He's so relatable to me as someone who literally cannot function without a notebook where I write things down and something resembling a routine (why are so many bsd characters neurodivergent coded?), and also as someone who wants to see a better world and do what he can to help that vision come true, and also as someone who has no filter (Kunikida does not let his thoughts stay as thoughts). I wish we could see more of Kunikida, and I wish the fandom would grow a second braincell, but something tells me that's not gonna happen. Thank you for bringing up all of these details about Kunikida that make him who he is, like how in Beast he's wearing a blue ribbon, that's a detail that just lives in my brain rent free. God, Kunikida deserves so much better. its kinda sad, I started with the anime because one day I just found it while looking for what to watch and I really want to read the manga from the begening and read the novels but since I got so used to the anime it feels a bit weird, I really love bsd but they really did fuck up the anime, when I first looked at the manga I got a bit angry and disapointed because some scenes were cut out and just how some characters look in the anime. 15 dazai in the manga looks way better than the anime, in the anime he looks the exact same just in darker clothes, and akutagawas big dark eyes, or even fyodor, they made them look just so weird and I hate it. I hate how all people see is dazai and soukoku, I tried to talk about bsd with some of my friends but all they care about is dazai thank you for this amazing video ❤
This video has honestly really inspired me to try and get my hands on more of the light novels, probably starting with Dazais entrance exam and 55 minutes (I already have stormbringer and I’m not finished with it yet) As someone who only has seen the entrance exam arc through the anime , it’s sad to see how terribly it’s portrayed. Even my friend, who mostly watched the anime, said it felt out of place and mixed in. So I’ll get my hands on those two and be able to see Dazais Entrance Exam by the actual thing, over whatever bones turned it into (it was so. Terrible. I was so confused trying to remember when it was in the manga before I realised it was supposed to be the entrance exam…)

While i never though of kunikida as boring or anything, kunikidazai is cute and all but i didn't really care about kunikida much. I've read the light novel, it's pretty much the only one of the bsd light novels i've read and it's way better than the anime adaption. I haven't watched the anime in a few years, but the light novel feels fully about Kunikida while the anime feels afraid to focus on him. You should really read bsd gaiden! I loved the light novel ( i haven't read the manga, but i feel like the lightnovel's better?? idk why) It got me into Yukito Ayatsuji's works ( which I also hughly reccomend you read) . It makes me really annoyed that no one is talking about it!

i recently just reread the first light novel volume so this just made me have so many flashbacks and made my little heart feel happy in general since i knew about all the references. i also read katai's and kunikida's brilliant days even before he was introduced in the manga/anime, which made me proud too.
I just found your channel and OMG I ADORE it!!!! I was wondering if you could make an Atsushi analysis? I feel like most of the fandom seees him as a weak baby who needs Dazai to coddle him and hates Akutagawa with all of his being. I personally feel that he's more well-written than he's given credit for, and it's just the anime that doesn't potray him properly (tbh what DOES the anume potray properly atp). I agree with this analysis also I always loved kunikida's character when he was introduced i didn't saw BSD through dazai-chuuya tiktok or something so thought they were one of the main focus and always loved those dazai-kunikida dynamic but then we got introduced with chuuya and their partnership team got slowly forgotten wish they made both team as one for present and other was past also i didn't know anything abt this anime (not even dazai or chuuya) until i saw some ranpo video i researched it, was bored so gave it a shot and i fell in love with the story. I wish we get more of kunikida he had such a potential to be top character and his design is great too but now that what is going on with manga i m hopeless.

