Great video as always man, can we get the reverse of this? Interested to see if you have any guilty pleasures from the likes of Limp Bizkit, Creed, Attila etc.
Probably "Invisible Kid" by Metallica off their St. Anger album. Granted, a lot of the songs off that album don't really have a lot of replay value. But that song to me is by far the worst thing off that album. It's not catchy, music wise, the guitar sounds terribly out of tune, and most shocking of all, the vocals and lyrics are far below the standards that James Hetfield has set for himself over the course of his career. He just sounds weak and uninspired throughout this entire song, which feels like it's about 6 minutes too long to begin with. Really, it should have been left on the cutting room floor, as far as I'm concerned...
As terrible as Bugs is, I love the fact that it exists. It's like they're taking the piss out of the concept of music itself. I'd also like to mention Alice in Chains' Iron Gland. It's a guitar riff Jerry Cantrell liked to play to annoy the other members of the band, and they let him put it on an album in exchange for never doing it again.
@SciFyerGaming great take on that song. like most PJ songs there can be multiple meanings and what it means to us, what it means to Eddie Vedder or the other band members, and what Eddie Vedder says it means to the media, are all different things and can still all be true. Eddie said he had terrible poison ivy at the time and was itching out of his skin and that's why he wrote that song. he got the accordion at a second hand store and was messing around with it. he said he would play that song for people, tell them (with a straight face) it was their next single, and he thought it was the best thing they'd ever done. he talked about it in an interview and he thought it was pretty damn funny. could it also be about his anxiety from fame, being hounded by the media, and being stalked by crazy fans, sure.
Two interesting notes: 1. R.E.M.'s intent with Shiny Happy People was supposed to be satire of something that happened in China, where they covered a violent bombing with murals of "shiny happy people". Obviously the satire failed and it became a cheesy as hell song. 2. No one except Axl knew of My World's existence when recorded. Axl made it all by himself two weeks before the album released. The band didn't even know it existed until after the album came out.
When the album came out, I played it for my friend Vicki, and she said "He's just being silly, isn't he?". That's a good way to describe My World. The song isn't bad, it's just silly. When he did the Charles Manson cover? THAT WAS BAD.
The story about Shiny Happy People being about China censoring news of a terrorist bombing, or the Tiananmen Square Massacre is an urban legend. The band has never said that was the case and Michael Stipe explicitly said the opposite, that it was unironically a happy pop song and that he hates it. R.E.M. fans really want that song to secretly not be twee trash. sorry folks.
Propaganda seemed weird to me at first, but then I realized what I’d been missing the whole time. Man, the contrast between slick, sexy guitar with funky groove in the verse and computerized voice in the chorus is what makes this tune so amazing, full off crazy silliness which is what I love this band for.
simulation theory as a whole really comes alive in a live setting. And like I went it not loving the album not hating it, and after the concert I genuinely enjoy the album now that I can see the concept better behind the album.
Saw the Simulation Theory Tour in Chicago, it was so awesome! giant robots! it was quite the experience. and i do agree that Get up and Fight is worse than Propaganda, at least Propaganda has personality!
I'd argue that Get Up And Fight and Something Human are two of Muse's worst songs. The former is so generic in terms of rock, and latter is so boring and generic period.
Yeah, I think the list avoided Metallica cuz it would be too obvious, and with St. Anger, it would be hard to choose just one as the worst. Maybe Shoot Me Again, or All Within My Hands? (The latter at least became the name for a great charity!)
I honestly have a real soft spot for Shiny Happy People. It's honestly so kid-friendly happy that it goes all the way to legit creepy and unnerving (which I think was the original intention of the song). It's like the theme song for a cult. And I always have a fondness for songs that initially seem happy and fun yet are anything but.
Ill admit i do too, and thats coming from a huge REM fan, who normally hate it. I genuinely like the guitar riff, vocal chemistry is nice, and i like the waltz interludes it has.
I found "All in the Family" hard to stomach even as a middle-schooler (though IIRC I always took it as them playing characters who are supposed to be ultra-edgy morons).
Yeah, I always thought it was supposed to be ironic. Like, they're obviously playing characters. It's this edgy rap battle with 'u gay' type insult lyrics throughout but near the end they do a complete 180 and basically accidentaly come out as homosexuals and try to shake it off right after. I think that's kinda funny if you think about it this way.
@@seevanhawkins4591 Same! Seriously fucked up lyrics, but I sing them all when it comes on. I'm also not really a fan of A.D.I.D.A.S. but I know all the words...
As a Brit, I profusely apologise for Genesis' Illegal Alien.

