That Dxomark rating of the xperia 1 is unbelievable. The worse thing is some people actually believe that as well.
I don't trust them
Just go look at their S10+ review, and go to GSMA arenas camera compare to Xperia1, with full res exif compare samples... for S10+ no mention of evident lense edge softness, also lack of more detail in textures than Sony, same edge halo problems, even more noise than Sony in the sky, even worse 5x zoom in quality, lack of detail in video at lower light... and somehow miraculously Sonys camera gets 20 pts lower score?!

Pretty much Dxomark is correct, Sammy 10+ do has some problem that only professional could see, but Sony's 1 is best for professional, just not for noobs like us, 10+ fits the most
Unfair photos of the first selfie photo, the sun was behind your head in the galaxy bu was shining on the lens on the Xperia. Should have changed the angle and made both equal
and with the suns flairs the photo is better,look on his face from xperia1 and look the washing of detail on sammy.
He did the same thing when he was testing the front camera video. 4:15-4:37

@@rondelmoore7130 true and that's due to the amazing dynamic range on Samsung in auto mode. The gap is reduced once you turn to manual I think. Saying that from my XZ3 experience. That's why I have requested manual camera comparison. Xz3 has better dynamic range so far as I can see than the Xperia 1, though can't say for sure. In fact Xperia 1 loses out in dynamic range and the lack of night mode, rest it has one of the best camera setup.
Xperia 1 is just too perfect for photography if you know how to use Sony phones ❤

Just got my Xperia today.,....I'm seriously amazed
I had an Xperia Z3 and it was not just a really good looking device even by todays standards but the 20.7 MP camera it had was ahead of its time. Also consider that a lot of manufacturers also use Sony image sensors. The ever popular iPhone 4S a lot of people used back in the day had one! Really that was an 8 MP camera but it shows you how good software can make them.
Xperia 1 is natural, note 10 is vibrant...I choose natural😍

dont you think its a bit dull and the dynamic range is obviously shitty in xperia 1. The note's picture is more saturated than the Xperia but its much more pleasing photo with great dynamic range. if you don't want hdr functions then you can just switch it off in the note.

In picture 2, for the Note 10, you are backing the sun light, so it doesn't affect the photo, but for the Xperia 1, you are not blocking up the sun, you can't compare both pictures, because they were not taken under the same scenerio.
I'm a Sony fan boy and I know how to use the Camera feature on Xperia devices very well so I already chose Xperia 1 because Sony make its devices for advice camera experience HDR is outstanding on Sony when you turn it on

Acording to DXOMARK, XPERIAS may have worst software for photography...but why is nobody talking about the hardware??XPERIAs have best of best hardware for photography out there....SONY is not for general people..they are for professionals....that's why they are not putting HDR in automode...

In your photo selfie you caught a lot of sunshine with the Xperia leaving you unfavorable...
In the glasses photos, it used the way it makes the background run out of focus.
Another detail I forgot to mention is that the automatic modes of the Xperia were never the best and even in the automatic modes one should use the effects of clarity of colors and brightness...
Pixel and Huawei are the best in automatic mode but in manual modes the Xperias are always better than everyone else! However! You must know how to use what you have available for use!

I like 1 better, because Sam's 10+ picture is hurting my eyes, but Xperia 1's image is natural, good for the eyes. Maybe good for people do Instagrams, but professional like phone filmer, Xperia 1 is good choice
I just hate they always remove 4k60fps, that's why I use Sony as seconsary phone since Xperia XZ1, and uses LG as main (rn is LG G8) since LG is more compact and better than Sammy.

Unlike most phone cameras, Sony Xperia 1 produces much more natural results. I would understand lots of people might prefer more vibrant galaxy though.

Another great vid, keep it up. I have the Xperia 1 (PaydroBx on IG, hello!), and I completely disagree with that DxO Mark. It's much better than they give it credit for. Even in this very video, you can see how close in quality the two phones are. A few notes:
1. That selfie pic in the woods: looks like you didn't block the sun in the Xperia 1 the way you did when you shot with the Note 10. Not a fair comparison.
2. That HDR pic of the dog: the Note 10 looks terribly unnatural. I wouldn't call that a good photo by any means
3. It's hard to know which phone has better color science, as I wasn't actually there with you taking these photos. If we are talking accuracy, it would help if you state in your vids which phone better represented the scene you were shooting. Just asking "which phone is better" without any context is purely a subjective question.

