Do not do this to your carpet. You have a very big chance of destroying it. Not only are the nails on the tack strip too short. That is not a proper way to stretch carpet at all. I have installed carpet for years.
@Cally_jc the problem with this jimmy rig here is that carpet varies in hight. My carpet stretcher has 1 in. Long "nails" with a knob for adjustment. This will help not only with not ripping your carpet but also unthreading it. There is multiple types of carpet threads you don't want to damage.
Like your energy man its awesome but carpet is an arena that you dont want to just jump into, its not like other construction projects, in short do not do this to your carpet, its damaging and pointless
Good idea, saves on those knees too! Just cut and lay a carpet for my mother in law here in the UK. I am leaving iy a few days in place to let it settle before I go back to trim it and was looking to make a carpet stretcher and this works for me. Ive got a few grip rods left to make out of. Cheers!!
Genius!!! I install carpet professionally! I usually just tuck one wall & put some golf shoes on and jump toward the opposite wall... I will give this a try on my job tomorrow! I bet a smaller one of those will work well on stairs too!

This is brilliant!!! Thank you!!! It's perfect!
Thanks Shawn...... I'm laying a carpet tommorow. Great tip.
That's a giant kicker! It's nice that you could use a 10 ft board for a kicker, get a longer stretch.
Thank You! Do you have anymore great ideas?
wonderful. I too am a fellow who likes to build my own stuff. I will be building one also. Thanks
Shawn, did this hold up? Any bubbles or still good? Thank you
Awesome idea! Have leftover rack strip, perfect for this!
Great idea, thanks for sharing!

I can’t tell if you’re serious… if that’s how you stretch carpet, please don’t refer to yourself as a professional…
@@profloors147 what if I use one of these?!
Exactly what I needed thank you!
I can't see
This is great
Wow
You to cheap to buy a real carpet stretcher. You should be ashamed!!
