Nice comparison Matt. While I don't use them often and they do get moisture in them I don't mind my XTM 41" light bar. It is a double row but throws a decent light. I have a 6" XTM bar on the bullbar as well for that closer in light when off road. What I would love to see is a video about the Legalities of them. I have recently had people blowing up at me telling my that the one on my roof is illegal although from everything I can find it is not. It does not shine on the bonnet or bull bar but obviously bounces off my antennas, it is powered only with the High Beam and can be switched off to just allow the High beans without the Light bar. Anyway a video on Legal Modifications without the need for Engineering would be a great one to see. I do know each state is different though.

From what I can find from a quick search it’s not illegal to roof mount.

    Another great vid Matt.
I’m glad you shed some light on the subject. They are an awesome reliable light source that is built for tough conditions. Will they curve the bar so that you get more peripheral light.
Keep up the great work Matt 👏👏👏

Nice info Matt, well done. I would have like to seen an aerial shot on all modes, say going from standard, hi-beam, then the different light bars just to give a better comparison.. Can't even really imagine seeing that much light at 900m with just a lightbar... thats bloody awesome..

1 Lux is what we get from a candle. It is enough light to read a newspaper.
Nice comparison, Matt. Simple, easy to understand, well made. I have a different brand with a different design but with the same result, 1 Lux at 1000 meters.

As much as I like AU manufacturers, this time I went with an unknown brand, Sufemotec. As the weird name suggests it’s an unknown Chinese brand who is confident enough to share videos of its performance.
      I bought 6 of their pencil’s beams and 4 of their wide’s.
I have 4 pencils + 2 wides on the roof and 2+2 one the bumper.
For less than US$40 a pair I got 10 extras giving me 1 Lux at 1000 meters.
For the money spent I cannot imagine any other giving me a similar buck for the money spent.

It Would be Interesting to see a Comparison Between a LightBar and Driving Lights (is there Any Different in having All the LEDs in a Cluster Compared to a Strip?)
An Obvious Advantage of a LightBar is AirFlow into the Radiator.

I find the higher kelvin tends to provide that 1 lux at a greater distance and makes lights more marketable on paper to those who really haven’t experienced a good quality set of 4000K lights. I was hoping for a single row nitro max last year but I wanted it in 4000K, hey at least the concept with the wide reflectors carried through.
I’ve just put on a 120w raptor bar in 4000K with spread lens and an older stock 255w Nitro maxx double row bar. No it doesn’t reach as far down the road and a set of 5700K Nitro maxx 180w spotties but it doesn’t need to. Can clearly see amazing detail in a more natural contrast and barely any Tyndall effect from the signs.
An amazing amount of light without being too bright.

My beef with LED light bars is the scatter that will blind anyone in front and render the light useless in weather.

    • @MadMatt4WD
      @MadMatt4WD  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

That happens with cheaper light sources. These work very well generally. Of course fog is a problem unless you run a yellow light. These in the 4500 is better in fog but still often an issue.

Lumens are okay as a measure of how much light a light produces but, if it isn't in the direction you need, then it is useless. LUX is a measure of how much light is hitting a surface and 1 lux is enough to read text on paper at a specified distance. For example, if a light states 1 lux at 800 meters, then you should be able to read text on paper by that light at that distance, in ideal circumstances. Candela is a better indication because it shows how much light a light produces in a particular direction.
    This explains it better. th-cam.com/video/I91kYRI3Tp0/w-d-xo.html
