One of the main things that annoyed me with this movie is that they still tried to hide whether Michael is supernatural or not. The film spends 90% of it's time showing people missing bullets, because if he gets shot he may get brutally injured and/or killed. Then right at the end (spoilers) he gets fucked up...just to get up again and shrug off like 7 bullets, 10 stab wounds, and still fuck up everyone.
I'm sorry but at this point he definitely is SUPERNATURAL! But instead of doubling down and showing him get shot in the head. They still technically just stabbed him in the back etc. (even though in real life he'd be absolutely fucking dead).
At this point I want a Jason esc Michael. Might as well throw all your cards down if you're gonna get this stupid.

"One of the main things that annoyed me with this movie is that they still tried to hide whether Michael is supernatural or not.
(then you must hate the original since the point is its supposed to be unclear)
The film spends 90% of it's time showing people missing bullets, because if he gets shot he may get brutally injured and/or killed.
(like most villians and heroes in most movies? you must hate most movies.
i mean we already know its a 3 part story and this is part 2, how smart is it to expect him to be killed?)
Then right at the end (spoilers) he gets fucked up...just to get up again and shrug off like 7 bullets, 10 stab wounds, and still fuck up everyone.
(well people survive that kind of stuff in real life, how dare a movie viliian survive it huh?)
I'm sorry but at this point he definitely is SUPERNATURAL! But instead of doubling down and showing him get shot in the head.
(he isnt supernatural and even if he was, the point is that its not supposed to be revealed.
have you ever saw the original? besides, Black Mamba got shot in the head in Kill Bill, i guess she is SUPERNATURAL since she survived, got back up and killed 50 people)
They still technically just stabbed him in the back etc. (even though in real life he'd be absolutely fucking dead).
At this point I want a Jason esc Michael. Might as well throw all your cards down if you're gonna get this stupid.
Here's a little more real life information:
A woman named Alison Botha was raped, beaten, stabbed countless times, throat slashed, nearly decaoitated and disembowled. this happened in south africa in 1994.
She got up, held in her guts and her head, made it to the road, found help and now is a famous author.
just here in Philly, a teenage guy was shot over 15 times, he is still alive and well.
another man, shot 20 times, got up, walked two miles to a hospital, he's alive and breathing today.
its funny to see how much people dont know about the real world we live in.
here's the nail in the coffin: if Michael was supernatural, he couldve just "poofed1" himself out of the fire.
but instead he had to think his way out like a human being.
smart enough to know a fire brings firefighters so he hid away from the flames until the opportunity
      comes to escape.
yall be doing everything but thinking lol

Even if there's a supernatural force behind Michael, the movie exists in a world like ours. Can a psychiatrist explain how a 6-year-old would get the desire to stab his sister? Loomis tried. There's definitely no scientific explanation for how Michael has been able to withstand, well...everything! I don't think it was ever tested in-universe and I don't think a team of University scientists analyzing his blood in a laboratory would be all that interesting to watch on screen. Nor would a plot centering on a group of military strategists lead by an Air Force captain who happened to grow up in Haddonfield, returning home to repel down the side of the Meyers house with his team to blow Michael away. I think another horror franchise tried that and it didn't turn out so great. The central question of the Hallow-verse is how do people like us deal with a thing that appears human but clearly is not? Against such a man/force, you or I would fare no better.
... Unless you had that US Air Force Special Air Rescue Squadron that I mentioned and you did come in with a group of guerrilla fighters. But then that's a that's a whole different type of movie.

*Dude hears his friend screaming for help. Goes into the room where he hears his friend. Dude flips friends face over and sees that friend has his eyes ripped out. Michael appears from the shadows and closes the door.
*Lady is hiding in a closet while Michael looks for her. Eventually it seems like Michael has given up. But then she smells smoke. The house is aflame. She tries to escape but flames and flipped sofas block all but one exit and Michael is just standing there outside.

This movie was so fucking bad, in every way. The dialogue was bad, the characters were bad, the story was bad. None of it made sense, the side plot with the mob was awful.
It should’ve ended with Karen looking out michaels window and seeing him like across the street watching her or something and realising he’s still alive, instead we get the stupid ending we got, how did he get back in the house with no one seeing? Why did she even go up there? It made me laugh as well when the couple dressed as a cop and nurse, his wife must’ve hated him, she told him to go look in the car when she thought Michael was in it, and when Mike is on top of the car she just dips for a solid two minutes whilst he attacks the car and her husband when she had a gun, she had to run back to the car to finally help; where did she go? Jamie lee don’t do another.