SteliosSeven No need to apologize...………………….I'm an American and it's one of my guilty pleasures. (The video is hilarious too!). STRONGLY DOUBT it was meant to be taken seriously.
I'm sure it was written in jest. I remember watching the video as a kid and thinking it was funny, not offensive. At least it's not creepy like Land of Confusion.
I will say all in the family by korn has one of the best instrumentation behind it, wish I could get an instrumental version of it because it really goes hard…
xennialpride80 yeah, I came to recommend the ToddinTheShadows Trainwreckords On Cut The Crap Mick Jones did better in Big Audio Dynamite. Recommended if you like Sandanista! & Combat Rock or the stuff he wrote earlier like “Lost In The Supermarket”
Shiny happy people is a good song, it just doesn’t fit in with R.E.M’s catalogue. I can see why people don’t like it (I don’t like it a lot of the time), but there are days when I wanna hear it in all its cheesiness (same goes for High and Dry by Radiohead).
I recognize one of the backing singers as also being a member of the B-52s, who like REM came from Athens, Georgia. I would assume the two bands decided to collab on this song.....which is odd considering how DIFFERENT they really are from each other. Imagine the B-52s trying to do a song as dead serious as "Losing My Religion". Nope!
Wait i actually like Pink Cellphone... Not for the lyrics at all, but as english is not my language i didn't even fully realize what it's about. The psychedelic electro sound of the tune is really cool for me 🤷♂️
From what I understand, 'My World' was snuck onto the tracklist by Axl at the very end and it was recorded largely without the band's knowledge. Apparently, it was his attempt to sound like Nine Inch Nails.
Fun fact I’ve only listened to deftones a few months and I already knew that it was gonna be pink cellphone without knowing public opinion . I love Saturday night wrist but when I heard it I was baffled I thought it was a dumb filler thing
Honestly, All in the Family is very on brand, but poorly executed. I feel there was bit of making fun of the underground rap battle culture (which this clearly was), and JDs lyrics were often offensive. Think of Clown, Daddy, and Fagit. Hell, ADIDAS. Though, to be fair, ADIDAS could also be on this list and it would be difficult to argue his reasons, and I do believe it might be their shame song, I know it's Head's shame song. And to be even more fair, Daddy wasnt offensive to be shocking, or to develop a musical style, although it did both. Daddy, imo, will remain their opus. Despite being a difficult listen lyrically, the song is genius, and is important to those who suffered a similar abuse to know they are not alone. Well, I guess that was an unneeded tangent. I apologise.
Vitalogy was one of my favorite albums in high school & I always loved when Bugs came on. 16, alone in my room, time to get silly, dance & sing gibberish Vedder about the pressure society attacks us with to conform. Shit...you ALL really think the song is about actual bugs lol! After Tremor Christ & Nothingman, one needs an emotional break
I think Stand is more cheesy than Shiny Happy People in my opinion, SHP is a fantastic upbeat song with incredible melodies in my opinion. Love that guitar part in the chorus as well as the female vocal part. The song still does make me feel good to this day.
That Green Album is one of my favorites from REM, but they did have a couple of slow cheesy songs, which I cannot remember the titles, but I do remember skipping them when I played the CD. Stand was overplayed in 89, but I still really like Get Up and Pop Song 89. Monster in 1994 was actually my favorite REM album and I was pretty familiar with their early 80s titles. After 1994, they fell off my radar.
I think I have a more positive opinion of Shiny Happy People because I was young enough to only ever hear it in two places (and both had a profound effect on me to the point that I really only associate the song with these), an episode of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, when she went to an alternate universe where everyone was sad and angry, and an episode of Angel, where it represented everyone being happy all the time, but only because they were under the magical influence of a worldwide Supreme Leader demon goddess who took human sacrifices and killed anybody who wasn't completely happy and obedient. So I always accociate the song with a tinge of irony, or general "wrongness", which makes it play differently
PJ played Bugs live in Philly in 2009 and Eddie wasn’t sure he should keep playing it but everyone spurred him into finishing it. I never liked that song either but in the moment I kind of wanted to hear the whole thing too,I haven’t listened to it since though
I remember up until that song, the perception of R.E.M. was that they were joyless and pretentious. I think that song did a lot to obliterate that perception. It's a perfectly fine, albeit hokey and syrupy, pop song. And, in my opinion, the inclusion of Kate Pierson gives it a little quirky pop credibility.
