Lovely. A car-shaped car with no black wheels, no black badging, no black lettering, no blacked out windows and no black interior? Ah - those were the days. Beautiful car.
Regarding the aircon, it's working because the previous owners used it all the time (as it should be winter and summer). It mostly has issues with the system components when owners think they are being smart by turning it off. In reality, all you are doing is increasing the humidity and fogging up windows by turning it off. Leave it on all the time and you are VERY unlikely to have issues.
Agreed. Similar thing with central heating boilers. Leave it on in the summer months to heat water only. Many do not do this and use the electric immersion heater instead.
Correct. We don't have the problem of a/c failures due to lack of use here where I am in Aus, because, only fools and masochists don't run the a/c in all but the depth of winter (because you'd cook before you got to the end of the street), and even then it helps to dehumidify/defog the car. Cheers!
I don't agree. In a modern car, you should be able to turn off the aircon without needing to worry about breaking it. Otherwise, the manufacturer should remove this button completely. In a good modern car, when you turn off the aircon, you shouldn't have problems with fogging your windows. Well, at least my car doesn't do that at all. I regularly turn off the aircon because I feel/smell the difference between aircon-air and natural air. Often, in spring, I prefer to turn off aircon and open some windows, and let fresh air in (letting in whatever smells are outside), instead of constantly breathing in "treated" air.

The diamond key can be charged by either driving the car or by an electric toothbrush. Use the base of the toothbrush ( it has a coil inside) and put that key inside - I am NOT joking. Remember when this Bangle design E60 model was released it was controversial due to the design but it has stood the test of time extremely well. A good service record has meant that there is still plenty of life left in this 21 y.o. car. That 2.2 litre 6 cylinder motor was a 'peach' and contributed to a rewarding drive. The leather interior is also beautiful. Well done.

Talking about aircon, many years ago travelling in India in the ubiquitous Hindustan Ambassador taxi, the driver said "do you want aircon", if you said yes they would wind the windows down or drive on the shady side of the road. I doubt any had aircon, and you would be lucky if even the wind down windows worked. Stick to the Tuk Tuks Yes the Beemer looks very good, and of course the indicators worked OK.
I really can't believe how little the e60 rust. I did the prop shaft bearing on a friends -04 530d with nearly half a million on it. The damn thing was nearly rust free and it probably hasn't had a wash in years and runs in salt half a year. The e39 I have and only use it for towing so it dosen't really se salt anymore is so much worse, every door + underside is starting to go, the floor jacks has amazingly survived....
Very early E60- October '03 car. The first customer cars were 53 plates so this is first 2 months, maybe one of the earliest left! You know its a decent car when it has the stickers on the toolkit too.
Bought one 8 yrs ago for £2200 and still got it as i absolutely love it. It’s so quiet, comfy, economical. Mine is 1.6 petrol which is 110bhp and weighs less than a ton so it goes perfectly well. Had a settee in it as well as double bed. Mates always want to borrow it for ikea.
As I was watching this, I paused and made this comment. Love Matt's excitement when he sees these cars. I was waiting in anticipation and squinting to see if I don't see anything in that owner's manual...to see if it is the 6 cylinder 😂 When Matt said, "I suppose we can open the bonnet" my first thought was, oh yes we could do that... almost as if I was there next to Matt. I love your videos and channel, Matt. Have a great evening.
In the car park it looked a little tired, but that is a lovely car. I was thinking "Why was it only £500?" but it just seems like a genuine bargain. That six cylinder sounded lovely as well. And they were the sort of car that someone upgraded from an old 90's Mondeo to. To quote Matt; That must've been some car when it was new.
Just some nerd chat about Holland Park BMW: I used to take my 3 series to BMW "Park Lane" - the fancy showroom was actually on Park Lane in Central London but all servicing was actually done at a much more humble semi-industrial site in Battersea, which later moved to the even less fancy light industrial site at Park Royal. I imagine Holland Park was the location of the fancy showroom before Park Lane.
Lovely cars these... absolute bargain at £500. Had the diesel version loved it then been on the F10's ever since. Just solid. Fast enough and very comfortable. Great work.
Matt the first video of yours I ever watched was a review of a BMW 5 series and was brilliant. Got me hooked to HPA entertainment and watched them all ever since especially JLR products, especially gorgeous range rovers 👌
Love these Videos and Matt seems like a really decent guy, but strongly suggesting these old used cars even in fairly good condition are worth so much is killing the second hand car market.
