I usually only count fuel I've put in the car in order to actually fix the car etc and once its sale ready and I keep driving it I don't count that fuel as I'm choosing to drive it over others. And another thing is how do you go about dealing with logbooks assuming you arnt a registered trader, could be a interesting thing to include in a vid as i think it's something alot of people question when starting out.
Hi mate I appreciate it, yeah I don’t include fuel as I would spend it otherwise usually so that’s that, tax I pay direct debit and insurance i temporary insure it when I need it. @@mrc_dan_gleeball1515 I know you didn't ask me, but since I'm 23 the most recent car I did was a jaguar xj6 sport and temp cover was like 700 for a month or like 40 quid a day, So I ended up adding the car to my policy for the rest of its term (5 months left) that cost £1056 I had the car insured a total of 9 days before it was sold, cancelled the insurance and didn't have to pay a £45 cancellation fee because it was on the policy less than 14 days, so my total fees for insurance was a 20 quid paperwork fee and around £6 a day for insurance the rest was refunded so total insurance was £78 and it sold on the 30th so one month tax at £36.

Was the high mileage the killer for this? In my experience on flipping cars over the last 3 years, the public seem to have a mental block when a car is over 100k.
Hi, the videos are great, would love to give this a try but just wondering, what do you do about insurance as a young person? A 330d can't be cheap to insure; wouldn't this just eat into your profit? I'm 18 and really fancy trying this. What was insurance like for you? Was it temporary insurance? Thanks
The insurance has gone crazy, last year my insurance for personal e91 330d was £480 this year renewal was £1110 then £902 after haggling. I do add them for temporary insurance usually which costs around £60 for a month but this one cost barely anything that’s why i didn’t include it
330d some car guy will buy it. And they definitely will not pay good money. When you flip cars try to find something a woman would drive. Like suvs, mini coopers, polo etc. They usually don't negotiate much.
@Josh.Sanderson my top tip is the more moving parts in the engine, the less reliable, so diesel turbos are least reliable, most reliable nat aspirated petrol.
@@davidh4632 yeah not always true though as diesel is a lubricant so helps keep fuel system in good condition and they rev a lot lower, that’s why you see such high mileage diesels
@@Josh.Sanderson100% agree, especially for old diesels. It's mostly all the complex emissions controlls that's making people think diesels are unreliable. I'm not sure all these latest petrols (most of which do now have turbos) will do nearly as well as this 330d when they're 16 years old and 190k miles.
Yeah it will be interesting to see how these new petrols that are focussed so much on emission control turn out in ten years if theres any still around @@nmeister67
Hi buddy, It’s commendable how hard you’re working on this to do the job right. I’ve worked in the trade for many years and have racked up a fair amount of experience. I have some advice but please feel free to ignore it! You’re operating in the end of the market where margins are just too low because of the value of the car. If you can start looking closer to the 5k region you’ll start to realise bigger margins. This isn’t always the case but certainly is more likely. You need to look at more ‘bread and butter’ every day stock. While to a petrol head a 330d saloon seems like a great economical daily driver, it’s not what average punter joe bloggs wants. They want economy every day cars (fords, Vauxhalls, vws etc etc). Doing all of the work yourself is great, but time is money. The mechanical stuff can definitely save a lot of money and you should consider to do that yourself for now if it’s going to save a lot, however the detailing is a real pit of time (I’ve been there). While cars of this are and price can be ‘transformed’, by a polish etc the amount of time it takes is very prohibitive to efficiency. Punters really aren’t expecting a car of this age to be polished and compounded. If it was easy to do then I’d say crack on, but it’s just not unfortunately. Lastly, make sure you’re advertising in the right place. I know AutoTrader is expensive to advertise, but if it halfs the time it takes to sell then it’s paid for itself immediately. The difference between AutoTrader and eBay/Facebook etc is dramatic. Good luck bud and keep smashing it. Love the videos.
Thanks for the tips mate I really appreciate it mate, I’m in it now for the TH-cam more than the car flipping so I’ve been tempted to outsource the detailing but I figure people probably want to see it? Maybe I’ll try on the next one and see if it affects the views
@@Josh.Sanderson yeah very good point. I did meant I put at the bottom that you can probably throw out most of what I’ve said if the main aim is growing you’re channel haha. Either way I enjoy the vids mate and best of luck 🤟
i bought an antara for 5k less than two years ago. i cant even get 2k for it now. much better to deal with small cars. they sell like hot cakes and easier to work on
At 5:50 that's a waterproof membrane that needs to be sealed with butyl tape or equivalent as it will leak in the future otherwise. I'd always rather buy an honest car that has defects and problems than buy from a flipper/2nd hand dealer who has done the absolute minimum to a car. Then I can replace and fix things myself to my own standards with care
Another great video Josh, good to see all the hard work that goes into getting these cars ready forsale. Also has to be said good work on the videos and the editing thats a proper job in itself alongside the actual work that goes into the cars. I haven't seen but do you also have a day job?

Goes to show how ignorant some buyers can be,that 330d with the far, far superior legendary M57 engine married to the super rare 6 speed manual is a million miler if basic regular servicing is carried out and the swirl flaps/egr/dpf are binned, compared to the woeful chocolate all alloy, all electric expensive gimmicks N47/57 rear chain oil starvation with plasticine guides shameful LCI model (barring the rare LCI 335d that retained the M57 for a long time before BMW could get it right) is like chalk and cheese That car was 3k all day long. They stole it but hey, a profit is still a profit. £650 not to be sniffed at for a quick turnaround.
You could have atleast got that scratch on the front bumper fixed and swapped out the inner handle that was proper grubby. Bit more effort you’d have got 3k You did all the hard work so why not go the extra mile?

