Honestly, just picture her scribbling it away after clingfilming the curry and having to go fight literal invading aliens hahaha Thanks for watching! :)
It's so good, they so gently fall into such clear, honest, tender love that it's hard not to feel a bit overwhelmed when reading. Thank you for watching my video:))
@safetysonrookie Yeah one of the best in manga & anime. Didn't just happen when the girl saw the guy for the 99th time and suddenly there was love. Also like that Momo is one of the main protagonists and stays that through the story.
The Takekura Ken memorabilia got destroyed along the rest of the house. Most likely she used the new house gimmick to create those posters herself, even.
Momo's two girlfriends are the best wingwomen. They drag Okarun to Momo's maid cafe, and when Jiji comes around they even say that Momo's already got Okarun :D Wish there were more scenes with them!
What i like a lot is that momo's friends support her relationship with okarun instead of moking her for liking him, i mean, they know he is a sweet boy that will take care of her but they know that he is a weirdo aswell
By definition, the gyaru style is a delinquent style. It’s going against societal conventions. So while Momo did hide that ghost aspect of herself to most ppl, she was able to find other “delinquent” friends who are vaguely interested in ghosts (they do mention any sightings they see to her) and are very accepting of Momo’s eccentricities and they all share a love of gyaru fashion.
Legittt: like we could have a filler arc of a shoujo slice-of-life with Momo and her friends, and it'll be a truly wholesome storyline Well, wholesome for a bunch of alt girls in an urban setting
@@safetysonrookieWell, definitely if you count them as side-side characters. Nearly every single one of MHA's side characters have development and depth of the average MC (Not the average BIG MC, they don't stand level with Izuku or Denji or Yuji or Lufy, but compared to everyone else they're pretty good for MCs, let alone side characters)
As an older reader, what's been awesome about dandadan is how real the romance is. There's been quite a few times momo and okarun's development reminded me of a certain point in my love life. Maybe it's a little too deep looking into this. But the romance seems to have a huge theme on believing in yourself, believing that you're worthy enough for love. And believing it like you believe in, say, ghosts and aliens. ? (Haha)
Love that analysis! I suppose there is something to be said for the two characters opening up to new worlds of ghosts and aliens - and also opening up to the world of romance, too. Thanks for watching!!
@@safetysonrookieYeah! Id also like to point out how over time Okarun actually ends up a pretty hot dude. It's like the less he gets in his head and the more he's motivated towards self improvement (and for the right reasons). So much about his appeal just falls into place. Its great at how changing your attitude and perspective about yourself can often be the missing piece. And how our insecurities be a sort of self fulfilling prophecy.
@@martinarguelles165 That is one of the main beadrocks of good relashionship. Two people pushing each other towards being a better human being. I think that is why, so many people can relate to them.
It's ironic that regardless of how over the top this series is, the characters and the raw emotion and message they project is the most real out of any of the series I've read recently.
Because their relationship feels so good and feels so like a normal teenage relationship there is a fear in me that the author might write them at some point to break up
If Mr. Tatsu decided that the whole Team Dan Da Dan survived the attempt of Kur invasion with almost zero trauma, I think Momokarun can survive as well. Dan Da Dan is not SNK, ChM or Netflix's Sex Education. DDDan is lighthearted even though it touches the surface of Hell, and I think Mr. Tatsu will go full with the _Power of Love_ trope saving the whole Galaxy.
Why would they ever break up? It would have to be something serious, such as a hard betrayal or something similar. And, as pointed out in the video, both have met their ideal type and it just strengthens their love. However, what I think will happen is that when they begin their relationship, they'll have some turmoil keeping it, probably related to social expectations.
I've been OBSESSED with this romance. I only started watching dandadan because a friend showed me a clip of the turbo granny encounter which I thought was hilarious and I loved the characters and their chemistry so much that I read the whole manga as this was when only the first episode was out. Dandadan rlly is something you read/watch bc of the premise but stay with bc of the characters
Dude this is the best Momo/Okarun video I've ever seen. You completely nailed it! I also love how modern stories have moved from love triangles to romantic rivals. There's always one very clear ship and characters like Jiji, Aira, Zuma and Vamola are used expose the flaws of their respective romantic rivals. One of my favorite details of this is with Aira and Momo. Aira lies basically all the time, her entire public persona is an act. However, when it comes to Okarun, she is extremely honest about her attraction to him. Meanwhile, Momo is usually a very honest and forthright person-- but struggles to convey her true feelings to Okarun at every point.
Ooh! I never thought about that! I guess this is part of what causes such friction between them at the start (and still now, but they're friends) because Momo and Aira are seemingly opposite. However, just like with Okarun, differences are skin deep. Thanks for such an insightful comment and thank you so much for your viewership!!
It's amazing how much Tatsu has made each plot point feed into the core relationship of the show. It really is a story about Okarun and Momo, at the end of the day. Thank you for your viewership :))
same with Zuma, he is literally the boyfriend takakura ken alike Momo wanted and she literally ignored him and was thinking about Okarun during all the diorama arc
24:01 I also wanted to mention that as well, with the whole love language thing. Successfully married couples always do small gestures for each other like a ritual, like getting/making coffee every morning, flowers every anniversary, or even simple good morning texts every morning, etc. I remember a story of a husband who was away and was still able to have a coffee delivered to his wife's work at the same time through a delayed order. Them saying "see you tomorrow" is that little gesture and realizing that makes their dynamic INFINITELY more adorable, its almost like a promise every time they would have to departure. They say it the very first time after the TB fight, then Momo cements the ritual the next time (I think right after Jiji moves into her house) its her way of promising that nothing changes in their relationship despite her previous crush being around.
I adore it - their love and affection is so much more than just attraction. It's as you said - a stability and reassurance of something deeper. Its an understanding of each others' souls. I can't express how much I love it haha Thanks for watching!! :)
lmaoooooo so true. every time my gf comes to my house and leaves I always give her a candy. I did it once as a joke and now i do it almost every time and she's always so happy. like it's such a small inconsequential thing but it's become a dumb little ritual for the both of us even after years of dating. For a story centered around recovering Okarun's balls Dandadan is such a real depiction of falling in love
@@makiiavely I love this - thank you for sharing. Its hard to express how important these little details are. A big picture is made up of so many pixels - and each of these make that up. Thanks for commenting and watching, friendo. :))
