    Okay, that slack in the timing chain explanation on the bike is also a PERFECT description of how variable valve timing works, except that there's a little valve that puts the slack in the chain, and makes the valves open later at high instead of low RPM.
    You teach more in 13 minutes than some trade schools can do in 13 weeks.

      I love to share info on odd things...this was good explantion but its a therory until proven it is right.. So we have to try this out and see if it works...We have nothing but a deep electrical to go on..

    • @wanderinggentile
      @wanderinggentile 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bstfordchannel923 It is proven...I had this exact issue on a Chrysler 400. It had no power down low (and one of those stupid nylon gear sets.) Once the slack was taken up, it would do damn near 60 in first gear.

      @@wanderinggentile We tried the tentioner theory that did not work but the engine sounds better for sure lol... who doe sthe plastic timing stuff its just CRAZY why automakers do this bro...At least you found out what it was before it went left

    • @wanderinggentile
      @wanderinggentile 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bstfordchannel923 You're feeling some kind of drivetrain shunt, still. I'm guessing the chain might be stretched a couple of millimeters. That degree or two of slack could be enough to cause spotty driveability when cold and ruin your life hot. It's still like a big cam: if it isn't going fast enough, you don't have enough compression to light the mixture and keep the engine moving, like blowing out a candle. A cold engine is enriched enough to light off.

    Lot going on! I never thought about how similar those jags are to the panther cars.
    Also I really appreciated the clip of your friend explaining how slack in the drivetrain and power train causes those problems. Madr a lot of sense.
    And man I know it is hurting your feelings having those engines and not being able to get them in. They look good though!

    • @bstfordchannel923
      @bstfordchannel923  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yup that bike is the engine i rebuilt... i just added the chain tentioner it sounds good ... now his theory did not work... now we thinking of the clutch / valves but this problem was with the bike before the engine got jammed-up soooo this is just TRYINg to find out the issue... Not really easy we thought of everything.. It runs great though

    Cool video! I was around Jags in the 80s (pre Ford and V8s). They were given a bad rap. A mechanic that knew them could keep them going reliably for really high miles. A mechanic that didn't know what they were doing could destroy one in no time flat! Love the bike angle.

      I had a 80s jag the inline six with the chevy trans on it...They where cool they had a flaw when it over heats the valve buckets lift in the heads ( like mine did ) had to do the head over and add bucket hold downs in the head... other than that it was cool car.. people will not like the bikes do to that it isnt Harley , but i am just given you guy a glimps on what is going on behind the scenes..

      Were the Jags shim over bucket or under? I think all Jags had GM automatics back then. HD is fine by me for other people if that's what they like. I prefer my bikes light, fast, easy to work on, affordable, and good looking, however. I am not a peacock nor do I want to ride in parades. That is HD to me. To truly fix HDs you must address factory flaws, even in brand new ones. Then they are still too heavy with stupid designed chassis!

    My father had a 77 Yamaha 750 shafty. Still brags about it being the smoothest motorcycle up to that time. No jerking at all! Are rubber belts better than a chain? I like those blue valve covers! Makes me think I need to do that with my 4 valve. Wait, no damn way I'm taking those things off again. Side note: should I fix air springs on a 95 continental? If I do I get it for free.

    • @bstfordchannel923
      @bstfordchannel923  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the shaft driven bikes are smooth no question about that... Now the belt drive bikes are smooth also ( Yamaha warrior ) has a belt also.. Now the Chain is what i am use to but I think on a v trip engine it isnt as smooth ( feeling wise ) You should do your valve covers but if its dirty dont even bother lmao... It takes so much time to get it right to be honest..

The LX Sport still has the 03 setup I'll upgrade the throttle body on both cars. The 03 is getting a 3.73 and the aluminum driveshaft like all the other cars. Too bad I can't put a 4V in it, it would definitely look and feel like a Marauder.