This type of spec was the main thing that drew me to my old GS300 (in that car's case, it was a deep maroon with a beige interior and beige headlining) - a lighter colour, light interior and smaller wheels are the least try-hard, most mature spec for a luxo-barge, which suggests the owner was someone with the money and will to actually take care of it.
Low mileage, extra key ordered not too long ago and a working airconditioning. Looks like the previous owner liked the car (except for the cosmetic things).
Hi Matt!! Came across your channel recently and just wanted to say that I love it!! ... Been binge watching your videos over the last few weeks!! ... It's like Homes Under the Hammer, but for cars!!👍🙂 .. Love it!! .. Keep up the great work, mate!! .. And best of luck with business!!👍🙂
Sorry to hear that you're ill, Matt. Personally I despise having a sore throat. I can literally deal with any other symptom associated with a cold or flu, but not that one. Not sure if they sell it on your side of the pond, but Tylenol Sore Throat syrup is the only thing I've found that works well, and instantly. It works so well and fast that after about a full minute, if you feel no relief, call up your doctor and make an immediate appointment because you have a serious infection in your throat. (Not even joking. Found that out on my own, the hard way.) Biggest issue with the syrup is liver damage. But you'd have to chug several gallons upon gallons of the syrup to actually do any damage to yourself. So, no worries there. As for the car, don't know what to say. ONLY $500 for one that runs *THAT* well and clearly has been taken care of? Wondering if the owner was desperate for money. Hopefully after 20+ years he just found another car he likes better, and just had no clue about pricing. Oh well, Cheers Matt. Hope you get better very very soon.
Had a 520d from new, same exterior colour and black leather. Had to pick it up from up north, arriving on some odd looking train, that was more like a bus on rails! Driving back south took 8 hours and driving a brand new car on a motorway is never fun. Anyways, it was good car, did 55mpg on a run, which was decent for such a large car back then. Didn't feel short changed with the four pot diesel performance wise. Went into a new X5 after, which caught fire one day and I haven't touched BMWs since! Pity really as my dad had a new 528i in 1980 and did nearly 200k miles in it, they were well built back then. Great channel!
Tax is £400+ may seem like a lot to some, but if you look at it this way... that is about the price of a monthly lease on a plastic euro box with a 1.0 engine and a decent mileage allowance....i know what i would rather drive! Great find Matt, these E60's were marmite cars design wise when they were new, but, time has been kind i think. Great find!
Great video Matt! Hope all is going better for you now! That car is a beaut - Imagine if we all just bought and ran old cheap cars like that, rather than our expensive, financed, newer stuff... So much money in the bank, mortgage paid off, retire early, holidays.... I need to rethink my choices 😂
The M52TU & M54 are the smoothest six cylinder engines in the world ever, had a couple, silky smooth, wonderful sound. That is a HELL of a lot wonderful for no money👍 The interior appears brand new Funny thing about EBay, everything is so expensive on it, makes me wonder why people still use it? I gave up on it about 10 years ago
I find it quite funny that that car is only 2 generations on from the E34 (the youngest E34s were only 7 years old when that E60 was built), but they look and feel at least 20 years apart

That's a lovely BM that Matt. Back in the 90's my parents had an E28. I think it was a 528iSE. It had originally been owned from new by the manager of Red Rose BMW in Chester. It came with every extra, including a ZF gearbox. They kept it for about 10 years, until the cost of keeping it on the road became too much of a burden. Even back then it was around £150 per tyre, because they were metric. They eventually bought a set of normal sized alloys and tyres to minimise the future cost.
Matt that 5 series for £500 that's bound to have massive problem. In a minute now in the mechanic massive bill they will be pleased 😂😂😂😂😂 love it matt!!
understatement there mate, i think the top of the line 530d was literally the 2nd best car to ever of been made, and its the only thing that isnt a 5 cylinder turbo i would ever want to own or drive. the top of the line 530d with all the goodies is just perfect aslong as its manual.
A great presentation of an excellent car. That 6 cylinder engine was - and is - silky smooth. I drove both an E reg "Mk1" 5 Series and an example of what you've got there. I can thoroughly recommend them. In fact, if I was in the market for such a car & didn't live 8 miles from Lowestoft, I'd buy it off you!