"British people have bad teeth." Well... they have a really solid health care system but never really bother to use it for fixing teeth soooooooooooooooooooo... yeah.
Actually, from a health standpoint, their teeth are significantly better than us in the USA. The issue is that what makes teeth healthy isn't what makes them look pretty.
I think it was just a "fun" song they did because they were touring together and were friends - should've been a hidden track or bonus track at the end of the album or something.
When Vitalogy came out I was reading Metamorphosis by Kafka for a college class. Bugs and Metamorphosis went quite well together as compliment piece of art to each other. While I did not appreciate either at the time, both have aged well with me. But yeah, I'm not gonna be calling out for Bugs at a concert, but I won't skip it either when listening to the album.
I was actually pretty disappointed when I saw Pearl Jam live and they didn't play bugs, there was even a dude holding a sign "play bugs". I love whoever had that sign btw.
My one defence of Young & Menace is that it's helped me focus my hearing and struggle less with noisy environments. It's by no means a good song but it's had a positive impact on me in a similar way to Revolution 9 by The Beatles.
I absolutely loved bugs from Pearl Jam. It's clearly a joke of a song. I just love the line, " Do I trick them? I Don't think they're dumb!" Cracks me up every time.
In the defence of Korn, they were druggies when the recorded their older stuff, and Jonathan was most likely high and/or drunk during the writing and recording process of All In The Family.
I saw Pearl Jam play Bugs the first time live, they did it 10/31/09, in Philly. Someone made a large donation to their charity with the request for them to play the song.
Sees Matt Bellamy in the thumbnail Me: Oh no... Sees the song highlighted is Propaganda Me: ah, ok with that aside, i actually like most of Simulation Theory. cuz im a huge muse fan who's been to a handful of Muse concerts, Hearing Propaganda live consisted of me focusing more on the latex dancers than the actual song lol
Pearl Jam didn't play Bugs live until like 2009 when they were in Philly and doing every song they ever released over 4 nights. It was played on the last concert ever at the Spectrum on Halloween. They played 42 songs that night. The crowd loved it when he pulled out the accordion, they knew what they were getting into.
Linkin Park - Battle Symphony, Nightwish - Ghost River, Iron Maiden - The Angel and the Gambler, Dream Theater - You Not Me, Avenged Sevenfold - Hail to the King, Suicide Silence - Dying in a Red Room, Stratovarius - Maniac Dance, Van Halen - Fire in the Hole, Queensrÿche - Wot We Do
Pink Cellphone is one of my FAVORITE songs from Saturday Night Wrists. I didn’t like it at first, but the whole song is so weird and uncomfortable that it’s actually quite brilliant. I get why people don’t like it though.
The Megadeth album "Risk" was actually quite aptly named. I seem to recall reading somewhere that one of the band members (the bassist, I think?) made the suggestion, and Mustaine knew it was a risk... hence the album's name.
As a diehard fan of both eras of Genesis, I think that their self-titled album is really good; songs like "Mama", the "Home by the Sea" suite, and "Just a Job to Do" are among the best of the Phil Collins era. It's a shame that "Illegal Alien" is also on it. That song alone is what keeps me from calling the album a masterpiece.
Same , i love all their work from Foxtrot to We Cant Dance, and IMO that LP has some great cuts on it. Even ones some older fans hate like Taking It All Too Hard and Thats All. But to me, Illegal Alien did for it what Who Dunnit did for Abacab.
MitchNin10dofan man, the ONLY one?! I know everyone has different tastes in music, but I’d highly recommend you also take a listen to Driver 8, Radio Free Europe, Man On The Moon, Loosing My Religion, So. Central Rain... basically any song they made from 1983 to the mid 90s because I refuse to believe that’s the only R.E.M. song you could find any enjoyment in (and I actually like SHP too).
The Based God Max yeah, but even if you only know three, I don’t get how you could like one but not the other two. I assume SHP is the only R.E.M. song Mitch has heard, but I’m probably wrong on that.
I had both Illusions in pirate CDs back in the early 2000's . Illusion 1 came just fine, but strangely Illusion 2 had 2 tracks missing, Don't Cry with alternative lyrics and My World. Somehow the album worked much better this way.
I'm now going to learn to play the accordion so I can be an old man playing Bugs to my neighborhood children. Their parents will be saying "WTF?! This was my U.S. History teacher and NOW this is him".
