    I love my Yamaha FZ1-N. But the footpegs are a little bit too cose the seat for me. So I got myself a pair of adjustable footpegs from LSL! With 8 different positions they offer a fair bit of adjustment in order to find a more comfortable position for me to fold my spaghetti legs into! They also offer up an unexpected surprise on the ground clearance front!!!

    I got some for my ZX9 but couldnt get on with them because of the foot position. So i made 2 plates from 10mm aluminium to sit between the frame and the original footpeg hanger which dropped it by 30mm and put it 30mm rearwards. Its very comfy now and my foot position is exactly the same 🖒🖒

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I can see how the wider position might not be ideal for all bikes/riders. Time will tell for me. Home made is almost always best, as it's literally made for you! Sadly it's also the expensive way here, as everything you make yourself has to be tested. Very pricey route to take!!

    Hey Andy. Old vid, but smashing, ta.
    I have mint old FZR 600 that I adore, but since a stroke (recovering brilliantly !) my right leg gets stiff after a few miles scrunched up on the somewhat sporty pegs.
    Ive put an LSL peg kit on, but am presented with the quandary you had: bend the control levers, or restore the standard pegs and buy , say, a TDM 900 with a much cosier seating position.
    Did you try anything else after removing the LSLs or just change bikes ?
    Cheers pal

    • @AndyManCam

      Glad to hear you’re on the mend SD. I went back to standard pegs after about 2000 miles with these on. Then i sold the bike for a Honda CB1000R. Looks similar sized, but actually slightly more room in all directions.

    looks very similar to the drop brackets that are popular on the Versys. At least Yamaha doesn't use a c-clip to hold the footpeg on like the Versys does.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi and thanks for video...i have similar items on my speed triple...while the pegs do rotate to a lower position..you end up with a stepped peg which is probably more dangerous than beneficial.
    Sorry but replacement links are a quick fix to ride height ( i lowered my speed triple with a shock spacer from Lust Racing, UK ) ..Some bike shops i asked said they dont sell modified links or recomend them as they are dangerous ( in terms of putting out the geometry and stability of your bike)....i dont have exact explanation but ask a good racer / mechanic.
    Ps i had an FZ1....excellent chassis, mediocre brakes, gutless under 5 thousand revs.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The step did actually bother me to the point where i removed the pegs in the end. Don’t forget that lowered pegs aren’t really about changing the ride height. They’re for increasing the distance between seat and feet!

    So Andy, in the "Stuff I use" menu, I don't see the GPS mentioned. In the Croatia videos it appears it might be a Garmin Zumo . What model is it, and how do you like it? I've been watching reviews of the Zumo 395LM, and it seems some people hate the user interface. "Adventure Rider" on TH-cam even sold his and replaced it with a Tomtom Rider 400.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good spot!! Better get that fixed. Mine is just the 345LM. It has no 'curvy roads' feature and a slower CPU i think. Personally i find the curvy roads to be hugely flawed. The interface is often a bit laggy due to the slow processor but in use it works just fine. No complaints about the interface.

  • @dougiequick1
    @dougiequick1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Except now the shift lever/brake pedal toe pegs (idk what telse o call the part your foot pushes agaist?) are effectively more inset from your feet meaning one would need to pigeon toe a bit to get the toe over them which is already trouble for me even stock but there is a downside to everything I suppose

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are quite right Dougie. I did actually bend the levers out slightly to conter this problem, which helped a bit. But overall it's not an ideal solution. I found much thinner adjustable pegs from MFW for my Honda which are far more comfortable.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @andycoomber6159
    @andycoomber6159 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Rear end jack up kits upset the seat attitude causing you to slip forwards, only slightly but enough to add pressure to you know what as your jeans tighten. It's only apparent after a long ride or heavy braking .

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It also quickens up the steering and reduces the turning circle 😉 During braking one should really be squeezing the tank with ones thighs rather than leaning on the bars. No wrist pressure and better handling. Also I've already put a bit of extra foam into the front of the seat and eventually i plan to raise and widen the bars a little bit. Though tbh you've just highlighted my own worries. I'll be keeping the original linkage just in case it doesn't work for me!