@AWMJoeyjoejoe well in all fairness this is wrong. The M54 engines were all straight 6s and it carried over from the previous 3 & 5 series but only for two years (53-54 plates) then they introduced the N46 for the 320/520i which was a 4 cylinder and then swapped it for the N43 which was another 4 cyl. Worst decision they ever made
@havisfin4562 he oddly probably meant an E39. I already explained the engine changed three times for a 6cyl and there is clearly 4s from 2005 onwards in the 2L variants
I almost can't believe how good shape this is in after £1000 total spent. Everyone watching this must be feeling scammed with whatever car they've bought. I sure do, why did I spend £10k when I could have gotten something that's 90% as nice for a tenth of that.
I have the e60 09 525d perfect car . Can afford 30k car but why should I spend it when it does everything I need it to . Solid built worth 3k but gives me a smile each time I drive it. 30k car would probably impress and feel new for a bit but then buyers remorse when I decide to sell it.
@@eddy45686 it was n47 but that wasn't the biggest of the problems believe it or not. Amongst other things the headlights both let water in and around 1000 each to replace! 😵💫

It really isn't half bad, that. For a 21 yr old car I'm mightily impressed. Yokohama tyres are a nice touch that show the car has been looked after. I like the colour too. If there's one thing I like more than a blue car, it's a big, blue car.
When on holiday I put the bins out for my neighbours and they do the same for me. I'm old but still think I'm too young for R2. I've had many cars in my life but never a Beemer. I think I'm more a Mercedes man, perhaps I am old. Entertaining video as always

Well done.
“Let me just park up somewhere scenic” and parks next to an overflowing bin. 😂 Another great video Matt, I’ll keep watching them as long as you keep making them.
ok, i'm not the only one that noticed 😁 This is happening when you don't have separate cameraman that pays attention to such things. Luckily, this channel is so good that we can live with the bins in the background 🙂👍
A half tidy cheap Beemer - with indicators. You don't get many of them to the pound.
😂
Exactly what I said to my mistress before she slapped me round the cheeks
Couldn’t agree more about a straight six engine. I’ve got a merc e320 cdi straight six auto. Buttery smooth engine and gearbox.
Stick to the Tuk Tuks
Yes the Beemer looks very good, and of course the indicators worked OK.
What you need is a fisherman’s friend 😂
Love this era BMW. We had these at work and always loved going out in them
The number of times Matt said "I'm quite pleased with that" 😊
This is s nice car you know! 😊
Lives in the shadow of the E39 but the E60 is ageing well...they don't rust and will do a million miles with decent maintenance.
Aging like milk and driven by roma gypsies on Romanian plates 😂
Yes, unlike E39s, E60s don't rust.
I own both and the other year spent almost £3k getting the rust done on the E39.
@@lewis72 My E39 528i Touring was scrapped years ago with terminal rust in the rear inner sills and tailgate. What has changed with the E60 rust wise?
I really can't believe how little the e60 rust. I did the prop shaft bearing on a friends -04 530d with nearly half a million on it. The damn thing was nearly rust free and it probably hasn't had a wash in years and runs in salt half a year.
The e39 I have and only use it for towing so it dosen't really se salt anymore is so much worse, every door + underside is starting to go, the floor jacks has amazingly survived....

Not sure really, maybe better undercoat/paint ?
I remember when you used to get cars for 200 pounds a few years back this is a amazing car for 500 👍
Very early E60- October '03 car. The first customer cars were 53 plates so this is first 2 months, maybe one of the earliest left! You know its a decent car when it has the stickers on the toolkit too.
I love that Berlingo, good honest motor and really comfy.
Hi matt, great job on the BMW, hope you sell it soon, from marty in Belfast northern Ireland God bless
Loved the comment about BMW indicators! 😂
Lovely cars these... absolute bargain at £500. Had the diesel version loved it then been on the F10's ever since. Just solid. Fast enough and very comfortable.
Great work.
That is a beautiful car. Wish I could find one for £500 pound. I’d snap it up immediately.
Probably break down after a day and cost double that to fix it.

Matt the first video of yours I ever watched was a review of a BMW 5 series and was brilliant. Got me hooked to HPA entertainment and watched them all ever since especially JLR products, especially gorgeous range rovers 👌
Glad you enjoyed it!
