    These comments sound wonderful but the real test is to get another x-ray on the spine to see if it's getting better and straight again.

    Should you do both sides with S curve scoliosis?
    Also in the exercise with the leg out to the side and elbow on the floor, should both hips be on the floor? To get my elbow on the floor, the opposite hip comes off the floor.
    Thank you.

  • @SharmajiLives

    I have a question. The doctor says the concave is on my left and convex on the right. You say that is dextroscoliosis with the curve to the right. Isn’t that the side where the muscles are tighter causing the curve and the muscles on the left side weaker and stretched causing the concave? When we stretch to the right aren’t we tightening them even more and stretching the left even more? I need to understand. After doing them as you say, all the left side muscles feel like they are contracting which is the point isn’t it? Thanks

    • @AnniePilatesPhysicalTherapist
      @AnniePilatesPhysicalTherapist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The convex side is the stretched side and the concave side is the tight side . And both sides are weak , so it is called stretched weakness on the right for your convex and the tight weakness on your left concave . You will need to open up the left side through stretching at the same time strengthening it in a lengthened position and then strengthening the right side as well but not stretching the convex side further . Hope that helps

    Many cases of idiopathic scoliosis are caused by chronically tight muscles pulling the spine out of alignment. If you have idiopathic scoliosis, you can touch your back and waist and feel how tight your muscles are.
    That is why we should extend the muscle that are pulling the spine. Which means doing all of the video but to the same of your curve not as the trainer is saying.

    If I am not sure about my curve, but I feel more pull (and pain) when I go to the right - is that the side I should lean toward?

    • @suziecue3027
      @suziecue3027 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Get an x-ray. It'll tell you.

    • @loopymomy2532
      @loopymomy2532 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not only will x-ray will help you but if you see a rib hump on the right you should lean the left because your curve is dexto. But if you have no hump when you been you will see mild hump on the right it is dexto. If your right shoulder is pulled up to the right and pulled down to the left it is dexto.