I agree with dxomarks review on the phone especially on dynamic range, haloing and artefacts. What i dont agree is the scores given, theyre too low. I would have given the xperia 1 a total score of 100.

In the trees, a tiny movement can create a big flare like this. While the Sony may have some washing out, it’s not this extreme
I have both too and I think I'd agree with the comments about the Xperia being more natural. I think on balance I prefer shooting on the Xperia but - there's a few things that make me hesitate to keep it over the Note. It is much slower to start, and straight up crashes from time to time making it unreliable. The camera app is also not as good to use IMO.

At 1:20 photos you are comparing are totally different, With the sun shining in the camera even full frame cameras struggle.
Sony = Natural, Samsung = High brightness
Note 10+ = 113
Sony Xperia 1 = 99
I still think the xz3 camera was more superior than xperia 1.. also xz premium was the best
I liked the 19MP cam also. It was kinda wider than usual without the fish eye effect, just wide enough, and colours are accurate. Samsung adds colours and the pictures never look true to life.
I do hope they also release xperia 2 with the more superior cam feature, cause I'll switch back when they have available in stores or if really good I'll buy off online stores
It's very clear:
1. Xperia: better sharpness, most natural colors, and balanced HDR. Manual mode does best. Some of your selfies are not balanced and you took only auto, plus that Sun into the lens compared to Note where there was no Sun in the lens just covering your shoulder, so it's not a fair comparison there. Xperia 1 can do better and regarding the fact it has the best oled on the market, faster and it's cheaper, just top. So Xperia 1 is top notch for the most experienced camera shooters. Note is for stupid chicks that don't know what camera and shooting is. Sorry but only snobs and noobs buy Crapsung and sadly it's a real facts among my 'friends' too.
If these phones were females:
Sony Xperia 1: A lady who naturally looks stunning without any make-up
Samsung Galaxy Note 10+: A lady who looks artificial and mediocre even with lots of make-up(fake-up)

I never believed in the DX0 mark because they are them selves the Zer0 mark. Don't trust no one, just decide it for your self! PERIOD
Seriously, we cannot see how the actual scene look like. It would be good if a third device professional camera can be used as reference so we can make a better comparsion for the two phones.
Have to give it to note 10 plus in overall score and regarding dxo mark, I am probably one of the earliest people who started rejecting their scoring specially when they overrated the p20 Pro that had serious issue with colour reproduction which was attributed due to the very implementation of its camera set-up while at the same time they conveniently ignored the horrible video recording in the p20 Pro. So let's not even discuss em shady scoring yellow bellies...
P.s. kindly do a manual camera mode comparison. That too is something no other reviewer does to the best of my knowledge. Though I must say you haven't heard any of my previous requests 😟
First glasses shot Sony better, dog HDR shot Sony definitely better as Samsung HDR overprocessing is just too much(says much on Sonys HDR high quality) , selfie shot Samsung better(but Sony not using HDR Samsung uses HDR), panoramic shot Samsung better, cityscape and boat shots equal just different color(believe Samsung is more saturated), video Sony better(not as good DR but Sony again doesnt use HDR and Samsung does autoHDR, but detail level definitely Sony), portrait Samsung, lowlights first one Samsung and second one Sony.
Overall Beating punches from scene to scene, but Sony would definitely maybe even win if using HDR on some of those scenarios where you didnt use it.
So why is Dxo faking Xperia 1 scoring so much?! Cause its an advertising site pretending being professional. If OEM pays out, you get highest score on day one of release, if OEM doesnt pay out, you get a low score after 2 months from release (perfect example of payout bias is their portrait background separation score, where a simple mug scene was used for Samsung scoring, and a seriously demanding grating scene for Sony....?!).
note 10+ is on totally different level!😍😍😍 no comparision...the camera,the display the overall look of the phone... note 10+=best smartphone of 2019 so far

It's actually not. Each of these phones has advantages over the other in camera department.
People who want faster autofocus with eye tracking, more natural colors and like to use manual mode will buy Xperia. But if you like more saturated colors and don't want to tinker with your phone, then Note is for you.

Hope that the nxt xperia launches this year but I need about 21MP for cropping and detail in daylight. The zoom quality on high meg xperia phones are pretty good.

