This movie's opening is a lesson in how to make a simple situation, like Black Friday, so intense even before all hell breaks loose. I remember being on the edge of my seat even before all the people rushed into the store.
First rule of screenwriting: The character that says "Don't trust anyone" is almost always the villain. If anyone says it to you in real life, get ready to run.
Was one of the 600 outside and 200. I walked away from this set with bruises, but my god, I would do it again. The best was the practical door when it came down on doug and watching the woman get scalped to death. Seeing the stuff live was absolutely the coolest part and made the four nights on set amazing. What was also fun was that between takes and on break, we all went shopping as the manager of the store had to be therr for security reasons, so he just opened the till. This review made me so happy because I absolutely loved being apart of it and i think this film deserves all the praise and love it can get!

This movie was a surprising treat. Felt like a throwback to late 90s/early 2000s slashers. I love artsy horror, but I really miss "fun" horror movies like this.
You need a good balance! A lot of those artsy flicks are very shallow, cheap imitations of the artsy classics, whilst a lot of modern attempts "fun" ones are just sadistic, mean spirited gore-fests. This film hits the sweet spot. Personally I'm waiting for a resurgence in giallo inspired flicks!
i got a lot of 80s slasher vibes from it. the love triangle was like my bloody valentine 81 and the dinner carver stages was like the end of happy birthday to me.
@@thedevilsrockstxr2309 You know the artsy classics are quite literally the opposite of those 80s slashers, right? Horror exists more than 80s B-movies. For those like me who are just a little too curious, yes you could in theory buy that oven in a police evidence auction. Based on it being used in a high profile case and the obvious ethical concerns, it's not likely. Most likely it would be scrapped or put on display. And if you make food for public consumption, you're not legally obligated to tell anyone what else was made in the oven. As long as you clean it out and make sure it's not haunted, you're good to go.
Tim Miller, the director of the first Deadpool and Terminator: Dark Fate did those reshoots and edited the movie from R rating to a watered down PG-13. No wonder how that trainwreck turned out
@DodoRibeiro-ts6po Tim Miller, the director of Deadpool and the first hard-R Terminator movie since 1991, edited a movie down to a PG-13? The hell? I know Rise of the Machines was R, but it was basically a PG-13.
Had the absolute joy of seeing this in theaters last year. By far one of the best movie experiences I’ve had in a very long time. I genuinely feel bad for the people who didn’t get to experience this the way my mother and I did!
I didn't, it was the year before I started watching horror movies in theaters, since then I have now seen Lisa Frankenstein, Abigail, Longlegs, Cuckoo, Alien: Romulus, Never Let Go, Terrifier 3, and Smile 2 with Abigail, Alien: Romulus, and Smile 2 being the best experiences
@@_PuppetMaster86FYI I never said Slotherhouse was any good or that I enjoyed it I simply listed it. But yes, there are better slashers recently, I just think it’s fun to watch.
Killing people left, right, and center because one of the casualties of the Black Friday fiasco was your lover and her unborn child? In Eric's case, it's true what they say: love can make people do crazy things. Especially if the "crazy things" happens to be revenge.

On the other hand he's also targetting people who were just in the crossfire of the whole thing and didn't have a hand in Amanda's death.
Just watched this movie with my dad. Great bonding moment and excellent way to start off the holiday. Now here for the kill count! Happy thanksgiving to James, Chelsea, and all of the Dead Meat crew!
Happy Thankskillin Everyone
Now don't trigger James' PTSD
Right back at ya. Happy Thankskillin.
@@maxkproductionsthere arent many artsy classics, the 80s every franchise is trash after 2 or 3 movies, revisionist history goes crazy
@@thedevilsrockstxr2309 You know the artsy classics are quite literally the opposite of those 80s slashers, right? Horror exists more than 80s B-movies. Arthouse classics include The Shining, Suspiria, Hausu, Ringu, possibly Exorcist 1 and 3, Cure (1997), Pulse (2001), The Wicker Man, Hour Of The Wolf etc.
@@maxkproductionsI wouldn't put the shining in there and I don't think any of those can touch Hereditary, Beau is Afraid, Nope, they just get grace cuz they're old but u are right....I just despise 80s horror bcuz it's a lot of trash but folks act like it was a golden era....like give me It Follows over The Shining anyday
I remember watching The House with the clock in its walls in Theaters. It was the first time I've ever watched something in theaters. When I saw this movie, I loved it instantly. Great work James and crew! Keep up the good work and enjoy the holidays!
I love the 'couldn't have done this without you' line! Yay for subtext!

