@@ragercrepair9301 Yeah I'd be irritated about that to. I think that would be a hot selling item. Especially since Redcat has at least 10+ RC's that use that diff.
Hi and thanks for video. I just looked the bearings up and on Amazon they are saying they are 8x19x6mm, which dimensions will need to be modified to work? I may have missed something. I have a Shredder and purchased a center diff online that is metal casing, gears, and spur from Redcat (I thought). It's been at least 6 months since I messed with it. I do remember the front diff cups were wallowed out, not severely but enough to where I wanted to replace them and it seems like they were unavailable to order? I'm unsure if I have talked to you about the Shredder I purchased used online and had to replace a lot of parts.......I kinda got aggravated and put it in a tote and went to something else...lol. Now I want to get it going and have been watching videos to see what has changed in 6-8m time. I do know the spur and case is metal. If it's gonna mess up on me soon, I definitely want to prevent it. The front bearings were shot so I ordered them, aluminum knuckles all 4, metal steering servo saver, steering linkages......again I think the cups of the front diff needed replacing and front diff was nearly dry. Any recommendations, links to videos, etc would be appreciated. I just traded a lot of items for it then it was so worn, parts were out of stock, etc.....that's why it got put on the back burner. I will be running on 4s and even on 4s the Pro-Line Masher tires on it ballooned dangerously bad.....I really wish I would have just bought a new one but now I have a lot of $ in this one and definitely can't sell it for what I have in it. Hopefully you can help me out with suggestions. Thanks in advance
i am going to do the same thin but i am going to us the outside of the redcat bearing bust them open an it will fit in am make up for that mm that is needed do you think it will work i know you said i have to use the drive cups the outside of the bearing is just enuff to make up that slack my friend
Yes. Tore them apart, shimmed them and added 15k diff fluid. Then added lithium grease and a little Lucas oil stabilizer to the diff cases. Nothing has broken since.
From what I'm seeing the bearing needed isn't available. I can't even find them anymore. So what you can do is take the stock shredder bearing apart and keep the outer bearing race. Slide that over the stock arrma bearing and red locktite the outer race to the arrma bearing. Then put it all in the stock shredder mounts.
I'm pretty new to the hobby, I have a couple of RCs but first time working on a differential. Just got the redcat shredder and thinking about doing this upgrade. Can I buy the whole center differential of a kraton 6s and just change the cups? Or what else would I need? Thank you.
It's a little harder than that honestly. I had to search and find custom bearings which I can't seem to even find anymore. I'm working on a new design for this atm. Hopefully I can get something figured out soon.
@@ragercrepair9301 Oh ok. Ill probably just shim it and put different weight for now until it breaks lol. Once you have something figured out please let us know. Thanks!
@@ragercrepair9301 oh ok because I just ordered all the parts and wasn’t sure if I should transfer over my goblin shim to the Keaton diff. Also learned don’t run a shredder on 8s
Well yes 8s will eat everything. Lol. I would say get the correct shims for whatever diff you're installing. Using new parts, you will know that aren't damaged in any way
So I can buy the arrma diff wit the aluminum case and jus basically make a bigger groove for the bearing and change the cups to fit on my shredder and that’s it??
Rage Rc Repair if there really is a noticeable difference between the diffs then all parts necessary to do the complete Arrma diffs swap because I was already going through them on 4s so I know it’s gonna be worse with 6s power
Yea it’s too bad that redcat products are jus plain and mediocre at best!! So the term “u get wat u pay for@ is true wit redcat!! I kno I have 5 of ther trucks and I’ll nvr buy another redcat anything again!!
Well if you leave them stock they are pretty damn tough. They are focused on people that don't wanna spend a grand to get in the hobby. And in all honesty I've owned them all and if you take the time to set them up right, the redcat hold up just as well as arrma and Traxxas.
Right! So basically I haven't had any trouble with any of their electronics. But I haven't bought a newer model in a while. I have 4 shredders, the earthquake, a volcano, and I've had the had the aftershock and the back draft. Bought them all used and repaired them and sold them. Thyy are still going and that was 3 months ago. Lol

@@ragercrepair9301 those bearings are hard to find, wondering if the whole Arrma motor mount can be transplanted, or the one from the Corally trucks?
I just used a dremel and hogged out the shredder mount. Then got the 5x19mm bearings. Kinda a bitch but it works.

I don't know if you still have the same rad cat shrutter but you can get ceramic bearings for itt
Yes they make them. They are expensive but well worth the money!
Yeah I got some fasteddy bearings for it out the box the back diff went back to the drawing board with the redcat.
would the Karton EXB diff be a better fit then the BLX

Yes. Tore them apart, shimmed them and added 15k diff fluid. Then added lithium grease and a little Lucas oil stabilizer to the diff cases. Nothing has broken since.
