  • This is our Advanced Combat Tutorial Guide in Mortal Online 2. We explain some PVP mechanics that not everybody uses. In this video we go more in the depth of combat mechanics than in our Combat Basic Tutorial. Alot of friends helped me to make this guide for you. I for myself are not very good at pvp. But together we managed it to compress all important infos into a video.

    Something to consider: if you have a 12 button MMO mouse (1-12 on the mouse), try binding your attacks to those keys and I'm the menu, make sure [Directional Modifier Charges Attack] is checked. This way, your camera movement in no way affects your attack swing. I have 7,8,9 and 11 on my mouse bound to left, overhead, right, and stab, respectively.

    I recommend new players to bind Overhead on Q, Walking/cancel Attack on E and Thrust attack on left Alt.
    The standard assignment of the walking / cancel attack button is bad, becuase you have problems to press shift for sprinting at the same time.

      If someone like to turn arround more often, i recommend to not run during the spin and start running after the turn, before you release the swing. Otherwise it´s hard to keep the poroper distance and it cost too much stamina.

    Is there a way to disable directional attacks using the mouse? I am used to chivalry 2 so left click does horizontal slashes while scroll wheel does both stab and overhead.

      You can set thrust attakc and overhead on a specific key and later you will be able to bind left and right swing to a key.

    You **Must place precise strikes at the precice distance to hit an enemy.
    Computer AI Mob: **Flails at you from 50 feet away and still hit.

    I'm really thinking of buying a key, it's coming along nicely. When will it be available on Steam?

      Yeah it will be on steam. Official real release is on dezember 2021. But right now at the end of march there will be persistance launch so no wipes ever after that. SO basicly we have release next month. But some feature missing but they are fast patching in. Look at the next patch note video coming up in around 3hours. And yeah the game is going nicely you can also check my cuity tours for the nice graphics and basic info. They also Patched in Magic today. MOre and more content is coming like MO1 had. but now everything feels better and looks better and plays better. xD
      Its worth it. I really suggest you to try it out.

      @@steretsjaaj2368 You will have more cpu problems than you would expect. xD but overall i also tried it with my 3770k it was possible with a 980ti in fullhd no problem.
      but 1080ti is alteast needed for 4k, and a decend processor. but i highly recommend some of the 30xx card from nvidia to run it fluent, and some of the 10xxx Intel Chips. Than it will be Beautifull and fluent even if 200 people run around. xD

      @@WolfszeitYT I have 1650S and was thinking of getting Ryzen 5 3600 and up my memory to 32gb, before I decide to get brand new rig maybe next year. Though atm, Bannerlord and Atilla run fine at semi-max settings.. but CPU I know, it's just too old

      ​@@steretsjaaj2368 Nice, im currently on a 3600x and a 1080ti for 4k, and its kinda okay, and fluent on min and middle even on high, but the thing is i wanna play in cinematic so i will upgrade to a 3080 maybe. I can Also run Bannerlord fluent on high grahics. On atilla i have some problems its around middle seetings and still sometimes falls under the 45fps mark were even gsync can't do much magic anymore.
      But yeah a ryzen 3600 is enough for mortal. xD

    Need a video describing how to craft 2handed swords etc etc. seems like I’m always needing another skill and I’ve already done so many books, there’s just always another lol

    Just a little bit of confidence boost so we can Pvp EU players. Thanks for the video. hopefully US players can at least last a little bit longer in fights, see the Servers are in London, So US people Ping alot more. its been an issue on this game for some time now. Thanks for the video. now i can last a little bit longer.. EU players are having a hard time trying to find players to pvp with. hopefully us players can Utilize this video so the servers are a little more populated :)

      @@NajwaLaylah I fought a lot of people from US. They can block my attacks successfully and have beaten me several times. SV really improved the combat between EU and US Players. You have some ms less time to block but it works. Look at the arms animation give you much more time to react. You can see in which direction the player is pulling his sword. Just don´t block too late when your opponent already release his swing. The Parrywindow to get your Counterattack is pretty long.

      ​@@kiddkudos5851 I think the fights between USA and EU are working suprisigly well. What is your ping Kudos ? I played and tested it against a canadian with over 150 ping, and he could block all of my fastest attacks. Maybe SV will do further adjustments and finetune the speed a bit. Try to give them some feedback, if you ahve problems. We can test it tomorrow in GK. What´s your ingame name ?

    This Is why games like this annoy me. It attempts realism then has combat tricks like this that totally ruin the realism. They need to implement something to fix this.

      I kind of agree. I also dont like the spinning of people and stuff it just looks silly. But sadly it works thats the problem.

