I watch more TH-cam than is healthy for a person, and you have consistently been my favorite channel. You are so goofy and genuine, and it feels like you take us along for the ride. Thank you for that. Also make a telescope eyed goldfish please. They are very pretty, and bass love goldfish, so I think you would knock it out of the park.
I agree!! Great Dude and enjoyable videos!! and I like your idea, I would love to see how he would mimic the action! careful I been addicted since 07, only two thing you can do in life, Consume and create, the more you consume the more you have to Create, ( not talking about just videos but everything in general) and Life gets better the more I go out meet people and share All the knowledge and information I've consumed from YT over the years. Idk Just me? gets to a point where everyday is pointless, Idk how much YT you watch but If you go deep, remember, everything boils down consuming and creating Sorry will delete this comment if you think it has no value here, I just know too much yt at one point was damaging My mental health ,so I only hope to help anyone who might relate, to my plight and how I'm getting out of it
I'm concerned on how you know bass love goldfish.. Goldfish are actually the WORST feeder fish, because they produce a toxic slime that over time can kill fish if they eat the goldfish.
@@EarthshakerOnamazu I’ve never tried it, but I know some people who fished the canals and ponds of Florida in the late 90’s early 2000’s and they swear that bass love them more than shiners. It’s illegal to use them now, but a lure would hopefully produce the same result.
As an Aussie, we have a prized species of "flathead" called a dusky flathead with is dark brown, sunset red to almost an olive green mixture. Mostly found around weedbeds feeding on open sand bars in shallower waters. Where as a sand flathead will bury itself in sand for the ambush. These are a salt water fish in no way similar to flathead catfish or whatever they are over there(:
“Watch out guys, the big hand is in the bucket again”. Too darn funny, I spit out my coffee on that one. Excellent lure, that one was definitely attracting the bass, had to have been the scales. Two more weeks to go and I’m back to casting after 20 years, can’t wait!!!
How would it be to do like a pan fish series of baits? Smaller versions of some you have done before with modifications that's you have learned over time. Love the videos, hello from Northern MN.
I can’t tell you how many times I watch each video. I’ve already watched this video 4 times and you just uploaded it. I still have a week before a new video OMG!!! Keep up the good work. I love it.
I know you’re a “master baiter” but as far as I’m concerned, you are an artist. I came bc I have family in waverly, IA but I stayed bc you’re an immaculate artist. You and @mymechanics are on a different level and the the same level for me as far as detail. No competition at all.
This was by far one of your most applicable fishing baits you have made. I'd love something similar to snook fish with. An interesting idea would be for you to make a few saltwater or larger lures. Then if you ever vacation near the saltwater with the larger game fish. You can bring the baits with you and have an easy video.
Dude... I live in Brazil and there's a friend of mine that lives far from me, but has the same phisionomy and sense of humor as yours... Impressive! Watching your video is like having an lure making experience with an old friend, quite a trip!
Hands down your best lure yet As far as matching realistic color and action and appropriate size. Obviously the fish liked it alot. Keep up the great work!
I really like this format for the videos. Been watching you a long time but sneaking in the home projects and "real life" stuff makes you even more relatable and breaks up the build perfectly. Keep doing great things!
Awesome video - that guy was slayin’ the fish! My son and I watch you each Sunday and now he’s started making his own baits. We’re big fans. Keep it up! And…. Nice driveway 👍
If you ever need inspiration for some crazy colored lures, the "Darter" fish has some variants including the "candy darter", which look like some kind of silly shaped freshwater clownfish. They're also a protected species and apparently bass are their major predators.
Scales were a masterpiece on that one. Holy crap. Coffee and Marling Sundays is good stuff. Thanks again. Do you do requests? Because I was just thinking maybe you could do a Beetlejuice sandworm.
I only have 1 question. After watching the build and effectiveness of this bait, as well as the detail you put into the paint scheme how did you manage to not put the MB logo in the concrete?
The wasp carnage scene at 11:21 made my day. Awesome jerkbait, Nate. I've been waiting a long time for you to make one with that style of lip. Never fails to impress.
