    Periodic car flipper here! 2 tips 4u:
    1. I pay myself hrly rate b4 profit!
    2. I'd try public auctions 4 cheap cars. Your time prepping car is part of vehicle recon. No reason to ad it to your profit!
    Because you spent about 19 hrs of labor $25/hr is fair. That's $475
    Minutes $4112 ($4112-475=$3637) $3637 is your actual profit! Which is still awesome👌

    Sometimes, it's better to not even talk about numbers until ya get in person as it's typically easier to negotiate than over phone/text. When you're there with cash in hand it makes it far easier for them to let it go even cheaper.

      As long as you’re not too far apart on price. If someone is at $10,000 and you’re at $5,000 showing up in person is typically a huge waste of everyone’s time. And in this case with the owner already agreeing to $4,000 over the phone he was in a good place for further negotiation.

    Cool vid man! I’ve been restoring my dad’s 2006 Grand Caravan (160k miles) since it’s going to be my car now. The process has been fun and rewarding. I’ve been thinking about trying this process on other used Chryslers for flipping purposes after finishing up my car, but with a personal project theres always more to do. Seeing your process was both very helpful and entertaining.
    One question tho. How do you determine if a mechanic or shop will get a job done right and for a fair price? Like what do you talk with them about in person? Price? Process? Anything specific I should remember to do? My dad learned to work with cars out of necessity growing up in rural SE Asia and I’ve been learning from him, but for a car that I’d sell, I’m really not looking to rebuild a tranny ya know 😅(and these minivans love to run through trannys). Anyways, subbed.

    • @luckysevenmac
      @luckysevenmac  หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      That’s cool, there great minivans. Thanks! Normally I do the work myself, but to find a good mechanics shop, look at like 10-20 of them on yelp and pick a few with good reviews. Then figure out the cheapest labor one and go with that one. Trust the reviews is all you really can do. Small jobs, try and do yourself!

    • @luckysevenmac
      @luckysevenmac  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I don't think individual flippers move the market in any way, think of it like this, who are the biggest flippers, new car dealers and used car dealers are nothing more than flippers, but on a huge scale. The price of used cars always moves in direct proportion to the cost of new cars, when new car became too high the used car prices went up to a higher price due to demand rose, many, if not most new car dealers make more money off used car sales than new cars, that's why you see so many dealerships advertising that they buy used cars, individual flippers are at the mercy of bigger trends in the car economy, they aren't setting the trends.

    Have flipped a lot of cars myself. When i sell them and someone wants to haggle my price over the phone or text, I tell them that they can haggle a price that way, but don't show up wanting any more off. Thats it if you want to negotiate sight unseen. I have sent people packing who show up and try the second round of negotiating. I usually convince them to stand in front of it before offering any money, and it helps us both out.

    • @luckysevenmac
      @luckysevenmac  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah it makes sense. If I offer online I let them know I will buy as long as it is as described. But sometimes I will show up and it has more problems so I offer less to reflect that. But in person only is much better for sure

    • @indianaslim4971
      @indianaslim4971 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I've flipped cars since the 70's, before texts, emails and stay away from any numbers over the phone, never put "obo" in an ad and often say price is firm, when asked over the phone or in person how much I'll go down in price I'll either say none or maybe a little bit not much cause I'm not hurting for money. Also I cut the low ballers at the knees immediately, I didn't spend my money and time for someone else to make a profit, I often told them my bottom dollar was the starting point and only negotiated up from there. Now I must say that I flipped cars as a side hustle while working full time so it was easy to be a hardass when selling.

    How do you go about the title?
    Do you still sign and register it to yourself and then receive a new title with your name on it to then be able to sell it? Or can you simply use the title from the original seller and not register it to yourself and have the next person you sell it to worry about registering it?

    Can definitely appreciate the hustle. Couple of things to keep in mind...
    1.) If you're having a shop perform repair work - especially an established business, many many many shops will frown upon or straight up not allow outside parts. They make money on them selling to you. And they also warranty the part as well. If an expensive, difficult job, uses a part you provided, and it fails, guess who's on the hook for the part, as well as the labor for the part again? There's definitely places to save/cut corners - this isn't the place. If the shop is willing to entertain outside parts, make sure you have the rapport with the shop that you'll eat the cost if it's a re-do.
    2) Don't forget that sellers have the internet too. And phones to look up stuff. If you have things priced out in mind, yea you're not pressuring them into a sale, but you also want to sleep at night. You never know what the future may hold if they liked dealing with you personally, they may contact you again in the future with their next car to sell- especially if you have the rapport built up. Or if they feel you are a great buyer/reseller of cars, they'll suggest you to their friends.
    lol @ the oil bath.

    • @luckysevenmac
      @luckysevenmac  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I found the part at an auto store nearby, I let them know and they ordered it. So I didn’t bring it to them, also it had a warranty from auto shop. But definitely agree.
      And yes it’s great to be kind and you can potentially get more business from them, but also as a flipper you have to get a deal to make money.
      Oil bath!!

      As a retired mechanic and owner of a shop for a couple of years I've seen this scenario hundreds of times and the standard operating procedure was to say sure BUT, the labor isn't warranted and it's full cost, not discounted, the shops that will not put owner supplied parts on usually have excessive mark-up on their parts and probably not a lot of customers so they rely on the mark up.

  • @John-ke2jm
    @John-ke2jm หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I HIGHLY recommend not doing a 2 step polish on a car you are flipping. A good one step polish and sealant is just about as good and saves TONS of time. 3D makes some great products and makes one of the most popular one step, called Speed Car Polish and Wax. It's not cheap but you can do several cars with one bottle easily. Sonax and Rupes also make great one step polishes.

      @@luckysevenmac Ya I saw later in the video where you mentioned your detail experience so I knew then you knew about those. It’s preference, more competition on marketplace, but you can find some crazy deals. Auction you need knowledge of how they go or you’ll get screwed over, plus normally you get them at a small deal since if it was really cheap it will just get bid up higher. But less people on auctions. I prefer marketplace and better for anyone looking to get started.