Kunikida is literally my favourite character!! Honestly i hate how mischaracterized he is like there are seriously people thinking he doesn't care(｡ŏ﹏ŏ) its really annoying and funny coz kunikida loves the agency so much, dazai and atsushi especially, but my guy has a hard time expressing he cares Like how he praised atsushi when he saved kyouka at the shipwreck but only did it after atsushi was unconscious And "you were so talented i couldn't have asked for a better partner" if u know u know 👀
Idk if its just something I latch onto as a kunikida enjoyer or if its an actual thing that was intentional but i like that asagiri does, in fact, manage to squeeze kunikida into bsd as much as he can, even if hes confined to the background. As much as he is definitely a side character in the story now, there are a l o t of moments focused on him specifically, even without the two light novels and the ova. He's more often than not the character whose point of view we see when the whole of the ada is focused on (when atsushi around, at least). When a general member of the ada is needed to do something or convey something to assist someone or the plot, its likely kunikida who is chosen to do it (e.g. the boat scene where he picks up atsushi and kyouka, dead apple with atsushi and kyouka again, the entire beginning of the doa arc where his emotions and reactions are especially focused on whilst theyre doing the raid on nikolai etc etc), even if hes not centre stage like certain other people (cough dazai cough), he still maintains a very special position within the plot where asagiri still writes him quite a significant amount over other ada members. I always found it very interesting how many people came out of watching the anime and hated kunikida/didnt understand his intent. I personally fell in love with his character via watching the anime specifically because I enjoyed his dynamics with the other characters and i liked his specific way of caring for the people around him, he didnt show his care on his face a lot of the time but he was still a foundation when things were crumbling (until he wasnt) and i understood his way of thinking, how people got so many blatantly incorrect assumptions about him through the anime still confuses me now. I'm not sure if anything i just wrote made any sense to anyone but me but i kinda just wanted to comment to boost this video in the algorithm and got carried away. Oh well.
The shit that asagiri goes though when speaking about a story of a duo he enjoys writing to be hated on is honestly stupid and so sad I mean imagine being the creator of a story that become so popular and made into an amine that became popular for the wrong reasons and when you try to speak about anything else instead of the thing that the major majority of the ((Doodoo heads)) audience want to hear you’d just get hated on like due just go outside if you’re upset over a guy saying he likes another gay ship ((lol)) he literally the man who wore the story dog and has anyone of them ever watch or read oshi no ko once It really does show how the entertainment word or reader idols and just entertainer have been told to either do better or change a story they want in to fit better with what the people want Some misunderstanding can lead to how some characters be portrayed differently from their groups and if you can’t watch the anime or read it just literally read any interview from the spy x family writer he had to change so much just to fit for the people to enjoy and as much as he didn’t like it they still change it or demon slayer was supposed to be much more darker but that was also changed because of it needing to be more friendly like the problem here

honestly Kunikida&Dazai is my favourite duo, i consider it a crime what the anime did to "Dazai's enterence exam". Maybe it would be better if they never got to "Beast" Kunikida's character is so interesting and enjoyable to me, it's sad how people's preferences influence his relevance in the story. Nothing against Chuuya, but some of his fans gave a bit of an unpleasant lasting impression of him/his interactions with Dazai 2 yrs ago -_- Even if you have a favourite in the story, other characters deserve as much spotlight, and not to be mischaracterized Really, why do ppl have to make everything about romance? There's so much more to chracters' relationship and they just make it plain romance. Let Asagiri do what he wants to with his characters, then the story will reach it's fullest. Like he's the author

Hi Cash! I apologize for the insanely stupid question. I can be quite inept when it comes to understanding plots as a whole and just how different characters contribute to the plot points. That being said, I know it was revealed that Dazai was the Azure Postle. I've searched across multiple platforms but my slow brain is still unable to understand how it works, I've even re-read the light novel and rewatched it in the anime. Having been a long-time watcher of your videos (Which I adore) I've realized that when it comes to anything BSD-related you explain things in such a way that I can fully understand, whereas if someone else were to explain or if I were to read it elsewhere I most likely will have no clue what they meant. It's been foreshadowed through this whole comment but I would really love it if you could make a video discussing this plot (How it plays out and how Dazai was the Azure Apostle). If not, I 100% understand but I'm turning to you in a desperate attempt to understand something my minuscule brain can't seem to figure out. Anyway, that's about all I have to say. It’s not going to warrant a full video but the answer is simply- the azure apostle (sasaki) was watching them at the time, so Dazai had to pretend Kunikida was about to shoot him and make Kunikida play along so that she wouldn’t know that they were onto the case. Since Sasaki DID frame Dazai, at the end of the day

This video has honestly really inspired me to try and get my hands on more of the light novels, probably starting with Dazais entrance exam and 55 minutes (I already have stormbringer and I’m not finished with it yet)
As someone who only has seen the entrance exam arc through the anime , it’s sad to see how terribly it’s portrayed. Even my friend, who mostly watched the anime, said it felt out of place and mixed in.
So I’ll get my hands on those two and be able to see Dazais Entrance Exam by the actual thing, over whatever bones turned it into (it was so. Terrible. I was so confused trying to remember when it was in the manga before I realised it was supposed to be the entrance exam…)

ty for the kunikida video! While i never though of kunikida as boring or anything, kunikidazai is cute and all but i didn't really care about kunikida much. I've read the light novel, it's pretty much the only one of the bsd light novels i've read and it's way better than the anime adaption. I haven't watched the anime in a few years, but the light novel feels fully about Kunikida while the anime feels afraid to focus on him.
You should really read bsd gaiden! I loved the light novel ( i haven't read the manga, but i feel like the lightnovel's better?? idk why) It got me into Yukito Ayatsuji's works ( which I also hughly reccomend you read) . It makes me really annoyed that no one is talking about it!

