Thanks for the video. I just returned home from the local Honda dealer where they said they wanted $272 to replace mine on my 2005 Honda Odyssey. If I had a little more experience working on engines, I would do this myself.....but, I'll have a local shop do this and save money there. Thanks again, excellent video, stable and no background noise. I wish more DIY videos were like this!
Gonna try this thanks for the video. My TL has had a leak and I’ve replaced valve cover gasket, spark plug o rings, oil filter housing gasket, oil pressure switch o ring, vtec solenoid gasket, oil pan hondabond reseal, and new drain plug and still no fix.
MrRangerZr1 Im thinking it’s going to be my oil pump it seems to run down the pan and towards the flywheel, it is hard to tell where it is coming from.
@@Arnolschuachenegga crankshaft seals on front and back ? Thing is this Honda J engine blows every gasket possible to breath out crankcase gasses. Once you have everything sealed perfectly like new again... the head gaskets are going to see high oil pressure 🙄
G Lasser it’s definitely the rear main seal I took the inspection cover off (located between the engine and transmission under the car ; next to the oil pan) and there’s oil at the top.
Can this type of leak make its way down and give the appearance that the rear main seal is leaking after removing the bottom cover between engine and transmission the one with the 2 10mm bolts
Same case here with my 2009 odyssey exl. Noticing oil on the bell housing bolts adjacent to transmission drain plug. Not sure if its the main seal or the rear cam cover o-ring. Or perhaps the rear vtec gasket. What was it in your case? Thanks
@Menorahsingh I removed the cover plate that has the 2 10mm bolts and noticed oil in the area. It was a very small leak in my case. I used blue devil rear main seal and it seemed to have worked for now. I will be monitoring the progress on it for sure.
@MrRangerZr1 I removed the plate with the two 10 mm bolts and saw motor oil in the area. For now, it seems like the Blue Devil rms stop leak is working.
Thx so much. I replaced this one (front bank). But having major issues with the back one (2007 EX-L Odyssey)and heavy leaking after trying it twice. When I removed after first attempt the o-ring was torn. Second time I used silicone paste and still major leak. I am only replacing because I was replacing spool valve gaskets (ur video on this is very helpful). I read where someone put this o-ring in the freezer to sharing it and it helped inserting without tearing. Have you heard of this or have other advice? Not sure if I should put plug and o-ring in the freezer or just o-ring.
Yours only has the VTEC solenoid assembly in the rear bank but every J series have this cam cap, or else you'll never get the cam out of the engine if you need to replace it lol
Just wondering if this would work for a 2000 3.0 v6. Your engine cover and intake looks different but everything seriously looks exactly the same rite by the egr and thrust cover. Is this for all v6 models or do you think mines would be slightly smaller/ larger. I think im Overthinking but i did not want to buy the O ring until i knew it was for the same car. I just did both cap seals about a month ago on my 2005 Saturn Vue V6. For the back one, I had to remove the throttle body along with that bypass valve that attaches to back side of the intake. Then there are two lines that attach to the back cap. You have to be meticulous and smaller hands will benefit you. It wasn't too bad overall.
MrRangerZr1 i checked. I just cant find where oil is comming from but its a slow spill guessing it takes couple miles for it to puddle on top of transmission right wher the transmission cable is....idk if if one of them bolts loose😪
Literally about the same maybe easier, instead of having to move the egr on the other side you just have 2 10mm nuts for fuel lines and then 2 12mm bolts for the cover and it just pops out after wiggling and pulling

Thanks for the link to the seal! It was hard to find this part number.
That silicone paste has been discontinued by 3m and is no longer sold commercially. I recommend permatex o-ring grease at AutoZone.

Are you sure it's not any other fluid?
Degrease the engine bay and watch where the leak comes from.

valve cover gasket and this seal and make it seem like it, quite rare for the j series to leak from the RMS, but it can happen if the car was abused.

Just lube the crap out of it, it should slide right in with no issue. You can try lubing it with motor oil as well.
On a 2006 touring vcm, is there a second plate and oring or does the vtech spool valve replace that?

I have to check this part on my 2014. I found a lil puddle of oil on top of transmission
Check if your transmission is overfilled. ATF can spill out from the vent if it's ovefilled.

Atf vent is on top of tranny but my experience it can be a rear cam seal or spool valve seal leaking
Try replacing the rear but keep having the o ring get stuck and ripping 😕 I try Vaseline and still no luck
don't use vaseline that will deteriorate the rubber
Put gasket in freezer to get cold and it will shrink a little...per honda

why do u need the dielectric grease on the 0 ring and lip? wont the oil do that job? cheers!
