I remember My Chemical Romance and The Used were early critics of the way other Warped Tour bands would behave around fans, especially underage ones, and nobody listened. They weren't allowed to call out bands or artists by name, but were notorious for warning the audience during their sets to stay away from certain people and tents.
The best thing that can be said about Axl Rose and Scott Stapp is that thanks to the two of them having ‘Crazy’ set to 11 for years, we got Alter Bridge and a side order of Miles Kennedy singing with Slash.
I've personally erased GnR from my "liked" bands, won't listen to them or go see them, after Axl took a chance to be the hero, and caused a riot after James Hetfield got burned by pyro on stage.
In case anyone's curious, Stapp's been clean for about 6 years and is doing great. He turned his life around and turned his past issues into art with his new music.
It’s heartbreaking to see what happened to Travis Meeks. Another sad case of hard drugs destroying someone’s life. There’s a mugshot from his most recent arrest, and he looks completely unrecognizable in it. Kids, don’t do meth or heroin. It’s not worth it.
He was the one who found Mike Starr dead, too, which could've only helped him spiral even further. Meeks is a more empathetic person than others on the list, IMO.
It's worth noting that Scott Stapp was diagnosed as bipolar and most of those "episodes" were before he was medicated. I've seen him on tour a few times over the years and he still puts on a killer show.
Part of me wonders what would've happened if Mark Tremonti had been the frontman of Creed instead of Scott Stapp. Creed could've been a mind-blowing trio with Tremonti at the helm, since he can both sing and play guitar amazingly. Still, I'm happy Scott Stapp seems to finally have found peace and happiness with himself.
@@NexusKin Honestly probably nothing. For all the hate, Creed was one of the most popular rock bands of all time. Stapp may have had his issues but the dude is a genuine entertainer and frontman. Mark wasn't really out of his shell back then either. I'm a fan of all their projects but for all the hype Alter Bridge gets, nobody really gives a shit about them. I've met two Alter Bridge fans in person in my entire life and I always found it hilarious that Alter Bridge's best selling album is the one that sounds just like Creed.
@@rawkguy4896 well whatever… I like Creed okay; but love AlterBridge! Music is far advanced from Creed and Tremonti’s shackles have been removed to really let loose on lead guitar. Myles F’N Kennedy has amazing vocal range and adds solo guitar skill also. Rock music just doesn’t sell like it once did. Not a reflection on the quality of the music. They are absolutely amazingly talented and consistently put out great albums 👍
Queensryche - Geoff Tate. Surprised this one wasn't on the list. Spit on drummer mid set, disparaged the crowd at Rocklahoma, kicked out of the band and decided the best option was to sue the band while at the same time release his own Queensryche album with him and a bunch of hired guns while the rights to the band name were still being argued in court.
Tate's a leftist loon who supports BLM and Antifa and openly hates Trump and conservatives. This dude is not going to bash on him, no matter what. But Tommy Vext? Oh, that's just par for the TH-cam course.
It's a shame too because his voice was untouchable at his peak and he's also an incredibly intelligent (booksmart, at least) person. Operation Mindcrime and Empire are 2 of my favourite albums.
@@pinkmonkeybird2644 Oh yea, he was an amazing singer. Mindcrime and Empire are easily two of my favorite albums. But the singer kinda went off the rails, and apparently years later so did the drummer.
Called it on that certain Welsh band not being mentioned on here. I talked about them in my "Evil Musicians" vid and I've had thousands of comments saying said band's lead singer is probably the most evil musician of them all.
Just a side note: Travis Meeks was diagnosed with Asperger's when he was very young, which may explain why he has a history of being difficult to communicate with. Same with Craig Nicholls from The Vines, who had to break up the band because he couldn't handle the rigors of touring.
I have aspergers. While it is indeed more difficult to communicate, you know what your starting. If you are in a successful band, you know you have to do things that are more difficult, and you shouldnt use it as an excuse, but an opportunity to learn.
My love and respect for MCR only continues to grow as time marches on and they still have no disgusting allegations against them, unlike so many of their Warped Tour peers.
Kinda sad that your respect goes up for band that hasn't done something bad and creepy, that should be the norm and that sort stuff should rarely, if ever happen
I’m just glad nothing bad has come out against Blink 182, Simple Plan and Sum 41 hasn’t got in to hot water! and NO DON’T TELL ME IF THEY DID LET ME ENJOY MY MUSIC
@@bnicethegaynerd6025 Well honey, I know you're probably joking but you can't have it both ways. If you say "I'm so glad nothing bad has come out about these bands I like," you can't turn around and say you don't want anyone to tell you if those bands actually ARE problematic. Either you care enough to be informed or you don't.
I saw 30 Seconds/Leto at a festival some years back and the amount of stage management of the crowd and the built in PR moments made what was a weak set deeply unpopular with the majority of attendees. Amongst other things they straight up hired people to throw inflatable toys in to the crowd to make it look like everyone was having spontaneous zany fun and Leto stopped the set for five minutes to _post selfies to twitter._ I was hanging back in the crowd for that set and beyond the first few rows and the die-hards the sentiment was less 'we love you, Jared' and more 'GET ON WITH IT YOU POSTURING DOUCHEBAG.'