I once played 'Bugs' for someone who hadn't really listened to PJ much before and jokingly told them that's what most of their songs sound like. 😂 I don't think it's completely terrible. I mean, I thought it was pretty humorous how unexpected it is compared to the rest of the albun and that song actually brings back good memories for me now.
Megadeths Risk is hilarious! Well back checking out your vids, they are awesome. I laugh and cry and here of bands I've never heard of. Or hear a cover I never heard. Just awesome!
Dude I knew it was gonna be pink cellphone just from the thumbnail. I’m subscribed to a Deftones group on Facebook, (mainly because some people might get an album or new track update before I hear about it and they go wild posting the same stuff over and over again) and several times a week someone posts the vulgar lyrics in the song as a joke to see how many people will comment with the rest of the lyrics. Gets annoying after awhile. The funny thing is that the original release had the song end before the dirty part. That version was released soon after on a deluxe edition.
As a metal and heavy music loving high school kid "shinny happy people" was a breath of fresh air on mtv. And all the girls loved to sing it so it was very well received. Nowadays it's super nostalgic and heartwarming to hear. Thinking about all the hope we had for the world and now looking at what we have makes me love it even more!
It's funny. I saw your "10 good songs by bad bands," and legitimately liked majority of those bands. But this video I didn't care for most of the bands. I'm not "butt hurt" about it because like you have said it's just opinions. So legitimately think it's kinda funny. It was entertaining to watch and you're still respectful while being passionate about it so keep doing what you do man.
I actually really love Saturday Night Wrist with a passion. To this day songs like "combat" and "beware" still get to me in a way that some Deftones songs don't............and I friggin love the Deftones!
REM is one of those bands that I know more songs of than I expected when looking back because they always played at some point in my life at more or less important moments. Is REM my soundtrack?
I guess I'd rather have a song be "racist" and "homophobic" than a song that was originally made by Charles fucking Manson of all people. I know "One In A Million" was omitted from their overpriced box set but really, I think that was the pinnacle of their career to be so big that they didn't give a fuck about offending an entire generation of people who witnessed the Manson killings.
@@jakobsanchez738 I actually understand what Axl was going for with that and I think he was trying to just be non-PC, and say it in the most offensive way possible. Well, it worked. Lol and there's a big difference between being non PC and just being completely and over the top unabashedly rude. I think he was trying to be edgy and took it too far and it turned out just being really repulsive in every way possible lol.
Say what you want about “One in a Million”, but at least it still has decent instrumentation. The only thing awful about that song are the lyrics, but Izzy Stradlin and Slash are still awesome. My World is awful from every angle, it’s not good electronic music, Axl Rose is an awful rapper, and the lyrics are way worse in my opinion. One in a Million is offensive and tasteless, but they say horrible shit like that all the time. I’m not even sure One in a Million has even the worst lyrics, Get in the Ring, It’s so Easy, and Back Off Bitch are pretty repulsive. My World is the worst because it doesn’t even have decent music.
I heard Bugs on their Serious XM station for the first time literally 2 hours before watching this video. They did it with a strings section backing them in Philly
My Dad once said that Duke was the most recent Genesis album he liked. And knowing Illegal Alien was after that, I honestly can't really blame him (speaking as someone who liked Invisible Touch).
Shame as its the one song on that album I don't like at all. Several others like Mama, Home by The Sea and Taking It All Too Hard were pretty damn good imo.
mitch3996 II I don’t think it’s a bad song. I think they had good intentions when making the song and I even really like the keyboards but what would have been considered progressive in 1983 comes across as awkward and tasteless by the standards of today
L H ye its certainly one of those that doesnt exactly sound acceptable anymore, a bit like Money for Nothing by Dire Straits and Youre Sixteen by Ringo Starr
mitch3996 II Money for Nothing is fine as long as you understand that you’re not supposed to like the singer. That’s kind of the point of the song. To make fun of the singer. You’re supposed to find what he says morally reprehensible because they’re not a good person.
Blackout- Linkin Park Gen Why- All American Rejects You Burn First- Alexisonfire Hey Baby- No Doubt The Jester- Sum 41 Too Much- All Time Low Princess Of China- Coldplay
