Am I the only one who can't really get mad at Billie Joe for what happened? I mean pulling the whole "Do you know who I am?" card is kinda douchey, but I be pissed to in that situation.
That was my favorite one. I think it was bad booking. I found it humorous that some people in the crowd loved it and was cheering. He did kind of look like a dick, but they've payed their dues to the industry.
Several years ago, my best friend’s band opened for Puddle of Mudd in Sacramento. They had the venue packed to capacity. Over half the audience left before Puddle of Mudd took the stage. Wes threw a fit about “fake fans”, then got into screaming match with my friends bass player, accusing him of sabotaging PoM’s show. He also made some comments about how friends band should be honored to play with PoM, and that he would ants to hear about how this show is gonna jump start their career. He was pissed when he was told that the venue had trouble finding a local opener, and that friends band did it because it’s a great venue, and adding PoM to their show made it easier to sell tickets.
Thank you for including more than the go-to Loudwire/Grunge top 10 meltdowns. Really refreshing to see someone who put some effort into finding more unique incidents than the same recycled 10 that everyone uses.
I used to love asking Alexandria when I was a teen. They are just a bunch of pop fans now. Went to a festival and decided I would stop by the AA stage. He didn't play 1 song that was hard. Fuck AA and Danny suckknob!!!
Seriously, forgetting the music that is the sign of a good friend. Watching your band mate high off his mind and being a shit human being. And the first thing you do in the heat of the moment is get him somewhere safe (ie offstage.) And without missing a beat, acknowledging to the fans that he was a dickhead. But instead of cussing him out, swear to the high hills that you are going to save him by making sure he gets help. I'd follow that one guy simply for being an upstanding human being and a great friend.
Couple other things: Kings of Keon came back after the venue fixed the bird issue, honored previous ticket holders and played a free show. And, interesting note, that is the same venue that Axle started the riot.
I've listened to Green day since kerplunk... initially hated the trio album, but absolutely love "dos" now. I've found it's easier to enjoy life without starting things with bias. That is not a dig, to each their own.
So according to Billie Joe, he wasn’t just drunk, he was black out drunk. That rant onstage? He doesn’t remember a word of it. He sobered up, realized it was after the concert was supposed to happen, asked his wife what was up, and she said “It’s bad.”
I was at that FFDP concert in Worcester, MA. My wife went out of her way to get those tickets for me, thank God Shinedown was epic. That was my first and last FFDP concert period. I've seen Shinedown since and they haven't disappointed us.
You won't have to worry about any issues with SD. If they have technical issues they just turn the show into a acoustic show. Brent got hit with Eric's base on his head. Wrapped up his head finished the 2 songs they had , the towel was soked with blood and he went to the hospital got stitches and had a concussion.
In regards to the whole Green Day Meltdown, I feel like certain people in the music industry won't address when someone in a band is having a problem (Drugs, etc.) until it starts negatively effecting the music (I'm not saying that's necessarily what happened here). The day after this meltdown occurred, Billie was checked into Rehab for not just for drug use, but insomnia. Apparently, Billie was overworking himself because he was afraid of the band losing its quality.
That wasnt a metldown he just had one beer too many, a meltdown is having a tv blow up in your face when a 'pyro' stunt goes bad and half the audience are plain clothes police officers. (Dayglo Abortions Toronto) was kinda boring I left early that night anyways..
I have 2 honorable mentions. Oh I mean dishonorable. 1. 05 OZZFEST Sharon Osbourne Iron Maiden the egg throwing incident. 2. A true classic THE WHO when Keith Moon got so messed up before the show past out before the first song started. So Pete Townsend ask the crowd if there was a drummer in there. And a guy volunteered to step up to play drums for The Who. And he played maybe 6 or 7 songs for them. And he became the famous drummer for one night!
Well from what I can remember Bruce Dickinson was talking smack about OZZY OSBOURNE and SABBATH at every show. Then he was saying OZZY couldn't remember the lyrics and needs teleprompters to read the lyrics to remember them. So Sharon Osbourne got tired of this s*** talk so she start cutting off the power to IRON MAIDEN shows. Then her and some Roadies got some eggs and started throwing them at MAIDEN. Which I kind of thought it was funny! But honestly I see her side of the story. I love IRON MAIDEN but Bruce Dickerson must act more professional and don't disrespect the main headliner. Especially if it's OZZY OSBOURNE and OZZFEST! I mean come on Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin palth way for Iron Maiden. Just saying.
I was at Eggfest in 2005 San Bernardino, CA....cutting the power on IM several times, egg throwing, the tape loop chanting Ozzy.....Sharon running her mouth after Iron Maiden's set she ruined calling Bruce Dickinson a prick....Bruce saying "Someone nearby said they can't drive 55, well we don't play 55"....their set, Sharon cut from 65 minutes to 55, was IM last show of Ozzfest....Bruce was referring to Sammy Hagar who is from nearby Fontana..
Love that the Kings of Leon made this list. I'm from St Louis and people still call them Queens of Leon for that crap. Later that week Lynyrd Skynyrd played same venue and the guitarist passed from heat exhaustion, took a few minutes and came back and finished the entire show. And the dude is easily twice the age of anyone in Kings
Hasnain Tinwala that's amazing there pelting them with mud and rocks and trash and then they cheer when they leave so good you could argue that's More the crowd having a melt down