Yes, saw them at Download Festival way back and the dude could just not finish a single song. Started talking and posturing halfway through every song. I think they actually played for about 50% of their stage time. Horrible performance. I do have a favorite movie with him though, one I saw before I knew he was a singer. Panic Room. Ha.
The Brand New situation was absolutely wild at the time and makes me sad looking back on it. They were one of my favorite bands but I’m not shocked at the allegations given some of the lyrical content of their first 2 albums. But at the time of the allegations, they had just released their first album in 8 years completely out of the blue and it was possibly their best work, then the allegations dropped and they completely vanished after 1 half-ass statement from Jesse and dead silence from the rest of the band.
Honorable Mentions: Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit) Ivan Moody (Five Finger Death Punch) Frankie Palmeri (Emmure) Chris Fronzak (Attila) Denis Shaforostov (Asking Alexandria, Make Me Famous)
I think Fred's kinda cleaned up his act in recent years, but as for FFDP... I'm pretty sure ALL of the members are assholes in that regard so it's kinda hard for it just to be on the lead singer.
Honestly look. I don't think Fred Durst is a bad singer. He's not good but he's not Wes Scantlin covering Nirvana bad. I think his songwriting is terrible tho. And his off stage antics are kinda embarrassing. Well they were back then idk how he is now but man back then in public he was terrible in my opinion
It’s sad because most of these bands have some good material in their catalogue. Too bad a lead singer’s ego has to tarnish the entire band’s work and legacy.
I will always love the fact that Trapt's lead singer was called out (repeatedly) by the lead guys of Dropkick Murphys. Reason number 10,835 why we don't deserve them.
@@ronjames4151 no that’s just it I’ve listened to tons of music but in retrospect the album flows so nicely together and the songs rock hard. It’s just like how I and many others don’t like Maroon 5 but I agree with the statement that they have one of the best debuts in rock music ever in Songs About Jane. You’re trying way too hard to act elitist and it’s hilarious in a pathetic kind of way lmao check yourself. Definitely wouldn’t wanna be around you at a party lol
My friend's Facebook profile picture was him with the umm Welsh band taken from warped tour. When that news broke needless to say he changed that as fast as he humanly could.
@@darrenXparker I recently watched a video that was about him where they read the proceedings... I had to stop watching, I was crying so much and I honestly felt like I was gonna be sick.
I’m surprised that Liam Gallagher isn’t on this list - his own brother doesn’t speak to him - who wrote all of the Oasis songs and had the talent - hasn’t spoken to him in decades. Noel hated that his brother would constantly throw tantrums and be too drunk to perform at shows, which to Noel was u forgivable as he respects the loyal Mancunians who have supported them for years. To quote Noel, “Liam is a fork in a world of soup”
That’s how it’s been up until the last couple of reunion tours. Smashing Pumpkins seems to be in a much better place spiritually than they’ve probably ever been lately.
Regarding As I Lay Dying, Nick Hipa's relatively recent departure provides, I think, some valuable insight regarding how we should be thinking about Tim. He said that he left "because the story and meaning we built our reunion upon decayed considerably over time. What primarily endures is a superficial pursuit I cannot justify supporting or being part of." I don't know how else to interpret that other than to not trust what Tim has to say about himself and that money was the only reason why the others are still there. As always, perhaps I'm wrong.
I feel like As I Lay Dying's golden age was from 2007-2012. An Ocean Between Us, The Powerless Rise, and Awakened were absolute masterpieces, and bassist/clean vocalist Josh Gilbert was the crucial link that really helped to elevate all the material. I'm thankful we were able to get one more album, 2019's Shaped By Fire, from the primary lineup before Gilbert and Hipa quit.
@@RockedNet I mean... the obvious one would be Maynard. You could also add Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Jack White. It would be a good excuse to shine some light on some singers' lesser-known projects.
Travis Meeks wasn’t just the lead singer for Days Of The New. He was the main driving force with hired guns helping him bring it on the road. The Green album was my personal favorite; but all of those albums are nothing short of brilliant.
Here's another band that's been tarnished lately because of their lead singer: Jacob Hoggard of the rock band Hedley, In 2005, Hoggard and his band members were suspects in a sexual assault case where a minor was found unconscious and shoeless outside a London, Ontario, venue where the band had played. Rohypnol was present in the victim's blood. The police investigation ended when the victim refused a rape kit and the band sent the venue management a letter stating any discussion of the incident would result in a lawsuit. In February 2018, he announced that he would be stepping away from his career indefinitely following Hedley's tour. On July 23, 2018, Hoggard was charged with one count of sexual interference and two counts of sexual assault causing bodily harm, involving a child under 16 and a woman. His trial date was scheduled to begin on 28 November 2018. On August 23, 2019, it was announced that Hoggard's trial would begin on September 27. On January 25, 2021, Hoggard's trial was pushed back to 2022 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In January 2022, Hoggard's trial was once again postponed, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It began on May 2, 2022, and on June 5, 2022, a Toronto jury found Hoggard guilty of sexual assault causing bodily harm against an Ottawa woman in the fall of 2016. The jury also acquitted Hoggard of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old fan and one count of sexual interference. Hoggard was charged in March 2022 with sexual assault causing bodily harm in a June 2016 encounter in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. The charge was made public on June 2. Hoggard is scheduled to appear in court on August 4, 2022.