Well DXO tests phone's cameras in auto mode only. Sony usually suffers because the HDR can't be automatically turn on in auto mode. That's why xperia 1 can only get that much score. In manual mode however, it could produce slightly better photo compare to note 10+ (slightly) due to it's more natural color. On the other hand, DxO is still quite relevant test, since most people around the world take photo in auto mode
Sony stands out due to it's accurate and natural colours.
Sony does do a good job with natural photos
I say in two years max Sony is goanna be blowing away it's competition. Why? Because it's already doing it and yet people doubt Sony. They make actual cameras for a living. They face Cannon.

I disagree with the Xperia 1 camera score results on Dxomark
Again 4:22 for the galaxy you are facing the sun, you are in the shade, the sun light is not affecting the image/video, 4:26 for Xperia 1, you have your back to the sun, and you are in the sunlight, the sun light is affecting the video quality of the Xperia 1. Next time, try to face the same direction and be within the same area.
Both where taken in the same way. The light was behind me in both. I like to make the videos as authentic as possible. Quite literally I'll just film those bits On the fly... but I guess since you mention it, I'll put more thought into this for future videos

Sony is more on the natural looking image while Samsung is more on the advertising image or if you want to emphasize the subject.
Looks like you intentionally made the Xperia 1 look bad on the selfies test by letting the camera face the sun causing flares.
Hear too many times that DxOmark has kind of conflict with Sony, therefore they don't like them and lower down scores a lot intentionally.

well technically a lot of companies paid DxOmark to 'help' them develop their camera software and such to be better. They're not only a camera tester agency, but they also some sort of advisory agency for mobile phone companies. They even sell their camera test package to companies, which as you can guess, company like Sony, LG and I think oppo don't want to pay

Sony xperia 1 parfact phone
Sometimes I find that if I get a lot of glare or blur I may try cleaning the lens. A clean dry microfiber cloth is all you really need as long as you know it has not touched the ground and picked up dirt. Once you clean the lens try the photo again and see how much better it looks. It doesn't have to be anything on the lens to cause that problem that is immediately noticeable. It can be a light smudge on the lens that is just enough to keep a photo from coming out as good as it could have.

I have note10+ since sony xperia 1 is taking soooo long to be available in the Philippines. I mean we have it, but it's not yet available for shipping at the time I needed to buy a new phone (cracked my old one). I have to go to the capital Manila and that's something I usually avoid. Although the note10+ is great, I still prefer the xperia. I'm so envious of those who currently have it. 😔😔😔

i agree and admit that note 10+ do better camera, but the xperia 1 just a bit lower and not too far away behind as the DXOmark review, that site is absolutely rubbish
note 10+ absolutely has to be better because it's released newer and it has correction of previous note 9 and s10+, and it also more expensive about $200 - $300 than Xperia 1 . but Xperia 1 just a very little behind and even has better honest picture without too much Ai, that's why so many people said that sony software was not good , perhaps sony think that man behind the cam is still the key for good photography , so it give all advantages in manual mode instead of auto mode.
dxomark is a scam, they only really tesy automatic computer controlled modes, not manual, so they are actually testing the computer software not the lenses, and missing out on so much.
That usually gives samsung, google and apple great scores becuase they are good at software that takes multiple pictures and put them together for a pleasing picture instead of a real one.

the Note 10+ is a newer device and still its struggling a lot to beat Xperia 1. Xperia has more natural colors and u shooted some shots in wrong angle bro
Preferred the output from the samsung. Much brighter and dynamic range is better. White balance too. Better this year from sony but they're not quite at the same level as Samsung in mobile photography
this is like comparing a $80 phone to a $1000 flagship its totally unfair

100% agree with Dxomark ! Samsung Galaxy NOTE 10 +, left no chance for Xperia 1
i feel Dxomark is biased against Sony. I bought the galaxy s10+ and shot a lot of images with it and together with my Xperia 10+. I much prefer the pix from the Sony and sold my s10+ after just 5 days. Samsung pix tend to be over-exposed and have unnatural color saturation, while Sony pix are just so naturally rendered. I have no idea how Dxomark can rate the Sony so low.

Note10 photos are much much better than xperia1.
They both look good, so it's up to the individuals.