Henrique Bragança They were playing at a festival and they were on right before Slipknot... as a result, the crowd was full of Maggots who didn't care for Nickelback's sound
@@troykent4656 yeah he is.. just maybe not that time. don't forget the tour with Metallica, when James had the infamous burn accident on stage & they had to rush him to the ER. Axl had every opportunity to step up and start his set early to keep the show going.. because that's just what you do, when you are a professional.. instead, he incited a full blown riot. because he's a dumbass with Rockstar syndrome.. but karmas a bitch & now he looks like Meatloaf 🤣😜🤘😎
Here's a fun one : one of the most renowned pop singers here in Serbia, had a concert somewhere abroad (Montenegro or North Macedonia, can't recall). A few sources claimed that there was a bottle of Jack on the table placed by the stage, which was replaced with a full one at least once during a ~2h set. If you weren't standing in the first 4-5 rows, you wouldn't have noticed it. Also : during a presidential rally in 2017, the same guy was scheduled to speak before the candidate (sort of independent liberal). He drove from a show in Macedonia to Belgrade that night, appearing quite intoxicated and then proceeded to lean on the rostrum (which didn't fall apart somehow), addressing the crowd with a slurred speech and surprisingly threatening tone : "Don't fuck this up!". It was maybe a week prior to the election day. The candidate finished second.
@@williamhickey9200 fucking idiot the event organizers told them they were doing an entire televised set, and Billie Joe found out that they actually planned on cutting their entire performance as they went to commercials at the end of the show. He had EVERY reason to get pissed
@@briankniffen7390 So you're just dismissing dookie as a whole or what? Yeah their sound changed I get it, but don't be an ass, they were once a punk band, and as influential as they were they do deserve respect, did he go overboard? Yes he did, but that doesn't mean he didn't have a point
That Billie Joe iHeartRadio one still breaks my heart. It's so embarrassing to watch, as a huge longtime fan. It's like seeing a close friend or family member melt down. As far as Axl goes, he's been a very good boy lately. From 2016 onward he seems to have completely turned himself around. Arriving on time, being in a good mood. It's really great to see him back on top with much of the old band to boot!
Axl is mostly likely to of realised how much of a real tit he was. I know MetallicA got to experience Axl’s bullshit as they toured Nth America and Canada. Bastard Axl started a riot in 1992. MetallicA’s singer and Rhythm guitarist James Hetfield was burnt by standing into a pyrotechnic flame that burned his left hand and side. Axl got shitty because he and the guys were asked to go onstage because of James Hetfield’s unfortunate situation. 3-4 songs in he gets the shits majorly, throws his microphone down and storms off the stage. Axl and the GNR boys really could’ve been the hero’s of the day but alas Axl chucks a mental tantrum and stuffed it all up. Good one Axl you dickhead!
Throwing a used tampon at the crowd is something I've never think would be a thing that happens. Then again, I'm sure weirder things have happened in concerts.
L7 once organised a contest, first prize being a night with Jennifer Finch (aka the bassist of the band). If you're not shy of this kind of thing, throwing used tampons seems pretty much natural.
Donita Sparks the lead singer of L7 ripped her used tampon out after a show. Faith No More took the stage shortly after & their singer Mike Patton grabbed the tampon. Put it in his mouth & started chewing on it during their first song.
You know, I just stumbled onto this channel today and I appreciate you suggesting other vids like docs. I was literally thinking about looking up that Guns N’ Roses situation and you suggested it in the video right as I did. Thanks
You should do the "opposite" of this with bands that stopped shows to help their fans. Neck Deep comes to mind or All Time Low standing up to security for using mace against mostly underage kids.
Not a heavy band, but the Cure stopped a gig entirely and got the crowd to all move back a few hundred yards so that a medical helicopter could land in front of the stage to airlift a injured fan away. Glastonbury 1990.
You did a good job..I enjoyed watching this..You get 5 crowd punches, 10 pigeon shits to the face, 1 broken guitar, 1 riot for social media posts, 1 slap for poor mom's who didn't really die and a big Hi 5 from me..Well presented..Fun to watch..GOOD JOB..subbed..Dont fall on stage or blame your mom..Im just a normal guy. .GOOD JOB!!!!
It is fair to say he is to "fuck me eyes" what Carmen Electra once was referred to as "fuck me boots". Not to be mistaken with "fuck my eyes" and "fuck my boots" which are sexual preferences only known to hillbillies from that place you don't want to go to on your canoe.
I saw Five Finger Death Punch in August 2018 on the apparent anniversary of what even Ivan Moody himself called the "Memphis Moody Meltdown" three years earlier. About 11 songs in, he lashed out at a guy who was moshing a bit too hard and basically challenged the man to a fight out in the parking lot after the performance as security escorted him out.
My dad helped build that theatre when he lived in St. Louis. btw, it wasnt just new, IT WAS THE FIRST SHOW IN THE THEATRE! He was there and was almost told immediately by his boss to go home cause this is about to get ugly. The next day when he returned, almost all of the chairs were gone (as in ripped up from the concrete ground) and the light post outside we're burned down. You could see the scorch marks. and an estimated 25 cars were destroyed. The stage was completely dismantled and it took over a year to repair it all (they pretty much gutted the place and started from scratch).
