I let my boyfriend (Okami_Kayma) know he's famous now :D I really hope they fix this before Open Beta. I think they longer they let this stay up as it is, especially after 10th, the worse the situation will be and the higher the risk of legal action. Just having clearer wording would be great while they think on how to improve the store to match what they promised in the blog post. Speaking of which, I think they set up the expectations they're not meeting themselves. I don't think I or (hopefully most) other players are holding them to an impossible standard- we just thought they would do what they promised they would, such as direct purchases, no tricks, transparency, etc. They said a lot of things we all wanted to hear, and then did the opposite with their actions, and weren't transparent about this with us. They shot themselves in the foot and I hope they can recover and do better, because despite its flaws, I've been enjoying Palia so far and I truly want it to be the game they pictured for us- cozy, chill, friendly and safe. The prices are alright, they dont have to pretend its at a discount though. But my issue with the game is that they're using the premium currency strategy. Which is they want you to purchase a separate currency in order to by the premium items. Like.. no, stop that. Just let people buy directly with their money instead of over buying, leaving people with 8 bucks of currency that they never wanted to have.
I do get that but the problem is even if they did that other people will complain Ether way bc alot of ppl hate cash shop but does ppl don't understand online games can't be 100% free but do prefer same as you buy out right instead of a premium currency
it's intentional because the currency has to be bought in certain amounts and those amounts are always just a tad more then what you actually need so then you feel like you have to add to what you have left to buy something else so it doesn't go to waste. it's a marketing strategy. I'd personally be fine with it if I was getting more for the money. it comes out to like $30+ per outfit.
One of my disappointment is that you don't get outfit for skill mastery or anything at all, all cosmetic stuck in cash shop. It feel like such a let down Another disappointment is how they price each item/bundle and the amount of premium currency you can buy I love the game, the developer deserve the money but not this sleazy way.
We don't get clothes through skill mastery, but we get decor this way. (Though some decor has to be purchased with the in-game coins.) The Homestead set is especially susceptible to recoloring too.

Citizens Advice which advises the UK public on their rights gives this example 'Example You went to an electrical store to buy a TV. A salesperson gave you the wrong advice about what TV would best meet your needs and you were persuaded to buy a more expensive one than you needed. The TV was also advertised as '£250, reduced from £450' - but the TV had never been sold in the store for £450.' This is EXACTLY for the most part the case of what is happening with the premium store. They HAVE to refund people or they're going to be in hot waters. If the issue becomes wide enough, at best they can get a slap on the wrist and told to change. At worst they can be banned from trading or selling in Europe and the UK. Which right now is a big chunk of their already existing playerbase.

discounts are not illegal in the EU. The supermarkets and all shops have discounts all year all over the place you can buy a car new for xy € and with 1000 KM used for 30% less.... you can buy a bikine in sommer for xy € and in winter for 70% less you can buy fuel for xy E and the dealer on otherside of the border can sell it for 30% less, nothing illegal about pricing, that is business.
I just want to see the coins bundle gone. If i want to buy 957 coins then i should be able to instead of being stuck with buying more than i need then having too little leftover to buy anything else.
I don't mind the price personally but everyones situation is different. It would be cool if there were outfits that you unlock by just playing the game. Also there needs to be a paypal option. I don't have a credit card. I do 99% of my purchases in cash and the other 1% is for gaming where I use paypal.
Would be good if they first implement some actual MMO or Community systems in this so called "Community MMO" before caring about the store so much. Right now it would be better off being Singleplayer... and I love the game don't get me wrong. And I enjoy 10% of the time when people are sharing or calling out spots. But I don't enjoy 90% of the time when people are annoying and the game is set up in a way that activity makes you hate them ... not really smart tbh. Furthermore there is no real way to interact .. no Trading and not even Poximity chat. I really hope they add some way to actually do something with people that are not your friends
The problem with the bundles not actually having a discount could lead to legal issues, in most European countries it is illegal and falls under false advertisement, a product has to be on full price for a certain amount of time before it can be discounted. Now if they advertise a discount on a price that has never been seen this could open them up for a lawsuit by European trade commissions.
A game this good, (and it s only beta still), shouldnt be free. I hate how expensive the items are, but there's no other way for me to support them at the moment. I'd rather pay a box price. F2P always creates so many more problems than are necessary, (griefers, botting, etc.).
the bigger issue with the bundles is the variety and price. the bundles should at least have three different types of outfits instead of $30 each for a very slight color variation.
Weather you buy one outfit first or the entire bundle right away, you’re still getting the outfits as a ‘buy one get one’ type of deal. The items are initially listed at full price but the bundle gives you one for free, so the prices listed are not a lie in any way. All they really have to do is have the bundle say ‘buy 2 get one free!’ And if you get one then the last two would say ‘2 for one’ or something. You are paying full price for 2 outfits no matter how you go about it.
I'm glad they responded to this, but it still doesn't change my opinion that it's too expensive. I didn't expect them to be perfect, I hoped they would have been better overall. I think the issue with the dye is what has really upset me the more I think about it. I was thinking about Diablo 4, and how they have basically the same system of dye for their armor. Every piece in the game can be "dyed" with multiple sets you have right from the start. It's the same as Palia. And you can mix and match these colors however you want. You also have Head, Hands, Chest, Legs, Boots - so 5 armor slots instead of just 3. Their monetization system isn't good either. But when you buy a new cosmetic, it automatically comes in all the dyes you already have. No need to buy a bundle or set to get that. I just think it falls under their "no tricks" where I feel like that's a trick to make you buy extra costumes just to get more colors, making you pay for something you technically already have for other things. It just upsets me.