To be real, the method the FBI used to catch Tim Lambesis in the act was very brilliant. Using a fake hitman working with the FBI saved a life on that day. I do enjoy some AILD music but yikes Tim that was a big No-No.
My favorite thing about the Trapt guy is people were just calling him "Trapt" on Twitter. That was hysterical to me for some reason. I mean, what he said is atrocious, but watching terrible people get dragged is hilarious to me. Also said Welsh band was one of the first things I thought of, and boy howdy I HATE THAT.
I had no idea what "Welsh band" was being talked about so I had to type in "most hated welsh bands" and then I found them right away. Honestly, it would be better to expose their lead singer every chance that is possible because that news flied under the radar around the time because his band had become irrelevant to begin with. I remember hearing about it a couple times but the story faded into oblivion. lol
I know of three bands tarnished by their lead singer mostly by infighting. Jello Biafra vs. Dead Kennedys Dennis DeYoung vs. Styx Axl Rose vs. Guns 'N Roses (featured here, as Rocked shared we could do a whole episode on GNR and Axl Rose alone)
I met Scott Stapp and his family once. They were super kind and Scott was very personable. Hopefully all the bad is in his past. Johnny Craig is working on his addiction. He did an interview with Flint and it was super eye opening. I use to not be a fan of him, but I am rooting for him.
I've met Scott Weiland, Jerry Cantrell and Scott Stapp. Of the three, Stapp was the only one that wanted to talk to us, take pics and sign our merch. Weiland and Cantrell weren't dicks but they absolutely weren't having it. I know Stapp used to be like that back in the dude is genuinely wholesome now. He even told ME thank you for being a fan. Hope he can get Creed back together someday
Johnny Craig just had a court date last month because they found Fentanyl in his baby’s bloodstream meaning he was smoking it in front of his baby. I’d stop rooting for him…
What also sucks about the Tim Lambesis situation is he didn't just tarnish 1 great band he tarnished 2. Austrian Death Machine, his other band, is one of my favorite metal bands and now I'm certain their probably never going to release music again. He released their last album literally right before he went to prison. And with all of the key members of As I Lay Dying leaving I'm sure it's gonna be hard for him to find people who'll want to work with him.
I remember when Travis Meeks fired the entire band and was really surprised because even though they weren't my thing, they were very unique. But you can't fall down the drug addiction rabbit hole without it costing you.
They may not have a huge following anymore but "OOMPH!" a German industrial band that predates and arguably inspired Rammstein is currently in a very rough spot after their lead singer Dero Goi became extremely religious and has since then denounced alot of OOMPHs original music. His antics on social media have left the band with some bad publicity. The band is currently searching for a new lead singer. Time will tell if they can recover from the separation with their lead singer who was the face of the band and if they even can recover.
I was a fan but stopped listening to the band before all that mess (not for any particular reason, just lost interest I guess) and when I looked them up recently I was quite surprised, to say the least
This one was really disappointing as I am a longtime fan of the band and deros vocals, and I really liked their last record Ritual, which got some attention and seemed to have them poised for a comeback while also being their heaviest album in 2 decades. but perhaps the more aggressive sound was caused by band tension. Or his son having cancer, which played a big role in him going religious. And to specify, Dero becoming religious/conservative wouldn't be so bad if he didn't go straight to the extremist/fundamentalist side of it. part of me hoping its just gonna be a phase and he'll eventually tone down and with the extremist conspiracy stuff
As of recent events, you could also add Tilian Pearson to Dance Gavin Dance as well. They just can't seem to catch a break with having good singers who are terrible people.
What happened with Days Of The New is sad. Seriously, I love the first record and the potential that the band had was great. I still enjoy the yellow album but Meeks just crossed a point of no return. About Axl Rose, I still wish there's a documentary about the whole Chinese Democracy recording. I believe those sessions were CRAZY.
Days of the new was one of the bands that got me back into rock. As a young teen I was all about hip hop. I grew up around country, classic rock, metal, alternative. I heard, liked but said I didn’t cause hip hop was cool, new n the thing to be into 🤣 young n dumb. As I got older. I heard Days of the New Touch, Peel n Stand, Creed’s My own Prison, Sevendust first album (all from seeing a shirt an older friend wearing shooting basketball, liked, had to buy the album, he told me they where great and still my favorite band, seen 8 times) n Staind’s Mudshovel. Got all their albums and opened the door to my closed mind. A person can like whatever music they want. It would’ve been great if Travis was able to handle his disorder cause DOTN where great. Love their first album. I couldn’t believe he was 18, year older than me when it came out. He sounded like he would be my fathers age, an older wiser man. It is sad but life is crazy…
Also, crabby uncle Aaron is just too pathetic and cringy to keep paying attention to, especially since he's doing the "everybody hates me for being Conservative" BS, same as Boomer Rock.