That's so fucked up. I'm so sorry your poor dad had to go through something of having the place he worked so hard on to be disrespected like that. If the guy that was snapping pictures did what he was asked, that stupid riot wouldn't have even happened. I get that the fans were disappointed and all but, that didn't give them the right to take it out on the venue.
I remember seeing that riot on the news that night (in Chicago). Just horrible and amazing nobody got killed. Feel bad for your father to put so much work into the place only for it to be destroyed in one night. Hope its fared better since rebuilding.
*Watches part about Asking Alexandria member diving off the stage* "Say, wasn't there some other occasion of a vocalist attacking the cro-" *Axl Rose diving off stage to attack someone* "Oh, there it is. Yeah, not surprised it was him."
@John Williamsdid people say that they did nit lkke green day even though they did in 1994 ? if i was born then i would say i loved them i would not care what other people say
Tbh, even if you don't like Fred Durst, you gotta respect the dude. He does his shit for the people who wanna see it and has fun doing it. The other guy... yeah, I heard that Story the first time today. Gotta kick out the one song I have on my playlist
Say what you will about his childish lyricism, poor songwriting, and his meagre offerings at being a film director, but at least ol' Redcap is not a walking Join The Army ad featuring domestic abuse as a selling point for their new single. There's junk food trash like Bizkit, then there's hazardous waste like Death Punch
My mom actually did pass away this year, so Ivan Moody... yeah, I didn't know about that until just now. I don't know if I'm a fan anymore. That was way beyond disgusting. I love my mother and would give anything to have her back. To say something like that to garner sympathy for yourself, or give some kind of b.s. excuse as to why you won't or can't perform is a crappy thing to do to your fans and your band.
I still tremendously enjoy some of FFDP's songs, but *_damn._* WOW. Ivan is seriously screwed up. I can't help but feel sorry for him, Billie Joe Armstrong, anyone else living like they do. That was just sick and wrong what he did. He needs a lot of help. I vaguely remember reading about this a few years back.
My condolences for the loss of your mother. I lost my mom in January 2016 and hearing that he lied about his mother dying.... Turns my stomach. I'd give just about anything to have my mother back, and the fact that he thought it was acceptable to use that to cover for his abysmal behaviour is beyond shameful.
Ivan’s pisses me off I lost my dad and for him to lie about losing a parent is horrible. He doesn’t realize the pain of losing a parent. it isn’t a joke. It is sad
A personal meltdown I witnessed was when my old band Psychofusion (it was a bad name but I went with it) played the creepy crawl in St. Louis and the singer of one of the other local bands we were with jumped off stage and started beating a heckler. I nearly was slammed into the wall in that melee...but I did see someone after the show in the alley way getting some service from someone who seemed to be into the act as well...good times in the Lou lol 😆
Eh, I don't hate the name. Off topic, I know, but at worst maybe it could be called a bit generic, but it's nowhere near bad. You didn't exactly pull a Saliva is all I'm saying. XD
Everyone loves sex and violence even if it is repugnant it is fascinating to the human condition. Ask Holllywood. They use it all the time in movies and shows.
@@jasonlemere1683 True. I've been to my share of shows, both for rock and metal, and I've unfortunately, since nobody wants to see THAT happening *unless that person is a voyeur who gets off to watching that* stumbled upon that myself.
I did that at a huge outdoor party. We played metal and thrash. This guy was laughing at one of my guitar players. He had a problem with his input on his Marshall head. We stopped and my guitarist and that guy, plus another guy and his woman where going back and forth. I took off my P Bass and handed it t my other guitarist and jumped down because everyone moved back. The main heckler ran. I went at this other guy and he hit me in my eye as hard as he could. I went black out mad. He ended up face down on the stage with me smashing his face into the stage. My singer grabbed his feet which were hanging down and pulled his cowboy boots off trying to get him away from me because e thought I was going to kill the guy. I ended up cool with him later and even fixed his Harley a couple times for free.
I loved this video. Very interesting. Its always fascinating learning about the rock community. Maybe you could make a video of most heartwarming moments on stage? That would be cool to see :) Anayway, love the vid, great job.
I saw FFDP in 2015 with Papa Roach and In This Moment. It was a good show and the only non- positive thing from the show was that Ivan thought he was in Denver (he was in Colorado Springs, about an hour south of Denver).
I worked there for a season. I couldn't have been more embarrassed than when I watched the entire theatre empty out while The Ramones closed out Pointfest. Wait! There was also the time the audience walked out during Bowie's set when he followed NIN. There's a reason world class bands refuse to play in St. Louis. And a reason I moved away from there.
I used to listen to them a lot when I was younger. Saw his shirt and added a few of their songs onto my commute playlist. Now I cant stop thinking that the lead singer looks like Dane Cook. That is all.
The funny part is if Ariana Grande or Justin Bieber had a meltdown at one of their show everyone would be worried. If Marilyn Manson or Billie Joe Armstrong has a meltdown on stage at their concert, people just say it's rock n roll what do you expect
Well, as far as rock goes, that's the culture that's been created. Crazy activity is encouraged by fans and some even shame bands or call them soft for being on the straight and narrow. Fans expect rock and metal bands to be unhinged or deal with issues involving addiction. Sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Pop stars on the other hand aren't encouraged to delve into debauchery by their fans.