My goodness, the last two relationship beats flew right over my head: Ken confessing after reclaiming both his balls is SO obvious on hindsight, but Momo needing to grow to be able to fully accept his feelings? Shown by literally shrinking to pocket size? **Whooooosh** God I love this series!!
@safetysonrookie it was clear to me that each story arc had a progression in the relationship afterwards, but I didn't think about it deeper than that. After this? I'm going to! I'm taking this with me as I continue enjoying DanDaDan. You got a sub out of me, I'm looking forward to your future work, what and whenever it may be! 👍
The world starts turning when you finally find a good connection with someone. It's a shame that so many friendships are built around status and acting tough. So to all the awkward people here, the world would be very boring without you, so take care of yourself and don't throw magnets at people ✌🏻
Brilliant message to leave, friend. The value of Okarun is immense and something no one would have discovered if it wasn't for Momo standing up for him. Compassion is healing; human connection helps us unlock the best in ourselves. Momo and Okarun completely changed their worlds forever due to a single act of compassion.
@@safetysonrookie Yes, that first step towards someone remains difficult. Even though we all walk under the same sky, someone can indeed come from a completely different world than you, but opposites attract, they say, but I don't know if bringing up aliens with girls will help in my love life 🤭
Okay, now I rlly think this is the BEST analysis of momo & okarun's relationship I've ever seen. You explained and developed almost every single aspect of their romance perfectly!! Got me wanting to read the manga all over again loll. I don't have that much to add beyond what others already said, but the fact you responded to every comment here is really sweet :) Besides that, I hope your channel continues to grow and expand in content. Take care!!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm so pleased you enjoyed the video, I genuinely am overwhelmed by the responses. I'm so excited to respond to everyone in the comments - I actually can't believe so many people sat and watched the video. You're all diamonds. Thank you for your viewership!!
Its so cute - the subtlties that they express their longing for eachother is so cute, I can't even cope haha Thank you so much for watching :) It means a lot!
It's the perfect mix of child-like irreverence and deeply developing romance. The characters are at the perfect time in their life for such a mix too. Thanks for watching :))
I LOVE this video. I never noticed that Vamola would literally be the type of girl he would be searching for prior. I love videos about Dandadan, they really help me understand the story even further and this is one of the greatest.
As someone who has been reading the manga for a few years now, it's been such a cool experience to see how the anime is blowing up and how much people are loving it. Seeing analytical videos like this is super cool. I also really like the point made about how both Okarun and Momo has very specific types they were interested in at the start of the series and even though they've since actually MET those exact people, they basically didn't even notice because they so clearly clicked with each other. I didn't notice that upon my initial read through, but it commented on somewhere a while back and thought it was a really cool note.
It's just so gratifying to see every trial and tribulation undergone by Momo and Okarun just strengthens their relationship. It's a perfect pairing. Thank you for your viewership!!
Absolutely love this video, you explained their relationship and their growth perfectly. Momo and Okarun is my favorite couple in modern shonen because of how natural they are, two seemingly different person meet and go through an insane adventure and slowly falling in love with each other is a really common romance trope, but Dandadan executes it so well, you can’t help but rooting for them to be together. It’s not even a joke when people usually say Dandadan is a romance manga disguised as a battle shonen manga, because the romance aspect is such a big part of what makes this series so special.
Its hard not to get engrossed in the romance - It conjures up all the feelings of young love, its quite intoxicating. Thank you so much for your viewership!
I’m a manga reader since basically day one and you very well put together what is so special about these characters and why they feel so relatable from the get go. 👍 The biggest compliment I can give you is this: I opened the video and went „wtf?! 46min?!“ and then I just breezed through it. It’s so well put together that it feels more like 20 very enlightening and entertaining minutes than more than double the amount. Well done! ✌️
This is such a meaningful thing to read, thank you so much. I have been thinking about this series for weeks, and I needed to get my thoughts out there in as comprehensive a format as possible. I am so glad there are others interested in it too. :) Your viewership is so appreciated, my friend.
@XG417 I‘m a Manga reader first and foremost. Dandadan has been part of Shonen Jump Plus and free to read in the Manga Plus app. I normally check every new series of authors I‘ve read before or those that have an artstyle which immediately grabs my attention. Dandadan definitely matched the second category for me. 🙂
@XG417 The series has been available for free via Shonen Jump Plus. I read into every new series as long as the premise and the art have me interested.
@@XG417 Hey dude, I honestly jumped on the anime when it came out. I just saw it on Netflix and it just got stuck in my brain. From there I went and read the entire manga and have been obsessed ever since. haha
That is one of my favourite panels - it really was the kickstart for something special. It really adds so much weight to the entirety of the Cursed House arc.
I relate to Okarun so much, when I was younger where a girl I liked, or any friend I'm really close to meets up with their other friends who I didn't know yet, my self esteem plumets and felt I'm not needed or not important to the interaction so I just keeo silent in the back, or go away.
It's tough, especially for teenagers who aren't sure of themselves - like Okarun... Being authentic, brave, and honest - that's what we should take away from Dandadan :)) Thank you for watching!!
hey I didn't know other people feel the same way!!! but it's happening to me currently. it's too often. do you have any advice on how to grow from it? i always have trouble entering the conversation and putting my foot down. like i usually just shrink in the background and i hate it so much i wanna stop i dont know how other people do it so easily.
@lizeuah I wish I had better advice but I'll give it a shot, bud. People always tell you to "be yourself" and I agree with it, somewhat. You shouldn't ever feel like you have to be someone else - and if you have to try to do that then you are probably trying with the wrong people. But - like i said in the video, we all wear masks in the world. I would personally say that you need to find one that fits and you're comfortable wearing every day. Make sure its thin and not too heavy - because people should still be able to see the person underneath. Sorry if that's all too vague hahah trust me, experience will get you there. It's a marathon not a race!! (I talk in metaphors lol)
I watched this before work yesterday and had so many thoughts about it that I had to listen to it again on the way home, and now I'm back for round 3. I've been reading Dandadan for about a year now and you perfectly articulated the feelings it gave me that I didn't know quite how to express. As I read through the story I started realizing that I've never found a relationship that I needed to happen more than Ken and Momo, almost like their own doubts and feelings they had to overcome were the same that I've failed to overcome before. I suppose that's the intention, and probably why it's probably the most emotionally genuine and compelling relationship I've ever seen depicted. Looking at those Manga panels while you elaborate on them made me understand why they would make me feel so much while I read them the first time. Those feelings are so natural yet so complicated and I think you did an incredible job at describing why they felt like that. Please do more Dandadan, you really do seem to 'get it' in a way so few other people do
