Honda quoted me $2500 to do a full oil pump replacement but after some diagnostics and watching this video, I have discovered it's just the oil filter adapter gasket. A $16 part and 1hr of labour. Thank you!
That is one thing I really appreciate about these Honda designs, they make them so that these individual parts are repairable with a simple O-ring and or gasket set. Take their power steering pumps, very expensive, and I am sure the dealerships love selling new ones. The kicker is, just about anyone with some basic hand tools can rebuild one for around $30 or $40, depending on the Honda dealer you purchase the O-rings, seal and bearing from.
Lmfao the kicker with the power steering pumps on the v6 hondas is that they are a pain in the ass to install especially the high pressure line that routes to the rack directly, and if u got a leak on the return line even a more pain the ass problem, and i dont think basic hand tools will suffice for a power steering pump job lol espeically if you need to remove the motor mount to replace ps belt thats connected to the crank pulley
@@ReeseAssadtalk abt pain in the ass .i work at a shop so i stayed overnight to change the ps line that goes to the rack. And I had every tool .the pain in the ass is getting the threads to line up on the rack 🤦♂️was there for abt 3 hours

It’s common on these for the VTEC solenoid (i.e. pressure switch/spool valve) on the V6 to leak. Thank heavens it’s mostly an easy fix. But I wouldn’t replace the main gasket without the mesh filter.
@@crisacevedo5819it helped like 80% but I still have a small leak. It was a real easy fix and cheap. I would recommend it, there is a lot of rubber gaskets. But now it's a small enough leak I don't worry about it now.
I just done a massive oil leak there on my grand daughters Pilot. I was sure surprised when Oreilly's had that gasket in stock. The old gasket had broke in one spot letting pressurized oil come right out above the oil filter.
Man ...that was a good job! I'm convinced that my timing solenoid up top isn't leaking, nor the valve covers. I can't trust anyone to clean up around the seams like you did before reinstallation.

Great video! Thanks! One minor point, I wouldn't recommend spraying cleaner into the open housing. You're better to spray the rag and then wipe it. You could contaminate the oil by doing it the way you did.
GUNK "Engine Brite" or Simple Green are really good cleaners for the outside of the engine block to grt all the old oil grime off. Sprsy them on liberally, let them sit for 10 to 15 minutes to emulsify. Then blast the solvents off with a high pressure gargen hose or power washer.
Subscribed , this is exactly what I was looking for , now I’m having issues with those hoses that seem hard to obtain from what I hear , the ones that connect to my power steering ..
Changed all 3 of the gaskets you did and it still leaks. I remembered the crank shield was dry when I did the spool valve body. Where else can the leaks come from? It's apparently still leaking around the same area (passenger side lower side)

My 2005 keeps setting off the check engine light and the vsa then the van will go into protection mode. what would cause the oil pressure to drop ounce the motor warms up.?
@juliescurlock4350 oil pressure can drop due to low oil level, weak oil pump, incorrect oil viscosity, excessive main bearing clearance, and failed oil pressure sensor.
So you're saying the 1hr job in doing the filter housing, should've have been a 9-hour maintenance prevention by doing the oil pump while I was in there?
