Kevin Parker is one of the best artists of the last decade. There are not many who can do all this by them self. His music is the way pop should be, its magical. You really can see a development in his songs and he is a creative genius not only on the musical side. The cover arts and music videos are in a class of their own. Tame Impala really influenced me in the last years and brought me trough hard times. Looking forward to "The Slow Rush"
MIND MISCHIEF is my favourite Tame song, screaming the lyrics “Feels like my life is ready to blow” along with the slapping drums and rocking riff is quite therapeutic
My favorite Tame Impala track is “New Person, Same Old Mistakes” because I personally love how Parker describes the feeling of having to move forward, avoid life’s obstacles, and make necessary decisions, even if it means sacrificing your own worth for certain people. Also that guitar melody and the overall atmosphere on the track is insane.
I actually discovered this band a month ago. The song "why won't they talk to me" from their album Lonerism gave me an unspeakable feeling. It felt too close to home.
I remember finding him in 2015. I repeated his albums almost none stop. He's easily my favourite artist. I wish he'd go back to his psychedelic roots. I guess he's grown and enjoys the pop vibe more now.
The Slow Rush is going to cast itself as probably one of the biggest Tame Impala albums to date centered around something equally as universal as loneliness: the concept of time and coming to grips with it’s continual passage. I’m really excited for what Kevin has in store for this next album.
Opening track One More Year "do you remember we were standing here a year ago" Closing Track One More Hour "I'm with you and I can roll into another year"
“Yes, I’m Changing” from Currents. Incredibly mature track that like you said in the video, shows Kevin’s development as a person and how true his artistry is to who he is as a person.
Kevin Parker has been such a major presence in my life for the past 5 years. I find it hard to explain how I feel but its as if his music is my musical soulmate.
Posthumous forgiveness just hit harder for me than almost any track in the 2010s it just knocked me right on my ass and I would get lost it all three phases of it day after day.
@@kiroo4638 People can change a lot of the more superficial things about them and their strange habits and characteristics. Most cannot change their whole personality, but I dont think that is what KP meant.
My favourite Tame Impala song is off Lonerism, "Nothing That Has Happened So Far Has Been Anything That We Could Control" The track is as much of a lyrical expression of Kevin's tendency towards overthinking as it is auditory expression which makes it pleasantly coherent for me, making it a song I relate to. I appreciate how the lyrics reveal the idea that rationalisation leads to rationalisation which would lead to the dismissal of finding some decisive and active/participative resolution, for Kevin this was one of the core points of his "lonerism", something he had to shake off to feel better. The instrumental section of the song clearly shows Kevin's overthinking in a spectacular way, and it sends shivers right down my spine. To some extent I can get inside Kevin's head through the plethora of sounds you hear and there's always a new sound to discover. To me, this is the most stimulating song he has made, and if you ever wonder what overthinking would sound like, I would say it would sound like this song.
Currents is one of the only albums I’ve ever listened to that I click ‘Play’ and let t play from start to finish. Even the lil instrumental interludes are awesome. I can’t wait to see KP in Toronto this year for the first time ever
@@bauer444 Yeah I can listen to any of them, However I would argue that since Sun's Coming Up and Be Above it are songs designed to open and close an album they aren't really such a great listen on their own.
My favorite tame impala track is “Why won’t they talk to me?”, 1: because it’s a good ass song, but most importantly 2: because one night I got insanely drunk and I made a drunk playlist, I woke up the next morning and looked at what I had added. It was this song.....and only this song lmao. I got too drunk and wandered off because nobody was talking to me so I added that song because it just hit so hard hahaha
Favorite song definitely has to be "Why won't they talk to me?". As being a loner myself not only the song but the whole album transmits a lot of the same thoughts.
My favorite song is “it feels like we only go backwards” it’s first song that introduced me to Kevin. Although I don’t listen to him as much as I used to, I am interested to see what he does with this new record.
my favourite tame impala track is probably alter ego because it feels so slippery yet tightly constructed, the lyrics are just fantastic (especially "the only one who's really judging you us yourself" that one always gets to me) and whenever i listen to it, it feels really self-critical which i can relate to sometimes. great video btw :)
My favorite song from tame impala is definitely New Person, Same Old Mistakes. That bass synth just pulls me in and the rest of it makes me feel like I’m floating. So amazing
i love all of tame impalas songs but i mostly love “love/paranoia” because i relate to it a lot. but i love all of the content you put out and support everything you do. keep being great!
