I loved seeing the process you went through, "mistakes" and all. It's helpful to see that everyone goes through the difficulty of the piece they're making not looking like the image in their head, and also how sometimes what is needed is to take a breather and come back fresh. Thank you for sharing this with us!

I appreciate your authenticity so much! It’s so easy to see someone’s finished work and compare your unfinished, still-in-process project and think it’s not good enough. Bringing us in on your journey of creating is so helpful for me to remember to keep going and to keep trying until I am happy with my work. THANK YOU!! ❤

Some acrylic tips from someone who uses them semi-regularly! Also these flowers turned out beautifully 12/10
-Peel-clean palettes are amazing and cheap and you really do just peel the dried acrylic off. HOWEVER. Wax paper will also do the trick, especially taped in place overtop your piece of board there.
-Extra gesso is your friend. Pre-primed canvases are really great, but the gesso layer is VERY thin. I've personally found that rolling on an extra layer helps things stick a bit better
-Try some absolutely WILD background tints!! Complementary, greyscale, neon, even black!
-VARNISH IS WORTH YOUR MONEY. Let everything completely dry and then roll your varnish on overtop. It'll protect the piece and help it last!

Amazing! I'm so needed to see this today. I'm in that struggle place trying to get my painting to look like what my brain is seeing as well. So it was refreshing and inspiring to see how you worked through the process! I had no idea there were that many layers on the Mona Lisa. All of this helped me to take a deep breath and relax. Thank you so much for being brave and sharing this with us! I do have one question can you paint over canvas with watercolor ground and then treat the canvas like it watercolor paper? I have a few canvases I found in my kids art box that never got used so I'm curious. ❤❤

I always love how real and honest you are, Shayda and your amazing tutorials! I used to learn acrylic painting and couldn't continue due to crazy work life for some years, and I always wanted to try watercolor painting coz I love colors a lot. You have been my inspiration and guide. I've been doing some holidays arts and crafts inspired by you! It is so true that all nice looking arts videoes look so effortless but it actually takes 2 - 3 times of practice in reality to create something nice in your own way. You tutorial makes me feel I'm not alone LOL and it's certainly a good example about overcoming fears and keep it going when working on a painting. Bravo Shayda as always! The antique-like frame just goes so well with your lovely painting! Brilliant!

That was amazing for your first acrylic piece in 20 years! I liked what you did with sketching and tracing etc first, I never even thought of doing that - makes so much sense. Also, the visibility of the brush strokes in the painting that you wanted, I think the word you were looking for was 'expressive', because that's what painting really is, it's the artist's self-expression.
