And you know what absolutely PROVES this lore behind the creepers? Their appearance in Minecraft Dungeons. Creepers are introduced in Creeper Woods and Soggy Swamp. Woods and a SWAMP, the most common places for moss growth and peat bogs. Their new texture also seems to be more moss-like, as seen if you compare the Dungeons texture to the Minecraft texture. And when the Jungle Awakens DLC pack released, this theory just turned into facts. Creepers are the most common enemy in Jungle Awakens, and the only other mobs in the DLC are undead enemies with LITERAL MOSS GROWING OUT OF THEM, and plants. Sentient...plants. The Creeper seems to be the oddball here. But no, the creeper was the OG plant monster. Get out of here, Leapleaf and Whisperer!
Also creepers unlike skeletons, zombies and spiders don’t have naturally occurring mob spawners indicating that they aren’t animals (or ex animals) rather hinting towards them materially something else (plants)

I will only accept this theory if they’re are simply covered in moss and not SENTIENT MOSS...yes, this is Minecraft, the same game that has 9ft tall teleporting creatures that are allergic to water and I draw the line an SENTIENT MOSS

I mean, I can make a very convincing argument in favor of that, but still, the world of minecraft is CLEARLY rife with magical alteration: various rocks are innately magic, everything drops magic particles, endermen, magic casting mobs, THE NETHER AND UNDEAD, etc. There's a lotta magic in MC. It wouldn't be hard to imagine creepers are a byproduct of moss being altered innately by whatever magic apocalypse happened.
tl;dr I believe they ARE 100% made of spicy moss bois that reproduce by exploding on soon-to-be corpses, but made animate initially by some magic shenanigans

My theory is that creepers are filled with an explosive gas, hence why they float in water. They must have some sort of ignition mechanism, probably provoked by an instinct to avoid danger when a player goes too close

Until I was around 7 I used to think cacti turned into creepers at night and it would turn back into cacti in the morning. (My spawn of my only world was a desert so I had no way to disprove that in an old sized world). During the day I would actively to around the desert village destroying every cactus I found

Recently I've been trying to re watch all of mat past theories and it's weird and cool to see what his intro used to look like.
Your theory actually works very well considering creepers used to be a lot darker when they first came out, they also used to make the leaf particle when they were killed

Theres a mod called the voxels mod it's basically a new village where instead of villagers I have creepers, don't worry there are friendly! U have a reputation point which indicates how will the village treats u if its red well they won't allow u to go in their village and if u do! U die! The voxels mod was videoed by POPLARMMOS so go and watch that vid, it explains in alot of detail!

It may be just a theory but it's a theory that really makes alot of sense. More sense than any other explanation I've ever heard of the creeper. if creepers are messed up pigs like notch says, then they are just peepee poopoo's and sven is more powerful than pig. BUT if a lot of pigs attack sven, he will die. Now lets do that but with creepers. See creepers... lets say are mutated pigs that can explode. You would need 2 creeper explosions for sven to die. now to kill sven with pigs you would need a lot of them. And a pig attack mod, BUT its still pigs attacking. See pigs... Lets say they deal 1 heart of damage. So atleast 7 pigs are required to beat sven. But creepers can explode and are more advanced, so it would take 2. Creepers have tnt inside their body (atleast that's whats on a official mc tshirt) so creepers... Should have fire that they can activate but when they try, BOOOM it explodes. Now I have no idea where I'm going with this but hell I'm gonna keep typing. also I'm going to answer your question. Felix feeds sven, when he feeds him he gets more health. Anyway creepers can maybe control fire if it can light tnt. OR like he gast he also can shoot fire charges. But since firecharges activate TNT, it explodes. Now I have no idea how this comment is important but I don't care.