With your wood working skill and attention to detail, I would love to see you do a boat building series. I know it’s not lure making, but it’s an entire new group of viewers and can inspire more to try it. I’m currently working on my first fiberglass over wood boat. Love the vids, best wishes.
The catches in this surely make up for all the times you have been skunked this year. Congrats. Oh, and that FROG was a sign of what you should make next.
I've been watching you for years and always thought you should make slim lure with a smaller lip that is less angled and you finally did it. That lip angle has a great tight wobble without too much roll. So glad it worked well.
This has been one of my favorite vids you have made, and your channel is by far one best all of TH-cam has to offer. Thanks for all you do, we'll keep subbing, liking and commenting!
It’s been a rough year on us here. Haven’t been able to get out on the water at all. These videos save my soul. Thank you for sharing. Keep it going!!!
I'm glad you happened to mention Maynard Reece. I'd not ever heard of him. Paused to check out some of his art and I can't wait to get some prints of his for my basement/ man cave.
Loved this video. The Fun Facts was very weird t times. Your videos are always entertaining. Good to see the driveway instead of the pond. It was nicely done. See you when you make the next bait. Thanks
Would be an awesome lure for our mangrove jacks here in Australia. Only thing that would help it is when you pause it the lure suspends and doesn't float. Scale detail is beautiful. Great work.
That bait looks insanely good!!! Almost like a Pointer from Lucky Craft meeting a BX minnow from Rapallo. Really nice job. It swims as good as I looks.
I don't even know you and I get so proud when you show glimpses of Finn and of your kid's so happy for you little brother I know I am a weird hillbilly lol I got 5 kid's what do you expect
I was laughing the whole narration of what a flathead was lol 😂 filter face got me. Then everything after that . Love the content and how every bait is just pure craftsmanship! Keep it up brotha
I enjoy when Chelsea does a cameo walk through. It makes it evident you aren't cranking out lures in a sterile factory. You are just the guy down the street inviting me into your garage where you make marvelous creations day after day. Same concept with showing the projects you have going on around your home.
"Look under your pillow at night, there might be a Fat-head Minnow." Hilarious dialog ! I think that 1/2 of the reason I watch these videos is for the funny banter.
There's the winter bait action you were looking for. The profile, and colors are pretty appropriate for it too. Get it to suspend as you pointed out, or a slow rise. Would be a good trout lure given different sizes, and color schemes. I had a mysterious feeling that this bait would shake things up after the carving and sanding. 4.7 stars
"Maynard did a good job on this picture". His job is like what you do. Its not about making a picture of just like one fish but making it look like a typical fish. Pull anyone fish out of your bait bucket and it looks like Maynard's painting. Making a bait is next level; designing, carving and painting a block of wood to look and act like breakfast.
Marlin's words that need to be heard on a vid, "Oohne day!", "bicarb bakingsoda", "l did not fart was the chair", "starting with white", "not what. I am going for "😁😍
Love the realistic and clean paint scheme And I think it's funny that you seem to really get into certain things like how you did one weight transfer bait, weren't happy with it and continued playing around with the concept for the next few videos. It's a pattern I've noticed lmao
I lost it at 6:58 😂😂 'it's not just the frogs, their turning the fat head minnows g..' as, the male fat head minnow... Classic Marlin transition!
Also 4:43, “fathead minnows are c… I think what the whole nest thing…”
Bro this killlllled me I heard the lead up and I was like no. He's not gonna do it.. and then he did indeed. Do it. Lol
I watch more TH-cam than is healthy for a person, and you have consistently been my favorite channel. You are so goofy and genuine, and it feels like you take us along for the ride. Thank you for that.

6 hours a day easily for past 4 years and this isn't my usual genre of channel but consistently watch each video within 12 hours of upload
Honestly, even though it isn't a crazy elaborate build, it's probably one of my favorite ones
These are my exact thoughts. Theres something so good about this one.
I assume you’re talking about when God made me? 😂
Not related but I’d say they’re pretty similar in looks and behavior
The shad lure he did would be great for flathead
In some parts Butterlip are also referred to as Dusky. Beautiful grey/purple fish.
Man a flathead lure would be so cool though. Bluespot especially.
