Was just about to start looking for another battery for my G9, I have bought Wasabi in the past but not for the G9 so your recommendation was right on time. Thanks!! Great video!
Great run through! 👏🏾👍🏾🙏🏾 I have a lovely compact and totally balanced rig for my GH6 that is powered by the FX Lion but so far I have not found a dummy battery that gives me all the top end codecs and resolutions of a native GH6 battery, so I use the USB-C port which works perfectly for the time being. However, when Panasonic release that promised firmware that will give us external SSD recording through the USB-C port then I will have a problem to solve! Are there such things as splitters for USB-C and even if so will the power required draw more than the FX Lion Nano One can give?🤔
Thanks Eugene 🙏 The FX Lion batteries are great! I am looking into the power problem for when the firmware for SSD recording comes out. Haven’t figured out a solution yet. But if and when I do, I’ll definitely post a video about it!
do you know if there is a plug available that allows the s5ii to charge from the mains wall plug via usbc port? something that charges the camera while it is turned on and operating?
Absolutely. The newer LUMIX cameras can be powered and charge the battery simultaneously via USB C. The only requirement is a USB C wall plug/charger that can supply at least 9 volts by 3 amps (USB C PD). And a suitable usb c cable, but most cables will work.
Very helpful. I have quite a few NP batteries. May I ask what V Mount setup you suggest to power a GH6 and Ninja together? Also is there a way to attach all this to a cage? Cheers😊
Hi Frank. You own an S5 now? A good way to set up the GH6 + Ninja V power by a v-mount would be by getting a v mount with USB C PD (9v 3a minimum) and a d-tap port. You can power the GH6 via USB C and the ninja via d-tap to dc barrel connector that goes in to the battery eliminator/dummy battery for the ninja v. If you want to be able to use SSD recording with GH6, you'll need to get a usb c pd to dummy battery for the GH6. However, those are only available as 3rd party products and need to have a proper voltage converter in them. So, if you don't know much about dc power, it can be a bit tricky. I do use a usb c to dummy myself, but I do research when I buy something, but more importantly I do a thorough check when get it. But I have a background in dc power and know what to check (and measure). As for mounting it to a cage; there are tiny v mount plates on the market (SmallRig, AndyCine etc.) that you can screw on to the cage and attach the v mount to it. V mounts that I have tested are the FXLion Nano One and Two and the Vemico V99, with the latter being the best value for money, but is also bigger than the Nano One. All of the above applies to an S5 as well, except for the SSD recording. Hope that helps. Cheers!
Thanks for the very helpful reply. While checking some TH-cam’s and Amazon Reviews, I came across a Power Junkie version 2, which recently ended on kickstarter. It ticks all the boxes of a V Mount however it uses NP batteries, and I have quite a few of those. They also do a dummy battery for the GH6/S5. Even though the Kickstarter has ended, they are still allowing a few purchases. If you’d like then I can let you know how I get on with my Power Junkie and dummy battery. Looks like I will be able to have my cake and eat it by powering the camera and record direct to my SSD.😊
If it’s a dummy with USB C there should be a little box in the cable. This is the voltage regulator and should take of supplying the correct voltage. Sometimes the regulator sits within the dummy itself. It depends on which one you have
Had some fun making a very dramatic thumbnail 😂 do you like it?
Hope the video is helpful!
Your videos are helpful. Thank you !!
You’re most welcome!

That’s great to hear! 🙏
You’re the smartest person on the internet! 😅

@@RedFrameTech I look forward to it !👍🏾🙏🏾
Can you do a g9 vs gh6 test? Stabilization... v-log/hlg difference... auto focus... low light.
That is on my ‘videos to make’ list 🙂

@@frankinblackpool sounds good! I have heard of the power junkie. I’d appreciate it if you let me know how you get on with it.

Do you have any carbon fiber smart rig for your cameras?
Do you mean carbon fiber 15mm rods? Then the answer is no. It’s aluminium. I’d like to upgrade to carbon fiber at some point