Ritchie Blackmore during the California Jam 1974 Deep Purple set attacking a camera and blowing up his amplifier is a classic. Their whole set is on TH-cam with all the awesomeness going on during “Space Truckin”
I got the inside from Glenn Hughes on what happened: Blackmore was pissed off that the promoters wanted DP to go on EARLIER than their slated. It was actually in their contract that DP was to go on at dusk, to be able to use their lights, including the first use of the Rainbow, which was used later in, of course, Rainbow.
@@georgeprice4212 They should’ve known better than to tell Blackmore to go on before dark! And there was that damn camera man following him around the whole show looking for “the shot.” Well he certainly got that shot when Ritchie put the neck of his Strat through that camera lens! And as you mention that ominous rainbow telegraphing what was to come.
Was recently at an indoor concert: Blind Guardian and Night Demon, there was a live bat in the venue. I’m not sure how it got in there; a security guard claimed that one of the bands brought it but it got out early. It was flying around for about 30 minutes before the concert actually started, until it finally got exhausted and collapsed on the beer stand. A guy managed to get a shirt and bucket over it and released it out the emergency exit; it flew away without any noticeable harm. Can’t imagine how it would have gone had the bat been around when the bands got on stage… hope the poor thing had its ticket reimbursed

Billie Joe, because not only did iHeart disrespect Green Day by giving them a shorter time frame, but because Stevie T made a video about this meltdown.
Green Day had their own L7 equivalent at Woodstock '94. It's a proud moment in Green Day history and a strong contrast to the iHeart Radio meltdown nearly two decades later. Credit to Mike for playing along at the time. Even if the reason for the meltdown was understandable, it was hard to watch Billie reach that low and fans seemed to all realise exactly why things ended up that way which definitely added context to the trilogy.
I wouldn't even call that a meltdown. It's just Rock mentality. What should he say: "Be weak, and conform guys...and listen to all your authority figures." His only mistake was expecting anything less from a pop event. Hell, it's possible(though I don't know facts here), that he never even had a problem with alcoholism, and was convinced by someone else to make up that he had issues.