A Girl who worked at a big resort somewhere in South America made a video. She waited on Guns N Roses and was a very big GnR fan. She took one picture of Axl from the back and it showed him w/ very short hair. I guess he might get extensions. Axl complained and the Girl was fired. When She was leaving work some reporters were outside & interviewed her and She even showed them a tattoo she had on her back of GnR. He got her fired for 1 picture and now She has to walk around with this huge GnR tattoo every single day. He could have just asked her to delete the photo. His hair is really short and he looks really fat- I guess thats why he complained. This poor Girl was crying so hard. She lost her job and now she has to live the rest of her life knowing her favorite singer had her fired. that tattoo was really big too, from the middle of her back to the bottom of her back.
thrown in The Glitter Band - 70's British glam rock band and they were the backing back¹ (release stuff as their own²) for G Glitter ¹ backing band for the guy during Top Of The Pops ² they release albums under The Glitter Band without the guy
A bit of a unique suggestion that came to mind: 10 guitarists/singers/drummers/keyboard players who made a better band after being removed from their prior one. I've seen very few bands where a member has been removed or kicked from the band and gone onto do far better.
I saw Travis Meeks at a small bar in Illinois. He was over an hour late, then approached me trying to cop Vicodin. I told him to go play his guitar and perform. He stood and tuned his guitar for over 20 minutes and after one horrible song my wife and I left.
There's a reason why "Puddle of Mudd" is the artist played on repeat in The Bad Place along with "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer." Points to anyone who gets this reference!
I've watch TGP through about four times and don't remember that. I do, however, remember an attempt where Eleanor's soulmate is a golden retriever, and I wanna see that attempt in full
McCafferty sound like a band I would be really into sonically. Too bad about frontman Nick Hartkop though. (I would highly suggest watching Nate the Mate's 3-part series on their rise and fall.)
They're not as big or well known as a lot of bands on this list, but Nachtmystium would've been good. Their singer Blake Judd has had problems with drugs and ripping off fans over the years.
@@HattieJosh Okay, sweetie. I've been a fan of Smashing Pumpkins for over two decades and I hate Billy. You clearly just have low standards for how someone should act. Or you're just as insufferable and pretentious as Billy.
Some thoughts on each person: Finally. Somebody that calls out Jonny Craig for his heinous actions. It honestly baffles me how so many people either don't know or are completely ignorant to the fact that he's a horrible person. So many people don't seem to realize this about Tommy Vext either. It's still depressing to hear about what happened to Travis Meeks, considering how great the debut album was from Days of the New. I really hope he can get his act together sometime. Trashbag Brown, Wes Scantlin, Scott Stapp and Axl Rose are themselves. Not much I have to say about them, even though Trashbag Brown is way worse than the other three. Even though Tim Lambesis has clearly been trying to better himself and move forward, I personally am no longer comfortable supporting AILD due to what happened. While they were already planning to split, I feel awful for the other three members of Brand New. Their entire music careers were destroyed due to one person's past actions. They could try and form a new band, but fans will probably not be able to separate them from their more successful project. I'm also not really surprised to find out that Jared Leto has allegations toward him. Of course, they get swept under the rug, despite many news media outlets reporting this information.
I was actually surprised As I Lay Dying wasn't mentioned, Tim Lambesis intended for a very heinous thing to happen and even after being released he doesn't really seem to be that remorseful. I stopped listening to them for years because of what happened, and even though some of the songs on their newest album after his release are pretty good I won't go out of my way to listen to them.
I wouldn’t lump Scott Stapp in with the others. He’s not actually a bad person. He had undiagnosed bipolar disorder. They didn’t catch it until he had a psychotic break. Since being diagnosed and getting on proper meds, he’s had no issues and is known for being unbelievably nice to fans that approach him in public. Jonny Craig is human garbage. He had to go to court 2 weeks ago because they found fentanyl in his 1 year old baby’s bloodstream.
Would you like more soy in your diet? Don't know much about Mr Craig, but sorry calling Tommy Vext a horrible person?? He didn't say anything vicous...you just don't like that he said Trump wasn't doing as bad as people said and that he didn't like what your antifa mates were doing because it solved no problem relating to BLM. Truly despise people like you!
I saw Travis Meeks many years ago. He was hard to deal with. They did a 9 hour sound check. Wanted the bar owner to bring him *STUFF*... Refused to play.. Finally played... Sounded awesome.. My buddy opened up for them and at the end of the show me and my buddy tried to get a selfie with him and he said no. I was like bro this guy was your opening act it is the least you could do. He put down his gear and took the photo.
