      So, get the pro?
      Roger that.

    • @jonmobrien
      @jonmobrien ปีที่แล้ว +105

      Not exactly.
You missed how he said it's only a little bit more for half the storage, didn't compare price of 256GB Pro.
He also said neither storage is big enough for video editing and need external storage anyway. So then compare the price of the 64GB Air since that will work the same as the 256GB model with external storage!!
Also it's not "better" this and "faster" that. He said the Pro is "slightly better" this and "a little faster" that.
So here the Pro is A$1400 vs Air A$1000. That's 40% dearer for everything being a smidge smoother.
Yeah if you're doing daily graphical rendering or video encoding or artistic drawings for business pay checks on a tablet and not on an iMac or Windows, get an M2 Pro or Tab S9 Ultra.
For the 99% masses without 1 Million You Tube Subscribers, save $400 on an Air.

Got myself recently a M1 Pro for €630, refurbished, perfect condition. Used to 120hz with my iPhone, and when you downgrade on refresh rate even on a tablet it is really noticeable. M1 is powerful enough and the hover function… not worth the extra money.

@@thenightowls2804iPads are good value for the "simple" customer who don't have too many demands and put a lot of focus on ease of use and cosmetics.. otherwise they are really bad price/performance ratio. I had many apple products in the past, since Steve Jobbs have left this world, Apple products are no longer the most superior in the smartphone/tablet markets.
I do agree that many Android powered devices are not better as well.. only the higher end.
for a pro user, normally it is advised to buy a tablet which is not entirely "locked" into a specific eco-system (hence Apple..) but which have powerful hardware that is able to run any mobile OS and not being locked to something very specific. then you can decide if you want to run Android, Windows or Linux (most likely Intel based and few other chips), there you will pay the price of a high-end iPad but will get the hardware x3 more powerful and higher end than what the iPad gives.

I found the air 5 256gb for the price of the 128gb few month ago in purple. And this is enough for my usage. I take notes on the ipad with the pencil on notability during my various personnal trainings. And I wished I had something like this during my studies to have everything stored in the same place rather than thousands sheets of paper, notebooks or other things.

Thank you! Great comparison, and very thorough. I currently have the iPad Air 4, it's been great. Before I purchased it, I did compare the Air to the Pro, and I thought the Pro was overkill for me. I might upgrade in the next year or 2 and I will look at the Pro again.
I previously owned an iPad Mini, I miss the portability and smaller size of the mini sometimes, but having a larger screen is a better option for my older eyes.
Side note: I had been considering going back to Android in 2023 and getting a Pixel phone and tablet, but after seeing a few friends experiencing so many problems with Pixel phones, I am staying with iPhone. I might as well have a better iPad to go with it. And by process of elimination, I won't ever consider owning another Scamsuck phone or tablet again after dealing with Samsung's incompetent and worthless customer support. So it's IOS all the way now.

I'm going to upgrade to a current iPad, as my original 1st gen iPad Pro battery is finally failing; it's testament to it's longevity that it is still keeping up and still supports the current operating system, though I think it is the last OS supported. I'm having a hard time deciding if I need a Pro given how good the Air is; it's extraordinary the iPad Air has the same CPU my Mini does, and the Pro has an even more powerful CPU. I don't play games, nor edit videos currently, but do use graphics apps like Affinity Photo or Procreate, and AstroPad for working with Capture One on my Mac. I'm excited by the USB-C, which is fast enough for my needs.

5:20 the charging magnets on iPads and Pencils in 2024, do not sit the same difference apart than those on the old m2 pro. Also, the m4 iPad Pro doesn’t have mmWave, only 5g. I know so for USA because implementation for air industry was poorly compatible and definitely not compliant regarding air traffic control concerns. In Europe they did a better coordination, so I wonder if theirs will keep their mmWave?

I made the switch in Aug2023 from the Air gen 5 I bought early in 2022 to the Pro11 gen 4 for 4 reasons that Kyle goes over (1) primarily for getting Face ID, as always needing to reach over to unlock was cumbersome. (2) the 2 extra speakers, (3) the 500 to 600 nits, and (4) the 801.11ax wifi6 to 802.11ax wifi6E since my Eero supports the later. And it’s great that my Apple Magic Keyboard and Pencil 2 works on the Pro11 as well.

Hi there, I am considering purchasing the iPad Air or Pro, not sure. I am not a graphic designer, but a part-time student and I am learning Adobe Illustrator InDesign and Photoshop for small projects at work and I would like to keep working on that as a hobby as well. would the IPAD air be enough? The price difference is quite substantial. Thanks for any help.

Oct 2023....looks like the cost of the base iPad air 5 has dropped 100 bucks ($499 AMZ vs $599 on Apple). I am looking to replace my iPad Air 3rd gen. I will hold out hoping that there will be even more savings (somewhere) during Black Friday buying season next month.

No addition on top of the nano texture for the m4 pro iPads. It does an excellent reduction of glare reduction. At the Apple Store, that was easily seen when compared to other screens. do not put a paper-like on top of the built-in nano texture screen; will add more color dulling per other hands-on reports.
If you don’t want the terabyte storage, you cannot opt-in for nano texture. For any other configurations, get a matte screen protector. Personally, with my finger, I wasn’t able to feel the difference between the nano texture and glass on the other iPads. Perhaps I might sense it when using a pencil?

I thought the pro has center stage ? Where you stay centered . And while this review was great. I was looking at the specs. The pro seems to have a lot of things like wifi6 genuine 5g with mm wave , not just the 5g like the air . And for some reason it also said on the side by side the air didn’t have LiDAR does that mean it doesn’t have Face unlock ?
