He was in a bad mental state and the Negative Speed Force was trying to get inside his head. We even saw in 9×12 that he was willing to die again to do the right thing if it meant rejecting the Negative Speed Force before it got in his head again. So when Eddie was beating Barry, Eddie was snapped back to his senses by realizing he was becoming like the person he tried to be the hero against. This was, in my opinion, a sensical way for this story to end and makes sense as an ending given the show's themes. But in my opinion, it goes incredibly fast due to how the season hasn't used its time the best (a 4 episode interlude with barely any plot movement for example) and the limited time it had in general. That's just my opinion though and I respect yours
Barry and Eddie more or less did the same as in the Smallville-finale. While defeating the threat of the series finale … they established each other as competitors to one another. But … Barry and Eddie just don‘t have the same weight as Clark and Lex …
Yea smallvilles finale was a bit rushed in that Darkseid was easily defeated. But it had a different feel. Finally getting to see clark become superman

Seeing Barry bleed was insane I have never seen him bleed until this episode and the way the blood painted the walls reminded me of Daredevil beating up Kingpin

Honestly you could say that about this entire scene. I do like it, because both actor do a good job with what they were given. But there was so much more that needed to be said. In general the entire arc tired to make Eddie seem like a madman. But like.. he has every right to be mad. Having future Iris say she never really loved him as if the "Screw the future line" didn't exist was borderline blasphemy. That was literally the perfect time to have Iris admit that they could've been if it weren't for yk Eddie dying. But no Westallen are soulmates who were always meant to be. This arc if it had better writers really could have been a "The one who got away" story (Think 500 days of summer), but with a superhero spin.
Side note i just realized the voice in Eddie's head wasn't the negative Speed Force entirely but an extension of Eobard Thawne that was destroyed in season 8 like a lingering conciousness and with Eddie having destroyed the crystal which likely housed said lingering conciousness, it makes Eddie the official avatar of the negative speed force which is likely gonna be represented by Red and blue lightning
Eddie gave Barry a hell of a beating out of rage hate and jealous a beating that zoom and thawe had given him on time but he managed to fight through it

Woof what a rough episode. Really should have cut the pointless Red Death crap to give this some extra time to build up and breathe. In one episode all of Flash's previous speedsters he beat come back and are swiftly beaten again. In hardly any time at all as well. Imagine how much better this could have been with the previous speedsters given some time. We could have seen Savitar realize Nora is his daughter and him coming to grips with what that means. Nope not aloud. And with one little speech it is enough to bring Eddie back after he was perfectly ok with wiping out how many people? What a waste.
After episode 10 I thought the ending of season 9 would be some of the most peak fiction of all time. At this point I can only be mad at myself for expecting better :/

I feel if they split this finale up into multiple parts, they could have much easier explained how each villain was defeated. Trying to squeeze it near the end of an episode just made it so they had to rush everything.

Overall, I’m a bit disappointed in this finale, but it was still really enjoyable!! To me, everything made sense, I mean Celcile beating Godspeed was a bit questionable, but anyways, I wanted more of the speedsters, I’ll say that. I do like though how they wrapped everything up quite nicely, and the surprise return of Catlin was great!!! Overall, this finale to me was a great finale!!!

Everyone is so happy that Eddie’s humanity was saved. I’m sick and tired of these season finale fights ending in everything other than fights. Last season, he meditated and won & now this? God dammit, FIGHT!
Here's a finale The show ends after Ollie came back. Ollie: "Remember when I told you that lighting chose you?" Barry: yes Ollie: it is time, Barry Barry: time for what? Ollie: For you to be chosen once again *Cobalt brings back only the RF. But later on RF betrays cobalt. And makes a final effort to absorb the negative SF. The only way Barry can stop him is to do the same with his speedforce. Of course. Dying in the process. Then Barry gets what ollie meant. And in his final moments. He finally beats Thawne and the negative SF vanishes with him. Instead of dying. Barry merges with the speedforce. With a final effort and the Spectre's help. He goes back to 2014. The night the particle accelerator explodes. The rest we know. The Flash comes full circle Caitlin does come back The rest of the Team are nowhere to be seen coz lets face it, nobody cares
The only thing great about this fight is that we finally see Barry and his suit take some physical damage after seasons of staying in pristine condition despite all the crazy speedster fights going on
I just hate how ever since S7 their powers seemed to become electricity instead of speed. Most of them are pulling a Darth Sidious. Even Eobard, dude went from a vibrating and threatening fist to a Dollar Store Palpatine
To me, it’s just so funny to see how much blood came out of that punch, despite the numerous super speed punches over the series. It’s like the writers thought “hey, it’s the finale might as well go ‘all out’ and show some blood”.