I still remember the first time I heard “Expectation” off of InnerSpeaker. My jaw dropped throughout the whole song. And then I say the music video and came to the conclusion that Kevin Parker is one of my favorite artists of all time. One of a kind.
im fairly new to tame impala having found the band a little over a year ago, but their music has quickly become very near and dear to me as theyve become my favorite group. the music is absolutely hypnotic and i find myself listening to individual songs over and over for hours on end without ever getting tired of them, such as recently with the release of borderline. although i adore almost every song from kevin, i think it has to be "the moment" from currents that takes my number one. the first time i listened to the song, i was just staring my senior year of high school and simultaneously excited for and dreading the end of that period of my life. the mesmerizing repetition of the lines "its getting closer", unsure of whether thats a positive or a negative, made me completely fall in love with the song as it perfectly captured what i was feeling at the time. all in all, i love this music and it hits me emotionally in a way almost no other group can
be above it is my favorite tame impala song i remember just feeling like i was at an extreme low in my life and just put on lonerism and closed my eyes and those first few notes combined with the whispering of “gotta be above it” made me feel at peace for a moment and that moment was held throughout the whole song and album. ever since i have been an avid game impala fan and love all their music can’t wait for the slow rush
Currents helped me through one of the most painful times of my life .. I never thought i'd be the kind of person to write that kind of thing, but, it did. And I am very thankful to Tame Impala for it... also I am a lifelong fan and cannot wait for the new album :)
I'm going through a whole video essay phase right now and I'm so glad I found your channel !! I love these in-depth analyses. This is one of the few channels that I can actually stand to watch (and love watching) 15+ minute videos from. Keep doing your thing! I'm here for it :-)
Half Glass Full of Wine, it being my first song by Tame Impala, is honestly my favorite. His music got me through a lot of tough times growing up, I've been able to relate to his music so much since I first heard him. He's on a different level mentally and spiritually it's beyond my own comprehension.
The song "nothing that has happened so far has been anything we could control" completely changed my life. It felt like the lyrics were saying exactly what I wasn't able to put into words and made me realize so many things....basically cured my depression
I’m a 29 year old black man living in Montreal. I grew up with rap and the usual, then in a high school discovered rock and it’s whole spectrum. Stuck to the whole hardcore vibe but it never really felt genuine. I never felt like I belonged and all these years I was just trying to fit in, be part of the conversation, until a couple years ago I kinda went on my own, isolated myself from everyone I knew. Was trying to understand, define and redefine myself.... til a couple months ago I discovered Tame Impala’s Innerspeaker and the rest of his discography... that music came at such a perfect time. Helped reflect on myself. See things in a different perspective. Made me enjoy the outside and nature...and that’s mostly because of his sound. The lyrics made sense after carefully listening but just his sound was enough to catch me. One love If anyone’s reading this, I love you
Damn this Video deserves more views. Not only because Kevin Parker is an amazing music, but also because of how you told us his story. Good job Volksgeist! And seeing that the video has under 10k views after I woke up today (watched it last night) makes me kinda sad. But watching your videos and knowing how much work you put in them is very inspiring, so thank you, Volksgeist. And I‘m sure you know that all hard work pays off. And You’re such a talented guy working so hard, I have no doubt you‘ll be successful in the future. Keep it up, Volksgeist!
My favorite song from Tame Impala has to be Endors Toi. I feel that song having dreamy synths at the start and then later on getting more disorted is pretty awesome. Short and sweet track from Tame Impala. Also can't forget the amazing drum track on that song.
Favourite song has to be 'It Is Not Meant To Be' from InnerSpeaker. As his first track intended for public release he set an incredible standard for his music, which he continues to transcend with every album
Been a fan of them forever; lonerism totally got me through 2013 and 2014, and it feels weird to see him everywhere now (saw them for my birthday in 2013 in Chicago, which was released as Live Versions-- best birthday present ever!) But as long as Kevin is happy and healthy, I am a loyal, happy and healthy fan!
I'm with you on that feeling... Seeing them in Milwaukee and Madison in '13/14... Those shows were special but its sweet that most everyone knows them now too. #TI4LIFE
Disciples is such a great song, and I genuinely think it's just the change from the audio quality change, and I haven't heard that often in tracks which makes it so special and different.