This is such a genuinely touching comment - I really appreciate your words. I'm so glad to hear that you have connected with my message. I feel the exact same way about it, which is why I have gone so far as to spend almost every day of a week working on writing and editing this video. The two characters' chemistry is important to me, and has really been a light in recent weeks. Being able to reexperience the emotions conjured in teenage life through these two is such an incredible journey. It's always such a risk to make a piece of content like this, so seeing someone appreciate it like this is remarkable, thank you. I'm intent on making more content and I will try to not let any of the subscribers I have gained across this time down! :)) Thank you for your viewership!!
@@safetysonrookie I've never seen anyone articulate their chemistry as thoroughly as you, and I almost refuse to believe you only started the Manga after the anime started. Either way, I'm thinking that your passion and dedication might have paid off because GOOD LORD I found the video when it had like 150 views, commented when it had like 350, and it's about to hit 10k views 🎉🎆🎇 I should have known your video would blow up but I didn't expect it to be so fast, and i couldn't be more happy to see it 🙂
@restitvtororbis5330 thank you so much for being here and all your comments. It's actually so meaningful. I can't take how incredibly positive everyone is here! Most importantly, I appreciate your message regarding my analysis. Seeing people respond to my ideas and thoughts makes it all worth it. I've managed to squeeze years of obsession into a month ahahha :))
The anatomical model romance really came out of nowhere xD I was really happy when Jiji turned not into a rival but a great friend! Really great analysis and you chose great pictures for everything ^^
He’s not much of a real rival but he clearly still has feelings… Momo might address him formally in this arc and let him know she wants to be with Okarun as a part of her growth
@@peamut547 I think it will be really interesting to see how she handles his feelings and letting him down. Frankly, I like Jiji a lot, I dont want to see him hurt - same with Aira - so it will be really interesting to see how Tatsu tackles this.
@@safetysonrookie I don't think he will go after Momo - he is not stupid - he can see she's already in love. So I would guess he falls in love with Aira since Evil Eye already seems to like her :)
As a 21 year old who lives on the west in this current day and age, this honestly has changed how I view relationships and many of my attempted one sided ones.
There is something truly indescribable about Momo and Okarun's relationship. Even having made this video, I still feel a lingering sense of awe at how they just work. thank you for watching :))
I think the fact that it's an anatomical model that inspires Okarun is honestly really good symbolism. The anatomical model is supposed to be, well, a model. It is meant to be projected onto as an accurate replica of the one's own anatomy, similarly to how Okarun projects his own feelings towards Momo.
Some people think that the story will end after Momo and Okarun confess to each other and officially become a couple. But, looking on this video about their journey to understand their feelings toward each other. I think that Tatsu will explore their relationship as a couple. How they navigate as a couple around their families, friends, school, yokai and aliens.
Oh totally with you here! As if love and growing just suddenly stops when they get together. The amount of insecurity and second guessing that comes with developing romantic relationships is astronomical. Like imagine them agonising over going gor the first kiss - or how to tell the group - there is so much to be done there it'd be a waste to just end it sooner rather than later. Thanks for watching!!
Spoiler alert!! Ken already confessed his feelings. I think the author wants to take the next step with his characters and I hope we actually get to see them in the relationship.
25:40 I was laughing my butt off 😂 Oh man, Momo and Okarun are so adorable and sincere. Theirs is a story that surpasses even big time shoujo. Pleasantly surprised to see it in a shonen manga!
So glad someone pointed this out hahaha I was hesitant about keeping it in but it's just such a ridiculous series, I couldn't record that with a straight face haha Thanks so much for watching!!
This is amazing. You were able to verbalize all the different aspects of their relationship and what makes it so great. I always struggle to explain why Momo and Okarun just works. I'll be pointing friends to your video. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much!! I found myself in the same place as you - all i knew for certain was that it was absolutely perfect. I put this together to help myself understand why haha I'm so pleased that you connected with it :) I'm grateful for your viewership and sharing!
Another thing about Momo's initial reaction to her friends finding out about her and Okarun is that her insecurity caused her to assume that her friends' playful teasing was malicious. We learn, later, that her friends were responding to how differently she acted around someone she actually liked as opposed to how dispassionately reserved she was before.
I love her friends - they are so good, and supportive. The way that they don't make fun of her for liking someone like Okarun is so charming. Thanks for watching :))
I've been OBSESSED with these two for a couple months now, read the entire manga up until this point and everything. I've seen and read so many Shonen over the years, but none tackle relationships with the same charm and care as they have been tackled in this series. The author knows what they're doing and I'm just here to watch them cook 😭
Great video man. You summed up everything that makes Momo and Okarun's relationship so special perfectly. I too am in the same weekly hell as you since I read through the whole manga shortly after the series premiered. 😋 When ever I am complaining about other anime/manga romances being forces or contrived to the point that ruins the characters in those series ruin any emotional investment one might have in the story. I will point those people to this video saying, "This is how it is done." Also, I will tell to read/watch Dandadan.
There's something about this material that I just haven't been able to put into words and you just broke it down perfectly and really helped cement some of that. Not really being into anime I saw the OP on recommended and went "ah that's catchy. Ok" then I came back to it a couple of times. Then the anime. Then a few days pass and I decide to go for the manga. It's the writing and characters. It's superior to many great novels and movies it's really on a league of its own and fully utilizes every tool at its disposal. Just like the manga uses panels expertly, so does the anime also use music on top of everything else. But under all that, it's just percectly written. The depth of the characters is superb. But I couldn't really pinpoint it and this video really helped.
As I said, I do come back here hehe. Just want to say that the comment section of this vid is wholesome. Makes me happy that people are sharing some of their experiences in life and how some changed their viewpoints about love :D
I actually am so overwhelmed by the positivity in this space. So much toxicity online so I'm so pleased to see so many people just expressing such nice comments. You people rock, every single one of you. Thanks for watching :))

