  • Basic diagnosis for a “Check Gas Cap” light or a P0455 or P0456 code on 1998-2002 Jaguar XJ8, XJR, XK8, and XKR Evaporative system. (Will be different for XK’s) Testing the purge valve and the CCV valve. If both of these valves are functional you may have to smoke test the system.

I'm so happy I saw your video cuz I have evaporated leak in my car too. And I have not been able to fix that leak yet and for some reason the transmission shifts crazy so just watching your video I realize where I need to really fix this evaporative leak ASAP I will update you guys once I'm done with fixing the leaks and how it affected the transmission shifting but it's so bad. Thank you for this video brother thank you

Did this fix your shifting problem? Is your car an X308 XJR?

@@kojoanane that sounds like an X350, if the X350’s share the same issue with the X308’s then a good place to check is the transmission connector itself, the seals will leak and the connector will flood with transmission oil causing it to short out and malfunction in strange ways, and throw off the readings of your pressure sensors making it shift early all round

You are a god man, been having a small EVAP leak on the same jag and replaced the simple stuff "gas cap" but nothing, definitely gonna test my purge valve and CCV

Great video brother appreciate it. So your CCV was the culprit causing poor acceleration and hard shift in the transmission? Sounds like the ccv was your vacuum leak

These cars are very sensitive to vacuum leaks the transmission ECM doesnt like to cooperate if you got even the smallest vaccum leak.

i fueled my jaguar and it wont start ever since..it just wont start...Also i have a problem with the transmission not getting into parking ... so the ca wont start ..i have to wiggle it back adn forth for it to start but now i have nothing but turning of the starter but car wont start .. do i hvae overflow of gas ..before the car gave up on me it was showing signs when i pumped the gas pedal. eventually it stopped having any signs..so i am assuming it might be my purge valve..oh and also i have this GAS cAp check on and off most of my life

You can pull the spark plugs and let the cylinders dry if its really flooded but you should maybe try pulling off the lines at the purge valve after attempting to start it and seeing if theres signs of moisture, follow it to where it connects to the intake and check there aswell?