      But what would you suggest, directional blocking is amazing and makes the game more skill based. It is after all a game, only so much they can do. We should appreciate how amazing the game actually is overall.

    why do you sprint before releasing the swring at 1:50 ?

      the sprint was ment for when you do the 360 and your opponent went back wich in this case he was you should sprint forward or double tap W to shorten the gap and hit unless you have a halbert or a spear for example because than its long enough xD maybe I will make an update video to this xD

      @@sehrgrossesglied5000 if you run while making a 360 spin you are not performing a spin but run in a circle arround your opponent.

      thats why I got help from my friends for the videos, who are pvp campions, Rhias and Zonsteel and the general.

    So wait, you’re telling me I should glitch the game to succeed in combat???? What a fucking joke. So I have to do a spin to be good in pvp??? Can you imagine seeing a knight spinning to hide his attack?? Fuck this is making me want to quit.

      Yeah I can understand I also hate the spinning but its still viable in high end pvp and that is also sad. that wired spinning is more effective than actual combat. But we must wait maybe it will get changed in the future.

      The pvp is more deep than you think because of the economy the crafting the uniquness of the items and meaning behind conflicts. Its much better than Mordhau becuase it actual have meaning and much more on the line if sieges or fight occur.

      @@WolfszeitYT You're conflating the game's economy/crafting system which leads to unique items and completely irrelevant RP elements with the deepness of the combat system itself (the actual combat mechanics), which I believe is what dayne was trying to make a point about. This is a problem that many games have been suffering from for years now, and is one of the reasons they all die out fairly quickly. Too much focus on aspects surrounding combat, and too little attention put into the actual combat system itself. Devs (in general) have been focusing more on the details surrounding combat rather than making the actual combat mechanics good.
      @dayne, I think Mordhau did quite a few things right, definitely managing to make a mechanically superior version of Chivalry, but I think Mordhau opting to go with Chivalry's omnidirectional, purely timing based blocks instead of an actual directional blocking system to make use of it's 6 attack directions was a mistake. Mordhau would have been way more interesting mechanically if it had 6 attack directions and 6 corresponding block directions. The combat system would have been more engaging, had a higher skill ceiling and it would have still felt intuitive. I would say that Last Oasis managed to make a pretty simple and fun, yet still challenging combat system with only 3 attack and block directions, with the addition of the "fluid blocking" system being a nice touch. Mordhau fell for what I would call the "timing based blocking pit trap", which leads to high level players just turning to extreme visual animation abuses (extreme swing manipulation) to force their opponents to waste their block so that they can then proceed to get a free hit in afterwards, which is something that isn't as big of a problem in a game that has directional blocking that allows for held blocks. Unfortunately for Mordhau, if it added held blocks, the game would become extremely boring, as having both omnidirectional and indefinitely held blocks would have absolutely no challenge to it. Between those two blocking systems though, I have to give directional blocking systems a clear win over purely timing based omnidirectional blocking systems. So I will give props to Mortal Online 2 for choosing the right blocking system at least.
      The problem I have with this game though, is that I look at it, then look back at Mount & Blade: Warband, and then I can't help but sit here and think to myself "How has it been 11 years since Warband was released, and no one has managed to make an overall better combat system?" Looking at Mortal Online 2's combat here, this literally just looks like 2011 Warband combat, but worse in every way.
      I understand the point you are trying to make about the crafting system and the "meaning" behind fights adding something special to the game, but it's just painful to see modern games having worse combat mechanics than decade old games.
      I'm curious though. If you (or anyone else out there) disagree with me, and believe that this game actually has an overall better combat system than Warband's, I would like to hear the reasons why. I've been looking for a game to replace the never ending joy I've gotten out of playing Warband for years, and I have not been able to find one yet. I'm willing to hear out anyone who can convince me that there is a combat system that is overall objectively better than Warband's (some subjective arguments are fine). Try to keep the combat system within the same niche genre please, I don't want to see anyone trying to convince me that Dragon Ball Xenoverse or Divinity Original Sin 2's "combat" is better than Warband's, when they aren't even remotely the same kind of combat. The combat style difference between the games shouldn't be greater than the difference between Warband and For Honor, as For Honor's combat is already stretching it a bit, as it plays out more like a "fighting" game than it does a conventional free roaming hack and slash/medieval combat simulator type of game. For example, reasonable comparable combat systems would be games like Chivalry, Mordhau, Tiger Knight, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Last Oasis, Skyrim, Conqueror's Blade, Gloria Victis, Blood of Steel, etc.

      @@FidelLagstro I agree. this combat is terrible and anybody new to it would rather quit than resort to its visual exploits and what ever fancy names they wish to call it.
      A more static hit recognition such as in Conquerors Blade would make the game far more accessible to larger audiences. New World would have stayed more popular if not for the terrible lag and latency from spamming its skills.

      @@HanTonyM The fact that the devs attracted new players with promises of immersive, deep world where you can do what you want and be what you want, only to find themselves in a glorified Mordhau where everything only leads to combat, and where Mounted Archers are so op there is no need to build anything else, is what will ultimately kill the game. That and the incredibly toxic fanbase from MO1 who want the game to remain the same 100 player wasteland that MO1 was.