I think you fell foul of the ULEZ crash. Older diesels that would incure the daily ULEZ fee have lost a lot of value on the used market recently. Even if the buyers are nowhere near London the emissions zones are popping up in other cities like the plague. Had this been a 330i I think it would have sold faster.

Wait.. you calculated a profit of £650 but you did NOT even take out your own hourly payment for every single spend on the car, also the finding and collecting etc.. And then you should also set off the money you would have earned in the average stock-market with your money invested for 3 month also.. You ended up with a BIG deficit and waste of your time, that could have been sold elsewhere. You have a LOT to learn my friend. ;)
@@Josh.Sanderson Your money spend on the car - and had stored in the car, could have given you an interest if invested. That loss of interest you have to calculate into your expenses.

Thanks for waiting man ❤️ I’ve recently moved from England to wales so been sorting all my stuff out and picked up a full time job so it’s tough but I’m gonna smash the videos out from now 💪

His been doing it years and made his money high end car rentals 😁
Was the high mileage the killer for this? In my experience on flipping cars over the last 3 years, the public seem to have a mental block when a car is over 100k.
Yeah for sure I think people just sssume over 100k is scrap, then buy sub 100k cars with no service history
Yup annoying as most cars can last way over 100k ive had cars that are 30k and worse then the over 100k 🤦♂️
new sub here, how have i only just found this mint channel? brilliant content lads
Ahyyy thanks for the sub matey!!! Glad you’re enjoying welcome to the army!!
I do add them for temporary insurance usually which costs around £60 for a month but this one cost barely anything that’s why i didn’t include it
Usualy bout 20 odd day
No damage caused by dropping the car on the jack... pretty sure the door looked bent after that
Door was already dented when I bought the car
330d some car guy will buy it. And they definitely will not pay good money. When you flip cars try to find something a woman would drive. Like suvs, mini coopers, polo etc. They usually don't negotiate much.
He’s back! 👏👏👏
Haha finally finished a flip!
New to the channel really enjoying it
Welcome!!! Thanks man I’m glad!
Well done Josh a fair bit of graft that 👍
Thanks Rich!
👍
Did your deduct labour cost from the profit? How much would these jobs cost if those were to be done by someone else?
I didn’t and I’ve got no idea!
Keep up the good work enjoy watching your videos
Thanks a lot!
Great work, but diesel cars are not in great demand and car market ia soft over summer.
Yeah I haven’t thought of that it’s true diesels aren’t doing so great any more!

Hi buddy,
It’s commendable how hard you’re working on this to do the job right.
@@GillyGilb you hit some really good points mate! But glad you enjoy the videos that’s the main goal!
Fantastic advice 👍👍
i bought an antara for 5k less than two years ago. i cant even get 2k for it now. much better to deal with small cars. they sell like hot cakes and easier to work on
Couldnt agree more 1st time cars etc 👍👍
Prob cause its a vauxhall 😂
At 5:50 that's a waterproof membrane that needs to be sealed with butyl tape or equivalent as it will leak in the future otherwise.
I'd always rather buy an honest car that has defects and problems than buy from a flipper/2nd hand dealer who has done the absolute minimum to a car. Then I can replace and fix things myself to my own standards with care
Each to there own
All the best from Denmark 💪😀 Keep up the good job 🤩
Thanks for watching all the way from there!!! Thank you mate!!!!
Nice place just came back from Copenhagen 😁
Another great video Josh, good to see all the hard work that goes into getting these cars ready forsale. Also has to be said good work on the videos and the editing thats a proper job in itself alongside the actual work that goes into the cars. I haven't seen but do you also have a day job?
Thanks again mate really do appreciate it! Yeah I work full time as a mechanical engineer so its very difficult to get these flips done, filmed, edited, and posted but I do enjoy it! Although its a lot of work
👍

Not a clue about this mate
Do you have to put the log book in your name? Do you need trader’s insurance? I’m interested in getting into selling cars
Yes you do and I do everything normally so nothing with trades license
👍
£650 not to be sniffed at for a quick turnaround.
nobody cares on facebook market unfortunately everyone just offers you £0.78p
Yeah frustrating but unfortunately only worth as much as people will pay even if it went for an absolute bargain

Yeah for sure I think, luckily just bought a ulez complaint car hopefully make good money
Its a joke no diesels but you can drive a 3 litre petrol no problem around london
Sold many bmws for profit. E92 m3 bought at 17.4. Sold at 21.1k , e60 m sport 550i , many e90s , multiple e46, Benz, BMW X5 Audi Q5. Wait.. you calculated a profit of £650 but you did NOT even take out your own hourly payment for every single spend on the car, also the finding and collecting etc.. And then you should also set off the money you would have earned in the average stock-market with your money invested for 3 month also.. You ended up with a BIG deficit and waste of your time, that could have been sold elsewhere. You have a LOT to learn my friend. ;)
What are you talking about set off the money I could’ve earned in the stock market? 🤣🤣🤣
@@Josh.Sanderson Your money spend on the car - and had stored in the car, could have given you an interest if invested. That loss of interest you have to calculate into your expenses.
@@andersnielsen6044 I don’t have to put that into my expenses at all lol
@@andersnielsen6044 also I would have lost money if I put the money into the s&p500 so that mean I make more profit? So I made more than £650 right? This is a car flipping channel not an investment channel
@@Josh.Sanderson Who told you to buy S&P500, your fantasy or? What if you had bought into a broad range of investments.. But well you do not want to learn - you do you.. Good luck with your journey. I will instead find some adult who actually know how and what it is to flip cars.. Btw I trade +1500 cars across the world every single year.. So purhaps you should read and learn. ;)