In the first instance pointing out how they wanted to offer a 'better option' than more traditional bundles and not pressure us to buy all at once. Going on to say the discount is real, even after people pointed out that they pay the same 'discounted' price if buying the pieces individually rather than the bundle!! Most companies if offering better deals than their rivals are very quick to point this out as it's a great marketing strategy, however, how this was displayed on the in game store was as clear as mud, and I am sure that a lot of people were enticed into buying the bundle based on this fear of 'missing out' on a deal. Nothing they have said so far has changed my mind on them knowingly using such a 'predatory' tactic, after assuring us that they would not use such practices. When it was pointed out that this is illegal in the EU/UK, they entirely skipped over any legal ramifications, which astonished me!!! To me this is all smoke and mirrors, keep everything cloudy and unclear in the hope that nobody will realise what is going on now/or has happened in the past. What I found more disappointing, if true, is that a Reddit user who claims to have been in early Alpha said that similar issues had been raised over 12 months ago, at which time the Devs apologised and removed items from the shop, only for them to reappear in Beta. Normally I would give no credence to such a report, as there is no documentation/proof to support it, but as in all cases, once you have been 'let down' by a company/game, it then becomes easier to accept as true any further 'bad' reports. So basically if we believe we have been lied to or misled, then it's human nature to mistrust anything further from said Company/Devs. Singularity are not doing themselves any favours here, especially as we head towards 'open beta' as most of what I am seeing is leaning towards mostly negative reviews. A clear and concisive response (hopefully with good changes to the shop system) is needed and it is needed urgently, if they are seen to be listening to the community and responding accordingly, they may yet be able to mitigate some of this backlash. I like Palia and hope it will succeed, l admit it won't be my main game as it's just not quite 'fleshed out' enough at present, but it has great potential and I truly believe they could have a great future if they are more honest and open in their dealings with prospective players.

The very least they could do is close the premium store until further notice. It's just for obvious damage control at that point. I really thought they'd close the premium store until further notice after this hotfix. But nope, it's still open. I really love and have supported this game for a while. But ever since they opened the premium store during the alpha stress tests I've had red flags. Even though they gave back the currency and gave a percentage boost, it feels like something you just shouldn't do during an alpha release of the game when everyone's data is going to get wiped. It's just not something that sat right with me. Now them ignoring so many players letting them know this is against the law and actively trying to get in touch with them about it is just an added red flag. I just feel like this is a sinking ship and they already know it. So are trying to make back as much money as possible before it goes under.
@@nightbird316 I had high expectations for this game and have been internally debating with myself if perhaps I am so dissatisfied because I had set unrealistic expectations, but after speaking to friends (who haven't yet played but are watching streams/Reddit etc.) and of course my experience of Beta, the concensus is that it doesn't meet their expectations either. It's not just the shop where I feel they have misled people, I can't remember which, but one of their promotional vids shows a group of friends turning up at a house, where a cosy meal is laid out on a table, leading people to believe that you can have friends come over and sit down for a meal, I think they have created (whether intentional or not) a higher expectation than they can at present deliver. Others have told me that they also had the same expectations and some of their promotional vids are misleading. I really didn't expect Palia to be launched until 2024 and to be honest, I think the release should have been delayed, in my opinion it's just not ready yet. I mean we can't even interact with the furniture we make, no sitting down together, a cabinet that is labelled as a 'pantry' but you can't store anything in it, endless problems with grouping/party/chat, the basic systems that most players expect. There are so many little things that are beginning to annoy me!! So even though I would love to think this is just my individual view, I know in reality it is not and if I feel this way then many others will too. I am trying to be positive and hope that they can make it work, but in reality I do tend to feel as you do, that this will be a ship that sinks.
@@jaydalonas6569 No honestly, you're not alone. I feel like I've come out of the honeymoon phase of the game, and I am getting more questions and concerns about it by the day. They have really polished what they do have but seemed to forget the core things they intended to be. Which was a community sim MMO. Those two things are probably by far the weakest things they have despite everything else feeling thought out. They polished the wagon but forgot to maintain the wheels is a good way to describe it.
Not related, but I haven't seen a good farm video. Anyone that I mention planting tomato/potato down the middle of thebplots seems surprised by it. Curious if you do wheat/cotton or something else on the sides (was thinking wheat/onion for similar grow times... unkess maybe wheat/rice will double up on the bonus production)
Insightful video. I just got access to Palia this weekend and have been kicking the tires a bit (if you see Fibbs running around, give me a wave). It would be wonderful if the game was able to succeed, and it seems the developers are trying to be better than the industry standard. Personally, I would rather believe in the kindness and potential of the community and the developers to make something great together, even though I understand that is optimistically naïve on my part. The only problem I have with the cash shop is that we need to buy premium currency and have leftovers, you can't convince me it was an "oopsie we didn't notice the bundles didn't match". Nah, it was intentional.
To be honest 50 quid for a full body skin is just absurd. I love the game and don't care if they wanna have a cash shop and stuff, even if it gave mats i wouldn't care. But I really really like the sernuk horn outfit but I'd rather buy food for 2 weeks than pay for that.
About the bundle costs ... in USA currency. For me as an Australian I then have to factor in the currency rate exchange this makes them expensive ... ie: $9.99 = AU$15.00+ It's a good thing, I can avoid buying them. But I was looking forward to getting some of this stuff /oh well. Maybe it will get better, it is early days.
No not better, cheaper is what I'm hearing. and this could either go two ways, they earn more money from people buying more or lose money cause they're not making enough to fully support the game, it's a balancing act that I hope some game will achieve in the future.

