I did a jerkbait, drilled a 10mm hole in it, dropped in superglue to harden the wood, dropped a 7mm BB in, plugged the hole with a 10mm plug and superglue to harden it and stay in, super loud noices. But we wana see the master himself do it!!
You can get little glass and metal rattler inserts for softbaits. Dont know if a wooden bait would muffle them, but those bigger metal rattlers makes a ton of noise.
I appreciate the music put on top of the woodworking sounds. Reminds me of an old PBS channel I used to watch that was all woodworking. It comforted me in a weird nostalgic way.
Ya know what Man? I just clicked on your video and settled into my twenty minutes of peace. Your show has become like a letter from home or a phone call from an old friend although I have never met you and most probably never will but you make me comfortable and relaxed. In today's world twenty minutes of chill is GOLDEN. Thanks for being you.
Nate you have the patience of a Saint and the attention to detail that is way above anything I am able to comprehend. Watching you make these baits is majestic and so soothing. I cant thank you enough for showing us this precious piece of art!
Thanks to you I've made with hand tools 4 baits for my fathers birthday (50th ones - 27.02). I spent this month by beginning from nothing, not even owning tools like chisel or sandpaper to simple luremaking setup. Had to handpaint it with brush, so I went for simple colours. My father was happy and moved, he loves fishing. Thank you for sharing your experiences and techniques, I will remember you and will tell abouit you to my children and grandchildren- the story how I did baits for my father.
As an avid fisherman, I’ve been subscribed since last year and your technical work has only just improved over that time. Beautiful wood work and Da Vinci paint work, stunning at all levels. Would you ever consider putting some of your work up for Sale/Auction, I’m 100% sure you would be flooded with requests. 👍🇨🇦 From Montreal Canada
I've been making lures since I was 14 years old. Started with a hand saw, carving knife, hand painted and used polyurethane to seal the wood. I'm 36 years old now and I still have a passion for making lures in the winter to fish with in spring, summer and fall. You have a wonderful channel, sir!
You knocked that one out of the park on the paint job. When u glued those eyes in I thought it was gonna flop off the table. One day I hope to make some big saltwater plugs inspired by your work
So you might not read this but i help out at a highschool theater and they wanted me to build wooden swords for them and i have no clue how to build swords but i remember how you make your baits and it helped me out a lot! So thankyou! Also your baking soda super glue i was like what if i took wood glue and saw dust to fix holes and it worked!
I've watched almost every episode, part of why I got back into fishing, and I have to say that that Crappie has to be the most incredible piece of art you've created!
I love the wood work you do! I have learned a lot from you. Thanks for posting. I can't wait to see you fish with all the baits you have made this winter.
The bait making is of course, brilliant. But you're on a roll with the music! The Icelandic Arpeggios over your stippling the spots and strips was perfect.
Definitely one of your more technically challenging baits that I remember you doing... from a painting perspective. The attention to detail was like watching Michelangelo painting the Sistine Chapel. :) In my opinion, worthy of hanging on the wall of fame. Can't wait to see you make more master pieces!
Beautiful bait. I can personally appreciate the time it takes to create such precise detail. A work of art completed! Great looking bait! I hope you do a follow up video of you attempting to catch something on this someday!!!
just so you know, that's not a fishing lure, THAT is a piece of art. Amazing
You should try making a wobbler with a rattle inside! (kind of wanna know how you would do it, I tried a couple of times and finished it only oce)
That would be cool
I did a jerkbait, drilled a 10mm hole in it, dropped in superglue to harden the wood, dropped a 7mm BB in, plugged the hole with a 10mm plug and superglue to harden it and stay in, super loud noices. But we wana see the master himself do it!!
That does sound like a good solution but yeah, we want him to do it! Huge pyke by the way, very nice pic!
You can get little glass and metal rattler inserts for softbaits. Dont know if a wooden bait would muffle them, but those bigger metal rattlers makes a ton of noise.
That's definitely not a crappy crappie - it's an amazing crappie. Nice job. Someone else suggested a rattle inside a lure - I second that!
Marking Baits on Sunday mornings is my kind of spiritual healing
You know marling baits is legit when he has bob Ross moments of "we don't make mistakes. We just have happy accidents"
Yes morning coffee and marling baits every Sunday
I appreciate the music put on top of the woodworking sounds. Reminds me of an old PBS channel I used to watch that was all woodworking. It comforted me in a weird nostalgic way.
You have honed your talent for lure making, video making, being funny, and just being such a rad dude.

Yes, all glide baits all the time. Your glides are always sweet. Keep up the good work.

That’s my favorite bait you’ve made so far. I could tell you were pretty proud of it too. Awesome paint job.
Outstanding job. She turned out to be a stunner of a crappie.
I think this may be the best looking bait you’ve made. I paused the video to admire the patterns you hand painted. Very nice
It looks like a long forgotten language? Watching you paint never gets tired! Very relaxing!

You just make what you want and I'll keep watching.
Some of your best work yet. The detail is astounding.
I was recommended this channel by TH-cam. They finally did something right.
"Every Sunday morning." I hope that is sustainable! Love seeing your notification pop up!!
You made some great lures this winter, I think you should make a video of you fishing with all of them in the spring.