So glad I got to see Five Finger Death Punch when they first started. They were awesome live back then.
Ben Bruce basically saved Asking Alexandria that night from being hated worldwide.
The ABacross after their change in sound, I think they’re doing a fine job of that themselves

Couple other things:
Kings of Keon came back after the venue fixed the bird issue, honored previous ticket holders and played a free show. And, interesting note, that is the same venue that Axle started the riot.

So according to Billie Joe, he wasn’t just drunk, he was black out drunk. That rant onstage? He doesn’t remember a word of it. He sobered up, realized it was after the concert was supposed to happen, asked his wife what was up, and she said “It’s bad.”
He spoke surprisingly clear for being black out drunk lol.

Green day can never lose their quality. They by far the best
That wasnt a metldown he just had one beer too many, a meltdown is having a tv blow up in your face when a 'pyro' stunt goes bad and half the audience are plain clothes police officers. (Dayglo Abortions Toronto) was kinda boring I left early that night anyways..

@@markferguson3745 POV: You've never listened to green day
I like how the music fits so perfectly when axl rose dove in the crowd
I have 2 honorable mentions.
Oh I mean dishonorable.
1. 05 OZZFEST Sharon Osbourne Iron Maiden
the egg throwing incident.
The who one is less a meltdown and more just poor decisions
What even happened with that ozzfest one. Trying to look through it now but it seems crazy.
*before the show, Keith swallowed a gorilla tranquilizer*
Because the crowd really hated Nickelback and started throwing rocks at them.

MORAL OF THE STORY: *Don't get hammered before a show.*
Or give a time limit to Green Day.

I love Green Day but that was the most rock n roll thing they did. And Billie Joe should not have apologized
Axl realized he's getting old now
Axl is mostly likely to of realised how much of a real tit he was.
This 56-year old totally luuuuv your lists🙏

Throwing a used tampon at the crowd is something I've never think would be a thing that happens. Then again, I'm sure weirder things have happened in concerts.
L7 once organised a contest, first prize being a night with Jennifer Finch (aka the bassist of the band). If you're not shy of this kind of thing, throwing used tampons seems pretty much natural.
GG allin makes that look like childs play
Donita Sparks the lead singer of L7 ripped her used tampon out after a show. Faith No More took the stage shortly after & their singer Mike Patton grabbed the tampon. Put it in his mouth & started chewing on it during their first song.
That is so disgusting. Menstrual blood has such a sickening smell!

That Billie Joe "meltdown" was pretty mild. Also the crowd was on his side,
I'd say it's more epic than negative
Well, Crash Thompson’s comment about Ivan Moody getting a gold medal in the Being A Piece of Shit Olympics makes a lot more sense now.
Oh L7's on this list too... I see you took my suggestion. XD
I clicked on this video expecting to see an Axl Rose meltdown & was not disappointed
That's nutty, man.
Also hello from the UT discord!

As a punk rocker who's gone to many shows, "meltdowns" are fairly commonplace.
Yeah!in a punk show not when you're paying good money to see mainstream bands whose tickets are a lot more than punk shows with a way bigger crowd.
XD

I was at that L7 gig. They were a lot of fun! 🙂

I worked there for a season. I couldn't have been more embarrassed than when I watched the entire theatre empty out while The Ramones closed out Pointfest. Wait! Too bad for the bubble gum pop stars, huh?
Well, as far as rock goes, that's the culture that's been created. Crazy activity is encouraged by fans and some even shame bands or call them soft for being on the straight and narrow. Fans expect rock and metal bands to be unhinged or deal with issues involving addiction. Sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Pop stars on the other hand aren't encouraged to delve into debauchery by their fans.

Was recently at an indoor concert: Blind Guardian and Night Demon, there was a live bat in the venue. I’m not sure how it got in there; a security guard claimed that one of the bands brought it but it got out early.
