It already is a huge hit with the cozy gaming community! A lot of my friends are getting into it as well, even ones I didn't really expect to play it. It just goes to show that they took the best of alot of the games we know & love in the same realm as it & put it all into one amazing game. I knew I was gonna get super addicted to it, but that was 2 years ago during my first alpha testing for it. 2 years later...yeah that addiction grew so much more!
Yes! Love to hear that! I think that as long as the devs keep supporting Palia with occasional new content and a changing shop to keep revenue flowing, Palia will be active for years to come. 💙

I even heard a rumor amongst the community that over time they may even expand the world of Palia into other zones than what is available right now & that further excites me. Not going to get my hopes up, but I think it would be great as it expands the lore around Palia & its people, not to mention all the potential new resources for crafting!

This is really good - wish I had watched something like this before, it would have saved me quite some confusion. I have played about 60 hours now, and I'm just starting to get my bearings.
@@BuckeyeBunny Yes! You can go both ways 24/7 😊 I honestly wish there was a secret passage that's brings us to the other map. Tip: Regarding Zeki, in case people didn't know, he's selling "special" items at night when clicking on the underground cash register.
You can enter the underground area before getting the key from Zeki. The key just let's you move between that and his village shop. If you want to move from the store to the underground you have to interact with the book in the bookshelf in the basement.
I like cozy, and I respect there being no combat, but I wish they at least had a cave with different tiers where you can go monster hunting…like in SDV. Just something small to add a different gameplay loop
Don't count it completely out. What S6 has delivered is what they were able to accomplish while building up a team and tech while trying to successfully launch their first MMO. As long as the game succeeds financially, they'll be able to open up the world and lore for us to explore the world of Palia in more ways than they were able to up until now.

I like and play both. Games with in-game shops are usually more up-to-date and offer further development. They keep you in the game and I like that. I also like to buy DLC for games. But the pricing has to be right. In The Sims, for example, it's no longer right, but in Palia it's been wrong from the start, which isn't a bad thing as long as the shop only sells outfits and not game-changing items.
Most paid games also have in game shops as well these days so I don't mind a free game with a cosmetics store. I'm not going to kid myself and say I'm not going to spend a bunch of money to look good in whatever I play. lol
@@Atomality They have confirmed that nothing in the in-game store will be game changing in anyway, purely cosmetic only and they will all stay on the store, even new ones and very rarly will they be removed unless for specific reasons. And this make me feel a bit more comfortable with the store since this doesn't feel like something like fortnite or cs2.

I've played it for a few hours and like it so far. Only the shop prices (which are already discounted) are ridiculously high. If I pay as much for one outfit as for a whole game, I wonder what they were thinking. 1(!) outfit = 20 euros, the bundle with 3 similar outfits 50 euros (regular 75 euros). I'm normally an in-game buyer and would have no problem spending 5-10 euros now and then. But I haven't seen prices like that on any game yet. The prices in the Disney Dreamlight Valley Shop are a bargain in comparison. I think Palia's pricing is not well thought out or they don't want to earn anything from it. Fortunately, you don't have to buy, because the free outfits are also very nice.
When you really think about other games being $60-$70 new then some even having a monthly sub fee for 5-20$ a month its really not bad for a FREE game to have somewhat expensive microtransactions, they need money somehow or else they game will shutdown and for most a game like this they can sink 100's of hours so it will at least be worth that 1 cool looking outfit or other stuff they release in the future in the store. It also has been stated they will never have any kind of pay 2 win aspects in the shop so at least people can't just spend a bunch of money to have any advantage.
I agree that the shop pricing is pretty steep and is right up there with Overwatch prices. For example, $49.99 buys 5,700 coins in Overwatch, and in Palia, $49.99 buys 5,350 coins. Fornite gives you 5,000 coins (v-bucks) for $31.99. All three of the games seem to have skins priced around 1,500 coins or so per skin. For a game like Palia that won't draw the competitive audience, I am surprised they are priced similarly to these big title games. I think Palia would see a lot more in-game purchases if they cut their prices in half (and follow the Walmart model of high quantity at a lower profit).
@@BuckeyeBunny I'm sure its cause some of the devs are old blizzard devs so they are used to selling things high but I would say with how good they look I don't really blame them it takes a good amount of time to design stuff like that. I could see people maybe buying more stuff if it was cheaper but you have games like Path of Exile and their outfit cosmetics are 40$+ and people still buy them some even over $100 and still get bought. If people enjoy the game a lot I don't think people will really care about price and more just buy something to support the game. Most AAA singleplayer games only last 10-20 hours and cost $60 yet a game like this you can easily rack up tons of hours so $20 for an outfit doesn't seem all that bad. I have almost 6k hours in Path of Exile and have spent around $300 on microtransactions, point is if a game is fun to play, keeps your attention and you play it a lot, its worth more than what a AAA title is.