Best video about Kevin and Tame Impala. He’s my favorite “band” so I appreciate this immensely. My overall music taste is due to him. Phenomenal job my friend
my favorite Tame Impala song ever is Let It Happen. it feels like such a suiting name because when i listen i feel so enveloped by it and immersed in the song. and the fact that it’s seven minutes long makes it even better. it feels like you’re going through stages while listening to the song
My favorite tame impala song has to be why won’t they talk to me. I think it perfectly captures the teenage angst and loneliness that most of his music is based off of
I do think he will go back to a more guitar and drums centered sound. Eventually, lol. I just don't see him playing the same type of music for too long. Maybe next album.
Of course I have to go with 'The Less I Know The Better'. It blows me away that such an incredible sounding song can make me vibe so hard with the huge focus on the bass guitar and drum kit yet make me feel so overwhelmingly sad and isolated with the lyrics. Still blows me away today.
Endors toi . Such a beautiful song about such a simple thing “In the morning you'll find Real life was such a grind Off I go, day is done Where a new one's just begun”
when i got into tame impala i didnt know what i expected but i defenatly didnt expect discovering myslef and discovering my love for fuzzy and synth sounds, if not for tame impala i whouldnt be who i am right now
Loved the video. Gj. I really like your style of informative but interesting videos. They also are super high quality. Just amazin. Probably one of the youtubers i always wait for, making their next video.
Two parts of this comment. 1. Thank you for covering some artists and the art of music itself in the way that you do. It's refreshing yet at the same time it feels like it should. Homely. Like discussing it with a homie. Tame Impala, I fell in love with a few years ago. Never quite understood why no one could quite resonate with his music like me. So excited for what he's got next. 2. Just a show of appreciation for a little part of your video. And for something that's become somewhat of a characteristic of yours. The moments you repeat a line, and I have to catch myself to see if I tapped the screen by mistake. Genius. Love every one of your videos man. And I hope things are good. All the love man. All the love
I love videos like this because I come across a lot of critically acclaimed music that I can't get into. Usually, I just don't get it, I can't find an access point. But videos like this really introduce me to the material directly, so it's much easier to connect to. Thanks for helping me appreciate music.
Solitude is a bliss In my opinion is the music that started tame impala to mainstream audience because, it feels like tame impala itself but still keep the psychedelic feel in his music and i think it's the face of innerspeaker a song that can stand on itself.
my favorite song from Tame is The Moment. It hurts me that it is such an underrated song. I know in terms of composition it is not the brightest, but the mix of the amazing synths with such simplistic lyrics really does it for me. Amazing vid!⭐️💛
this makes me so happy. I have such a deep love for tame impala and seeing someone who shares that passion is incredible. and the fact that you see how tame impala for more than just the music, but as a representation of himself and his life... it's so true. thank you for this..
Apocalypse Dreams is my favorite song. The song that got me really into Tame and still gives me chills when blasting it in the car. Love the video and your insight on the evolution of Kevin Parker
Let It Happen is my favorite. It obviously was my first listen to Kevin’s newer sound and it was such an incredible piece of new disco-influence while maintaining his psych rock roots. The lyrics are simple yet meaningful. And the repeated tape in the middle is so incredibly trippy.
I've been to the Yallingup area... I can see how it can be an inspiring place, there sure is beautiful nature and the Western Australian sunsets over the Indian Ocean are magical, but I wouldn't call it a 'remote wilderness' as you say, there's bigger towns quite nearby.
Sample Text I live in Perth and it still feels like a big country town. It’s still amazing how people just know each other - and it’s small enough that you know everyone’s business. Yallingup is just surfer country.
My fave is Eventually. I love all the songs from Currents, but this one is unique for me. It just flows so good and I can feel Kevin's emotions. I LOVE IT
My favorite tame impala song is Eventually. The first time I heard it, the melody on the end of the song and the chord progression were very similar to a song I wanted to make but never finished. I heard eventually and I got goosebumps. When I saw them live I cried when they played that song
Tame Impala is the new generation of psychedelic music imo, its literally perfect for psychedelics. The slow rush + tame impala is a pure spiritual journey.
Please do a video on the "Everywhere at the end of Time" project by The Caretaker and thr album art that accompanies it. The history and work behind thr project is amazing.