I cannot express how grateful I am for comments like this - its really what makes me want to create. I just needed to get my thoughts and feelings out there in a medium that would last beyond my curren hyperfixated stage. I love this series so much and I'm so glad you enjoyed what I have to say about it. Despite not touching the view count of some of the big channels - having so many people connect with my work has been so humbling and inspiring. Thank you for watching :))
Its a great representation of teenage love and feelings. A pretty, bold & tough skinned gyaru who despite being labeled under typical gyaru stereotypes is incredibly smart and strong willed and actually very soft and feminine on the inside. Okarun is the otaku nerd people unfortunately to walk over & label as weird because they don’t know him, he has a heart of gold and is very tough and intelligent but doesn’t have the self confidence to bring it out. They meet because of their shared interest in what people deem as “weird” and connect because of it, & eventually a friendship and romance evolves between them however they are too shy and inexperienced to make the right move so they throw hints at eachother. Their relationship remind me of Ryuji & Taiga from Toradora, initially the series starts out with them help each other try to get their “dream type” only to realize that who they want isn’t who they need, and they start to see the best in each other. Its the same with Mokarun, Momo sees everything that is great about Okarun and he sees everything that is great about her so even though they might not fit what she hey normally like their connection & relationship is so strong that they don’t care, its honestly nice and feels natural.
This must be my favorite romance in manga of all time. It is so natural and the pacing is just right. They make me giggle time and time again. ❤ The author is so great with this.
Thank you so much - I really do appreciate that. I had to step it up for this video because I reeeaaalllyyy wanted to do justice to this pairing. It means so much to me to see these kinds of comments.
I only knew Dandadan from the anime itself. I'm hooked. Then, around the third episode of the anime, I became impatient and spent three days reading the entire manga online. I also purchased a complete set of physical copies of the manga, as if that weren't enough. No other shows made me did what I did. The relationship between Okarun and Momo is by far the greatest in any manga or anime that I have ever seen. Dandadan is peak.
I'm completely on the same boat as you when you said you got impatient and read the manga 😭and honestly, I didn't expect the manga to be as good as it was; I'm all caught up and it got me so hooked that 4 days till the next chapter feels WAY longer than it has to. I am not lying one bit when I say that every cute, blushy, bubbly moment between Okarun and Momo got me squealing and screaming into my pillow (the hand holding part, even just them BLUSHING got me hopping up and down). This ESPECIALLY applies to that confession (I did NOT see that coming, and it took me a solid 5 minutes to catch my breath afterwards 😭). Love the video! Very binge-watch-in-a-single-sitting worthy! ❤
Honestly it's so cute, it's hard to even put it into words. I have never felt so invested in a piece of romantic fiction haha Thanks so much for watching :)
GOOD VID GOOD VID GOOD VID GOOD VID Like I want to have more nuanced or productive feedback on it, but like you nailed every single aspect I could think of as to why I love these little sillies so much. In particular the segment on Momo as a "tsundere" is a good read. Reaction Formation is like the definitional trait of a tsundere, and Momo definitely falls back into it at times, but rather than being the sole way of her interacting with intense emotions Tatsu uses it highlight the difficulties that vulnerability can cause under certain situations. Plus Momo having the emotional intelligence to apologize when those outbursts hurt others and to recognize when they happen just makes her so much more likeable even when she's upset.
Your analysis was hands down the cherry on the top! 🍒 Binge watched/read the whole manga and the symbolism you've pointed in Momo's current shrinking as her personal growth vs Okarun's courage shown was ON POINT. It just goes to show this series will still bring many more interesting plots and still has a lot to explore. Tatsu has certainly done his own research and damn well.
I finished the video and untill now I never really thought about the relation to the plot predicament and they're relationship like ken needing to gain some balls and momo needing to grow now
Honestly, the depth that comes just inherently to good writing is just great. I think Tatsu knowing his characters so well means he just knows what plots work for them and I absolutely love that. Momo and Okarun are far and away my favourite anime pairing in anything! Thank you so much for your viewership, it genuinely means so much to see each comment :))
The translator captured perfectly Momo's "Love ya!" note. The Japanese used was ダイスキ (daisuki, literally: "big" [dai], "like/love" [suki]), but as it was written in katakana, the meaning might be more ambiguous, the kanji form being "大好き" (daisuki). So, I'm sure that would have confused any teenage boy who was crushing! Love this show and will miss it until they bring us the second part.
This is so interesting! Thank you for your insight!! I'm going to be releasing more Dandadan content so hopefully it helps tide us all over between seasons :)) Thanks for watching!
Hats off to you. What an incredible video and analysis. I didn't think it was possible to appreciate their relationship even more than I already did. Amazing stuff.
This is amazing, man. Because I wanted to hear you talk about their relationship more, you forced me to read 100 chapters in a single day! This video is amazing! Thank you!

