this is the epitome of someone perfecting their craft by consistently challenging themselves. Truly. There is not another human being on this planet who is making this diverse areay of different types of lures that are this highly functional. He pulls off every lure he tries.
I think it would be awesome to see you make a koi fish lure! There are so many different varieties with really cool color patterns and I think you would do an amazing paint job on something like a kin gin rin koi with the translucent scales.
I gotta admit, when I stumbled across this channel a while ago, I thought it was just another guy doing what he loved to do...I didn't know I stumbled across a master of his work. The stuff that this fine gentleman does is immaculate. Even from the beginning his stuff was good. Would love to see him carve something huge, like if he carved a bigger species, like a "near to scale " shark head or something.
I love it when I'm making a lure and a Marling Baits video pops up. It makes me wanna take chances, try new things and do the craziest paint job possible. Thanks for the inspiration Nate!!! ✌🏾
I've always widdled walking sticks with random pocket knives but i gotta be honest your artistic ability has made me go out and buy a set of flexcuts and some basswood blanks. You've inspired me. OH ALSO! Thank you for the super glue and baking soda I cannot tell you how many repairs ive done with that since you taught me!!
An untried suggestion for your brush problem; maybe a little super glue where the bristles go into the metal would keep them from falling out. Also, I've found gluing two pieces of sand paper back to back make a great tool for sanding carved gills. It makes it stiff enough to get right up next to the next gill without having to force it to keep it's shape, the corners are great for sanding those tight spots, and when the edges wear down it can be trimmed for a clean edge.
You have inspired me to start carving... I thought I'd started easy by making a spoon.... not easy. You make carving look effortless, but I love watching a craftsman work. Love your gear. Keep up the inspiration you're doing excellently.
You are certainly blessed. An amazing talent, a beautiful wife, a handsome son and a loyal dog. Man, you have a blessed life. ps. always love seeing Chip (I think you should plant strawberries for Chip this summer, you know he loves them).
I know you have convinced yourself we don't want aaaaallll the little details... But you sir, are wrong. Even when you think you are rambling. Even when you think that you may speak too much. There is a damned good reason we stay subscribed. As always, your work is exemplary. Truly I must say you are being freer, with the whimsy and general feeling of where you're putting colors. Especially how you layer them! (Thank you btw) Every bait, every project, EVERY TIME... AS ALWAYS... LOOKS FANFUGGINTASTIC. Don't overthink. Just do your thing man. Teach us and quit holding back! We want the little details, and to hear you talk about why they are there! We have been with you this long and we will be here til ye can't move your knife.
Your creations are always great. I'm not a bait maker but I fish a ton and recently got into freshwater fishing. Just a bit of topic, the way you straighten coiled wire came in handy for me when my daughter asked me to make a big whisk for the school play that she's in charge of.
As usual: amazing work! I was just thinking: it looks like the clearcoat in the plastic dish is building up nicely. I guess it could make a (way too heavy?) bait blank in a while?
And if he carved through it then all the sparkly layers would be visible! I hope he sees your comment. Why im commenting in hopes it brings more attention as very good idea
I’m very impressed at all the baits you keep coming up with, I’m glad you are able to share these videos with us. Definitely inspires me to try my other fishing related diys here at home, so thank you! I once made a Barbie head lure, but that was pretty simple. Ended up catching my biggest Largemouth ever with it(7lbs). I’d love to see you try weird baits haha, Barbie heads, action figures, boat, human buzz baits or something crazy haha!
Still waiting for a cuttlefish the body wood or resin with plastic worm like tentacles on the head. And allow it to swim backwards as a cuttlefish does. Because of the body shape it would be a diving bait. Using a stop and go method of retrieve to mimic the movement of a cuttlefish during the stop the tentacles would hang down the flow out when it moves backwards. If you make the tentacles out of would they would have hinge to hang down in the stop. Then flow up during the tentacles dutrong the retrieve so it would just a little heavier than neutral bouncey so the would fall down in the stop. Enjoy watching you make the lures with so much authenticity and attention to detail. You truly have a talent and skill.
Hello, I just wanted to give you a suggestion about the brushes you use for the clear coat - if you put some super glue on the bristles where they come out of the handle it might keep them from falling out. By the way you are a great artist.
Aquarium fish would make for great paint schemes. This looks like a freshwater Angelfish. Also Discus could be awesome. Blue Ram. Even a big Cardinal Tetra could be cool.
You are quite an artist, as in the sense of the midleage, not just at carving in witch you are a master, but on airjet painting, were you are the master of the masters,. When I got the notify of this video, I wasnt engaged by the shappe of the lure, but when I sow the performance of your making, it, made me be steady at seeing the video. Who care if that lure work or not, was this a lure or an art piece?
Just moved overseas and now my comments end up being late to the party. Yet another super cool lure, reminds me of some of your older stuff but heater of course. Weight transfer jointed corky please

Totally agree he is special
yes there is
Lol I’m yet to see one bait that swims 😂😂😂
the most surprising one that worked was the ball though
@@commonsense7754 of his?