I like the wheel design on this one - always liked 5 spokes.
Love these Videos and Matt seems like a really decent guy, but strongly suggesting these old used cars even in fairly good condition are worth so much is killing the second hand car market.
Lovely scenic view of an overflowing bin hate to think what's in the green bag
This type of spec was the main thing that drew me to my old GS300 (in that car's case, it was a deep maroon with a beige interior and beige headlining) - a lighter colour, light interior and smaller wheels are the least try-hard, most mature spec for a luxo-barge, which suggests the owner was someone with the money and will to actually take care of it.
Low mileage, extra key ordered not too long ago and a working airconditioning. Looks like the previous owner liked the car (except for the cosmetic things).
Thats so clean, unabused and mint!
Great video and work as always Matt! :D
I had that engine in my old E46 SE. Loved it, best car out of all the lads at 20 years old 😂 👌🏼
I've not actually watched this yet, but I can already hear Matt's catch phrase "I've massively overspent" lolol
lol, I love that on almost every car "I haven't actually seen it, but it sounds alright". Great video.
Thanks! I appreciate that
@@HighPeakAutos You're welcome, mate!!👍🙂
That BMW has been well looked after, just like all cars should. Did Jimmy also sort the lacquer peel on the bonnet?
That's easily a 2.5-3k car. Nice to see another one saved!👍
My eldest is currently looking at a nice clean 05 plate ZS 180. It's up at £3.500......
what could go wrong with a £500 bmw 🤔
A lot 😂
Only a light control module on my 530d in nine years...£60 on e bay
Turns out this one is not a complete turd
EVERYTHING, especially if it has 200 000 miles on odometer 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Once Matt has massively overspent… there Will be a lot more left to go wrong.
A tidy 5 series in the right spec and condition will soon find a new owner.
The badge will sell it, just pray it doesn't come back.
I would definitely buy this one from him right now in cash if it was a left-hand drive car. I’m looking for a clean one
Great find!
Why the hell are cars so cheap in England? You can barely buy a running Renault Clio for 500€ - 800€
true, Im in shock, he is literlly complaining that he paid 1000$ for that
Trust me, that's the only thing cheap here 😂
Maybe the climate in England makes cars rust like cheese? When looking Furious Driving videos, all older cars seem to just rust away
Would love a 5. Bought a 320d years ago. 58 plate. Still only got 51k on clock. Best car I've had. Still lust after a 335d or a 6 pot petrol.
Dont think I have ever seen a car looking so good in the 2nd part of your videos. Testament to this era of car.
Cream leather with wood (ish) trim 🤩 the ultimate !!
Are you a hairdresser?
Ah! The Bangle-butt! A now timeless classic. Well done in keeping thus one in the road! I like the leather interior on this one!!
You saved another car Matt 🚘🚙🚗👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
You can tell on the e60 if it’s 3lt. Two exhausts is 3ltr. One is 2ltr. Excellent video again pal. 👍👍👍👍
New video! Get in!!!
Had a similar e60 520d drove it for 7 years, it was economical and apart from the turbo going on it had very little issues. Loved the interior.
Hey up Matt 👌👌
The M52TU & M54 are the smoothest six cylinder engines in the world ever, had a couple, silky smooth, wonderful sound.
That is a HELL of a lot wonderful for no money👍 The interior appears brand new
Funny thing about EBay, everything is so expensive on it, makes me wonder why people still use it? I gave up on it about 10 years ago
This is the content we Love Matt
Thanks
I find it quite funny that that car is only 2 generations on from the E34 (the youngest E34s were only 7 years old when that E60 was built), but they look and feel at least 20 years apart

Love love love this era of BMW, the wagon looks so much better but it’s beautiful and looks better than most new cars today
Should be as reliable as an old Toyota. 😂😂
Good video Matt a friend in the next village bought a 2014 M5 non runner , would not fire at all bought it for 1k cleaned it up , fitted new coil packs or whatever they are called and it runs smoothly
Back when BMW design was cool - what the hell went wrong.... This turned out really well, it looks great ! 🇩🇪🇬🇧👍
This was already a bit weird in the styling department. What came before this are the true classics....
@@alphatrion100 I agree for sure. I didnt like this model when it came out, but now I think it looks good. But the earlier cleaner designs were better.
