kpm 200, and it's kinda a cafe looking critter, but I only have it for 75 mpg on my 45 mile round trip commute to work 4-5 days a week. Got a 2021 SS and I'm not going to run up the Miles ya know! Anyway you can probably appreciate the motorcycle that I am currently considering. 2024 Katana.. only thing is, $14k+++. I am now thinking about getting an FZ1 to drive for a couple years while I wait for a better deal used... Fz1 is an epic motorcycle and bullet proof. I had standard maintenance and no breaks in 60k miles!! I agree whole heartedly that the FZ1 is a much better looking motorcycle than the MT10. I would like to experience the crossplane crank motor in it but I have nothing but good to say about the 20 valve. Mine was freaking carbureted too!! No issues ever.

    Knowbody will believe me but i just traded my 09 ninja 650 for an very clean 08 fz1. The guy bought it for a first bike for his wife. Long story short she dropped the bike on her leg, he had it on market place wanting to trade for a more beginner friendly bike. I loved my 650 but one ride down the street on my fz1 and i was hooked. The fz1 will be in my family for many years to come.

    Had a new 2011 some years ago. Full Yoshi R77, airbox hack, K&N, and Ivan's Performance ECU flash. Stock condition was rather poor. Modifications gave it about 21 more hp and eliminated all the running issues. Vibration went away, torque dip went away, on/off throttle lurching went away. This is an amazing machine. If you want something that is more "dirtbike like" the MT-09 is a good choice. The FZ1 is just much more exciting to ride in my opinion. The MT-09 would be a good "hoon around" in town bike for wheelies and such.

    • @FocusedGarage

      This bike is decently windy in my neck/chin area. I think it's because of the aftermarket speed screen on it and the way it directs airflow. Thanks for the comment, have been loving the bike so far!

    • @KutWrite
      @KutWrite 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had an '09 for 2 years. It was (so far) my last motorcycle.
      I bought a taller fairing, I believe from Rifle. It was one height below their tallest. It did a great job of keeping the wind off my neck and chin. It burbled the top of my helmet a little but that was preferable to the icy cold at nights.
      I got some appearance mods and a Mivv exhaust for some rumble. I was going to remove the "flies" but they didn't bother me so I left 'em on. They have to do with the engine not decelerating immediately but hanging at about 6k rpm. Some EPA crap.
      From what I've seen and read, the MT-09 is better for around town. The FZ1 does that but also is good on the freeway for medium-long trips. Stable and smooth, yet will lean further than I will!
      I'd buy one again if I decide to get back into motorcycling.

    Narrower steering bars make it easier to throw it in the twisties. Sportbikes have narrow clip-ons for that reason. Wider bars better for off-road balancing and adv riding.

    Nice video young brother! I'm buying a first-generation 2001 right now with basically no miles on it and it looks like somebody cleaned it with a toothbrush! And I've been looking at a lot of things and people don't get back to you and and and...
    It's really a drag when people put up anything to buy and then I'll get back to you and for pretty much most of my life I've had a bike is my only means of transportation or both but if I had to pick it would always be the bike! So I'm looking forward to seeing more videos and yeah the generation one is a whole other package but it's got some scream and some mean and over across the pond they call it a Fazer - & one of my favorite bikes was my Yamaha Phazer 700 I believe it was and that puppy was the last time I got a speeding ticket and I was up 142 miles an hour with a nice crank left to go! So I can't imagine what this bad boy will do - but you need to have some muscle to get out of the way especially living in the tri-state area here in NYC! I lived in San Francisco for many years and put a 4 into 1 kerker pipe on it so people would knew I was there. Keep up the good work and I'll look be looking forward to hearing from you brother ride safe! 😎✌

I use my FZ1 NA (naked) mainly for blasting around corners on A and B roads in the UK. Very capable bike. First two gears are calmer on FZ1 than in the engine on the R1. I have Michelin Pilot 5 road tyres with 190/55 rear.
      I was going to trade in for MT10 but after test ride on demonstrator I definitely did not trade in!

I don't like the way both stock seats push you into the tank, but it looks like you have the comfort seat? I sold the FZ09 also as I have 4 motorcycles of 1200 cc or more at this time. 2017 ZX14R, 2013 HD Sportster XL1200C, 2010 Honda VFR1200F, and 2015 Moto Guzzi Griso SE8v. Since I live in CA I have a little more riding time than you! Good video!

      I put a comfort seat on my MT-09, and it helped a lot with the position and comfort. This FZ1 also has an aftermarket seat, and it is worlds better than the stock seat. Nice bike collection you've got. I owned an XL1200C myself. Jealous of your VFR haha.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Yamaha 2nd gen fz1 retarted the ignition in gears 1-3 (to differentiate from the stock r1 motor) which can be fixed with a flash on the ecm without needing a power commander. Anyone else experimented with flashing to open up low end on 1-3?

    • @FocusedGarage

      You are correct. Power is limited in the first few gears. Any aftermarket flash typically removes this limiter. My bike was tuned by Nick at XPlaneR1.

    Had a modded mt09, thinking of getting a fz1, any noticeable power difference? Which is faster? Thanks!

      The FZ1, especially with mods, was significantly faster than my MT09 was.

    Im gonna end up selling my Fz1 and never getting a Yamaha again.
    The more I read about Yamaha ,the more I become disappointed.
    The declining sales show that.
    I will say its a fun bike but there are many other choices out there.
    New and used.
    They really let me down on that stator problem and not issuing a recall.
    Thats a Harley move ,not a Yamaha move

    • @FocusedGarage
      @FocusedGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a one time $350 fix. Just replace it with the updated part number and you never have to worry again. Aside from the frame crack issues of the 06 and 07, there are no other major flaws of these bikes at all.

    • @myname9252
      @myname9252 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FocusedGarage Oh yea I already have the parts on order.
      But thats my point,Yamaha swept it under the rug and thats bs.
      Those two issues are tremendous in terms of safety of both the rider and the bike.
      Reliability is a staple of Yamaha.
      As soon as their is a problem and several reports of the problem and them knowing about it,they need to address that as a company and acknowledge their mistake and take care of the customers.
      Im more mad at how Yamaha handled the situation ,not the problem itself.
      I like the FZ , but like I said , the more I read and expand on bike knowledge,the more Yamaha loses my respect even on the bikes,not just the company.
      It is what it is though .

      You get better noises from the crossplane, and a 8-10 mpg penalty. This 2nd Gen FZ1 un-restricted makes more power than the MT-10 stock.