One of the best (if this is not the best) videos on Dandadan. So much attention to the material! I didn’t even notice how quickly I looked at it, lol 😅
I truly appreciate your comment and viewership! Its hard to even imagine people are so invested in my video - it means so much to me. Thank you for watching :))
Dude!! This video is sooo good!! You took all my thoughts and put them in this video so eloquently, plus the Dandadan LOFI … chefs kiss. Liked and Subscribed! I’ve never liked romance anime’s, they always seem soo forced.. this story is so authentic and natural it’s a bit overwhelming while watching. LOL I haven’t been this obsessed with an anime for a long time it’s honestly like dopamine shots!!
Thank you so much for the kind words - I hope you enjoy the channel going forward! I am also so obsessed with it right now - I made this video as a type of expression of that haha I just keep rereading chapters
After binge reading dan da dan and reaching chapter 175 today, this was the perfect video i needed to watch to encapsulate my personal feelings with the stories romance to a tea
This show sells their actual relationship instead of the IDEA of their relationship. It's so refreshing that the author knows how to write people who love each other instead of people attracted to each other. Hell, Orakun didn't even realize Momo was cute until SOMEBODY TOLD HIM.
As so many comments have said, you really did perfectly encapsulate everything that i personally love about the relationships in this series. There are far too many manga and anime out there that fall into classic tropes of miscommunication and frustration. But what i love, and is so refreshing to see, is the growth of individuals and the honest communication between them. Tldr, sensational work
Legitimately the best breakdown I’ve ever seen of the characters’ relationship, and putting it in far better words than I ever could. I’ve discovered long ago that, while I’m almost exclusively a shonen reader, it’s the romance subplots that engross me the most (maybe I should just cut the middle man and read some shoujo 😅). It’s what makes me go back and reread chapters, every time something cutesy happens. And Dandadan has my brain on a chokehold since I’ve started reading it a couple of months ago, specifically because of these 2 goobers. I’m very curious to see how the series advances their relationship, as while I can count on one hand the number of times I was satisfied with a romance in a shonen, I can’t think of a single example of when a story actually develops WHILE the characters are already dating. And I hope that the story goes there, for there can still be a lot of conflict and obstacles even after they confess to each other. Trying not to keep my hopes too high, but it’s a bit hard when the series already surpasses a lot of what I expect from a weekly shonen. Anyways, sorry for the long ass comment lol. Amazing video, and hope to see more! 😊
On the chance you'd be interested regarding stories that develop after dating starts, Komi Can't Communicate is one such manga (it's not a action manga but it is classed as shonen), though to say more would mean spoilers. Kaguya sama Love is War is another.
@@Ryodraco Oh yeah I’m familiar with those, though I haven’t watched them! Yeah I was more so referring to relationships in shonen, and I imagine shojo and slice-of-life delves more properly into these aspects. And as I said, maybe I should refocus my interests and start reading some of those, so I take any recommendations at this point, thank you! 🙏🏻
Thank you so so much for such a detailed comment. I appreciate it more than you can imagine. Honestly, I never thought romance was my genre but clearly I was wrong. I cannot help but sit and re-read chapters too - just so heartwarming. I am so excited to be on this journey right now, rather than catching on at the end of the series! Thanks again for being here, buddy!! :)
I'm so glad you feel that way. I honestly couldn't get them out of my head for weeks - I just had to talk to someone about it. hence the video! The truth is, that I probably could have spoke for double the time I did in this video haha so much got cut to help the flow. Thanks for watching!
This was a GOAT quality breakdown. 💯 I'm also in the same boat, fully caught up on the anime and manga. Which led me here. What a pristine analysis of the relationship between the two so far. 🙌🏻 TBH, the waiting for more of this series is gonna be rough. It's so well done. I'm thinking of getting the full tankōbon collection and colorizing it with some colored pencils, just as something to do while I wait for more. 😄
I've already started my collection! I must own this physically but so much of it is sold out haha Thank you for your kind comment and viewership, it means so much!
19:53 I also loved this moment in the anime. In the middle of their argument, Momo absolutely MELTED when Okarun grabbed her hand. She's such a secretive hardcore romantic, yet fighting every impulse and feeling she has for him. The brief moments where their relationship grows are among the best in the series. The maid cafe chapter is absolutely one of my favorites. 23:48 I also like how Okarun is the only stable thing Momo can rely on in a world full of instability, due to how their lives drastically changed because of the paranormal and occult.
Honestly really enjoyed this analysis! It made me realize even more why Dadadan's romance feels so natural and beautiful to me. Though, as an Anime fan, i had to leave halfway through to avoid spoilers
It has fundamentally reshaped how I view my week. Mondanday and Thursday have somehow managed to rank up near the weekend in status! haha Thanks for watching! :))
TELL ME HOW YOU READ MY MIND THAT MUCH, I JUST FINISHED THE MANGA LAST WEEK AND THEY RELATIONSHIP IS ALL THAT I CAN THINKING ABOUT, i just to invested in thoses two that i cant wait to see more chapters of the manga neither next epsodes, and comes with a bigger fear to be close to end, I WANNA SE MORE OF THEM I WANNA MORE OF THIS RELATIONSHIP THAT GROW SOO NATURALY that is even hard to tell exatly where it start, i love thoses two and dandadan series, and thanks so much to put in video what is coming in my head the whole week❤
Their relationship is so sincere and adorable man, im glad I read this before it got an anime announced, I wasnt too fond of it at first, till the anime finallt dropped, then j decided to reread it (i reread it 5 times last month), god i was so happy when Okarun confessed, made my heart so happyyy, peakdadan, im glad it got the adaptation it deserved
I see your a newer content creator and I love your take on momo’s and Okarun’s relationship. Can’t wait to see what else you put out this is an amazing feel good video and I love the way you make these two seem even deeper than they already are
Can't wait for the entire series to be animated. Romance anime is my least favorite genre, but Dandadan has got me hooked. Momo and Okarun's chemistry is just too good.
Great summary of the whole story thus far! I'm caught up too on everything and certain points you had me thinking differently on how things will move forward.
I'm so hooked on this show, in a way I really haven't been for any other anime - at least not for a long time. I'm really excited for what comes next, I just don't know if my heart can take them not being together much longer - haha. Thanks for watching! :) Your viewership is immensely appreciated!!
@@safetysonrookieI don't think it will be dragged on in that sense. As you mentioned, Momo still has to grow for herself to come to terms with her feelings so she too can confess. I tell you when that happens the net will crash and I will be there for that! This series is the best!
Had to stop at the spoilers but loved what I saw of your video. I agree completely, their relationship is what makes the show. And it’s so nice to see some female anime characters who are actually People!
Woah, i have read DanDaDan a couple of times and let me say, it is a wonderful one! All these small hidden details really sets this one manga on the top! This Video was wonderful, I discovered new things I did not notice. Thank you Safety for this wonderful Video!
I'm so happy that you enjoyed it. Dandadan has been so moving for me - and the reaction to this video is truly overwhelming - I wish this positivity could last forever. Thank you for your viewership :))
Thank you so much for making a video about these two characters' relationship and putting into words why it just feels so right and natural! I've been struggling to explain why I dig they're relationship without devolving into "Idk man they're just so great together and it makes sense!"
It's so perfect that it can be really difficult to put into words at times. That's why I had to make the video - just to get my ideas about it out there. I'm so grateful so many are connecting with it. Thank you for your viewership :))
I think they are the BEST written teen couple in the HISTORY of shonen. It feels and looks a lot if not EXACTLY how a teenager would act about those feelings without exaggeration or looking like it was heavily scripted or anything. It’s just funny and cute and genuine. Some of the things a real romance has, which is why it is my favorite.
The theme about accepting yourself, who you are and what you like without being ashamed resonated so much to me in this period of my life, this shown is great and I read all the manga in a few days, I just wish it wasn't so over sexualized, but I think it's part of it's comedy idk
Seeing people grow into the people they were always meant to be is something that I find to be a fantastic theme. Its so sad that so many people just require the tiniest push to become who they really are. Momo and Okarun find that in each other. The sexualisation, I find, dissipates as time goes on. Its very much stacked at the start of the series and I think its related to expectations from the producers to get it off the ground - sadly. Apparently the main character was supposed to just be Momo but they wouldn't commission a shonen about a lead female - from what I read. Hence why Okarun was created (thankfully it all worked out for the best) but its indicative of sad sexist expectations still present in Manga. Thank you so much for watching :))
@ It seemed like it to me too that further in the manga the “freaky” aspect was rarer, thank god! Your channel is great, it shows that you are passionated about what you talk about and you express yourself very well, I hope you channel grows beacouse you deserve that. Cheers!