I mean we have flathead catfish
“Watch out guys, the big hand is in the bucket again”. Too darn funny, I spit out my coffee on that one. Excellent lure, that one was definitely attracting the bass, had to have been the scales. Two more weeks to go and I’m back to casting after 20 years, can’t wait!!!

Probably my favorite build. Between the amazing scales, weight transfer and versatility of the bait itself. Amazing job on the action as well.
I know you’re a “master baiter” but as far as I’m concerned, you are an artist. I came bc I have family in waverly, IA but I stayed bc you’re an immaculate artist. You and @mymechanics are on a different level and the the same level for me as far as detail. No competition at all.
This is such an awesome channel.... Not only does he build outstanding baits but he's funny as hell.
I agree I watched an early video where he just overlayed music and it wasn't the same ....
Man your attention to detail on the builds and paint jobs is amazing, props from the Philippines
That bait is an absolute work of art I can’t believe you actually threw it 🤣 and it works great too I’d buy one
“It’s not just the frogs, their turning the fathead minnows gay.” Greatest Marling quote of all time.
This was by far one of your most applicable fishing baits you have made. I'd love something similar to snook fish with. An interesting idea would be for you to make a few saltwater or larger lures. Then if you ever vacation near the saltwater with the larger game fish. You can bring the baits with you and have an easy video.
I'm sure he has many ocean front subs that would love to host him.
Finely something on TH-cam worth watching 👀 . Thanks for taking us along.
That lure looks awesome and it has more of a pulse action then a body roll action. You are a incredibly talented bait maker.
Dude... I live in Brazil and there's a friend of mine that lives far from me, but has the same phisionomy and sense of humor as yours... Impressive!
Watching your video is like having an lure making experience with an old friend, quite a trip!
That is hyper realistic great job making the scales pop
Hands down your best lure yet As far as matching realistic color and action and appropriate size. Obviously the fish liked it alot. Keep up the great work!
I love this type of video where you read the facts while you make the lure it is very funny
This is in the running for my favorite bait on the channel. The action is so good and that paint job is outstanding!
You aren’t kidding!! What a match to the reference!!! Great work👍
Pure serotonin when Marling Baits posts!!
If you ever need inspiration for some crazy colored lures, the "Darter" fish has some variants including the "candy darter", which look like some kind of silly shaped freshwater clownfish. They're also a protected species and apparently bass are their major predators.
Damn just looked them up. You ain't lying. Those are badass looking.
Scales were a masterpiece on that one. Holy crap. Coffee and Marling Sundays is good stuff. Thanks again. Do you do requests? Because I was just thinking maybe you could do a Beetlejuice sandworm.
Favorite youtuber your the best on the buisness marlin patten a lure so we can buy it at wall mart
By far, one of your more successful days on the water! Very nice!
10:04 Hands of a surgeon. Just kiddin' brother. Beautiful paint work as usual.
I know it's a masterpiece when i see the thumbnail.. amazing!!
As a concrete finisher slingshot shooter and a mature wood carver I have found the perfect TH-cam channel
The glitter/clear coat between paint layers is a great touch!
Good morning, Nate! Hope you're having a wonderful holiday weekend!
Chip 🍻... Nice to see your improving the homestead for the family 💪
Wow! what a bait. You really nailed it on this build. Masterfully done Marling!
Yo man is this legit?
@@stevethescrounger6683 no it is not, do not fall for it
Long time ago I said id love to see you do testing with moving weights, so its really cool to see you do this stuff
“It’s not just the frogs. They’re turning the fathead minnows ga-“ great cut and even better reference
I would LOVE to see you making it like your version of that piece of art
By the way your problem solving on projects is inspiring
Thank you 🙏
With your wood working skill and attention to detail, I would love to see you do a boat building series. I know it’s not lure making, but it’s an entire new group of viewers and can inspire more to try it. I’m currently working on my first fiberglass over wood boat. Love the vids, best wishes.
This is the only TH-cam channel I’ve watched that consistently has great content, Great Job👍🏼
Amazing job as always! Love the lure.... Keeps them coming! 😘
The action of this bait is phenomenal!
Please do more iterations of this bait.
This is in my opinion one on the most functional baits i have seen you make.

Might be one of my all time favourite colour choices.