Agreed, this is restrained compared to some of todays BMWs 😂
they really took a nosedive when they started adding that kidney grill and those teany tiny headlights that look pathetic on a BMW
They look so much classier than the modern stuff, especially the electric crap
It'll be fine this isn't an Audi 😂😂
Solid bit of motoring. People may mock the Bangle era of BMW but it’s a solid generation of 5 Series.
understatement there mate, i think the top of the line 530d was literally the 2nd best car to ever of been made, and its the only thing that isnt a 5 cylinder turbo i would ever want to own or drive.
the top of the line 530d with all the goodies is just perfect aslong as its manual.
@@lloyde-t5n absolutely. Shame the ULEZ and Clean Air Zone nonsense essentially stops these dead unless you wanna pay every day.
You hold the steering wheel like a jazz driving old woman
A great presentation of an excellent car. That 6 cylinder engine was - and is - silky smooth. I drove both an E reg "Mk1" 5 Series and an example of what you've got there. I can thoroughly recommend them. In fact, if I was in the market for such a car & didn't live 8 miles from Lowestoft, I'd buy it off you!
2.2 straight 6 M54B22. E60 never had a petrol 4 pot in its lifetime. Ever.
Honestly didn't know that. Thanks for the info! 👍
Worst decision they ever made
Check your facts, please. plenty of 4 cyl, both petrol 520i and diesel 520d in later E60/E61
@havisfin4562 he oddly probably meant an E39. I already explained the engine changed three times for a 6cyl and there is clearly 4s from 2005 onwards in the 2L variants
@@GucciBucketHat I don't think so, if he says E60 he means E60.
But actually, for several years I thought so too, before I checked the issue
Nice one, but how much to fix rear driver electric window? 👍
I almost can't believe how good shape this is in after £1000 total spent. Everyone watching this must be feeling scammed with whatever car they've bought. I sure do, why did I spend £10k when I could have gotten something that's 90% as nice for a tenth of that.
Right here, £35k in 2 years for 2 cars .. both just a bit better than this one. 😢
I have the e60 09 525d perfect car .
Can afford 30k car but why should I spend it when it does everything I need it to . Solid built worth 3k but gives me a smile each time I drive it. 30k car would probably impress and feel new for a bit but then buyers remorse when I decide to sell it.
Yep..I brought a 5k f11 BMW and it turned out to be a complete basket case!
@@danmoney9932 well the n57 n47 are shit engines so stick with M57 which can be tuned to 300 plus with no issues as strong internals.
@@eddy45686 it was n47 but that wasn't the biggest of the problems believe it or not. Amongst other things the headlights both let water in and around 1000 each to replace! 😵💫
AmI drove one today 525D. Is so much better than e46 as a machine, more upgraded, more luxury and more space and confort
Huge amount of luxury car for just £500 - full leather, working air con, 4 matched tyres with good tread, low mileage, full history, decent MOT, silky 6-pot engine with reliable timing chains, auto box - everything you need & nothing you don't need. Bargain of the century - £500 quid would barely buy you a scruffy small hatchback with grumbly 4-pot motor needing a new cam belt, cloth seats, manual gearbox & no air con...
Hi Matt, awesome content as usual! I wouldn't expect anything less. Call me sad but I genuinely look forward to each video you put up! Your content is well worth the watch. Stay positive though Matt, we all get a bit down and fed up sometimes... No matter how much money/wealth each of us have we are all still human and get the same feelings! Keep doing what your doing Matt your doing a GREAT JOB! Most importantly keep buying these cheap cheerful sub £3k cars they are the cars we all love to watch and see you go all out on 👌
Prediction: Massively overspent again?
nevermind 🤯
I got given an '04 530i last year. Serviced it and had the air con recharged and its a bloody brilliant car.
Comfy, fast and just a great drive. Similar milage to yours too.
£2495 would be a nice price for someone.
That CarVertical check seals the deal!! Do your magic and then ship it to Houston Texas. Thats the closest port. Please make sure to put a High Peak UK Sticker on it!!!!
Forgotten how nasty and cheap the interiors were on these E60s. The plastics were just awful and hollow feeling.
E39 far better.
I had a 520 d M Sport & the only thing that annoyed me was the backward wipers with curved swept area on drivers side.
What a lovely genuine, well looked after car. A nice colour combination too. Years of life left with an appreciative owner. Hope it sells swiftly as it deserves to.