Stapp was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.. when you mix that and drug alcohol use it is ddisastrous.. he has really been working on himself and I pray he sticks with it. His voice is amazing
I saw a couple of the videos Scott Stapp posted online. "Cringe-worthy" is an understatement. It came out later that he was bipolar and was put on medication to help him. I know it doesn't excuse his crappy behavior, but I do feel sorry for him in the respect that he has mental health issues. Creed did reunite to release another album in 2009 "Full Circle". It wasn't as good as "My Own Prison" or "Human Clay" but it was a lot better than Nickleback's stuff.... I think Stapp is a talented person, but I just do not like his solo work. It's not metal or even hard rock like Creed was. It's closer to soft rock. No thank you. (No offense to him, it's just not something compatible with my ears or brain)
Kind of surprised you didn’t mention that after Travis Meeks fired the original band, the band members went on to form Tantric and were very successful proving that it was the band more than Meeks who was responsible for their success
I know they're in no particular order as usual, but I still appreciate Axl and Leto being saved for last after Lambesis for the sheer insanity between them.
Aaron Lewis from Staind and Morrissey from The Smiths are honorable mentions I would add. Yeah, they went more alt-right than alt-rock a while after their respective bands called it quits, but it still tarnishes the legacies of those bands quite a bit for some people. Jared Leto really do be morbin’ tho #MorbiusSweep
@@RockedNet Luke, you need to talk about the Welsh band that should not be named one day you can't keep putting it off. Enough time has passed we all need to talk about it.
@@thomasanderson2757 There's not really much you can say about them besides "Think of the worst crime a person can commit against a single individual, that's what their lead singer did".
At one point Jared Leto was an incredible singer. Those first two 30stm albums are god tier. I think he does well acoustically nowadays, but when its a 30stm show he only sings like 12 words the entire show...
When I saw 30 StM live, every song with awesome, epic high vocal parts was replaced with Jared playing it acoustic and whispering the high parts. He spent half the set taking his shirt off to appease the teen girls in the audience.
Dude, you are so funny. I love your videos. As a musician and huge rock music fan I find your channel absolutely stellar. Your take on things and even your facial expressions speak volumes. Are you a musician also? I think so but not sure. Hope you are well.
the worst of all to me: lost prophets....I really loved their sound in my teenager years and would love to listen to them again, however knowing what that guy did kind of makes it impossible 😭
I know, some great songs. Really cast a shadow over Pontypridd (my home and theirs), as they pulled up lyrics they had laid on a paved area. Feel so sorry for the rest of the band.
Honestly I would burn their music and never think about it again. He r*aped a baby and filmed it, made a mother abuse her baby for him and was an absolute evil monster.
For me, I think the band that I didn't get around to (but wanted to), then allegations came out was Daughters. Also: as far as Leto is concerned, my favorite roles of his was in American Psycho and Requiem for a Dream. Specifically the parts where he either dies (as a character) or has his arm amputated.
As much as I’m not a fan of Scott Stapp, he is the reason we now have Alter Bridge and Tremonti, 2 of my favorite bands of all time. Oh, and Myles Kennedy’s work with Slash is phenomenal as well
I was going to correct the nationality, but I decided not to because I remembered who we're talking about. Also this is a 3 month old comment so it's too late at this point.
I'm REALLY late to this, but 3 bands I'd add that were ruined by their lead singers are: -The Smiths (because of Morrissey) -Hedley (because of Jacob Hoggard) -Blood on the Dance Floor (because of Dahvie Vanity) Still super salty about the second one as a former fan of them.
30STM is a tragic story of wasted potential. They could've easily stood alongside MCR in that brief window of theatrical emo-flavored arena rock being THE thing, and they have some truly GREAT songs; The Kill, From Yesterday, Beautiful Lie, etc. all 00s classics. Unfortunately Jared Leto thought himself talented enough to be an actor AND a rock star, when really he should've just picked one, stayed with it, and improved his craft as either a musician or an actor. Now he's just a so-so actor with a creepy reputation and several recent box office bombs of note to his name, and 30STM have been relegated to the also-rans of the emo era. Sad, really.
Can't help but to notice that all the songs you mentioned are actually the singles. Is there any good stuff in the albums that didn't hit the radio or anything? I think *that's* what defines if a band is good or not.
Why is it that when I found out Jared Leto had a cult and allegations against him, my first response was, “Yeah, that checks”? He’s just always had the aura of a self-important jagoff about him. I have to admit that the schadenfreude I feel while watching his movie and singing career bomb lately is pretty delicious.
Damn.. I didn’t know about Jesse. Spotify is really inconsistent when it comes to pushing controversial bands onto u. Thx u for covering these, even if I enjoy the music, I struggle to support artists who do deplorable things who are still making money off it.
It's a shame that Tim ruined As I Lay Dying. Their comeback album was really good too. It sounds like he's tough to work with though and I don't blame the other guys for leaving. Tough to work with and tried to have his wife killed. I don't think I could be in a band with him either.
When I was in high school, me and a friend of mine loved She Hates Me by Puddle of Mudd. Now and days when I listen to it, I still love it, but that’s mostly a combination of nostalgia and laughing at how dumb it is.