I heard about Dandadan from people at work and was like "I'll check it out" I forgot to watch it and when I went to visit my mom she was like "I just started watching Dandadan its pretty good" so I HAD to watch it because my MOM started it before me! So I binged the first 6 episodes at her house haha, and proceeded to read 175 chapters of the manga in that week...I played myself cuz I have to wait for more episodes AND chapters 😭

Thank you for such a wonderful video about my current obsession. You really have a way with words and managed to open my eyes to some details that simply went over my head even though I reread the manga again and again. I'm literally craving the new chapters every day and find myself sitting at work like Okarun and Momo in the beginning where they desperately wanted to talk to each other about their new interests. Thank you for this amazing review! I personally have not watched the anime nor read the manga, but I’ve seen so much hype around it, that I decided to look into it more. After some research I stumbled across this video, and, oh boy, does this anime look deep. I, myself, am also young, and I think this video relates to me in some way as well. As someone who’s not in a relationship, this video truly sparked something in me, a kind of motivation, per se. the fact momo just wrote "love ya" on a card, and both of them were absolutely emotionally devastated by it is incredibly cute and also hilarious.

Just on instinct.
SPOLERS :(((((
Wait whatt? What chapter is that from?
I love the detail that Momo's room gets more alien themed as the story goes on.
You also see it in her shirts and sweaters, perhaps bought together with her friends during a Ken Takakura gossip afternoon 🤫
I never noticed that. That just makes this even better.
Momo's two girlfriends are the best wingwomen. They drag Okarun to Momo's maid cafe, and when Jiji comes around they even say that Momo's already got Okarun :D Wish there were more scenes with them!
They're the absolute best, aren't they? For such little screen time, they absolutely have captured my heart.
Thanks for watching :))
When did they tell that to jiji?
@@tuilleriWhen Jiji first made an appearance at the school. I dont remember the chapter but its when momo has to baby sit the evil eye at school.
@@tuilleri It's in the manga
@ what chapter
What i like a lot is that momo's friends support her relationship with okarun instead of moking her for liking him, i mean, they know he is a sweet boy that will take care of her but they know that he is a weirdo aswell
They really do want whats best for her, its so sweet - they're some of the best side characters in any anime!
Thank you for watching :))
Legittt: like we could have a filler arc of a shoujo slice-of-life with Momo and her friends, and it'll be a truly wholesome storyline
Well, wholesome for a bunch of alt girls in an urban setting
@@safetysonrookieWell, definitely if you count them as side-side characters. Nearly every single one of MHA's side characters have development and depth of the average MC (Not the average BIG MC, they don't stand level with Izuku or Denji or Yuji or Lufy, but compared to everyone else they're pretty good for MCs, let alone side characters)
They're basically a representation of the fanbase