I will admit, Kunikida isn’t one of my favorite characters (I don’t think anyone from the main cast is my favorite?) but if I had to pick a favorite from the main cast, it would be him.
He’s such a complex character that others just boil down to a “side character”, “Dazai’s partner”, or “boring” etc. which honestly pisses me off at times, so I’m glad you made this analysis! You even brought some things that I didn’t know about him to light which I enjoy seeing.

i recently just reread the first light novel volume so this just made me have so many flashbacks and made my little heart feel happy in general since i knew about all the references. i also read katai's and kunikida's brilliant days even before he was introduced in the manga/anime, which made me proud too.

I agree with this analysis also I always loved kunikida's character when he was introduced i didn't saw BSD through dazai-chuuya tiktok or something so thought they were one of the main focus and always loved those dazai-kunikida dynamic but then we got introduced with chuuya and their partnership team got slowly forgotten wish they made both team as one for present and other was past also i didn't know anything abt this anime (not even dazai or chuuya) until i saw some ranpo video i researched it, was bored so gave it a shot and i fell in love with the story. I wish we get more of kunikida he had such a potential to be top character and his design is great too but now that what is going on with manga i m hopeless.

THANK YOU. Ive only watched the anime rn but i always had a wierd feeling towards kunikida's portraial in the fandom and in the anime. I also got into a verbal fistfight on pinterest with a bunch of people going "noboy cares for dazai 💔💔💔" LIKE WHAT. They really gotta ignore 90% of the story to make him a lonely sad boy 😭. Idk if its just something I latch onto as a kunikida enjoyer or if its an actual thing that was intentional but i like that asagiri does, in fact, manage to squeeze kunikida into bsd as much as he can, even if hes confined to the background. As much as he is definitely a side character in the story now, there are a l o t of moments focused on him specifically, even without the two light novels and the ova. He's more often than not the character whose point of view we see when the whole of the ada is focused on (when atsushi around, at least). When a general member of the ada is needed to do something or convey something to assist someone or the plot, its likely kunikida who is chosen to do it (e.g. the boat scene where he picks up atsushi and kyouka, dead apple with atsushi and kyouka again, the entire beginning of the doa arc where his emotions and reactions are especially focused on whilst theyre doing the raid on nikolai etc etc), even if hes not centre stage like certain other people (cough dazai cough), he still maintains a very special position within the plot where asagiri still writes him quite a significant amount over other ada members.
I always found it very interesting how many people came out of watching the anime and hated kunikida/didnt understand his intent. I personally fell in love with his character via watching the anime specifically because I enjoyed his dynamics with the other characters and i liked his specific way of caring for the people around him, he didnt show his care on his face a lot of the time but he was still a foundation when things were crumbling (until he wasnt) and i understood his way of thinking, how people got so many blatantly incorrect assumptions about him through the anime still confuses me now.
I'm not sure if anything i just wrote made any sense to anyone but me but i kinda just wanted to comment to boost this video in the algorithm and got carried away. Oh well.

Kunikida's character is so interesting and enjoyable to me, it's sad how people's preferences influence his relevance in the story. Nothing against Chuuya, but some of his fans gave a bit of an unpleasant lasting impression of him/his interactions with Dazai 2 yrs ago -_- Even if you have a favourite in the story, other characters deserve as much spotlight, and not to be mischaracterized

Hi Cash! I apologize for the insanely stupid question. I can be quite inept when it comes to understanding plots as a whole and just how different characters contribute to the plot points. That being said, I know it was revealed that Dazai was the Azure Postle. I've searched across multiple platforms but my slow brain is still unable to understand how it works, I've even re-read the light novel and rewatched it in the anime. Having been a long-time watcher of your videos (Which I adore) I've realized that when it comes to anything BSD-related you explain things in such a way that I can fully understand, whereas if someone else were to explain or if I were to read it elsewhere I most likely will have no clue what they meant. It's been foreshadowed through this whole comment but I would really love it if you could make a video discussing this plot (How it plays out and how Dazai was the Azure Apostle). If not, I 100% understand but I'm turning to you in a desperate attempt to understand something my minuscule brain can't seem to figure out. Anyway, that's about all I have to say. It’s not going to warrant a full video but the answer is simply- the azure apostle (sasaki) was watching them at the time, so Dazai had to pretend Kunikida was about to shoot him and make Kunikida play along so that she wouldn’t know that they were onto the case. Since Sasaki DID frame Dazai, at the end of the day