Don't worry, we also don't talk about that particular Welsh band anymore in Wales. In fact no one I know who had met him had a good thing to say about the singer even before everything came out about him.
the 30 sec to mars one hurts the most for me. me and my fiancé hold the song the kill (bury me) as very special to us. I can't bring myself to stop loving that song but I hate what Jared Leto has become.
Wouldn't Marylin Manson fit the list too? I mean, I like most of the songs he put out, but the guy is know for a lot of shenanigans on stage, and for the stuff that happened recently
Didn't know about the singer from Days of the New. Honestly, probably because I kinda forgot about the band, despite actually buying all three albums, new, back in the day.
Given how Camp Mars exists and how it feels like some weird Jared Leto cult, yeah, I’m not surprised that these guys are on this list. It’s a shame to because they used to be great.
Nostalgia is an extremely powerful thing, and everyone who grew up with "Headstrong" when it was everywhere probably make up almost all of those numbers. I personally haven't listened to a Trapt album from start to finish since 2010's "No Apologies," before all the most talented members and producers had left the band.
I straight up laughed when I saw emo joker in the title card 😂 excellent video! I didn't even know about a few of these and definitely didn't know about the Island lol
To this day I still maintain that Days of the New should've seen at least Creed levels of success (hell, they both started gaining notoriety at around the same time).
They toured together too. In 1997 Creed opened for Days. Just a couple years after Creed got huge, Days of the New opened for them for the Weathered tour.
The Brand New situation makes me so upset. I had been a massive fan of their music (I still love albums like The Devil & God… and Science Fiction) and their music had such a big impact on my life, so when the news came out I was devastated. They really became the Smiths of emo with that. Jeez.
I hate how I wanted to get into Brand New super late into their life (this was after Science Fiction came out) and now I feel icky knowing what came directly after. It ruins trying to get into a band you want to like and then you find something like that.
30STM were my favourite band as a teenager. That America album fills me with rage every time I even think about it. And as for Jared himself... I don't relate to him like I did. He was always kind of eccentric, but I think he's taken it too far. Now that I'm an adult a lot of what he's up to these days makes me feel really uncomfortable. And Tomo leaving the band broke my heart. I saw them last in 2018, days before the official announcement that he was leaving, and the whole concert I was bothered by a) where he was, b) why his absence wasn't even mentioned and c) that they were carrying on fine without their guitarist?! When I heard that America thing, it all fell into place.
It’s a shame about Jesse Lacey, as I genuinely love Brand New, and they’re easily one of my favorite bands. Now I can’t not think about that while listening to their stuff 😕
I stopped listening cold turkey, because the lyrics and vocals were clearly complete bullshit knowing what a piece of garbage Jesse has been the whole time.
It's probably fair to bring up Megadeth in this conversation given Dave Mustaine's past behavior and statements. I absolutely love the band but the dude is fucking nuts plus former bandmate Ellefson had a bit of a sex scandal. The number of musicians who have been in and out of Megadeth speaks for itself.
Out of all of these, which one hurts you the most, Luke? Which of these is a band you loved/still love, but you feel like you can't listen to them because their singers are douches?
I'm honestly surprised that we didn't see Mr. Ronnie Radke on this list. Dude is another attempted unaliver, as back in 2008 he got kicked from Escape the Fate because of that, and this formed legendary trashcore band Falling in Reverse, where he has continued his mindless shenanigans while also not even being a good singer.

The best thing that can be said about Axl Rose and Scott Stapp is that thanks to the two of them having ‘Crazy’ set to 11 for years, we got Alter Bridge and a side order of Miles Kennedy singing with Slash.
We also got Velvet Revolver and Mark Tremonti's solo work.

I've personally erased GnR from my "liked" bands, won't listen to them or go see them, after Axl took a chance to be the hero, and caused a riot after James Hetfield got burned by pyro on stage.
2 points for Kennedy
In case anyone's curious, Stapp's been clean for about 6 years and is doing great. He turned his life around and turned his past issues into art with his new music.
That hack never deserved a first chance, let alone second.

It’s heartbreaking to see what happened to Travis Meeks. Another sad case of hard drugs destroying someone’s life. There’s a mugshot from his most recent arrest, and he looks completely unrecognizable in it. Kids, don’t do meth or heroin. It’s not worth it.
Or any drugs, for that matter. Unless it’s prescribed by a doctor, just don’t do it.
Stick to weed edibles
Didn’t he have some mental issues as well, even before the drugs?
He was the one who found Mike Starr dead, too, which could've only helped him spiral even further. Meeks is a more empathetic person than others on the list, IMO.
He was so young when he got big, imagine where’d he be now if he was 100% there.
It's worth noting that Scott Stapp was diagnosed as bipolar and most of those "episodes" were before he was medicated. I've seen him on tour a few times over the years and he still puts on a killer show.
This. His latest solo project is awesome.
@@NexusKin Tremonti is a beast. His solo work and what he's done with Alter Bridge is awesome.