"AYE!! TELL ME WHAT YOUR THANKFUL FOR OR NO FOOD!!" 😂 Sounds like my mom and nana back in the day on Thanksgiving😂
6:22 Does anyone else remember this guy from that series "Creeped Out"? he's the boy from the gaming episode, that series was so good
Oooh that's why they seemed familiar, I also love that series
Underrated show
9:17 WHAT THE F*CK BRO 😂
Kinda explains why he got such a brutal death
"Kill Count is Served"
The bubble pfp looks awesome
6:51 “Nice”
Please do Cabin Fever! It’s by far Roth’s best movie and a hilarious horror-comedy!
15:21 I got an ad with Goku wearing sunglasses at night in Paris.
For some reason I got an ad talking about how someone was in P Diddy’s party bro at the same time
Mine was the Australian open
Mine was the entire Lego movie(I'm not joking)
I love how every thanksgiving episode has a more comedic side to it! I still think about the thanks killing vfx you guys did when I need a laugh!
So, since we’re doing Thanksgiving now, can we do the musical Black Friday next?
He's not, no.
No
For those like me who are just a little too curious, yes you could in theory buy that oven in a police evidence auction.
"make sure it's not haunted" 🤣
At first, I thought a horror movie about Thanksgiving would be corny.
Then I realized the pun I made.
😂
This is my personal favorite of Eli Roth's work. I'm glad he made this instead of doing the dead on arrival Borderlands reshoots
11:24 I can't believe you didn't mention the '50% off' sign next to her body, Great dark comedy there
Had the absolute joy of seeing this in theaters last year.
Rest In Peace Sunny Starscout, You were always the alicorn

"Thanksgiving"(2023) is a good enough Slasher movie!
Literally just watched this last night. By far the best slasher I’ve seen since Slotherhouse.
Cap
That's a pretty low bar for slashers (which I know there’s better released in the last three years).
@@_PuppetMaster86FYI I never said Slotherhouse was any good or that I enjoyed it I simply listed it. But yes, there are better slashers recently, I just think it’s fun to watch.
@@zackfarkhondeh6853u literally said best I seen since....meaning tht Slotherhouse would be the last best movie...like wht
@@zackfarkhondeh6853Actually, your wording indicates that Slotherhouse was the last best slasher that you watched.
28:11 Children of the Corn Kill Count
HELL THE FUCK YES
8:37 TITLE CARDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
This movie is a lot better than it had any right to be. Such a fun time.
Killing people left, right, and center because one of the casualties of the Black Friday fiasco was your lover and her unborn child? In Eric's case, it's true what they say: love can make people do crazy things. Especially if the "crazy things" happens to be revenge.
The most unrealistic part of this movie was it trying to convince me that visibly 60-year-old Gina Gershon could still get pregnant
To be fair, some people do hit menopause late. It’s possible for someone to still be fertile at 60, though it would almost certainly be a higher-risk pregnancy.
Gobble Gobble everyone!! Also thank goodness James didn’t have to do another Thankskilling🥲
Luckily, there isn't one....
Been waiting almost 2 years for this😭😭😭 thank u James and the dead meat team for covering this
How? The movie released last year
Same here McFly
BRO SAME!!
I'm so happy that you're covering this now. This is my favorite horror movie, and I love seeing videos of this movie!!
I went to see this movie with my dad for thanksgiving and it was such a good experience, I’m so glad your kill counting this
Ah yes. The second Thanksgiving film that's essential for the holiday now. Alongside Planes Trains and Automobiles.
You have good taste.
@rodian_skypyratz6181 Thank you. I love good holiday movies.
Nah man you forgot the third and fourth, ThanksKilling and Blood Rage
@ Oh, yes, of course.
This man hasn't heard of the movie where they GO BACK IN TIME TO THE FIRST THANKSGIVING TO GET TURKEYS OFF THE MENU.
That's right, they GO BACK IN TIME TO THE FIRST THANKSGIVING TO GET TURKEYS! OFF! THE MENU!
This is Without a Doubt, Eli Roth’s Best Movie 🦃
Happy thanksgiving
27:00 the face chelsea gives james like "this is my baby now"
Today's Thanksgiving so Happy Thanksgiving dead meat crew and also I'm watching this video twice today on Thanksgiving so I'll say it again twice Happy Thanksgiving dead meat crew.
I feel like John carver could’ve been scarier if we started the movie without showing him during kills and showing a carver POV or something
NGL, a slasher movie POV kill sounds totally brutal, but awesome
That's lame though. Slasher films are supposed to be flashy not scary.

Ty Olsson is one of my favorite Supernatural Side Characters. Also, his and DJ's love story makes my heart go squish!

Fun fact: there is a website that counts and reports on any death or injuries during black friday sales. Its called the black friday death count and wr havent had a death or injury since 2021 so we are getting better
Happy Thanksgiving, Dead Meat crew. Fun Fact: Ty Olsson is also the voice of Ord in Dragon Tales.