The ending to me reminds me of those movies that just end i think they should have had Cisco in it even if it was a phone call along with Wally and finally gave him a suit upgrade heck i know this probably couldn't happen scheduling wise but they could have also brought back every star from all the arrowverse shows seeing as this was the end of the arrowverse but I know that probably wasn't just a scheduling issue but they probably couldn't afford to do that as well just fan wishing everyone
Eddie was very literally the best character in the entire series, think about it, Barry when faced with similar consequences turned into Savitaar but Eddie literally shoots himself first to end Thawn knowing that was his future and still embraced it to save everyone and then comes back sees the future he lost and gives it up again.
You've got to be kidding me. I was shaking my head for the rest of the episode after this scene. I am so sad because Barry got beat up and then talks Eddie out of it. Like what the heck!!! What a let down!!! At least have one last battle instead of acting like talking things out can fix everything!!! I am so mad!

Their fight reminded me of Captain America the winter soldier. Steve doesn’t fight Bucky, and gets beat up, Barry doesn’t fight Eddie and gets beat up. They both take the time to bring their friends back into the light, even if they die. I just liked how they both don’t fight their friends, and still save them to make the right choice.
So why does this feel like a Captain America vs Winter Soldier? Like Bucky remembers everything whilst he beats up Steve when he doesn't want to fight back. Both lines are nearly identical when they announce they're not going to fight anymore.
Green goblin was right: in spite of everything you done for them eventually they will hate you . Winter solider and Eddie will kill captain America and the flash over and over again until mcu and arrowverse is ended .
Let's be honest, the show went shit after Hartley Sawyer was fired. His controversial tweets from 2014 (I think) and whether or not he truly changed aside, his character brought a life and light to the show that pushed the show to new heights. Ralph basically stole the show.
I love the flash and obviously it has had its ups and downs but I still can’t get over the finale. I enjoyed it as an episode sure, but we should have gotten Cisco back, Flash should have taken down all of his villains on his own finally proving himself to be the fastest man alive and that no other speedster compares to him anymore, Nora in no way should have been able to take down Savitar, also we need to remember it’s still Barry in that suit, I know he’s supposedly beyond redemption but would he really try to kill his own daughter? In the season 3 finale Savitar was destroying Barry, Jay, and Wally, but here he lasts 5 seconds against Nora, same goes for Zoom and Godspeed, it’s like the writers forget that it took each an entire season to bring down, if someone was going to solo them it should have been Barry, finally I love that Eddie came back but he should have been introduced at the beginning of the season, the Flash should have ended with a final confrontation with Eobard Thawne, imagine how great it would be if we saw a final race, where not only Barry completely outmatches Eobard and shows him he can’t even keep up with him anymore, takes his speed away for good, shows him he moved on from the pain he caused him and throws him to the speed force prison powerless for good measure.
If the writers makes the villains better, then it will be a great comeback for the flash franchise, rather than making them dumb and weak compare to other seasons
How did they someone make the “I’m not going to fight you” trope boring?! If you’ve seen Captain America Winter Soldier you know how heart wrenching and well done that can be, but they missed the mark here

How did Barry steal his life? 1)Eddie sacrificed himself to stop Thawne. 2)Eddie and Iris's relationship was doomed once Iris figured out that Barry is the Flash. 3)Barry and Iris didnt get together till well after Eddie's death. 4)why would Eddie and Iris's imaginary daughter look like Nora.
4) The daughter would not look like Nora, yes. It was the Negative Speed Force that made this so that Eddie would be touched when he saw Nora for the first time, messing with his feelings, which probably made he think that Barry even took her.
Almost 8 Years waiting to see the last episode, where Thawne and Barry have their final fight and complete the circle. And yeah, we got that, but I wanted to see the series finale built around that moment. Instead of that they wasted most of the best villians with a 3 episode arc and a convinient resolution. 😢

I feel if they split this finale up into multiple parts, they could have much easier explained how each villain was defeated. Trying to squeeze it near the end of an episode just made it so they had to rush everything.

I feel like it was mainly the CW's management of things NGL.
Overall, I’m a bit disappointed in this finale, but it was still really enjoyable!! To me, everything made sense, I mean Celcile beating Godspeed was a bit questionable, but anyways, I wanted more of the speedsters, I’ll say that. I do like though how they wrapped everything up quite nicely, and the surprise return of Catlin was great!!! Overall, this finale to me was a great finale!!!
It had great, good, mid, and complete hot ass garbage moments all in the same episode. So most of Eric Wallace's episodes.

it was a horrible ending. cecile defeating multiple godspeeds too at super speed, zooms cringy line and getting defeated so easily,savitar being stabbed thru ARMOR…😐they ruined all the villans reputations. So underwhelming. I hate the show writers. cecile being able to fly out of nowhere too and the LIGHTSABER fights???? come on bro. i stg the fans could write a better show than this.