Absolutely, Gerard, Frank, Ray, and Mikey are gifts from god (I’m not religious that’s just a fact)
That second album is fire though
I believe he was repenting for any bad decisions he made through his song lyrics well before any accusations

Finally.
They were mentioned. :-)
@@paulekylou You're right, I was high as fuck LOL
Scott has talent?
I fucking love Creed. If loving Creed is wrong then I don't want to be right. Fuck the haters lmao
@@houston1342 He's the one with a record deal. I don't see you with one.
@@rawkguy4896 AMEN. I loved "My Own Prison" and a lot of their other songs. It's sad that Scott has mental health issues.
Alter Bridge is better anyway. Mark Tremonti was always the real talent in Creed. Stapp was a poser.
Kind of surprised you didn’t mention that after Travis Meeks fired the original band, the band members went on to form Tantric and were very successful proving that it was the band more than Meeks who was responsible for their success
We need to keep Jared Leto away from comic book movies.
Jared Leto Got His Head Up His Ass After Being PraisedFor His Role In The Batman Movie He Was In. (Not Suicide Squad, the other one.)
He was in another Batman movie?
American Psycho?
I know they're in no particular order as usual, but I still appreciate Axl and Leto being saved for last after Lambesis for the sheer insanity between them.
Aaron Lewis from Staind and Morrissey from The Smiths are honorable mentions I would add. Yeah, they went more alt-right than alt-rock a while after their respective bands called it quits, but it still tarnishes the legacies of those bands quite a bit for some people.
Jared Leto really do be morbin’ tho #MorbiusSweep
Good mentions indeed. Can't argue.
@@RockedNet Luke, you need to talk about the Welsh band that should not be named one day you can't keep putting it off. Enough time has passed we all need to talk about it.
He's trying to keep his videos yt friendly. I understand why he can't do it.
@@thomasanderson2757 There's not really much you can say about them besides "Think of the worst crime a person can commit against a single individual, that's what their lead singer did".
@@rubywest5166 I have no idea who this band is or what he did.
1:00 This the "I Bring The Darkness" guy (Baron Corbin's Lone Wolf theme), now it hits different.
To be honest I had no idea Jared Leto was a musician, I always think he's the joker guy.
At one point Jared Leto was an incredible singer. Those first two 30stm albums are god tier.
I think he does well acoustically nowadays, but when its a 30stm show he only sings like 12 words the entire show...
He's too busy morbing off stage
When I saw 30 StM live, every song with awesome, epic high vocal parts was replaced with Jared playing it acoustic and whispering the high parts. He spent half the set taking his shirt off to appease the teen girls in the audience.
Dude, you are so funny. I love your videos. As a musician and huge rock music fan I find your channel absolutely stellar. Your take on things and even your facial expressions speak volumes. Are you a musician also? I think so but not sure. Hope you are well.
I play bass and used to sing. Still practice bass and was playing on Twitch for a while.
the worst of all to me: lost prophets....I really loved their sound in my teenager years and would love to listen to them again, however knowing what that guy did kind of makes it impossible 😭
I remember hearing about that 🤮
I know, some great songs. Really cast a shadow over Pontypridd (my home and theirs), as they pulled up lyrics they had laid on a paved area. Feel so sorry for the rest of the band.
@@kcvfr400 The rest of the members distanced themselves from him by forming a new band called "No Devotion" (I believe).
He mentioned them at the beginning that was the welsh band he refused to mention
What about when he gets his face beaten in by Edward Norton in Fight Club?
You might also enjoy Lord Of War, which also features a fairly restrained Nick Cage performance
As much as I’m not a fan of Scott Stapp, he is the reason we now have Alter Bridge and Tremonti, 2 of my favorite bands of all time. Oh, and Myles Kennedy’s work with Slash is phenomenal as well
I will say that I saw Puddle of Mudd a couple of years ago and they were actually pretty decent. Hopefully Wes Scantlin has his shit together.
Here's hoping he continues to stay sober.
I was a fan of Creed. Seems like Scott Stapp has gotten his life turned around.
So I was confused about the Welsh Band mentioned, so I googled “Welsh band, notorious singer”
…I am very, *very* sorry that I did
Travis Meeks story always hurts to hear, DOTN is one of my favourite acts of all time
Even without mentioning their name, I knew exactly which "Irish band that shall not be named" you were talking about.
I was going to correct the nationality, but I decided not to because I remembered who we're talking about.
Also this is a 3 month old comment so it's too late at this point.
Scott Wieland: Stone Temple Piolets. . . That dude made me sad. Hope he's feeling better now, rest well Scott.
And also Velvet Revolver, with Slash and Duff McKeegan from Guns N Roses.
Great list, though I gotta say that I'm quite surprised that Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit didn't make the cut.
Not everyone thinks of Limp Bizkit solely because of Fred Durst being Fred Durst.
I think he's just putting on an act.
@@RockedNet They are awful for several reasons. Durst is just the icing on the cake.