My time at Portia + Stardew, with genshin graphic, even the map design was similar to first city Monstad and Liyue next, definitely got the vibe there, not complaining at all, it has all the check box checked out as typical cozy farming simulator, love it
Blue colored version of normal bugs can give you around 150-250 gold coins per bug. And you call sale your stuff for gold in Space Cat shop at any time. No need to wait when your delivery bin will be collected.

I've been playing a bit and have not used the fast travel horseshoes once yet. Coming from games like old school RuneScape gives me a different perspective on traveling and this map is not that big
Same. I mostly use the boards to travel to Bahari Bay when I'm all the way in Kilima Village. I'm too cheap to pay 50 gold to save a couple minutes of hiking. 😁

You can change it in your wardrobe (you're given one early on) at your house or in Bahari Bay there's a chest near Central Stables where you can change it. There may be other ways, but those are the two I use.
I don't have any inside scoop on that, but I assume they'll leave it running until early access and just make patches and continue updating it unless they have major issues. Shutting it down would mean a revenue loss, so it doesn't make sense. 🤷🏻♀️

Played a few hours but i still don't see what the hook is in this game. Looks like a big grind to me and it keeps reminding of My time in Portia/Sandrock only everything takes longer and i see other players teleporting around. Will give it another run but meh for now.

-The outfits are absurdly expensive -Player don't attack you, but they don't talk to you either -Every area looks the same -A lot of Breath of the Wild rip offs -Housing plot is kinda cool, but also kinda useless -Hardly any social aspect to the game -You can't use the furniture you work hard to build
I agree. I was hooked on Palia for a couple weeks and then grew bored of all the fetch quests. It's a pretty game with considerable promise, but for now, I'm on to other games.
Although they've been sending beta invites to those who just recently signed up, so it may be earlier. Nintendo Switch release planned for holiday 2023.
I did take the advice of another viewer and change to DirectX 11 and turn on dynamic resolution, and I haven't had it hitch at all today. We'll see. :)
@@BuckeyeBunny So the game was defaulting to DX12? if that is the case me then it will definitely put more stress on your hardware especially the CPU 😁 Sounds like they have more work to do on the DX12 side of the software engine.

I've heard others say that too...but this way, people who can't afford it can still play. Otherwise, people would complain about a game not being free. They have a multi million dollar budget with almost 100 developers…with some of the lead developers being ex Blizzard and ex Riot. I’d usually agree with you but I don’t think this game is in the same class as those abandonware games you’re referring to. This game also caters towards your typical stay at home mom who plays Facebook games or just anyone who likes cozy life sims with farming, which is actually a staggering amount of people, is coming to Switch as well, so I have a feeling it will at least be somewhat successful.

That could definitely be fun to add an option for PVE combat other than hunting for those who want it.

A tip for hunting is to aim for the body not the head. Easier to aim and improved chances of one shot even with makeshift bow and arrows.
Good tip! I do that when at close range, but when the animal is far away I aim for the head so hopefully it hits that or lower if I'm off.

I agree. I was hooked on Palia for a couple weeks and then grew bored of all the fetch quests. It's a pretty game with considerable promise, but for now, I'm on to other games.

Although they've been sending beta invites to those who just recently signed up, so it may be earlier. Nintendo Switch release planned for holiday 2023.

graphic hitching is on their end...they need to spend more time optimizing software.
I did take the advice of another viewer and change to DirectX 11 and turn on dynamic resolution, and I haven't had it hitch at all today. We'll see. :)
@@BuckeyeBunny So the game was defaulting to DX12? if that is the case me then it will definitely put more stress on your hardware especially the CPU 😁 Sounds like they have more work to do on the DX12 side of the software engine.
@@jeremyhouse129 Yes, I hadn't done anything to the DirectX settings until someone suggested DX11 and I saw it was set on DX12. It ran like butter for several hours on a busy Sunday in Palia today. Might have been the issue.

It doesn't work when at your house, but press the M key when in Kilima Village or Bahari Bay.

I've heard others say that too...but this way, people who can't afford it can still play. Otherwise, people would complain about a game not being free. I understand where you're coming from but am honestly curious what a better solution would be to provide funds for the devs to keep supporting the game. ❤

They have a multi million dollar budget with almost 100 developers…with some of the lead developers being ex Blizzard and ex Riot. I’d usually agree with you but I don’t think this game is in the same class as those abandonware games you’re referring to. This game also caters towards your typical stay at home mom who plays Facebook games or just anyone who likes cozy life sims with farming, which is actually a staggering amount of people, is coming to Switch as well, so I have a feeling it will at least be somewhat successful.
