I never gave "In Rainbows" that much of a chance. I had nothing against it but was too busy listening to other stuff. (Then again I was four years to the party on the excellent "The Bends".. saw the video for "Paranoid Android" and I was a fan for life, having gotten that in 1997)

The Bends is Spring (a new dawn, acustomization). Ok Computer is Autumn (Layered and varied as fallen fall leaves). Kid A is Winter (descending melodies deeper into darker depths, iced by beauty). In Rainbows is Summer (road songs sun-kissed to perfection) . At least to me.

Kid A: a depression put into music perfectly without even talking about depression. It's the feeling, the vibe you get from it that makes it so powerful and depressing but also beautiful and hopeful in a way by showing that you're not struggling alone and that you can rise from your own ashes by just saying fuck it and being who you really are

When I first listened to Radiohead's Kid A. It was a journey, so beautifully made, having excitement and calm all rolled into one. It was such a trip listening to the calm first 3 tracks then go into the "in your face" "The National Anthem. And the rest of the album was equally rewarding. Thanks for this vid!

Kid A was jarring, cracked the door but damn it sunk in where Ok left off. Amnesiac that followed took years of unease and beauty. I kept having to Stop. Start. Stop and age into it like I’ve never had with an album. I don’t know what it’s about, only how I feel when I listen to it. It use to scare me, now it’s comforting.
I first heard OK Computer on the way to an 11th Daydream concert at the Double Door in 97’ -I was stopped in my shoes. My life was unraveling as I was getting the first onset of a disease that would shape the next 25 years of my life to this day. I just got my first vaccine shot. It has nearly put me under. What a trip....fight to live another day and play the perfect chord.

THanks for sharing - I recently did an analysis of music from 1950-Current, This time period in 2000 marked a major shift in music - almost all top singles are sampled based or electronic. For this album, Radiohead really broke apart the 'rules' of rock music and electronic music. To me it feels like later Classical and Jazz eras where we go from melodic and chord driven music to total avant-garde. This is where the tide turns and the next 20 years that follow we see a crippled music industry with the introduction of piracy/streaming services and Clear Channel controlled radio playlists - This new ere of corporate music lack talents and substance and most singles have a staying power of months, if not weeks - nothing anyone wants to listen to 10-30 years later like music from 50s-90s. What Comes after post-modernism in music? Meta-Modernism?

God. I was 20 when Kid A came out.
Really all the perspective you need is in their film “meeting people is easy,” which is a Grant Gee film that covers the OKC tour. That movie shows the truth better than any online blog speculation.
Hell there’s a scene with Thom Johnny and Ed backstage and Thom is ardently trying to break up the band. “I just think we should get out while the getting’s good.”
That film is incredible. Hell I would say to watch it just to see the amazing crazy version of Big Boots, (not Man Of War which was recorded during the bends era).

Obviously Thom and the band have gone to the point of being famous rock stars leading them to their new perspective to write Kid A, I think Thom would have still written an album similar or exact to Kid A even if he never made it that big, he must have had that perspective all along due to his past records about society in general, and would have changed his sound either way not just to make a statement, but because him and the band are too curious and creative musicians

To anyone wondering what the first song is, shazam says it's Thoughts - Mohdlutfii, but I can't listen to it because it's unavailable for me so I don't know
Edit: nevermind they all come from redMOSK

The band missed a huge opportunity to release a 20th anniversary edition of KID A with bonus tracks. The OK COMPUTER 20th set was so well done. I wonder why they didn't celebrate Kid A the same way?

@@ethanhester2603 I love the b-sides from Amnesiac they might be my favorite of all their b-sides which is saying a lot because they have a lot of them more than any band I ever listened to.
