The Ad Council AIDS PSA was honestly a really good bait and switch, even if it’s a little difficult to take seriously.

To be fair a lot of pirated DVDs from 20 years ago did look that bad and sometimes worse. Some of the bootlegs were people using a camcorder to film the theater screen and many times you could see silhouettes of people moving to use the restroom or go the the concession stands. Comedy movies were pointless to buy bootlegs of because it meant one of two things. 1 The audio is ruined because of people in the theater laughing or 2. The audio is perfect because the movie isn't funny. And don't get me started on crying babies,burping,flatulence or popcorn munching.
Yes I have truama from buying pirated films from 2003.
The best case scenario are the people who bought or rented a legitimate copy and used a VCR to record the movie and then transfer the VHS to a DVD-R.
As someone who pirated a dvd once, i can confirm all of my friends left me and burned down my house.

Asthma being portrayed as someone stuck writhing in a straight jacket? Definitely not how I'd go about it. It's not full body paralysis, it's to do with breathing. Why not instead show someone struggling to breathe? Trying to pull a gag away from the nose and mouth or struggling through somewhere filled with smoke or dry ice (yeah, that stuff has triggered my asthma a few times before I even knew I had it) and trying to catch their breath as they cough?
This is a good collection of odd ass psas its a welcome change from the gloom and doom with some darkness
The Monster and Asthma psas actually freaked me out a bit. Thank you SO MUCH for constantly popping in and making snide remarks about them, it made them a lot easier to watch. 😅
If you do more bizarre psas, add be a real food lover

Update: There actually IS a lost unofficial Filipino film called "Batman Fights Dracula"! And in 2005, there was a direct-to-video film called "The Batman vs Dracula". So, I guess I got what I wanted!

6:11 - Ok, I can explain the title of this PSA.
#voteicecream, along with the other psas in the #vote/ugly truth series (yes, there are more) are part of a vote/contest/promotional campaign by truth on what is "the ugliest truth". For example, another psa in the series "#vote14years", has the factoid "In 1974, a tobacco company explored targeting customers as young as 14 years old."
...Basically it was like their outdoor ad campaigns but online.
And weaker.
(Oh, fyi, the winner of that poll was #votepoo. The fact? "Methane is found in dog poop and also in cigarette smoke."
Yeah.... like all kinds of poop. This fact beat out "137 people die of secondhand smoke" and "Urea can be found in cigarettes and cat pee".
#voteicream only got 20th.
....Yeah the downfall of truth really did start here. Along with the downfall of the PDFA, which was the psa that was first on this list! 2013 sucked for these guys.)

@@btetschner Ah yeah basically the message is to just be smarter about locking up your home
