- Sony Xperia 1 versus Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus side-by-side comparison, to see which has the best camera tech, performance, battery life, specs and design.
The fresh new Xperia 1 flagship phone is hot competition for the Samsung S10+, one of the best premium mobiles of 2019 so far. Both blowers boast a triple-lens camera setup, which can shoot 4K HDR video and capture good looking everyday photos. They also pack the best displays of any smartphones out there, although Sony's 4K screen offers cinematic style visuals with the Creator Mode smarts and 21:9 aspect ratio.
As far as the specs go, you cant go wrong: premium performance is guaranteed (although the S10 Plus uses a different platform depending on the region) and I'm impressed by the Xperia's excellent battery life despite its smaller capacity cell.
As for the software, you get plenty of bonus features packed on top of Android Pie, especially on Samsung's phone courtesy of One UI.

Sony Xperia 1 is just class apart! That 4k 21:9 display without any notch or punch hole cams is absolutely stunning and the phone itself looks so premium as well as built like a tank. Xperia 1 seems like a game changer for sony. Its sad they have shut down xperia business in lot of countries recently.
Very great phone but poor marketing. This is why loyal Sony fans should keep support Sony. Switching other brand is not a problem. But this lead to over comparing phone. And toxic fans increase.

Anyway, Sony hi-res BT is solid (ldac etc) if you have a hi-res compatible headphone (which comes free in the UK if preordered 👍!) I won't need the jack ever... This was a deal breaker for me in the past, not anymore!

It is the only phone, after 7 years of galaxy note series ownership, that it is really going to convince me to shift to another brand.... I like it like hell
I got mine yesterday and is awesome, 21:9 ratio is genius and better in the hand and pocket (narrower) the screen is so sharp and crisp. Superb colours, not over saturated as many phones, the white are white, you can control the screen tone (cold to warm with RGB sliders, giving you total calibration control) . No blured pixel all the finest details of the UI... So happy.
And the battery life is rock solid as always with Sony... A superb phone... 👍

@@hieunguyentrung4875 from my limited camera experience so far and comparing with my XZ premium, the camera is finally well improved... The autofocus is super fast and sharp and the colour seems natural and pretty good (not over saturated like many other phones). The selfie camera also gives good results...
@@tonydau1822 I had a XZ Premium before, there used to be a problem after pictures were taken, images were not straight & had like a fisheye effect, is this problem solved with the Xperia 1🤔?
Don't know about everyone else but I hate that camera hole in the screen. I would rather have the bezel at the top.

The winner for me, the Sony Xperia 1. I have it sinds 24-05-2019 and I am very satisfied and happy.., the performance, the design and the software android by Sony are top 5 stars. With this one it is my 3rd Sony phone (before Z3+ & XZs) and l perfer and I always choice Sony phones. ;)

i thought i'd always stick with samsung, but i don't like the looks of their 10s. if i were to get a samsung it would likely be a note 9, but i'm heavily leaning towards the xperia 1.

EMANeleVenElevEn so you think the higher frame rate makes it automatically the best display? bitch please. So many other aspects need to be considered when it comes display quality. For example the HDR handling, sharpness and color reproduction. All categories in with the S10 and Xperia 1 (especially) are superior. But thats to be expected since Sony and Samsung are in the TV business as well and therefore have some experience.

I really don't care if you compare the Xperia 1 to a Quantum Computer or any of these phones. The durability, reliability and user experience is what Sony users have always appraise for. I am going to buy this phone now

@@usmantariq7997 after 2 days of use, so far rock solid... Fully charged at 7:00 and 67% left at 17:45 using it as normal, browsing, you tube watching, 3 hrs of BT music, emails etc (no. Gaming). As always, battery seems to be well optimised on Sony, one of their strength... That will do me perfectly. Easily a day of battery (I usually charge my phone overnight) no worries there!