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think on the Versys vibrations might be noticeable. But the FZ1 is smoother for a start and then the whole rearset is actually rubber mounted so no vibes to be felt!

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I did have to adjust all the controls which also involved bending the gear lever outwards a tiny bit. Once I got used to the pegs being a bit further out, it is definitely an improvement over the stock position.

  • @dom252
    @dom252 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How is/was the grip on these pegs? Thinking about buying a similar set but they look a lot slicker than the stock ones with their big rubbery bits. Would they be a bit dodgy if it's bit wet and you stand up on them to go over a speed bump for example?

    with the lack of cable management in this video, I will add some of my own. Any tips for managing a long mic cable in a helmet? Got a new Lavalier mic for my vids with about 4m of cable I need to find find room for. For now I coiled up the cable into 2 seperate coils placed in what space there is in the padding and then I tucked the rest into various crevices around the helmet. Nor sure if there are better ways.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's the same as what i have done for the last 3 years. Until i got the X3000 cam from Sony which seems to treat the coils of wire as an antenna for picking up radio interference from the wifi, gps and Bluetooth functions. So i took the extreme step of cutting the wire and resoldering it with only 6" of cable from plug to mic. 2 birds, 1 stone!

    • @F4celessArt

      Hi Said. I ended up sticking with the LSL Standard peg joints with sport pegs. The adjustable was good, but it just stuck out too far. The LSL‘s were great. As soon as they release the certification for the new Honda, I’ll be putting some of them on that too.

      Sure, way simpler! Sadly in Germany critical structural parts like footpegs have to be TÜV approved for the bike, otherwise it’s not road legal. 🤦🏻‍♂️

      Unfortunately it doesn't matter if it's the strongest construction on the planet. If it's not approved, it's not legal. they check them at every TÜV inspection, but also if you are involved in an accident, they might check your bike over again. Anything illegal means no insurance and increased share of blame for the accident. Boooo!

  • @disekjoumoer
    @disekjoumoer 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I always wondered how those would work with one's feet further out.The Versys has a kit from the US (Motowerks) that isn't adjustable but starts right from the joint. If you so jack up your Fazer (I considered doing the same thing with an FZ8) maybe you should look for a fork raiser too, since jacking up the back alone is going to pitch you slightly more forward onto the bars which might be uncomfortable on long journeys to various organs, sea ones and others.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So far in use, they've not been too bad. Once you get used to 'looking' for a spot 3/4 of an inch further out with your feet, you find the right spot every time. I did end up bending the levers out slightly, but only by a degree or 2. Not so much that they look like they've been vandalised!! I'm OK with the idea of pitching the bike forward a tiny bit as it will quicken the steering and shorten the turning circle. I'm lead to believe by the forums that that is how the bike should have been from the start. We'll see. In any case, the long term plan is to put slightly higher and wider bars on anyway. I just have to wait til I sort out some Stainless brake lines and longer clutch/throttle cables to make that possible. So no Sea organs need be damaged in the long term!

      In my search for My Next Bike(TM), I've considered the BMW F800R, raising the bars and seat and putting on luggage and a screen. I'll need to test ride one, of course, but from what I've seen in TH-camONauts various escapades, it seems like a pretty good and agile machine. One can get fairly recent ones for a good price as well, for some reason. I think a lot of people buy one then sell it for bigger and greener pastures, aka a GS, XR or something equally bankrupting.

    • @AndyManCam

(It's easy here in germania because legal visors are E-marked) But allegedly mirror visors are not allowed because the sun could reflect off of them and dazzle other road users. It sounds a little crazy but stranger things have also been true when it comes to road regulations! 😂

    Good video but these things on a gxsr suck. Its a poorly designed product..they push your foot too far outward... and as another youtuber said "they feel more dangerous than anything". I couldnt believe that, so i ordered the shinobis for 60$ and he was dead on! For a gsxr and probably a lot of other bikes, you wanna go straight down, if you must move them.....and even then you'll have to move your shifter and brake to correlate. Inch and a half is a LOT, in relation to your brake and shifter, but id still feel better with another inch of leg room (2 1/2 inches), but that aint gonna happen on a gxsr. Main reason is gears and shift wouldnt move enough to compensate.

    • @AndyManCam
