    I have officially re committed to the journey. I trained for 2 years, stopped for two years, and am 4 classes and an open mat back in baby! Best shape of my life at 46. You do a great job on your content. I really appreciate the time and effort. And your jujitsu game is fire dude. I would love a chance to roll with you so you can amaze me while kicking my ass:)

    • @brandondillman5848
      @brandondillman5848 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Head outside is more risk for guillotines, but it’s essential to maximize your force on a blast double, and useful as a lever on some variations of a single leg. It’s a risk vs reward thing.

    • @jamosensei
      @jamosensei 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hell, if someone makes the mistake of tucking in their chin when going to the outside, even a crappy guillotine can be sufficient, right?...or that attacker sets themselves up for a self-imposed DDT (like Marr Kerr, who knocked himself out during his takedown in a PRIDE FC event).
      At least with a chin up one has a fighting chance.

    • @daredevil2724

    When people think of takedowns, they usually think wrestling (single leg, double leg) or judo (uchi mata, seoi nage). However, I just realized most sweeps from seated guard can also be considered 'takedowns' unique to BJJ.

    • @thecubeman381
      @thecubeman381 ปีที่แล้ว

      True. I mean, the Judo throw Tomo Nage is just a guard pull to balloon sweep in BJJ terminology, and in Sambo there's a throw that's a lot like a scissor sweep from guard called "Strigunok", I think

  • @chrislaid214

    The only way to Heaven is to be born again by saying out loud "Jesus is Lord" and believing in ur heart that God rose Him from the dead then you must live for Him, dont focus on not sinning bc thats self righteousness but instead focus on having more faith in Him and fear of the Lord and doing everything for Him hallelujah, i suggest getting baptized, repenting(asking for forgiveness of your sins and making a radical turn from ur sin), fasting (doesnt have to be from food), evangelizing(spreading the Gospel), praying, and reading the Bible. God and Jesus love all of you hmu with any questions have a good day God bless✝️❤️❤️ good works dont get u to Heaven God's grace does John 3:16

    Are BJJ takedowns better than Judo's? I know nothing but am thinking of starting my journey in martial arts. It seems to me that many Judo moves are not very useful for a situation where the other person isn't wearing a shirt, but given that I live in Canada, that's almost never the case lol.
    My intention isn't to go get into fights, especially given I've never been in a physical fight as an adult. I want to dedicate myself to a martial art in the context of self-defence, and the philosophy that is embodied in the martial art itself - not as a competitive sport (I'm too old at 40 anyway). I find that BJJ's philosophy is very appealing to me. While other martial arts seem violent to me, BJJ seems like a "peaceful" martial art, if that makes any sense. I really don't need to learn to break someone's face in half. I wouldn't want to do that to anyone. But I do need to learn how to diffuse a situation where someone wants to break mine though lol.
    But again, I know next to NOTHING, so anyone who reads this, please feel free to comment your opinion on what I just said.
    p.s Great video. Thanks for this awesome channel.

      knowing a variety of takedowns from bjj, wrestling, and judo is always best, all takedown styles can be really effective against untrained people even if you haven’t mastered them. the most important thing is to consider that any takedown you’d do in self defense is probably gonna be on concrete.
