The thing is the Danny Trejo PSA works on another way if you realize he actually spent large parts of his youth in and out of various prisons. Then one day he decided to clean up. He ended up running a chain of sober living homes, until a client was working on the set of Runaway Train. He mentioned the name of the guy who ran the chain of homes, and the director knew him from his prison days and knew he had been a boxer. So the director calls up the guy and asks him to be a boxing trainer on set, and eventually gives him a bit part. He decided he liked this "acting" thing and decided to do a little more. You could say he definitely did a little more.
PS--He has it in his contracts that if he plays a criminal, that character must be killed off because he doesn't want to glorify crime for Hispanic youth.
Walter White: "I'm the one who makes the psa...."
pffff 😂
I love the Danny Trejo one. We need that because in America there is a massive overbreeding problem and homeless animal population.
I love how for the Thrill Can Kill ones, they get Clint Eastwood to do one and he does it in typical Eastwood fashion, intimidating you to stay off drugs. Then, they just say “hey, who’s that Pee Wee Herman guy who did the nasty at an adult theater? We got a proposition for him”
Eastwood also did an ad for the same 'Take Pride In America' campaign as the ALF one, and also did it in typical Eastwood fashion. Of course, the difference was that one was to get people to stay off drugs...the other was to get people to protect public land in the US.
I mean think about, if a cheery, goofy character like Pee Wee Herman tells you that crack is bad and can kill you, then you know that info is important.
The Clint Eastwood one honestly was extremely effective to me.
There’s also a few other ones I thought I’d mention, which ofc have celebs
Torture by Any Other Name (Helen Bamber Foundation) featured Emma Thompson
Top Chef (WSIB) featured Dani Kind, known for her role as Anne Carlson in Workin Moms
“Julie Walters” (Fire Kills) ofc featuring Julie herself, who’s known for molly weasley in the Harry Potter movies.
you'd expect Iron Maiden to do a PSA during their peak in the 80s
Wow that was awesome to see more of those celebrities raising awareness about the topics they represent 😮
The Rowan Atkinson one sounds like Blackadder trying to get Baldrick to give blood.
The absolute shock and speed my head snapped back to my phone when i heard the Filipino Robocop psa lol
i'm sorry but bruh i thought i saw all the stroke psas but mcdreamy!? he's there? awesome and its funny too he played a doctor😄
I'm not sure about the other two, but the equal pay PSA didn't have Adam West as Batman. He was trying to distance himself from the character at the time, and Dirk Gautier played the role instead.
Jiminy Cricket Michael Jordan was about to put me to sleep with his slow ASMR voice.
The Muppets PSA I remember was from this same campaign and involved Kermit interviewing Mount Rushmore, which I’m surprised nobody talks about.
Here are other PSAs I would have added:
John Walsh-most any of the “Totally for Kids” PSAs, particularly the one where he straight out talks about sexual abuse
Donald Pleasance-The Spirit of Dark and Lonely Water
Any of the PSAs from the “One” campaign (like that one on Back to the Past’s list with all the celebrities snapping)
So many PSAs with celebrities who do voiceover work (I believe I’ve heard Christopher Eccleston, Geoffrey Rush, Alan Rickman, John Hurt, Helena Bonhomme Carter, Michael Gambon, and James MacAvoy)
Emma Thompson-Torture By Any Other Name
I was going to add Lonely Water but that shit is an instant copyright claim and I was going to add Torture by another name but I kind of forgot who the woman was in the PSA
But yeah I could have also added Faroe Islands since Anthony Hopkins narrates that as well
@@Zach.R I’ve noticed in previous videos you didn’t say her name, maybe because you didn’t recognize her. I’ve wanted to say, “Don’t you know that’s Emma Thompson? Shakespearean actress? Rom-com actress, Love Actually, Professor Trelawney and Nanny McPhee?” I think she had the best performance in a PSA. I mean, she had to assume two different personas in such a terrifying, vulnerable state, and she does it so well.
@@Zach.R Oh, Faroe Islands! I should’ve thought of that. Also, “The Censor.” I mean, some people count that as a PIF.
Been sharing that peewee clip for a minute lol love it🤣
The thrill can kill ones are great, certainly get the message across.
Great video as always Zach.
I can think of several PSAs with celebrities in them.
Movember Foundation ft Janice Griffith
SAAQ Road Safety PSA series with Canadian comedian Katherine Levac
NACME ft comedian Sinbad.
Women's Aid ft Keira Knightley
MDA ft the band KISS
Save The Children Philippines with Filipina actress Liza Soberano
New York State Department of Health ft Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop.
I could do this all day
This was honestly a pretty cool video, definitely havent seen all The Thrill Can Kill psas. Was kinda hoping to see the gun violence psa though with Samuel L Jackson, its always been a personal favorite of mine
This was a really good video! I'm interested to know what you think about the Crackhead Bob psa.
I just want to get really high now for some reason idk lolz 😅
Ay if it's legal in your country you do you
Cool Video like Always
I have never heard that sitting in the front seat of a car is bad at all why is that a thing? That’s so weird I guess it makes sense for babies. Do they also mean kids too?
Yeah well it's meant to be babies and young kids
I have a question. What are your thoughts on the Lonely Water pif? I honestly don't remember them.
My personal thoughts on it are gonna sound weird but I'll say it anyway: I don't find it scary. I actually think Donald's voice is soothing and could fall asleep to it, even if it's the pif. It also helps that nothing graphic is shown in it, at least to my memory.
So yeah, I'm weird, aren't I? But what did you think of it again?
I've talked about the PSA many times before but I really like it
@@Zach.R okay.
Donald’s voice is incredibly relaxing I 100% agree. I love how they didn’t use heavy gore/graphic elements but still made it very effective
The first one with Danny Trejo is weird to me, because it's so funny and goofy but the ending text just looks dramatic and serious
Still forgot the Michael Jackson ones my Neurodivergent but ain’t letting you forget it until you put em in one of your videos
Michael Jackson PSAs?
The ones that features his songs like this skeletons one which I have already brought up
@@joelngo9849 oh that really doesn't count then since the song was licensed for the PSA it isn't him doing something different for a psa
Just don’t forget to include it
well if adam west batman told me to then i guess i have to
Is that number music from the Michael Jackson Moonwalker game
Yes
29:27 Is that girl who sings torn?
Jdjdjfjf
Fair enough
