  • To be clear, this did not solve my issue. In fact, my codes came back more certainly. That is, both codes came on solid while previously only one was solid while the other was pending.
    This is just a video to help people doing the replacement of this part for whatever reason.
    Jaguar part # C2C21972
    I will attempt to troubleshoot the issue again or pay a shop to do the diagnosis for me.
    After all, it seems that recently the car has started producing a sound that resembles supercharger whine when I mash on the GO pedal.

    was wondering if u can help...my xk8 has the ticking noise under the left wheel well and it has started throw misfire codes like crazy hard starts etc but once it gets going it runs very smoothly and strong ..im assuming since i can hear the purge valve that this must be the cause of my misfires and so on any thoughts or confirmations?

      Unfortunately I cannot confirm it, but your line of thought seems to be pointing there.
      Talking of which, have you verified your location for the purge valve? If memory serves me right, the XJ8s could have it in one, two or 3 different locations depending on VIN.
      Also, what are the codes you're getting?

      Sorry for the late response, I missed the notification. I sold the car a few years back, and can't remember too much of why I was poking around if not for curiosity's sake.

    I have a 1999 xj8 and is experiencing oil leak. From the valve cover, breather hose is spitting oil into the air vent causing oil deposition in air filter and throttle body. Any ideas to maintain or deal with this problem

      @EdBwoy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't get a chance to work on the X308 generation, but at quick glance this seems to be an issue with the PCV valve.
      Have you looked at all service items in your vacuum system?

      @@EdBwoy yes i did. These jag don have pcv valves. They have breather hoses. Thats what my mechanic said. He said its a blowby. But dont know whats causing it

    • @cichrift9065
      @cichrift9065 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oil catch can or long rebreather tube, also lube your pistons and that should prevent so much blow by.

    this is amazing video I have the same problem. my PCV valve is with some oil and that's why I came to this video but I don't know exactly where is my problem I have the same car is smocking white

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you getting any codes? White smoke is usually not good. Check your coolant levels and also have the system pressure tested if possible.

      @@EdBwoy yes is P0447 the oil pass the pcv valve and go to the throttle body that's why is the oil burning with gasoline the car was totally perfect a few days ago and we don't drive this car heavy no mountains no more than 50 miles an hour i don't think can be pistons valves or something inside the engine

    • @EdBwoy
      @EdBwoy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd try cleaning or replacing the PCV valve to start first. Check the air lines that go into the valve cover to ensure there are no leaks.

      I suggest having a dealer troubleshoot & pinpoint the issue for you so that you don't waste money chasing or replacing the wrong part.
      You can then decide if it is an issue worth tackling yourself or not.