@CringeBoi Yeah, The Messenger is pretty awful as well but at least it has meaning, Blackout on the other hand is just 3 minutes of Chester horribly scream rapping
@@KoaAbyss Rocked summed it up best on his regretting the past vid on a thousand Suns as Chester tries to hit the soft vocals and does sometimes, but then let's out a scream that doesn't belong.
I like Shiny Happy People, i never think it was bad. All In The Family is so outdated and cringe but i still have a good laugh with that song from time to time (Fun fact it was played live during the Family Values tour). also My World sound like Axl trying to do a Fred Durst impression before Limp Bizkit was a thing
Genesis in Kansas City, January 29, 1984. There's a recording circulating among fans, in the middle of "Illegal Alien" the music suddenly cuts off and all that is audible is the audience's reaction to the power failure. Phil Collins claims later on in the show that "most of Kansas City went down".
Even amongst fellow FOB fans this is apparently an unpopular opinion but I love Young and Menace! On the flip side My World is so traumatic my brain had completely erased it from my memory.
To be honest, half of Simulation Theory by Muse could fit into this list. Something Human, Propaganda, Break It To Me, etc. Or half of One More Light by Linkin Park.
"Propaganda" and "Break It To Me" are some of the highlights to me imo, since they are at least fun. "Get Up and Fight" and "Dig Down" aren't ones I would consider good.
I saw the Deftones open for KISS in Albany, NY. Each song as given less applause then the one before. They announced "This Will Be Our Last Song" and applause was deafening. They played the song and about four people clapped when it ended. I can explain Illegal Alien by Genesis. *Clears Throat* Phil Collins wrote "Sussudio". So how bad can Illegal Alien really be? Well, it's really bad. But it's written by the same guy who wrote "Sussudio", so you kind of need to see the declining song writing skills in action. And Phil Collins was barely a song writer to begin with.
Unpopular opinion: I never liked pearl jam. And by never liked... i mean, if I had the options of being forced to listen to any pearl jam song... or having to repeatedly bash my head into a concrete wall for 30 minutes... i would bash my head for 45 minutes, just to be safe
To be honest, I alwayes treated "You could be mine" as the closing track of UYI II and alt version of Don't Cry and My World I treat as deleted scenes/outtakes you sometimes see after movie credits end.
i always mixed both albums and treated Coma as the real closer track, second to last is the alternative version of Don't Cry (i love Don't Cry so much that i cannot delete the alt version)
@Rocked its so odd but bugs got me into pearl jam. I remember being at Tower records just looking about not paying attention and bugs came on and snapped me out of my daze. Stayed in the store for another half hour listening to the rest of the album on the store speakers before getting the album. Such a small thing but them bugs got into my head!
As opposed to Pearl Jam's "Bugs," Oingo Boingo had the song "Insects" which Danny Elfman just updated for 2021, and it's spectacular--even if he took out the frenetic horn licks. If you're looking for bug-themed music, it's reliably awesome in either form...
“Rock ‘N Roll High School” by The Ramones “All in the Family” by Korn feat. Fred Durst “Kill the DJ” by Green Day “Revolution 9” by The Beatles “Kokomo” by The Beach Boys (more or less the Mike Love led era of)
John Koch I mean, I’m a die hard fan of both bands I think off the white album, it’s the one I skip the most because it’s long and meaningless. As for Rock ‘N Roll High School, Pet Semetary is the better Ramones song from a based on a movie
Never heard the first two or ‘Revolution 9’ but I rather enjoy ‘Kill the DJ’ (for as dumb and corny as it is), and ‘Kokomo’ is a hell of a lot better than what I’ve heard from that Trainwreckord (😉) that is Summer in Paradise.
regarding "All in the Family" by Korn - I actually really like listening to the song. Mind you, I didn't say I like the song, I just like hearing it now and then. For all the reasons that you mentioned I find the song hilarious. Gets a good chuckle out of me every time. On a different note: It really grinds my gears that in this video you put the song title on top and the band name below while in the follow up video it's the other way around. Minor inconsistencies make my eyes bleed XD
I haven't listened to Vitalogy in awhile. Why did you have to remind me that one of my favorite albums, by my absolute favorite band, has "Bugs" on it? A song that can only be explained by paraphrasing Rick James: "Heroin is one hell of a drug."
"Bugs" made me scratch my head the very minute it started playing, but even so, I would point out two more songs from that album which also sound horrible to me: "Aye Davanita" and "Hey foxymophandlemama, that's me"

