What a wonderful sport. As someone who trains in both Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu I can safely say NEVER get this sport in the Olympics. Judo is a SHELL of it's former self thanks to the Olympics and I do not want to see BJJ get watered down as well. These are fantastic competitions to watch both live and on video!!!
Eh, lots of bs going on with the IJF for sure, but judo without leg grabs (or whatever it is that you're missing) is still much more exciting and higher level athletically than BJJ. A lot of BJJ is already watered down due to players gaming the ruleset with pulling guard, but there are young players coming up with more wrestling and judo fundamentals who challenge the "guard first" game. As for judo, some of the current rules are even an improvement on what used to be 15-30 years ago, although stalling and false attacks through leg grabs should be penalized better than just banning them wholesale. It's far from perfect, but more matches end in ippon now.
Can someone explain how mica scored 2 points? He settled passed the guard for only 1 second and he had a guillotine attempt. Both which makes sense give him 2 advantages. But when you pass the guard you get 3 points. Mica did not get a takedown or a sweep to score 2 points. I'm confused
To be honest, I'm confused too. But looking at what happened I see an explanation. When Andy goes to the turtle position, Mika has an advantage, after which Mika restarts in the guard trying a guillotine and continues the guillotine on top, characterizing a sweep.
Brother, I didn't understand either... In my opinion there was no point, just an advantage for offering a threat! But 2 points I don't think so!
Mika set the guillotine and pull guard, he threw his own back to the mat to invert the position to tight the pressure on the guillotine, but as before defending the guard passing, Andy was fast to not let Mika keep the position. But there is one detail very important: all positions must be held for 3 seconds to get the points, except pulling guard that is considered a movement, very different from keeping the guard position or also standing up, although being positions or movements they don't add any points. When athletes pull guard and instantly invert the position is already considered as sweep, even if they don't keep 3 seconds on guard position, they don't even have to close the guard, if they just sit down, or pull down the opponent bumping own butt, back or shoulders on the mat with legs towards opponent, or jumping to pull the guard when the opponent standing up are all movements considered pulling guard. That's Mike movement, very fast, but pulled the guard.
$4,000 as a minimum, $5,000 if there is 9-16 competitors, $6,000 if there is 17-32 competitors and $7,000 for 33 or more. This applies to both men and women's divisions. $10,000 for the winner of the absolute division. Have you heard of Google my friend?

Why did Mika get 2 points at around 9 minutes?
probably cause he passed guard to north-south at 8:50. People on the score counter were just a bit late
He passed the guard at 9:02 when he came on top with the guillotine.
Because the referees considered the entrance to the guillotine a guard pull. So when he came up , it was a sweep - 2 points.

Give us a fucking overtime. Win by less than 4 advantage is too close i say

That was not a sweep, those 2 points for Andy were a mistake

This type of clothing is not suitable for this sport. The players get too stuck. Need a tight fit.
Já tem o nogi exatamente para isso.