I've been looking forward to this comparison. The Xperia 1 is *very* impressive! I love the design! It looks so good! Yes, it is unfortunate that the Xperia 1 has no headphone jack, bit of a bummer, but you can just buy a *Sony Charge and Listen cable off eBay for about £15 - you basically have to stick it into the charging port, and you can charge your phone and plug your earphones in.* *If I had to choose either the S10 Plus or the Xperia 1, I'd definitely go for the Xperia 1.*

One tip to make your reviews even better:
*Use a different wallpaper* on the devices. As the one I keep seeing you have on them (like in this video) is um... Well, it's not the best... As you can't really see how the widgets/app icons look like etc. It kind of distracts you from the overall interface and the look of the phone. Maybe opt for something more cleaner, preferably white as that kind of colour makes it easier to compare the overall look of the screen and the device itself.

I have been a Samsung fan for the last 8 years. I decided to look into other manufacturers after seeing Huawei. I really didn't know the sonys were made in house In Japan. This phone looks awesome. I just hope on their next flagship they can catch up to the rest of the game. They blew every one else away on the screen.

Finally, I've been waiting on a video breaking down these two phones. Now its time for me to wait till the Xperia 2 comes out, then I will make the switch from 8 years of Galaxy phones on over to the Xperia. I am in love with the 1 and 2 models. I personally just feel the 2 will be better to suite my needs.

Great review, I got my Xperia 1 in purple yesterday from O2 and am blown away by how great the screen is when watching 4K HDR content. Love the purple it really pops and makes the phone stand out, I was concerned originally about the size of the thing but as you say in this video the weight balance is so good that I forget it's a 6.5 inch device I'm holding.

I don't know how much they could be making in accessories surely a phone sale is worth more than a few accessories. I bought a couple shit dongles till I found the google dongle which I bought 3 of expecting them to have a poor lifespan but they've lasted well.
It's the actual port that blew out on mine. No port. No phone. Well that's a poor boomerang sales grab if something as simple as a crappy port makes the phone unusable.
Wish you included brightness (nits) comparison. Very important to me in broad daylight situations. Otherwise great review.

Right. Sony takes us back to the classics with an uninterrupted viewing experience, which modern kids nowadays will never know for sure.
And it's crazy because people heavily disliked any sort of screen cutout on modern day smartphones, and here we have Sony who listens to the consumers and made the near-perfect device, and complaints are still to be found.
I get that demand will never end, but at some point, people must be happy for some time with the current products they already have smh.

Yeah, for the display tone, it is not just a cold to warm slider. On the. Xperia 1 you get a full 3 RGB sliders to get the perfect white (no blueish, yellowish, reddish screen etc...) another great little detail of Sony.

I already own a Xperia 1 and I'm using Xperia-Devices for over 8 years, so I know the benefits of these settings like the Trilluminous displays, Bravia-Engine/X-Reality/X1 for Mobile and so on.
I'm just happy about the fact that somebody shows it's settings compared to other devices, 'cause everybody complains about their displays, what's completely rubbish in my opinion...
Comparing Sony's IPS-Panels to Samsungs AMOLED-Panels for years is like comparing an apple to a pear...
So these comparisons were mostly rubbish...
Now they've got a HDR-OLED-Panel since the Xperia XZ3 and now you see what Sony makes differently compared to Samsungs AMOLED flicky and oversaturated screen~

As always, the Sony looks classier than the Samsung. The 1 is clearly one of the best smartphones available right now!

First of all great review. Not sure if you have any video dsp background or not but where the Sony will shine is by showing real cinema footage and not a documentary. It’s very difficult to process video and preserve it’s cinema-like feel. Any display can do a documentary, or sports, or animation and most displays boost the saturation to make it appear better, but for a film-like feel you can’t use the same technique.

Sony win so far, scan rate on the Samsung s10 doesn't match the camera's scan rate hence the flash. Colour is much better on Sony too. Samsung still looks oversaturated
Where do you get those high quality anime wallpapers?
I think you should know why they separated the power button from the fingerprint sensor, it's from popular feedbacks because it used to accidentally unlocks when the user just wants to check for notifications as they no longer support double tapping to wake up the phone since the last series (from XZ2 onwards)