I'm always on the edge of my seat during the backyard nature shots. I have this completely unfounded fear of being surprised by a slingshot shot.
Rhymes with chucks 😂😂😂 love your commentary and your work!
Killed the paint job!!! AMAZING
That’s one dusky looking minnow my friend. Love the lip and the internal rattle.
Loved this video. The Fun Facts was very weird t times. Your videos are always entertaining. Good to see the driveway instead of the pond. It was nicely done. See you when you make the next bait. Thanks
That’s an awesome bait and love the 3D scale effect you achieved!
7:55 did you fill up that hole with superglue and baking soda ?
I could watch you carve baits for DAYS
That wounded minnow action is tremendous. Breakdancing bass just rolls off the tongue.
Stunning top water Lure, you nailed it !
What a beautiful bait! And I was so worried that you would get it snagged. 😄
Have a great 4th of July!
For a minute, I thought I was listening to Tom Bodett... you probably get that a lot... 🤣
Thank you for sharing 🍺🎣
Would be an awesome lure for our mangrove jacks here in Australia.
Only thing that would help it is when you pause it the lure suspends and doesn't float. Scale detail is beautiful. Great work.
Enjoyed the paint bottle humor😄A Topeka shiner would be a kool addition to your collection
This was a good one. Those fun facts… my goodness.
Agree, one of the better ones. Fantastic paint job!!
Thanks for the fantastic dusky video. I need more dusk in my tackle box!
20:14 should've been the Thumbnail
Great LURE Though
God Bless You man
That bait looks insanely good!!! Almost like a Pointer from Lucky Craft meeting a BX minnow from Rapallo. Really nice job. It swims as good as I looks.

My Sunday highlight!
Hands down the best fun facts that has ever been on this channel
It is always a great day when Marling uploads! Hope everyone has a good day :)
Such an awesome looking bait Nate and it was made official by more than one species of fish.
Looks a lot too good ,always like watching your videos ! Continue making great videos it is great ! Superb lure !!
Not gonna lie, I was tuning in and out during fun facts, so that “it’s not just the frogs” bit really got me.
I was laughing the whole narration of what a flathead was lol 😂 filter face got me. Then everything after that . Love the content and how every bait is just pure craftsmanship! Keep it up brotha
That’s my favorite bait to date. The fish seem to like it too. They are like, “hey look, it’s a Marlin signature series bait,,, let’s eat it!”
I enjoy when Chelsea does a cameo walk through. It makes it evident you aren't cranking out lures in a sterile factory. You are just the guy down the street inviting me into your garage where you make marvelous creations day after day. Same concept with showing the projects you have going on around your home.
Love that freedom hanging on your wall👍
I enjoyed your video! You are talented and funny all in one. Thanks for sharing.
This bait is perfect. Good job
"Look under your pillow at night, there might be a Fat-head Minnow." Hilarious dialog ! I think that 1/2 of the reason I watch these videos is for the funny banter.
The size and profile of that bait would be killer as a topwater walking bait! Awesome build and day on the water!
i think i have that same kayak, the 10 foot teton, i added a few fishing gear tracks, anchor trolley and cleats etc, love it for fishing!
" A bunch of words that rhyme with chuck" Truck, Luck, Duck, the possibilities are endless.
There's the winter bait action you were looking for. The profile, and colors are pretty appropriate for it too. Get it to suspend as you pointed out, or a slow rise. I like how you added the Male Cardinal call during the first rotation!
love the weight transfer baits!
I love how normal you all are. Like a neighbor.
"Early Morning Baitmaking with Marling"
Awesome as always man. 👏🙌
Marlin's words that need to be heard on a vid, "Oohne day!", "bicarb bakingsoda", "l did not fart was the chair", "starting with white", "not what. I am going for "😁😍
You’re editing skills are top notch
This may be my favorite looking lure yet
That is a cool and dusky looking fathead minnow. Keep them coming.
I didn't expect that type of action but was pretty cool!
Love the realistic and clean paint scheme
And I think it's funny that you seem to really get into certain things like how you did one weight transfer bait, weren't happy with it and continued playing around with the concept for the next few videos. It's a pattern I've noticed lmao