Because their relationship feels so good and feels so like a normal teenage relationship there is a fear in me that the author might write them at some point to break up
Noooooo - say it ain't so!
I really hope not, I think that this is just too perfect.
Thank you so much for watching!
@gabrielcruz6752 agreed - I think that even if they did "break up" it would only last a few chapters. These two cannot help but love eachother.
It's hard not to just feel for what's happening.
I've never felt such attachment to a cast of manga characters before.
Thanks for watching :))
Well said, and you're welcome the video was great!
I love love love the fact that Vamola's presence itself represents the strength of Okarun's relationship with Momo. It's just, AUGH, MMMM, chef kiss
It's amazing how much Tatsu has made each plot point feed into the core relationship of the show.
It really is a story about Okarun and Momo, at the end of the day.

same with Zuma, he is literally the boyfriend takakura ken alike Momo wanted and she literally ignored him and was thinking about Okarun during all the diorama arc
@@mooncake_onionyour right.
I can't express how much I love it haha
Thanks for watching!! :)
lmaoooooo so true. every time my gf comes to my house and leaves I always give her a candy. I did it once as a joke and now i do it almost every time and she's always so happy. like it's such a small inconsequential thing but it's become a dumb little ritual for the both of us even after years of dating. For a story centered around recovering Okarun's balls Dandadan is such a real depiction of falling in love

Same!! And in Momo's case, Zuma would've been her ideal love interest for his resemblance to the actor Ken Takakura.