I'm REALLY late to this, but 3 bands I'd add that were ruined by their lead singers are:
-The Smiths (because of Morrissey)
-Hedley (because of Jacob Hoggard)
-Blood on the Dance Floor (because of Dahvie Vanity)
Still super salty about the second one as a former fan of them.
I saw 30stm back in 2009, still the best gig I’ve ever been too. Since then I just haven’t bothered with them. Especially after the last album.
And even with their debut album, there were some amazing songs on there.
Leto did win an Oscar tho
Can't help but to notice that all the songs you mentioned are actually the singles. Is there any good stuff in the albums that didn't hit the radio or anything? I think *that's* what defines if a band is good or not.
@@FernandoFernandez_192 Their debut album is amazing and kinda progressive in some areas. I wish they did more of it.
When I was super into the band in like 2005 I had a messenger bag of their's that I got at Hot Topic with the logo "yes this is a cult" so. Yeah.
I think everyone has that nostalgia song that you know is dumb but still laugh and listen to.
He got that from Suicidal Tendencies song I Saw Your Mommy, Lol
@@pyre13 what?
Control is a badass song though. The way it just comes roaring in at the start sounds heavy as f.
I'm actually surprised Phil Anselmo (Pantera) missed the cut.
For a sec i thought the welsh band he was talking about was bullet for my valentine and i got so fucking scared
Being from Louisville, Days of The New's reunion shows were something that had me jumping for joy. Then.... Meeks was Meeks and it was all over.
Don't worry, we also don't talk about that particular Welsh band anymore in Wales.
In fact no one I know who had met him had a good thing to say about the singer even before everything came out about him.
you are a bigot. they are just minor attracted people.
We still have Bullet For My Valentine.
We also have Skindred and the Stereophonics. So, that's good, at least.
the 30 sec to mars one hurts the most for me. me and my fiancé hold the song the kill (bury me) as very special to us. I can't bring myself to stop loving that song but I hate what Jared Leto has become.
Wouldn't Marylin Manson fit the list too? I mean, I like most of the songs he put out, but the guy is know for a lot of shenanigans on stage, and for the stuff that happened recently
Manson WAS the band, so it might be hard to separate him from it.
I was gonna ask the same thing
Didn't know about the singer from Days of the New.
Honestly, probably because I kinda forgot about the band, despite actually buying all three albums, new, back in the day.
Given how Camp Mars exists and how it feels like some weird Jared Leto cult, yeah, I’m not surprised that these guys are on this list. It’s a shame to because they used to be great.
Jared Leto should go into Politics.
@@mg-ThisHandleIsSoStupid That would be an absolute shitshow.
Also, regarding DGD, I would consider Tilian Pearson as a late entey. He was recently accused of sexual misconduct.
@@lorddoritus6373 Exactly. Like it already isn't?
What’s more shocking is that Trapt still has 2 million+ listeners on Spotify
2 simple reasons for that...
1 there are people in the world who agree
2 people like me who have never heard of this before
I wonder which band he will compare his numbers to next...
Nostalgia is an extremely powerful thing, and everyone who grew up with "Headstrong" when it was everywhere probably make up almost all of those numbers. I personally haven't listened to a Trapt album from start to finish since 2010's "No Apologies," before all the most talented members and producers had left the band.
that's because half of America doesn't think the way you do. God forbid
Trapt doesn't have 2 million listeners, headstrong does
I straight up laughed when I saw emo joker in the title card 😂 excellent video!
Listening to Deja Entendu (especially "Me vs Maradona vs Elvis), it honestly isn't that shocking in retrospect.
I remember playing "Sowing Season (Yeah)" on Guitar Hero 5, that's how I first found out about them.
Yeah seriously, Déjà Entendu is actually one of my favorite albums…sigh…
Brand New will always be one of my favorites
I stopped listening cold turkey, because the lyrics and vocals were clearly complete bullshit knowing what a piece of garbage Jesse has been the whole time.
It's probably fair to bring up Megadeth in this conversation given Dave Mustaine's past behavior and statements. I absolutely love the band but the dude is fucking nuts plus former bandmate Ellefson had a bit of a sex scandal. The number of musicians who have been in and out of Megadeth speaks for itself.
What past behavior would that be?
Out of all of these, which one hurts you the most, Luke? Which of these is a band you loved/still love, but you feel like you can't listen to them because their singers are douches?
In ways, I think of one of my favorite bands - Oasis - but I feel like Liam Gallagher's nonsense is part of the Oasis experience.
Yes, and Scott Stapp has admitted it was him, not the others. But the majority of his faults were mostly self-destructive. Not so much against others.
Understandable mention. Here's hoping bad shenanigans don't continue.
whats with your hate boner for Ronnie? lmfao he got kicked from ETF cuz he went to prison. Some of you just cant let people grow from mistakes.
Lol Ronnie Radkie is one of the greatest songwriters in his genre and FIR is miles ahead of ETF as far as commercial success. So yeah.
my first thought was immediately varg vikernes, and then i remembered burzum never had any other members