Definitely some people think that, yes. They would prefer a totally consumer-friendly environment, which is not what we have. I've gotten some heat for suggesting that S6 has followed what they said they would do, in the narrowest view, but people have said they interpreted the phrasing in the blog post as saying they would be as consumer friendly as possible, and there is an admission from WizardCrab in that post that they fell short at least with regards to the way the bundles are communicated.
I get annoyed with people that pay NOTHING to play a game that actually has a lot of content and the potential to have never-ending content and then COMPLAIN about a micro-transaction model. Yeah, the coins seem somewhat expensive, but I come from the days of paying a monthly subscription just to access a game, so I'm fine with micro transactions that I'm not required to purchase and it's only if I want to. I usually do because I feel it's only fair to support the game at some point for the hard work they are doing!

@@jaydalonas6569 No honestly, you're not alone. I feel like I've come out of the honeymoon phase of the game, and I am getting more questions and concerns about it by the day. They have really polished what they do have but seemed to forget the core things they intended to be. Which was a community sim MMO. Those two things are probably by far the weakest things they have despite everything else feeling thought out. They polished the wagon but forgot to maintain the wheels is a good way to describe it.
Not related, but I haven't seen a good farm video. Anyone that I mention planting tomato/potato down the middle of thebplots seems surprised by it. Curious if you do wheat/cotton or something else on the sides (was thinking wheat/onion for similar grow times... unkess maybe wheat/rice will double up on the bonus production)
Insightful video. I just got access to Palia this weekend and have been kicking the tires a bit (if you see Fibbs running around, give me a wave). It would be wonderful if the game was able to succeed, and it seems the developers are trying to be better than the industry standard. Personally, I would rather believe in the kindness and potential of the community and the developers to make something great together, even though I understand that is optimistically naïve on my part. As always, I appreciate your video and your willingness to be a voice of introspection and reason in the community. Thank you, kindly.

The question is, why cant we earn simple clothes without the premium shop? Its worse than most F2P games out there
The only problem I have with the cash shop is that we need to buy premium currency and have leftovers, you can't convince me it was an "oopsie we didn't notice the bundles didn't match". Nah, it was intentional.
Palia is a Cash Shop masquerading as an MMO.
To be honest 50 quid for a full body skin is just absurd. I love the game and don't care if they wanna have a cash shop and stuff, even if it gave mats i wouldn't care. But I really really like the sernuk horn outfit but I'd rather buy food for 2 weeks than pay for that.
About the bundle costs ... in USA currency. For me as an Australian I then have to factor in the currency rate exchange this makes them expensive ... ie: $9.99 = AU$15.00+
It's a good thing, I can avoid buying them. But I was looking forward to getting some of this stuff /oh well. Maybe it will get better, it is early days.

No not better, cheaper is what I'm hearing. and this could either go two ways, they earn more money from people buying more or lose money cause they're not making enough to fully support the game, it's a balancing act that I hope some game will achieve in the future.
No most of us are surprised at the price. Hope it doesn’t hurt their game. Really liked this game but to pay 50.00 for a costume That really does nothing most of us are not going to stay.

Definitely some people think that, yes. They would prefer a totally consumer-friendly environment, which is not what we have. I've gotten some heat for suggesting that S6 has followed what they said they would do, in the narrowest view, but people have said they interpreted the phrasing in the blog post as saying they would be as consumer friendly as possible, and there is an admission from WizardCrab in that post that they fell short at least with regards to the way the bundles are communicated.

I get annoyed with people that pay NOTHING to play a game that actually has a lot of content and the potential to have never-ending content and then COMPLAIN about a micro-transaction model. Yeah, the coins seem somewhat expensive, but I come from the days of paying a monthly subscription just to access a game, so I'm fine with micro transactions that I'm not required to purchase and it's only if I want to. I usually do because I feel it's only fair to support the game at some point for the hard work they are doing!
I hate I cannot participate the premium store. In order to buy any of the skins I’d want; I’d have to buy a larger bundle of coins and then I’ll have useless leftover coins that pressure me to buy more in an endless cycle.