The biggest compliment I can give you is this: I opened the video and went „wtf?! 46min?!“ and then I just breezed through it. It’s so well put together that it feels more like 20 very enlightening and entertaining minutes than more than double the amount. Well done! ✌️

As someone who's just been introduced to this fairly recently, I'm really curious - how did you come across Dandadan when it was just starting?
@XG417 I‘m a Manga reader first and foremost. Dandadan has been part of Shonen Jump Plus and free to read in the Manga Plus app.
I normally check every new series of authors I‘ve read before or those that have an artstyle which immediately grabs my attention.
Dandadan definitely matched the second category for me. 🙂

Being authentic, brave, and honest - that's what we should take away from Dandadan :))

The anatomical model romance really came out of nowhere xD
I was really happy when Jiji turned not into a rival but a great friend!
Really great analysis and you chose great pictures for everything ^^
It's impossible to hate my boy Jiji!
Glad you enjoyed the video :) thank you for watching!!
He’s not much of a real rival but he clearly still has feelings…
Momo might address him formally in this arc and let him know she wants to be with Okarun as a part of her growth
This is the masterpiece I was looking for my entire life
This is such a meaningful comment - thank you so much for your viewership!!
I think the fact that it's an anatomical model that inspires Okarun is honestly really good symbolism. The anatomical model is supposed to be, well, a model. It is meant to be projected onto as an accurate replica of the one's own anatomy, similarly to how Okarun projects his own feelings towards Momo.
interesting perspective!! Thanks for sharing and watching! :)
We need them to be the power couple we always wanted in anime!
@@will420high4 I'm here for it my friend! Thanks for watching :)
25:40 I was laughing my butt off 😂 Oh man, Momo and Okarun are so adorable and sincere. Theirs is a story that surpasses even big time shoujo. Pleasantly surprised to see it in a shonen manga!
So glad someone pointed this out hahaha I was hesitant about keeping it in but it's just such a ridiculous series, I couldn't record that with a straight face haha
Thanks so much for watching!!
This is amazing. You were able to verbalize all the different aspects of their relationship and what makes it so great. I always struggle to explain why Momo and Okarun just works. I'll be pointing friends to your video. Keep up the great work!

I found myself in the same place as you - all i knew for certain was that it was absolutely perfect.
I put this together to help myself understand why haha
I'm so pleased that you connected with it :) I'm grateful for your viewership and sharing!
I'm always jumping between: I can't wait to see how they end up, and: I cannot bear the idea of this series ending haha
Great video man. You summed up everything that makes Momo and Okarun's relationship so special perfectly. I too am in the same weekly hell as you since I read through the whole manga shortly after the series premiered. 😋
When ever I am complaining about other anime/manga romances being forces or contrived to the point that ruins the characters in those series ruin any emotional investment one might have in the story. I will point those people to this video saying, "This is how it is done." Also, I will tell to read/watch Dandadan.
You are genuinely too kind, I'm so pleased you could connect with my video and I hope to see you on the next one :))
Thanks for watching!!
I'm so pleased to see that you got some value from my video :) Thanks for watching!
@safetysonrookie if this is going to he the level of quality, keep em coming!

Its honestly so inspiring. Every exchange between them feels so real and genuine. I love this series so much.

Your editing and story telling(analysis) is pure perfect mate.
I'm building my collection as we speak! I'm totally obsessed - don't know what I'll do without Thursdandan!
Thanks for watching!!
I didn’t peep that “Momo needs to grow” symbolism…
Great analysis throughout!
Thank you so much - this means a lot!!
I have never felt so invested in a piece of romantic fiction haha
Thanks so much for watching :)
GOOD VID GOOD VID GOOD VID GOOD VID
Like I want to have more nuanced or productive feedback on it, but like you nailed every single aspect I could think of as to why I love these little sillies so much.
Thanks so much for your comment and thoughts! :))
This relationship from friends to couple could give most shojo manga a run for their money by how well it progresses.
My heart feels like it will explode reading this manga.
Thanks for watching:))
Your analysis was hands down the cherry on the top! 🍒
Binge watched/read the whole manga and the symbolism you've pointed in Momo's current shrinking as her personal growth vs Okarun's courage shown was ON POINT.
It just goes to show this series will still bring many more interesting plots and still has a lot to explore. Tatsu has certainly done his own research and damn well.
Thank you so much! Its so appreciated! :))

This show sells their actual relationship instead of the IDEA of their relationship. It's so refreshing that the author knows how to write people who love each other instead of people attracted to each other. Hell, Orakun didn't even realize Momo was cute until SOMEBODY TOLD HIM.
Wonderfully phrased. I think that is what really sets this relationship apart from so many others.
Thanks for watching and commenting :)
Tldr, sensational work
Thanks so much for the kind comment! I agree - its just such a special dynamic, Its impossible not to get caught up in it all when watching. :))
16:08 I'll be back after the anime finishes... But I will watch a 🤏 bit
I'm excited for you to come back! Honestly, watching any of it means the world - so thank you.

TBH, the waiting for more of this series is gonna be rough. It's so well done. I'm thinking of getting the full tankōbon collection and colorizing it with some colored pencils, just as something to do while I wait for more. 😄
I've already started my collection! I must own this physically but so much of it is sold out haha

I really have fallen in love with the writing. It just blows most romances out of the water in the shonen genre

The response I have gotten has been worth so much, thank you for your comment. It means so much! :))
@safetysonrookie Np man its a pleasure!
It’s taught me some valuable lessons and gave me a different perspective on my view of the world and people. I’m really thankful I had the opportunity to watch this video, thanks a lot, Safety On Rookie!
That's such a kind message. I'm truly honoured that you would watch this even without engaging with Dandadan! :))
You should definitelty go and experience it though, it honestly warms my soul.
