Hi, not using the official one I have in this video but you can get a DDC17 d tap dummy battery and connect that to a V mount battery. I have one on order but it has still not been dispatched 🫤
You could use the official dcc17/blk22 dummy battery and then use a dtap to dc, dc to dc, or usb to dc cable to run from your vmount battery to the dummy connector. Im going with this setup myself. Im just having a hard time find out the size of the dc female connector on the dummy battery before i buy everything.
@@itsbusyish I tried to go that route and look in to that and I couldn't find anything suitable without making it myself. My other issue was that the cable could easily come apart as it would have no locking connectors. But it would mean you can shut the battery door, so swings and roundabouts. Hope you manage to find something.
The barrel connector size is 4.8x1.7mm I have 3 GH6 that will be rigged up to V mount batteries(Smallrig). I got the official panasonic dummy batteries and am buying 4.8 to 5.5 dc cables and 4.8 to type c cables to use interchangeably with the ports on the vmount batteries.
Why is the option of connecting a standard charger via USB-C worse? Yes, the battery will not be empty, but it practically does not discharge when current is supplied to the camera. Perhaps your empty battery is not heated, but does it matter.
Because the power bank itself needs to be charged, so it is only extending the battery life, whereas I could use AC power all day long and I know it will never run out and I don't need to change batteries and miss shots. There is no point using a power bank and wasting its charge if there is a better option available. I will always have it handy if there is no access to mains power though.
Oh I see, you could do that. The lead is impractically short though and the camera will still eventually switch off because it will be using more power than it is being supplied. The other drawback is that it ties up your USB C port, so when SSD recording is available you will not longer be able to use it.
@@lnuponom2678 Not something I know sadly as I have no affiliation with Panasonic but I *think it will be rolled out in the next major firmware update 🤞
Yep they pay it 10$ stick the Panasonic brand & then you pay the thing 100$. But if you don't trust the Chinese brands (like me), then control the output voltage at home, should be 8.4V. Some did found some dangerous gear out putting 9V instead. This can be deadly for the cam. It's a real danger.
Yeah I totally agree, it's a total rip off and you can never get them on offer. But I must admit, I do find it very reliable and I use it all the time. I can use it across a couple of my cameras as well, so that's handy.
I was finally able to use my ANKER PB today. Everything went extremely well. Thank you again for all your help.
Good to hear you have it all up and running 👍
What size is the dc barrel plug connector?
5.5x2.5?
Quite a nice question indeed!
@@kissu_io I bought one just to check the size. A 4.8x1.7mm dc barrel plug is a perfect fit.
@@itsbusyish thanks for the feedback! Somebody in the comments suggested `4.8x1.7mm` as a viable size too.
@kissu_io Sorry I made a typo. Its 4.8x1.7.
'Corrected above'
How many volts does this power cord have?
It's an 8.4 V output at 2.5 A. Hope that helps.
Is there a way to power the dummy battery with a V mount battery?

@@stevelitton I meant that AC power is supplied to the camera through the battery. It comes in the box with the camera, this charging power cord.

@@stevelitton When will writing to SSD be possible? :)

Looks like some comments need approval here or mine just got an error while posting? 🙀
Hey, I've not seen any others come through. What's up?