Wow! What incredible artistry
I like the addition of the TV in your shop!
Literally THE Bob Ross of fishing lures!!!😲💯🔥🔥🔥
You knocked that one out of the park on the paint job. When u glued those eyes in I thought it was gonna flop off the table. One day I hope to make some big saltwater plugs inspired by your work
The “Baattt” at the end scared the heck out of me. Fun video, it came out great.
I can’t get over how realistic that thing is
I'd definitely buy one! That thing moves great. Bass would be TRIGGERED!!!
I have to say. Seeing that paint job is amazing . 2 years ago compared to now, you’ve gone 150%… GET IT!!
Excellent work! Your videos have inspired me not only to make baits but sculpt life size fish as well!
Cant wait to have baits available to purchase.
Been following you for years and can finally afford to treat myself 😂
You're the man.
So you might not read this but i help out at a highschool theater and they wanted me to build wooden swords for them and i have no clue how to build swords but i remember how you make your baits and it helped me out a lot! The Timelapse was so well done. It was fantastic to see. Great bait. I enjoy this style video.
I've watched almost every episode, part of why I got back into fishing, and I have to say that that Crappie has to be the most incredible piece of art you've created!
Official Bait for sure!
Love the coloration of that crappie, and the way it moves in the water has a realistic fleeing effect. Nate keep making these awesome looking lures.
My favorite bait you’ve made
My jaw dropped when the full spot pattern was revealed. Amazing, dude. Simply amazing.
Your videos make my Sunday. Keep em coming!
This lure is GORGEOUS!!!
It looks amazing on video. I can only imagine what it looks like in person. beautiful job. Thanks for sharing 👍
Really nice lure. Perfect painting
That lure looks good enough to filet and eat! Crappie are my favorite
that is just a thing of beauty
I love the wood work you do! I have learned a lot from you. Thanks for posting. I can't wait to see you fish with all the baits you have made this winter.
My favorite musky glider is a manta. You know I loved this vid!!!
I seen this on IG and thought you made a stencil for the crappie pattern. I'm impressed. This is more of what I expect from marlin baits. Well done
Beautiful paint on this lure. And was great to see a little riverside.
Awesome thumbnail! Kickin the handmade lure biz up to the next level!
I have yet to see you make a bait with any kind of knocker or rattles in em, I think that would be a cool challenge. Awesome bait as always man
Your videos have me itching for open water fishing season to start.
The bait making is of course, brilliant. But you're on a roll with the music! The Icelandic Arpeggios over your stippling the spots and strips was perfect.
Darn it ! Every time I think I have a favorite lure you made you go and make one even better NICE
You just outstound me every one of these videos, crazy good job man.
My favorite lure you’ve built! It’s awesome looking sir!
You are creating so many good pieces! i feel like the scale lines are getting better and better
A fresh Marling Baits video on a crisp, cool Sunday morning? I punch those numbers into my calculator, it makes a happy face.
That is stunning!!!
Very nice. Can't wait to see you fish it. Mostly because that means I'll be fishing too. Winter sucks.
I just bought my first airbrush because of you 😁 Keep up the good work and be free 😊
I could almost see myself being able to "build" the baits you make if i had the patience, but the intricate detail you put into them is amazing.
Bro!, your skills are excellent. Your presentation is spot on. Keep the videos coming sir.
Nice man! Another bait… for the fellas 🤙
That bait is gorgeous man. I'm continually impressed with your skill. Keep up the good work man!
And by the way you are the Bob Ross of bait making my friend
Love it!!
You should make a bullhead swim bait. You should also make some more ice fishing lures and go ice fishing
Definitely one of your more technically challenging baits that I remember you doing... from a painting perspective. The attention to detail was like watching Michelangelo painting the Sistine Chapel. :) In my opinion, worthy of hanging on the wall of fame. Can't wait to see you make more master pieces!
Awesome bait. Looking forward to the next one!
I love watching you bring these chunks of wood to life..damn...
Beautiful bait. I can personally appreciate the time it takes to create such precise detail. A work of art completed! Great looking bait! I hope you do a follow up video of you attempting to catch something on this someday!!!
Man it's awesome to wake up and see your videos
That’s a true masterpiece!! Don’t know if I’d eat it or hang it in the wall..just beautiful!
This was def one if my favorite builds :)
Oh my, Mr. Marling! What a big chisel you have.
This is probably my favorite so far since I subscribed.
Beautiful paint job!
That looks absolutely incredible!!!
Work of art, very cool! Thanks!
I really like that paint job
Love the lost dog street band in the background man, Bunch of great songs to make some great baits too 💪
The black details you brushed are brilliant, they could pass for written alphabet!!
Absolutely amazing piece! Always look forward to your uploads. 👏👏👏
What a beautiful bait! I'm sure it will catch fish when the weather warms.
Absolutely amazing
Awesome build, can’t wait to see you go fishing with that lure and the others you build.
The detail that you put into that really paid off. That’s a pretty bait. Would a single joint towards the tail have given it more of a S type glide??