Note: I am hugely biased towards the film so I might be more apologetic.
I honestly feel like Kills is in fact Michael’s movie. The film just lingers on him and you see the almost child like nature to how he approaches his kills. The scene where he’s sticking knives into the already dead man’s back. Just to see which knife is better really shines a light on his nature while still keeping his character ambiguous.
I understand Korey and Martin’s dislike for the film but I left really entertained. I like how the film does mystify Michael but in a way that the characters can’t really comprehend. While it is a bit redundant how they keep saying he is evil personified it really does feel like that is why Michael actually is though.
Maybe I’m being too forgiving to the film but I overall felt like it was a lot of fun and a good little bit of a character study on Michael. But like I said, I’m pretty bias.

For me tho, the whole movie wasn’t that bad. I treated it like I think they wanted me to - an extension of the last one. Its like the Empire Strikes Back of the new trilogy. Looking back on it, I feel like the emphasis on some of the people’s stupidity was to highlight the fact that anger and outrage can cloud your better judgment. Tommy riled up that mob because he was more pissed off out of everyone and folks were taking arms because he was going around telling them to. Meanwhile no one was listening to the actual survivors (Karen and Laurie) and got killed for it. They say Michael infects the town with fear and everyone reacted out of fear. The movie was actually good in that regard. It reminded me of when the mob in Nightmare on Elm St. set out to burn Freddy Krueger and paid for it with their children’s lives.

Then we turn around and love to point out those same contrivances in horror movies like we think we're smart. Sometimes I think we're all watching movies wrong.

    • @uchidaoginome

They don't know he's a supernatural force...WE know that! And when people are scared, unsure of what they're looking for and mobbed up they do things that are illogical. Just like that scene in the hospital, the mob mentality takes over. Fear takes over. I'm not defending every action taken by every character but filmmakers have to be allowed the room to contrive sticky situations for our protagonists. For heist movies and thrillers, those situations usually allow a lot more time for main characters to think it through and consider how to get out. Ocean's 11 for instance is about a group of guys who get together over the course of a few weeks to plan an elaborate ruse to steal money from a casino. They have more time to be clever. Take that situation, empty out the casino, cut most of the power in the building, make Andy Garcia about 6 inches taller, muscular and endow him worth a limited amount of superhuman strength and a desire to inspire fear in Clooney & Co. before he kills them. Now send those 12 guys into that darkened building! What do you write around that situation? Do they march hand on the shoulder of the guy in front of them that way soldiers do when they enter a building, with makeshift weapons, 6 assigned to check for activity on the left while the other six check right and they all agree at the start to listen to the leader? Might work if they all choose to go there. Now what if they don't know one another and happened to find their way there for different reasons? Maybe 2 wanted the money, 4 of them were in a car that broke down, 3 are casino employees and the last 4 are just casino patrons that don't even know each other. Drop in Andy Garcia in a William Shatner mask possessed by an evil spirit that makes him want nothing more than to stab, beat, eviscerate and impale as many people as possible. Do you expect them all to make the rational choice as a team. I'm sure there are ways to make everybody in the movie a bit more clever but we as an audience also have to stop thinking that just because we've read some high-minded film criticism by the likes of Pauline Kael, Susan Sontag and J. Hoberman, and and we know terms like, "eye line", "denouncement", "character development", "story arc" and "the one-third rule" that we are wholly above that other film criticism term, "suspension of disbelief".

I see why they gave it a Rental but I would give it a Matinee. Sometimes it felt intentional when people made dumb decisions. Everyday we stray further and further from the message of Cabin in the Woods.

Wasnt the message about US the audience being the ancient ones who crave the bloodshed? If so, great observation! As far as im concerned, there is no such thing as TOO MANY kills when i see this film tomorrow

Once you start explaining why Michael does what he does it misses the point of the character, John Carpenter's vision, and the scariness goes away. 2007 tried to do that and it backfired.

I rolled my eyes so many times. I didn’t care if people died at all and then at one point I was just painfully aware of what a bad movie it was as a whole. I went from “haha look at those idiots” to “Why am I wasting my time watching this?”

He does because Michael Myers is a killer shark. In baggy ass overalls who gets his kicks from killing everyone and everything he comes across.