I was thinking this same thing when the video started. Could make an entire line of them in different colors and shapes.
Great idea

A life size Goliath Tiger Fish.
Marling baits bait making music playlist is a must please give us this
You are the Bob Ross of lure making. I thought you had screwed it up an 2 minutes later it looks like gold.
I love the mix-up with some northern African sounding music during the build. Sets the atmosphere!
What is tremendous talent you have, say hi to chip for me.
Watching you work is one of the most de-stressing things I’ve ever done. You’re awesome!
I love it when I'm making a lure and a Marling Baits video pops up. It makes me wanna take chances, try new things and do the craziest paint job possible. Thanks for the inspiration Nate!!! ✌🏾
That out-take reel at the end always gets me. Perfect childish man humor every time. And another great looking bait as well.
So cool , your talent is so incredible 😊 love watching your video's 👍
I like to think that none of the footage is sped up, he’s just this skilled and excited to finish the lure.
Hands down my favorite channel on TH-cam 🙌 ✌️
The way he makes the hardware is so pleasant

Wow… unique shape, unique choice of carving music, entertaining as always! 👍… And an attempt was made for Fun Fatcs-appreciated! 😉

The music is great! Loved the video with the goofy clarinet and the music goes hard on this!
I've been watching you from the beginning. I like your videos the best when you start and finish ONE BAIT. like this video, great job.

You're videos are the best antistress ever!
You have inspired me to start carving... I thought I'd started easy by making a spoon.... not easy. You make carving look effortless, but I love watching a craftsman work. Love your gear. Keep up the inspiration you're doing excellently.

That was so enjoyable to watch. So out of the box and it was awesome. Been watching for years and still wait for every video.
Always look forward to another Marling bait. Cheers from another Iowa fisherman.
You are truly an artiste. Very impressive work.👍♥️

Love me some marling bait videos before sleep👌🏻
sabayyyyy=)
loving the gitarr music and of course the beautiful lure.
big thanks
Super clean design and paint. Another stellar Marlingbait
When you hit the fan all I could hear was good ole Bill Dance saying "DAG NABBIT" 😂
I have to classify your work as functional art.
You are truly an artist.
Once again ,, well done.
I find it very interesting to see the thought process play out in to a work of art. I mean that too. the lures are more than just a lure.
Yes yes. Nothing like new a marling bait
Awesome as always. Hope the family well and the weather warming up!
I wish I could do what I loved for a living. It's always enjoyable to watch your channel. As always, a truly beautiful lure.

Hey marling I love your videos and can you make a salmon with a skeleton head pls🙏
Don't you dare make it until Halloween

Yes, a gnarley spawned out salmon lure!!
Zombie salmon for Halloween would be interesting.
"Fun facts never started, so they're not over." So glad you have rules you follow. LOL
Glad to start seeing some funky aquarium fish lures
whoa the paint job on that shad was insane!!!
Master carver. That things amazing!
Cool. Thank you for building a fish from my area. Looks very cool.
Incredible work man, such amazing talent and experience as always
The second time i heard you listen to tool while carving. Superior music taste👌🏼
This is awesome, both my hobbies at once! Bass fishing and my huge reef tank all rolled into one
Your creations are always great. I'm not a bait maker but I fish a ton and recently got into freshwater fishing. Just a bit of topic, the way you straighten coiled wire came in handy for me when my daughter asked me to make a big whisk for the school play that she's in charge of.
just finished my first lure today, youve been a huge inspiration, thank you sir!
23.50 sweden, glad to see a new video :)
I like that bait it's awesome looking 😎😎😎
Love the realistic stuff.
The back round music is great
As usual: amazing work!

As a user of sanders to sharpen pencils in the shop, I agree with it being the standard for sharpening pencils.
What an awesome mooney! You know what else is awesome? A pink floppy human swim bait in 2023! Let's make it O-FISH-AL!
The best lure maker on TH-cam right here
Very nice. Probably a one of a kind
Nice Moroccan music there! And incredible lure as always
😀Thanks for the content, Nate. Always enjoyed
That thing swims surprisingly good for its weird shape!
Love your videos also from iowa and ameture baitmaker. I love the videos on your crankbaits your a legend
You should do a Bob Ross bait... Just some happy little scales, oh... and this fin needs a nice little friend.
Been watching for years, this is by far my favourite. Maybe it's the likeness to an Angelfish, maybe it's just dang neat!
I’m very impressed at all the baits you keep coming up with, I’m glad you are able to share these videos with us. Definitely inspires me to try my other fishing related diys here at home, so thank you!

Can't wait to see it in action this spring or summer🤔
Someone may have already suggested this but you should do an articulated Elvis bait made out of Topelo wood. In honor of the king!
some prehistoric fish builds would be nice :O
Pretty awesome lure 👏
Excellent as usual
I like the guitar music. Soothing. Haha
Pretty frickin sick bro🔥🔥. Wicked Pissah
Hey you got the same table saw I have. I love it

That looks amazing
That is one cool bait and I can't wait to see if it can catch some fish!
Very satisfying video 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
Awesome bait! Great work!
Very cool, I had one of those in an aquarium for a while. I always figured it would make good bait.
You should try making a top water bass boat lure.
Looks cool, It's definitely taking off on you. Good luck
In my experience, it takes about 24 hours for the vallejo primer to fully "cure," but it does leave a very smooth and uniform surface.
Hello, I just wanted to give you a suggestion about the brushes you use for the clear coat - if you put some super glue on the bristles where they come out of the handle it might keep them from falling out. By the way you are a great artist.
You need an oscillating drum sander. I got a cheap one from menards and it changed by life. Really nice tool to have in the shop. Great video!
You should look into freshwater rainbow fish! Very unique body shapes and probably hundreds of different patterns and colors to choose from!
Absolutely. Or a betta lure with soft plastic fins everywhere
Aquarium fish would make for great paint schemes. This looks like a freshwater Angelfish. Also Discus could be awesome. Blue Ram. Even a big Cardinal Tetra could be cool.
Been waiting since I saw it on Instagram!
