you are so lucky to have an E36 in such 'good condition' - really! I don't know what you paid but it was worth it surely, it's getting harder and harder to find one not rotten completely - either here or in continental europe (i.e. get the front water drainage channels below the windscreen checked if they're not blocked to avoid future problems), also it doesn't look to 'devastated' by previous owners.
I would switch out the steering wheel with the oem M-sport one and I would definitely keep those headlights as well you should get the aftermarket tinted sidelights, Great Vid👍
Hey dude have you ever thought about installing some musical air horns to your car then when your driving along you will be able to give your fans some musical tones just like trucker Tim on TH-cam
lovely project, had a look at the mot history and just before it was left there it failed for loads of things then fixed and left. had exhaust related issues in 2021 which was then fixed and the current advisories are All under side heavily corroded Nearside front brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material (1.1.11 (c)) Offside front brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material (1.1.11 (c)) Supplementary restraint system warning lamp does not illuminate (7.1.6 (a)) it failed on exhaust emissions literally every MOT over the last few years but it seems to get fixed every year too seems suspicous looks like its had new coil springs and suspension arm joints replaced in the latest MOT, hopefully it isnt too rusty haha cant wait for this one, didnt ever think youd have a car older than your first corsa but this project looks like fun
Hi Brett, love the E36. I had a few back when I was in my early 20s (not far off 40 now). I always wanted the 328is but the biggest I had was a 323i. Just subscribing to see how this project turns out. Good luck mate!! :)
Very ncie project car! I had a 325i and it looks like yours has the m50b25 inlet manifold from the 325i which is another reason it would make a bit more power due to it been bigger than the standard 328i version.
I’d deffo get some reinforcements for those front shock mounts, they’re known to mushroom as it is (it did on my e46) and with the rust on yours that’ll weaken them further
Great car, had the same colour but a 325i straight 6, 97 model. wish I still had it would be worth something now, didn't breakdown once in 7 years and 90K later. 12 years ago couldn't even get £500 on ebay for it and that was a perfect running one!!
That brought back memories of my Arctic Silver E36 M3 Evo I had back in 2004, I only sold it because some stupid woman hit me reversing out of the space next to me in a morrisons carpark, panicked and continued to reverse and took the whole side of the car off arch to arch. I got it repaired but I could see the difference in the paint repair because I knew it was there. I've since had an E46 330ci and now have an E90 335d but the newer ones don't quite have the same visceral driving experience.
Brett Barnes upheti zembe dah boi, in South African street slang that means you got an "axe/sabre sword of a car" that things slashes my guy. A true gem 🙆🏽♂️🙆🏽♂️🙆🏽♂️
Had a 325i e36 loved it.mine had the sunflower m3 alloys those are the evo ones I think .the 328i sports are quite rare and a good one worth some decent money
That car brings back memories had a British racing green in it 328i sport loved it sold it for a m5 but had most fun out of the 328 wish u all the best with it
Just found this channel, good content! But like others have said no airbag is a definite failure and suspicious it fails emissions every year! Good luck.
Awesome Brett. Great car for phenomenal content. Go all out on it. It cleaned up perfectly. I’ve owned two e36 BMWs. Going up in value and a classic. Great spec, perfect engine. Will you dare to chop it into a pick up truck?!?!?!
i simply cannot believe that somone who's into cars would let such a car just grow into the ground and rot away... 2.8 liter manual, coupe, m3 rims and factory m package trim. it would easily be worth like 5k quid here in poland in it's current state.
It's a beaut. I personally like the headlights, depends if you're going down the restore route or the mod route... I think you already know the answer to that though!
@@BrettBarnesYT IMO you should then get the OEM headlights fitted with 'angel lights' type rings and re-seal the headlights properly to get away with moisture problem inside, have a clean but also cool look - car looks OEM, side lights on - car looks amazing.
nice choice hope your new project have good results but keep in mind that the car beneath needs a lot of work cause of the rust!!!!!!!!!but i cant believe still that you gave the m140i for that,
The rust is not bad at all, most of it is just some surface rust! It's pretty solid :) Also, I haven't got rid of my M140i for this... This is just a stop-gap project until I get my M140i replacement
Sick car they are getting so hard to find here in canada and they are all taxed! I had a e36 318is and I miss it, always wanted the 328is =P Great Video, you got a new sub from me!
This acutely brought tears to my eyes seeing this video, it took me back when my Uncle Gary had one with all E36 bumpers parts etc ❤ Love your videos and keep up the good work 👌
The next video on the E36 is now live! Watch it here - th-cam.com/video/1oGHoB_F6OM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6DwmYx0FIFeXYXIV
The way these are going up in value you’ve smashed it with this find 🔥🔥

What a Treasure find. I like the headlight looks unique

Congrats mate! Looking forward to this!
Liking the new E36! Great spec and great to see you in a BMW again. Worth making this mint and underseal it etc 👌🏻

Had several of them.
Enjoyed them all.
-316i for the missus
-320i, swapped to 325i.
-318is classII “procar”
-323i touring
Terrific cars!

I was looking for this comment. I agree
Definately has the M50 inlet on it, which also means it's probably had a map too.
@dannb0dge Yeah it does, completely forgot to mention it in the video
Great choice of project if you ask me! Nice to see something that was a hero of a car when I was younger! Fed up of seeing modern cars on TH-cam 😴
Those headlights are sick! Keep them!
What I said and thought, angle lights are amazing
Personally I think the standard headlights with aftermarket angel eyes look the best
@@RM-gc4zkfr
Completely agree
horrific headlights. only oem for e36's.
I’d deffo get some reinforcements for those front shock mounts, they’re known to mushroom as it is (it did on my e46) and with the rust on yours that’ll weaken them further
i mean like i like the headlights and bmw e36 is my dream project car

That car is awesome!
Those older bimmers are justsomething else, propper driving machines!
I can't wait to do bits on it and make it look mega :)
Air filter/induction kit looks like the old pipercross viper kit. Sounds like vtec without the cold air feed in.
sheeeessh lets goo E36 M3 project car this gonna be epic it was worth that!!!!
Yes finally some detailing back on your channel!

Ripe for restoration that one! Needs original headlights and indicators putting back on, going up in value at the minute too!
That car brings back memories had a British racing green in it 328i sport loved it sold it for a m5 but had most fun out of the 328 wish u all the best with it

Put the Original headlights and indicators on and that’s a class E36.
I like the headlights that are in it.