This makes me so sad, I love this show to death, gave me something to look forward to every year even when I had nothing, I started watching this show in 2014, I was 9 then, I’m turning 18 next month, thats almost half my life, Grant is such a goat for bringing Barry to life in such a beautiful way 😭

*Cobalt brings back only the RF. But later on RF betrays cobalt. And makes a final effort to absorb the negative SF. The only way Barry can stop him is to do the same with his speedforce. Of course. Dying in the process. Then Barry gets what ollie meant. And in his final moments. He finally beats Thawne and the negative SF vanishes with him. Instead of dying. Barry merges with the speedforce.
With a final effort and the Spectre's help. He goes back to 2014. The night the particle accelerator explodes. The rest we know.

The only thing great about this fight is that we finally see Barry and his suit take some physical damage after seasons of staying in pristine condition despite all the crazy speedster fights going on

To me, it’s just so funny to see how much blood came out of that punch, despite the numerous super speed punches over the series. It’s like the writers thought “hey, it’s the finale might as well go ‘all out’ and show some blood”.
It is CW, they are boring af with this shit. Only The 100 was able to cross this boundary.
And Eddie comes through to save the day again, I’m vindicated again 😎

The ending to me reminds me of those movies that just end i think they should have had Cisco in it even if it was a phone call along with Wally and finally gave him a suit upgrade heck i know this probably couldn't happen scheduling wise but they could have also brought back every star from all the arrowverse shows seeing as this was the end of the arrowverse but I know that probably wasn't just a scheduling issue but they probably couldn't afford to do that as well just fan wishing everyone
Eddie was very literally the best character in the entire series, think about it, Barry when faced with similar consequences turned into Savitaar but Eddie literally shoots himself first to end Thawn knowing that was his future and still embraced it to save everyone and then comes back sees the future he lost and gives it up again.

Eddie deserves much better is n understatement he really does after everything he sacrificed being the hero in first instance & now here had all power to take out Barry & do what he wanted & still choose her humanity side , even when he said just because I’m doing this doesn’t mean we will always see eye to eye we are still on opposite sides , he’s the character with humanity having him control the negative speed force of all things left it interesting but yeah my dude deserved better , Rick Cosnett (Eddie) & Grant Gustin(Barry) phenomenal job in this scene

Their fight reminded me of Captain America the winter soldier. Steve doesn’t fight Bucky, and gets beat up, Barry doesn’t fight Eddie and gets beat up. They both take the time to bring their friends back into the light, even if they die. I just liked how they both don’t fight their friends, and still save them to make the right choice.
I love both Flash and Winter Soldier don’t get me wrong, but Winter Solider did this way better

Flash, just so you know, not fighting doesn’t mean getting your ass whipped you can dodge.
I love the flash and obviously it has had its ups and downs but I still can’t get over the finale. I enjoyed it as an episode sure, but we should have gotten Cisco back, Flash should have taken down all of his villains on his own finally proving himself to be the fastest man alive and that no other speedster compares to him anymore, Nora in no way should have been able to take down Savitar, also we need to remember it’s still Barry in that suit, I know he’s supposedly beyond redemption but would he really try to kill his own daughter? In the season 3 finale Savitar was destroying Barry, Jay, and Wally, but here he lasts 5 seconds against Nora, same goes for Zoom and Godspeed, it’s like the writers forget that it took each an entire season to bring down, if someone was going to solo them it should have been Barry, finally I love that Eddie came back but he should have been introduced at the beginning of the season, the Flash should have ended with a final confrontation with Eobard Thawne, imagine how great it would be if we saw a final race, where not only Barry completely outmatches Eobard and shows him he can’t even keep up with him anymore, takes his speed away for good, shows him he moved on from the pain he caused him and throws him to the speed force prison powerless for good measure.

I would say that another person getting talked out of villainy by the flash is disappointing but this makes sense given the history between the two
yeah it makes much more sense to do this with Eddie then literally any of the other villains they've talked down who they had no connection with.
It almost resemblance of comic where flash choose to reset reverse flash to had normal and nice future
If the writers makes the villains better, then it will be a great comeback for the flash franchise, rather than making them dumb and weak compare to other seasons

okay this is sad, how is this show called the flash and the flash doesn’t defeat the main villains in the final episode, the reason we love season 1 and 2 so much is because it’s barry saving the day at the end, either from a speedster or from a disaster, but ever since barry defeated savitar and iris killed him, then the show been downgrading cuz it’s his friends stealing and finishing the show🤦🏻♂️ how is the main character acting like a side character for most of the season like making no sense fr🤦🏻♂️

3)Barry and Iris didnt get together till well after Eddie's death.
4)why would Eddie and Iris's imaginary daughter look like Nora.
It was the negative speed force and cobalt crystal. They messed up his mind.
4) The daughter would not look like Nora, yes. It was the Negative Speed Force that made this so that Eddie would be touched when he saw Nora for the first time, messing with his feelings, which probably made he think that Barry even took her.
Almost 8 Years waiting to see the last episode, where Thawne and Barry have their final fight and complete the circle.
And yeah, we got that, but I wanted to see the series finale built around that moment. Instead of that they wasted most of the best villians with a 3 episode arc and a convinient resolution. 😢