My favourite track by Tame Impala at the moment is Endors Toi! Been slowly listening to their whole discography and this one stood out, their live performances of it add a whole new element to it as well would recommend it to anyone who loves a bit of Tame! I'd love to win the vinyls to listen to their albums throughout again! Amazing content by the way! Keen for what you have in store 😊🙏🏽
I’ve found a very new love for Kevin’s music. I only started actively listening since last summer, but he has easily rocketed to being one of my favorite artists. I think my favorite song of his has to be Powerlines, one of the B-Sides from Currents. I haven’t heard a song of his I don’t like, but there’s something about Powerlines that just captivated my entire soul. I’m a huge listener of deeply textured instrumental music, and this song hits every single not for me. The hazy synth melodies, the sweeping follies and noises, and the crisp punchy percussion elements. I put some headphones on and play this tune and I get transported to another dimension. Excellent video my dude✨

Off I go, day is done
Where a new one's just begun”
Would that be a 'dark side of the moon' reference?
when i got into tame impala i didnt know what i expected but i defenatly didnt expect discovering myslef and discovering my love for fuzzy and synth sounds, if not for tame impala i whouldnt be who i am right now

This is one of my new favourite videos on TH-cam. Great work.
Kevin Parker is a legend and I'm glad I'm a fan of his music.
Volksgeist is my favorite TH-cam content creator. Thanks a lot man 🙏🏾
Loved the video. Gj. I really like your style of informative but interesting videos. They also are super high quality. Just amazin. Probably one of the youtubers i always wait for, making their next video.
Nothing that has happened has been anything you can control is def my favorite tame impala song great video too man u deserve more recognition
I honestly cant wait for slow rush.your vid just help the hype level volk
Solitude is a bliss
In my opinion is the music that started tame impala to mainstream audience because, it feels like tame impala itself but still keep the psychedelic feel in his music and i think it's the face of innerspeaker a song that can stand on itself.
My favourite Tame Impala song is "New Person, Same Old Mistakes"
my favorite song from Tame is The Moment. It hurts me that it is such an underrated song. I know in terms of composition it is not the brightest, but the mix of the amazing synths with such simplistic lyrics really does it for me. Amazing vid!⭐️💛
Its kinda weird to see you talk, but its cool i like it, right on dude 🖖🏻
this makes me so happy. I have such a deep love for tame impala and seeing someone who shares that passion is incredible. and the fact that you see how tame impala for more than just the music, but as a representation of himself and his life... it's so true. thank you for this..
I’m sorry, but... ImpAHla
Apocalypse Dreams is my favorite song. The song that got me really into Tame and still gives me chills when blasting it in the car. Love the video and your insight on the evolution of Kevin Parker
“Tame Impaaala” ...... say it right broooooo
I listened to Lonerism every single day for like a month after my relationship ended. Changed me for the better
The only thing that bothers me is that them vinyls gonna warp man, keep the standing up!
My fave is Eventually. I love all the songs from Currents, but this one is unique for me. It just flows so good and I can feel Kevin's emotions. I LOVE IT
Sorry if I'm asking but you're gonna make a list of the best 2010's albums? :0
Captain Moondog only ones that matters
My favorite tame impala song is Eventually. The first time I heard it, the melody on the end of the song and the chord progression were very similar to a song I wanted to make but never finished.
I heard eventually and I got goosebumps.
When I saw them live I cried when they played that song
Kevin is the closest to a god you can get
Frank ocean
@@genesisosuna kevin's closer
He’s the closest to Jesus. The closest to god would be Jim Morrison

Tame Impala is the new generation of psychedelic music imo, its literally perfect for psychedelics.
The slow rush + tame impala is a pure spiritual journey.
What’s the background music at 18:24
How am I just now finding your channel?! Fantastic work my dude
Also listen to Pond and Gum
Ive been waiting for a TI video essay for over a year...thank you!!!!
Seriously, this is like my favorite video on tame impala, thank u for this awesome work
He doesn’t sound like John, he’s sounds more like George
Can you do a video on Khruangbin...and Mdou Moctar...
"Nothing that has happened so far has been anything we could control" is my favorite Tame Impala song.
Currents is one of the best album Ive ever heard. I hope The Slow Rush reach that amount quality and beauty.
i believe the transition we see from innerspeaker to lonerism to currents to slow rush is AMAZING to see