As terrible as Bugs is, I love the fact that it exists. It's like they're taking the piss out of the concept of music itself.

ColeYote that’s not really a song it’s more of just a filler piece considering it’s like 45 seconds

@SciFyerGaming great take on that song. like most PJ songs there can be multiple meanings and what it means to us, what it means to Eddie Vedder or the other band members, and what Eddie Vedder says it means to the media, are all different things and can still all be true. Two interesting notes:
I prefer to The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonighte which sounds like another band trying to be REM.
When the album came out, I played it for my friend Vicki, and she said "He's just being silly, isn't he?". That's a good way to describe My World. The song isn't bad, it's just silly. When he did the Charles Manson cover? THAT WAS BAD.

i really like "shiny happy peoples", i don't see why the dislike for it by listeners and the band??? but my god is "my world" a terrible song!!😂🤣😂
@SavageGreywolf Huh. Never knew that. Thanks for telling me.
I know “Shiny Happy People” is incredibly cheesy, and I completely agree with putting it on the list, but I do have to admit it’s a guilty pleasure.
Big D same
The thing that always amazes me is that that same album has "Low" on it. Just the complete opposite to "Shiny Happy People".
I always liked it thinking it was actually ironic and bitter
I love the irony in the song style
Me too, I've always forgiven it's cheesiness because it was intentional. Many people just didn't get it though lol
Propaganda seemed weird to me at first, but then I realized what I’d been missing the whole time. Man, the contrast between slick, sexy guitar with funky groove in the verse and computerized voice in the chorus is what makes this tune so amazing, full off crazy silliness which is what I love this band for.
Looking for someone else willing to defend this wild song, GUAF is a way way worse song cause its so generic
simulation theory as a whole really comes alive in a live setting.
I must be blinded by fandom because I love this song.

Learning Kate Pierson was in it, I realized that Shiny Happy People could potentially have worked better as a B-52's song.
It was a joint effort. And this list seems more of a personal taste issue than objective criticism.

I thought it was a fun way of ripping into each other and wasn’t supposed to be serious and that’s what I like about it
Yeah it a great song . It’s fun
It was clearly never meant to be taken seriously, so I can forgive it lol.
I found "All in the Family" hard to stomach even as a middle-schooler (though IIRC I always took it as them playing characters who are supposed to be ultra-edgy morons).
Still love the song.

Exactly. Bugs is the closest Pearl Jam ever came to making a Tom Waits song and I love the fact that they there.

I want to hear Pearl Jam try again at a Tom Waits-esque song... but not a second "Bugs". Both possess more musical variety.

Nope!

From what I understand, 'My World' was snuck onto the tracklist by Axl at the very end and it was recorded largely without the band's knowledge. Apparently, it was his attempt to sound like Nine Inch Nails.

@Strawbry_burst27 The song with Ice Cube is pretty bad as well
follow the leader is awesome.
@@ronstoppable5659 Don't hate on Children of the Korn. Ice cubes part in that is awesome.
That and the one after are usually a pass for me. I don’t hate Reclaim My Place but it’s definitely a weaker Korn song

I think Stand is more cheesy than Shiny Happy People in my opinion, SHP is a fantastic upbeat song with incredible melodies in my opinion. Love that guitar part in the chorus as well as the female vocal part. The song still does make me feel good to this day.
I agree. SHP has some redeeming qualities whereas Stand is just aggressively awful with nothing really redeeming about it.
I have a soft spot for "Stand" tho because of Parks and Rec.

Apparently just like I’m the only Megadeth fan that likes breadline.

When Vitalogy came out I was reading Metamorphosis by Kafka for a college class. Bugs and Metamorphosis went quite well together as compliment piece of art to each other. Vitalogy is Pearl Jams best album. This song was just a brainfart
In the defence of Korn, they were druggies when the recorded their older stuff, and Jonathan was most likely high and/or drunk during the writing and recording process of All In The Family.

Say what you want about “One in a Million”, but at least it still has decent instrumentation. The only thing awful about that song are the lyrics, but Izzy Stradlin and Slash are still awesome.

That's a good way to look at it honestly
i always mixed both albums and treated Coma as the real closer track, second to last is the alternative version of Don't Cry (i love Don't Cry so much that i cannot delete the alt version)
@Rocked its so odd but bugs got me into pearl jam. I remember being at Tower records just looking about not paying attention and bugs came on and snapped me out of my daze. As opposed to Pearl Jam's "Bugs," Oingo Boingo had the song "Insects" which Danny Elfman just updated for 2021, and it's spectacular--even if he took out the frenetic horn licks. If you're looking for bug-themed music, it's reliably awesome in either form...
